Plymouth still holding that all important 5th place and going well

Currently standing 5th in the league table at this point Plymouth Argyle manager Lee Owens declared himself extremely happy with where his team stood at this present time and told the press that he didnt expect his team to be this high in the league and was only hoping to finish in a mid table by the end of the season. However now manager Lee Owens insists that they can go for promotion and hopefully achieve it as it will be better for the Plymouth Argyle as a whole financially. All of Plymouth results from their latest games are listed below

Plymouth 1-0 Hartlepool

Scorer: Keith

Going into this game plymouth always knew it was gonna be a hard game to win as their key man Weatherson was injured. So that left marino keith all alone to do it by himself and after a few attempts of his hitting the woodwork he netted one and gave plymouth a well deserved win as Hartlepool didnt really put up much of a fight and basically handed the 3 points to Plymouth.

QPR 2-4 Plymouth

scorers: Weatherson (3), keith

This was a very entertaining game for all the fans and was quite close. The first couple of goals came fairly early and it was already 2-1 to plymouth within the first 11 minutes of the game. After plymouth keeper bosnich produced some great saves plymouth took control allowing the usual suspects to score all the goals.

Plymouth 3-1 Stockport

Scorers: weatherson, keith (2)

Continue their current winning streak they went into this game 9 games unbeaten and showed no signs of losing to a team that to be honest didnt even deserve to get a point out of this. Plymouth dominated the game in each of the game half's and eventually won 3-1 but it should of been more. The only time that stockport worried plymouth was when they scored their only goal which was a little bit lucky.

Notts County 5-2 Plymouth

scorers: weatherson, keith

Plymouth had a dream start in this game and were 2-0 in the first 20 minutes. Notts county then scored a late goal to make it 2-1 at half time. Going into the 2nd half plymouth argyle's team morale was very high but soon became low as notts county stepped up a gear or 2 and totally dominated the 2nd half. Plymouths 10 game unbeaten streak finally came to an end against notts county who played outstanding.

Rushden 4-3 Plymouth

scorers: weatherson, keith (2)

This game was a stunning one. Rushden started off the game very strong and had numerous chances and went 1 up. Plymouth then started to take control of the game and equalised just after the kick off for the 2nd half. Rushden then were on fire and scored another 3 goals to make it 4-1. It was all over for plymouth in this game but a lucky 2 goals by marino keith made the scoreline look much better.

Plymouth 3-2 Oldham

scorers: weatherson (2), keith

After last 2 games disappointment of losing them both plymouth needed some points and needed them fast if they were to stay in the playoff's and they done so but it wasnt easy. Plymouth were a very stong side throughout the game and put a lot of pressure on oldhams defence early on. Plymouth were the first team to score but not much after oldham grabbed a goal. In the 2nd half plymouth went into the lead again but again oldham grabbed any equaliser from somewhere. At this stage it was looking as if plymouth were gonna have to settle for a point but a late goal by marino keith got the full 3 points for the pilgrims.

Brighton 0-3 Plymouth

scorers: weatherson (3)

After bosnich was took out of the goal and larriou put back in plymouth gave an outstanding performance to in the end win 3-0 with there first clean sheet in ages.

Plymouth are still currently standing in 5th place in the 2nd division as the end of the season comes closer. Are plymouth gonna go up to the first division or not? find out here in the next thread following on from this one

Liverpool going strong...

After a struggling start of the season the reds seems to get in to their normal standards. After 2 draws with The Devils and Magpies The Reds managed to capture the third place by winnig the important game aggainst Tottenham with 3-1. Liverpool has also been very active in the transfer window by bringing in 2 new faces. The most importat one was the young promising talent Djibril Cissé who is an wounderful finisher. Also Dejan Stankovic(Lazio) and Deco(Porto) will be putting on the red sweater in the summer. The main goal for Pool this year will be to take a place in the European Champions League. Still it's a long way to go we are only halfway in the season so there will be some interesting games to come.

West Ham United - Nick Page

Continuing from Matchday 30

Transfer changes:

Sent Neil Mellor back to Liverpool terminating his loan contract

Sent Kevin Stuhr-Ellegaard back to Man City terminating his loan contract

Brought in the young dane Lasse Qvist on loan for the last third of the season

Loaned in Chelsea's promising defender Valerio Di Cesare to add more depth and cover Rufus Brevett

Borrowed the services of Celta's out of favour left back Angel until the end of the season.

Bought veteran Russian Defender Victor Onopko on a free to add a bit more experience and depth to the squad.

Signed Jamie McMaster on a loan until the end of the season, taking my amount of loan players back up to the limit.

Division 1, Matchday 31 > Sunderland 0 - 1 West Ham

West Ham were very lucky to go into the dressing room 1 up ay half-time, even though the goal was taken well by an out of form Jermaine Defoe following a defence-splitting through ball from the very much in-form Etherington. At half time, Nick Page switched to a 5-4-1 formation to try and shut out the flow of Sunderland attacks. He succeded in doing so, stealing a very valuable 3 points away from the grip of the Stadium of Light.

Division 1, Matchday 32 > West Ham 1 - 1 Stoke

After having the Lion's share of the possession in the first half, Defoe broke down the Stoke defence in the 43rd minute to make it 1-0 and to send the stoke boys down the tunnel with sufficiently lowered morale. Again, West Ham came out of the blocks in the second half forcing a number of emphatic saves from Stoke's veteran goalkeeper Ed de Goey. And another goal wasn't scored until stoke struck in the 89th minute with their 1st shot on target to West Ham's NINE. A somewhat fortuitous draw for Stoke.

Division 1, Matchday 34 > Watford 1 - 4 West Ham

Watford took the lead after 12 minutes thanks to a goalkeeping blunder from young Stephen Bywater. West Ham's woes continued as Sofianne was shown red for violent behaviour right on the stroke of half time. So thanks to two unlucky incidents, they were 10 men and 1 goal down. Seconds later though Defoe hit the target to level before half-time, making that 3 in 3 for the young hitman. West Ham were spurred on by this goal as well as Nick Page's half time team talk, scoring 10 minutes after the restart through Etherington. Defoe Struck again with 20 minutes to go and then punced on a rebound with 5 minutes to go for his hat-trick turning a potentially embarrising loss into a perfect example of an away win.

Division 1, Matchday 35 > West Ham 4 - 0 Burnley

Matthew Etherington spurned a chance to score from the spot on 7 minutes, but this was overlooked on 19 mins as Defoe made it 1-0 to the Hammers. This lead was extended on 35 mins by a David Connely tap-in. After the break, things only got worse for the languishing Burnley side who let in two more goals from both Lasse Qvist & Michael Carrick, sealing a dominant home win for the boys in claret. Will Qvist stay on load for next season?? Who Knows? The fans certainly hope so........

Division 1, Matchday 36 > Bradford City 0 - 2 West Ham

West Ham got off to a flier at Valley Parade with both Jermaine Defoe and Lasse Qvist netting inside the quarter-hour mark. From then on it was the london side's match. They threw attack after attack, yet couldn't build on that 2-0 scoreline. Paul Evans' sending off with 15 minutes of the 1st half left to go did not help procedings, yet Bradford held their weakened line well, and avoided any embarressment. Not that Nick Page will be complaining, that takes it to 12 goals scored and 2 conceded in his team's last 6 matches, including 3 away wins on the trot.

End of Session.

After ending Matchday 31 languishing in 18th place, with the pressure of both the board and the fans resting on his young and unproven shoulders, Nick Page has turned things around. A symbolic ground out result for his men at the Stadium of Light set them on their way, and without a late, somewhat lucky goal going against them against Stoke, they may have been propelled further up the league than just to 10th place. One thing is sure though, with his star striker Jermaine Defoe striking 7 goals in 5 games incuding his 1st hat-trick of the season, as well as a manager of the month award for February in the bag, Nick Page will be holding high hopes for easter, and looking towards his players for continuing good form as they seek out a way back into the Premiership to which they belong.

Cardiff Stutter Along

After an initial good start Cardiff have stuttered along to 7th in Division 1 after the last session. Although still very much in the running for a playoff spot Cardiff haven’t really hit the heights they would have liked too due to varying reasons.

Firstly the failure to build a big enough squad caused problems in the middle of the season when injuries occur. Although the premiership teams took many of my prospective purchases ïŠ I take full responsibility for not acquiring more signings to bolster the squad. Other reasons though were out of my control, firstly I didn’t get a chance to go on holidays before the end of a session and I was away for the next session, leaving my team in the hands of my asst to choose the side icon_rolleyes.gif (he had some crazy ideas on who was in the starting XI) and then during the same session the nice Southampton Human Manager icon_eek.gif nicked my Assistant Manager and so left me struggling.

So with some off the field problems the team didn’t perform well in a couple of sessions but have managed a good League Cup Run and also are in the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup. Some great results are followed but some poor performances and I just hope we can string a good run together at the end of the season to get us at least into the playoffs. But its our home form that is most worrying, having dominated matches but a lot seem to be ending 0-0. We need to convert these performances into 3 points to challenge this year.

Here are the up-to-date latest results for CCFC. Its been a while since my last post so it’s a long list!

Watford (a) 4-0

Huddlesfield (a) 2-0 LC 3rd Rd

Bradford (h) 0-1

Sheff Utd (h) 0-0

Derby (a) 1-1

Gillingham (a) 2-1

Rotherham (h) 1-1

Colchester (a) 0-0

Norwich (a) 2-2

Walsall (h) 1-0

Everton (h) 2-3 League Cup QF

Millwall (h) 0-0

Nottm Forest (a) 0-1

Stoke (a) 1-0

Liverpool (a) 2-1 FA Cup 3rd Rd

Wimbledon (h) 1-3

Preston (a) 1-3

Burnley (a) 1-1

Crewe (h) 0-0

Man City (h) 2-0 FA Cup 4th Rd

Wigan (a) 2-3

WBA (h) 0-0

Ipswich (a) 2-3

Bolton (h) 1-1 FA Cup 5th Rd

Crystal Palace (a) 2-2

Coventry (h) 1-0

Bolton (a) 2-0 FA Cup 5th Rd

Sunderland (a) 1-0

Sheff Utd (h) 1-0 FA Cup 6th Rd

There you go, a complete mixed bag. Losing at home to Wimbledon one week then winning at anfield against Premiership giants Liverpool. Im praying for a little consistency. Fingers crossed my next report will contain the words "playoff spot achieved".

Middlesbrough recovery continues

middlesbrough continue to rise from the relegation mire that they were in. the fa cup has provided a welcome distraction with boro marching into the 6th round and holding leeds away to earn a replay at the riverside. all this is leading to a boom in confidence at the club with most players with the exception of porhallson enjoying life under murphy

oskarsson continues to terrorise the opposition defences and it is only a matter of time before on of the big guns come in for him, a rumoured offer of 9m is said to be needed to succure his services although murphy remains adimant that he wants him to stay

BANACH's Good Form with Rushden continues:

Ant Banach has continued his great start as manager of rushden & diamonds well into the season. A few good signings including Willaims from Man utd for 100k

John Otsombor from Liverpool 350k

Peter Ramage from Newcastle 50k

Dave Brammer & David Perpetuini are rushdens signing incoming for the summer.

Grimbsby vrs Rusden

Rushden continued there scoring with 2goals from rodney jack and 1 from guby to beat the mariners away from home.

FT Grimsby 0 - 3 Rushden

Port Vale vrs Rusden & Diamonds

a poor performance from rushden against 3rd from bootom side vale. rushden needed this 2 narrow down the gap between them and blackpool

FT Port Vale 0 - 0 Rushden

The next match was against Lee Owens Plymouth a truly cracking match a 7 goal thriller wich favoured Rusden

FT Rusden 4 - 3 Plymouth

a real blow for Rusden in this match they got truly destroyed by QPR with the defence just letting in the strikers

FT Rushden 0 - 4 QPR

Rusdens poor form continued with a disapointing draw against lower team Barnsley

A goal from Lowe was 1 good thing to come out of the match

FT Barnsley 1 - 1 Rushden

Not a bad result, though Rusden could of done with 3 points to narrow the gap between them and blackpool, as they were playing blackpool thay could gain some point and cath them, but a 80th minuted goal seemed to give Rusden the 3 point, but on 89 a deflected shot found the back of the net

FT Rushden 1 - 1 Blackpool

A good strong start to the match made by rusden and a strong finnish too,

FT Stockport 1 - 3 Rushden

a Slip up made by Rushden, they should have convinsigly won this match but a lapse in the defence led to a goal scored by notts county

a equaliser 10m later from porhalsson( on laon from spurs) proved decisive

FT Rusden 1 - 1 Notts County

another good performance away!

FT Hartlepool 1 - 3 Rushden

Fianl Game of the evenings session was a success for Rushden 2-0 win at home to struggling wrexham!

Boro march on in cup

the once depressing season that middlesbrough were having is now showing signs of success as boro are now one game from history

whilst they remain an improving force in the league with a win over charlton and a point at everton (along with 2 1-0 defeats to chelsea and arsenal) they have really blossomed in this seasons fa cup

after brushing aside leeds 2-0 in the 6th round replay at the riverside, boro were drawn away against the might of man utd who have walked away with the premiership this season.

what followed in the semi was unbelievable as boro took the game to utd from the off. with each team intent on attack goals flowed regularly ( especially as in normal time both defenses didnt have a clue what they were doing) and early in the second half boro were 4-2 up when they swiched to all out defense. not a good move as utd took over and grabbed a debated last minute equaliser which saw murphy sent to the stands for debating it too vigorously

abandoning the defnse boro returned to attack in style and pearson scored the winner in the 103 minute (although utd did have an excellant chance inside the last 30s of extra time, which only a magnificent save by schwarzer kept out)

5-4 and boro through to the final, but full credit to man utd for a great game

the 2nd semi produced another surprise, with cardiff knocking out arsenal

resulting in the tv companies dreaded final boro v cardiff

Plymouth Argyle Update

Plymouth still on outstanding form that could see them get promoted to division one for next season

Plymouth before these 2 sessions were currently in 5th place in the second division and looking to secure either an auto promotion place or a playoff place.

Here is a round-up of all the games that plymouth played during these 2 sessions

Plymouth 5-1 Luton

Scorers: weatherson (3), Barbosa, Keith

First game of tuesday session and what a first game it turned out to be. Plymouth were on fire from the word go and went out real strong in all areas of their game. The game was already wrapped up by half time and the scoreline could of been a lot worse. Luton scored a lucky consolation goal early in the 2nd half but apart from that Luton were very bad at the back defensively and didnt attempt many shots on plymouths goal.

Wycombe 4-4 Plymouth

Scorers: Weatherson (2), Van Vossen, Keith

This game was a well played game by relegation battlers wycombe and they put up a very hard fight against plymouth and proved that they still have a chance of staying up. After wycombe were 2-0 up with near enough half of the game already played it looked as it wycombe were going to pull out a suprise victory. Luckily they didnt and plymouth came back and made it 2-2. Not long after plymouth went 3-2 up (what a comeback this game was proving to be) but yet again wycombe came back and the final result of the game was 4-4. Great game it was and it proved that no matter how much plymouth were losing by they could always come back.

Plymouth 2-0 Tranmere Rovers

Scorers: Weatherson (2)

This game was one of the first clean sheeted games they pulled off in quite a while. With Larriou in amazing form there was no way past him for tranmere. Unfournately all tranmere's best efforts were wide of the plymouth goal. Plymouth yet again proved to be the more stronger team and got another well deserved 3 points.

Brentford 1-3 Plymouth

Scorers: Thorpe, Keith

This game was a very hard game for plymouth and even though the final score was 3-1 to plymouth Brentford didnt half make it hard for them. Plymouth started the game off strong by getting a very early goal on 2 minutes. Thorpe scoring the great goal which marked his first goal for the club. With weatherson injured plymouth always knew this game was gonna be very hard but 2 very late goals by keith settled the nerves of Plymouth argyle boss Lee Owens and got them a very hard earnt win.

Plymouth 2-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Scorers: Weatherson, keith

With weatherson back from his injury plymouth were again on superb form. Weatherson marked his return by getting the first goal for plymouth. Later on in the match it then turned into 2-0 and it was all over for sheffield wednesday.

Peterborough 1-4 Plymouth

Scorers: Keith, weatherson (2), beresford

An early goal from peterbrough to take them 1-0 up in this game looked as if it was gonna be another hard game for plymouth. But once that goal went in plymouth stepped up a gear and scored some sensational goals to give plymouth another win. Plymouth manager Lee Owens thought peterborough were gonna be a real hard game and maybe salvige a point as it was only 1-1 at half time but that was the only goal that they were to score.

Plymouth 5-0 Bristol

Scorers: Weatherson (2), Barbosa, Todd own goal, Keith

Start of tonights session (being wednesday) and still being in 5th plymouth needed to get that auto promotion spot and what a start again. Plymouth dominated all of this match and expected a much harder game from 7th placed bristol city at the time but bristol did very little to show plymouth what they are made of. Instead plymouth done it and what a display they put on. After the match manager Lee Owens was stunned and thought his players played exceptional.

Swindon 2-3 Plymouth

Scorers: Keith, weatherson (2, 1 pen)

After going 1-0 up early on in plymouth found themselves in a comfortable position and there was no threat from swindon until Larriou after all the outstanding performances he has given in the past few games put the ball into his own net to make it 1-1. Plymouth then took the lead again on the 71st minute and things were looking up until swindon yet again equalised. It was all looking as if the final score was gonna be 2-2 until keith was brought down in the penalty area on the 90th minute. Weatherson scored the penalty and made sure plymouth stayed right up the top of the league and still in contention for the top 2 spots. Manager Lee Owens after the match said in a press review that even he couldnt of expected the outcome to be what it was.

Plymouth 3-0 Bournemouth

Scorers: Keith (3)

Although weatherson stopped scoring for once in this game the other striker still managed to net a hat trick. Marino keith played outstanding in this fully deserved win and with much delight loved the attention of the press due to scoring his goals that helped Plymouth.

Plymouth are currently 4th in the league after going on an amazing 12 game unbeaten streak (7 wins in a row) and weatherson is the division 2 top goal scoring along with marino keith 2nd top scorer. The next few games are going to be the crucial ones of the season to see if plymouth have what it takes to be automatically promoted to division one for next season. If not they are sure to get playoffs this season which could turn out to be very hard as 3 human managers may be playing in them. If weatherson's and keith's amazing form continues and the remaining games are won in the league for Plymouth then who knows what the outcome will be at the end of the season. Stay tuned here to find out how plymouth get on come the end of the season.

Plymouth just miss out on promotion to Division One

After finishing the first season in the clan and just missing out on getting promoted due to losing 3-0 to Ali's QPR in the final Plymouth Argyle will be looking to strengthen their squad in every single way to be able to get promotion in the season ahead. So far Plymouth Argyle manager Lee Owens has made no messing and has signed numerous new players to fit in with Plymouth's new team plan for the new season. The players that have been brought to plymouth are listed below.

Pawel Abbot 45k

Looks a promosing young talented striker who will used mainly as a sub to rotate with the key strikers

Marc Walton Free

A very stunning 18 year old striker who looks quality and was found at no club. Will be one of the main strikers this season and one to certainly watch out for

Michael Appleton Free

A good experienced defender who will play a big part in keeping plymouth's defence together this season

Keith Gillespie Free

Another experienced player this time a midfielder. Will hopefully produce the goods on the pitch.

Callum Davidson Free

Another leicester player brought on a free expected to work well with his old team mate gillespie.

Lenny Pidgeley Free

Good young keeper that will be a sub for most of the season but will develop into a worldclass keeper in a few seasons.

Alexandros Tziolis Free

Very nice young defensive midfielder who could turn in a real decent player in years to come for Plymouth

Moritz Volz Free

The ex arsenal player will do very nicely at home park and stop those big teams from scoring too many.

Mark Lynch Free

Very good player for Plymouth but will be on the subs bench for most of the new season.

Martin Brittain Free

A nice young midfielder who should do well this upcoming season.

After all these signings were made by Lee Owens the one thing on all the supporters minds was are all the players going to live up to expectations. You will all just have to wait and see how they all do as the season progresses.

Can all other managers please make sure they post at least one team report a week if they are at the sessions for the results they are doing a report for

aston villa's results this season have been poor but it was what was expected of them at the start.

in the second half of the season villa only managed to win against:

2-0 at home to leeds

2-1 away to portsmouth

3-0 away to blackpool in the league cup only to be bet by rivals birmingham city in the next round 2-0.

1-0 at home to man city

the villans then went on a run which saw mostly losses

after a run that saw 5 defeats and 1 draw, villa entertained newcastle and won 3-2 in greatly contested match.

they then took on boro and held on to win 2-1.

next matc was away to wolves in a match where villa were hammered 3-0,this started off a run of 7 successive defeats to put villa firmly in the relegation dogfight.

in between that bad spell was some shining light as villa bet ipswich 2-0 in the FAcup but gloom returned to villa park as they then lost 2-0 to leicester in the next round.

this terrible run left manager Fran Cochrane scratching his head and wondering what his team had to do to get a win.

villa traveled to fulham and with their formation changed slightly they took the 3pts with a 2-0 win, then drew 0-0 at home to portsmouth.

after yet another loss at blackburn ,villa just about managed to scrap enough points from their remaining games to finish 1 point above to relegation zone.

during the summer transfer window Cochrane went into the transfer market looking mainly at loaning players and possibly buying 1 or2 to strengthen a side which didn't want to be fighting the same battle in the coming season.

Blue curse strikes again

well what a dissapointing season for boro fans, a miserable premiership finish of 16th was not what was desired by the board or the fans.

the distraction of the fa cup turned into a nightmare too, as boro lost to a cardiff team containing 5 past or present boro players (vidmar, kavanagh, stockdale, harbuzi and beirholm) surrendering a one goal lead to 2 well taken set pieces goals.

the curse of the team in blue continues for boro who have lost every cup final they have been in to a team in blue

zenith data systems 1-0 loss to chelsea

league cup 1-0 loss to chelsea

fa cup 2-1 loss to chelsea

league cup 1-0 loss to leicester

and now fa cup 2-1 loss to cardiff

will boro win a title ever, not if they keep on performing how they did this season,

the pressure is on murphy to deliver even though he came 3rd in the manager of the year awards, and fair play to oskarsson, boro's only bright spot who won player of the year

boro must improve or murphy must go either must happen soon

Plymouth start off real well in new season and currently find themselves 1st (early days yet though)

As plymouth signed numerous new players for the new season to make their squad much better equipt for division 2 football this season they wanted to try the near enough all new side out to see how well they would perform as a team. The answer was very good but they still couldnt get a cup momentum going yet. The results of all the games that have been played so far in the 2nd season are listed below.

Plymouth 3-0 Burnley

Scorers: walton (2), weatherson

Start of the new season and all plymouth players were looking in superb condition after they dominated this game against the joint favourites to go back up. Even though walton got off to a great debut by scoring two goals he didnt really play that well. Continuing the trademark tradition weatherson named as man of the match for his first game this season and helped to set up waltons goals. Never the less plymouth got off to a great start.

Hull 3-2 Plymouth

Scorers: Walton, weatherson (ET)

This game was always gonna be a big game for plymouth as hull were a decent team in the same division as them. Hull started off rather strong and didnt let the front men for plymouth have much space to do something. Hull then scored one moments later due to a plymouth freekick backfiring a little. Plymouth then scored around the 83rd minute to take this game into extra time. Near enough as soon as the first half of extra time kicked off hull took the lead to make it 2-1. The second half then came and weatherson got a goal to make it 2-2. It wasnt until the very last minute that hull made it 3-2 and knocked plymouth out of the league cup in the very first round for a 2nd consecutive season.

Plymouth 1-1 Oldham

Scorer: Abbott

Due to marc walton getting injured in training which has left him out for 2 weeks Plymouth Argyle manager Lee Owens always knew that his team would struggle upfront in this game. This gave abbott his first start for the club after moving to Plymouth from Preston at the start of the season. The game kicked off rather slow and there wasnt to many chances for either team. Abbott then scored to get his first goal for Plymouth and put a smile on manager Lee Owens' face. Oldham then responded almost immediately and took that smile back off his face.

Notts County 0-1 Plymouth

Scorer: Abbott

Note: 4 players were sent off for notts county in this game

Plymouth were strong all the way through this game from start to finish and didnt let notts county have one chance. Abbott and weatherson missing loads of chances and notts county's keeper putting on an excellent display. The scoreline should of been alot more as they were down to 7 players but a win was all the Plymouth were searching for.

Wigan 0-3 Plymouth

Scorers: Aljofree, weatherson, abbott

Note: 1 player sent off for wigan

After the previous result plymouth were on great form. They started off again by dominating the game start until finish. Aljofree scored a great volley to give him his first of the season then weatherson and abbott again added to the scoreline to make the final score 3-0 to wigan. Considering wigan were another newly relegated team Plymouth manager Lee Owens thought that they would of at least put up some kind of fight but they didnt.

With plymouth currently standing in joint 1st place in division two in these early days the season is already looking a bright one for Plymouth. Their new defenders mainly brought from premiership teams is gelling together very quick and Plymouth aint conceeding half as many as what they did last season. The question is will Plymouth keep up with the good form and keep that all important 1st place???? find out in Lee Owens' next team report

Information for clan members: next session wednesday 17th december normal times all should turn up apart from the 2 or 3 that i have already heard from and wont be there (haska (conn), nick (away), ali (footy) and simon (celebrating results). all the rest should be in the session and if you cant make it please email the clan email. Also dont forget your team reports and see you all wednesday icon_smile.gif

United Win Historic Double

Manchester United Boss Matthew Besant has today congratulated his players on thier remarkable double winning success.

The red devils ended up winning the league by 10 points and also managed to beat milan 4-2 after a remarkavle comeback in the champions league.

The Board were delighted with this success and the critics who doubted besant when he first took control of united were the first to congratualate him on his remarkable success.

United have now started the new season with 2 wins and 1 draw and Besant is reportedly very confident that a repeat of last season is achievable especially after the summer signings of Daniel Bonera, Andres d alessandro Fabricio collocini and belozoglu Emre. whic has done much to bolster up the manchester united team.

They also managed to capture the man widely regarded as the next maradona brazil's finest youngster diego.

Surely this will do much to confirm Uniteds place as the best team in england at the end of the season.

Thankyou

Matthew Besant

So near yet so far to the Premiership

Cardiff came so close to gaining promotion through the playoffs at the end of last season but just fell short of the finishing line. In what would have been a glorious end to the season the bluebirds missed out on the chance to play in the premiership.

Where we last left you Cardiff were just outside the playoffs and having a mixed bag of results in with some good cup runs.

The session after that contained some highs and lows again, with Cardiff advancing to the semi's of the FA Cup but only getting 5pts out of a possible 12 pts from their home games. The results of the session were as follows.

Sheff Utd (h) 1-0 FA Cup 6th Rd

Bradford (a) 3-0

West Ham (h) 0-1

Reading (h) 2-0

Gillingham(h) 0-0

Watford (h) 1-1

Sheff Utd (a) 1-0

The next session was a mammouth one and would decide the outcome of the league, FA Cup and playoffs as well.

It started superbly with a 1-0 win over Arsenal in the FA Cup semi final, a result which we deserved. A couple of home wins including a thumping 6-1 win over Norwich and some good away results ensured we finished the League in 4th place. Meaning the playoffs beckoned against Nottm Forest followed by an FA Cup final against Boro.

A 2-0 win at home was followed up with a superb 6-1 away win at Forest to take us through to the playoff final with a 8-1 agg win. We had no time to celebrate as the FA Cup final was next.

Despite losing an early goal and being second best for much of the 1st half we managed to grab an equaliser and then with 20 mins to go grabbed the winner!

Cardiff were FA Cup winners!

Again no time to dwell as the playoff final was next. Despite the previous form the final was a massive let down and we went on to lose 1-0 to Sheff Utd, a team we had previously beaten 3 times that season. Promotion was not to be sadly but we look forward to next year in Europe! and also the possibility of promotion.

The results of the final session of that season are as follows.

Arsenal (n) 1-0 FA Cup Semi Final

Walsall (a) 1-1

Derby (h) 2-0

Rotherham(a) 1-1

Norwich (h) 6-1

Nottm F (h) 2-0

Millwall (a) 0-1

Stoke (h) 0-0

Nottm F (h) 2-0 Playoff Semi 1st leg

Nottm F (a) 6-1 Playoff semi 2nd leg

Boro (n) 2-1 FA Cup Final

Sheff Utd(n) 0-1 Playoff Final

Plymouth go into a bit of a bad patch for a while but still riding high in division two

After being 1st place early on in the season plymouth needed to continue this good form in the sessions to come. Plymouth carried on winning a couple of games but then a few games later their first defeat came in the league so far this season and now find themselves conceeding alot more goals than what they were before. New plymouth striker Marc Walton seemed to be working well with weatherson upfront netting 6 goals out of 7 games that he has played so far so going well for him and his future at plymouth is already looking a good one for the 19 year old star. Details of all matches that plymouth played last session in the clan are listed below

Plymouth 2-0 Bournemouth

Scorers: Walton, weatherson

First game of this session and a very good start. Plymouth were by far the better side all the way through the match and went into this match basically knowing they were going to win as bournemouths form of late was very poor.

Wrexham 1-0 Plymouth

This was one of those unlucky games for Plymouth as they dominated the match all the way through and missed loads of chances. But the only chance that wrexham had they scored.

Plymouth 3-0 Hull City

Plymouthj lost out to these in the first round of the league cup so they needed hull city to pay the price and they did and could hardly stop plymouths forwards. Hull had little chances and needed most of their players to defend for most of the match.

Swindon 2-2 Plymouth

Scorers: Walton, weatherson

This game started off just the way plymouth manager Lee Owens wanted it to as they went 2-0 within the first half. But second half was a bit worser although plymouth still had most of the possession but swindon took advantage of all the attempts they had and clawed 2 goals back to make the final score 2-2.

Rushden 1-0 Plymouth

This game was probably the hardest game of the season for Plymouth so far and probably one of the most important against's ant's rushden. The game was very evenly matched all the way through the game but a very late goal for rushden on the 89th minute meant that they got the 3 points that could of gone to any of the 2 teams really.

Barnsley 2-2 Plymouth

Scorers: Walton, weatherson (pen)

This was another potential win that was again thrown away due to poor defending. Plymouth like in the swindon game went 2-0 up within the first half then barnsley came back.

Plymouth are currently standing in 3rd place but most teams have a game in hand over them. It is looking like it is going to be a very interesting season for them. Manager Lee Owens believes that if they can get some good winning streaks together he could be going for the 1st place that he wants. Once more games have been played in the season then plymouth know what they will have to do to achieve the task that is at hand. Plymouths new players also have gelled quite quick with each other and the defence seems more tighter than last season. More to come in the next update

Cardiff make good start

After 2 sessions of the second season Cardiff look a side in form as they race to the top of division 1. During the pre-season a lot of deals were done and Cardiff began to build themselves a decent squad.

Players IN :

Diego Meija - 210k from Alianza

Mohammed Konjic – 180k from Coventry

Luis Moreira – 300k from Emelec

Rob Guppy – 130k from Plymouth

Tom Kennedy – 90k from Bury

Omar Daley – free from Partmoore Utd

Bartosz Karwan – free transfer

Brian Kerr – Free transfer

Lee Miller – 400k from Bristol City

Players OUT:

Mark Bonner – free to Burnley

Leyton Maxwell – free to Hull

Peter Thorne – free to Hull

Andrew Campbell – 200k to Portsmouth

Nicky Fish – free transfer

Meija, Konjic and Moreira all came in late 2003/2004 and Moreira was particularly impressive in midfield. Meija was a quick strong forward who would be a key part next season, whilst Konjic was mainly cover for the centre back position. I was particularly happy about signing Lee Miller and the Polish Winger Karwan and Brian Kerr also seemed a very good buy. The others were mainly squad signings, all 19 years of age and looking promising.

The first session started with a Charity Shield match against Man Utd. With a good preseason behind us I thought we might possibly cause a shock but it was not to be with Matt’s Man Utd winning 4-1. It looked worse than it was though and after being 1-1 for a time Utd’s class took them home. One shining light was the number of chances we created against the top team in this game at the moment, Earnshaw himself missed 3 one-on-one’s and the team blowing some great chances. But it wasn’t to be and Man Utd won the first trophy of the season. I had to leave the session early but felt the team could do well without me. How wrong I was – our first game away to Rotherham ended with a 3-3 draw and then we lost away to West Ham 2-0 and the stats showed that result flattered us.

Man Utd (n) 1-4 Karwan

Rotherham (a) 3-3 Parkin, Kerr, Meija

West Ham (a) 0-2

So when I returned on the next session I was a little worried about our form. But with my Assistant completing the signing of Lee Miller whilst I was away things soon changed. The second session results went something like this.

Derby (h) 5-0 Gabbidon, Langley, Miller, Parkin (2)

Millwall (h) 3-0 Harbuzi, Miller (2)

Sunderland(a) 2-0 Gabbidon, Langley

Wimbledon(h) 3-0 Stockdale, Karwan, Miller

Fulham (a) 3-1 Harbuzi, Miller, Parkin

Levadia (a) 3-1 Harbuzi (2), Miller UEFA CUP 1st RD

Norwich (a) 2-1 Miller, Harbuzi

We had played 7 won 7 for 21 against 3. A great session that lifted us high in Division 1. Hopefully the next session will be as fruitful.

Olisadabe causing unrest

rumours are rife in middlesbrough today that all is not well in the relationship between star striker olisadabe and murphy.

Olisadabe is alleged to have seriously annoyed murphy with his statement of being upset that he is not considered a first team regular. the statement came as a complete shock to murphy as he had started olisadabe in every game until he was sent off and banned for three games, and recalled inmmediately after the suspension ended. a club source is said to belive that olisadabe will be on his way out of the club unless he grows up.

on the field, things continue to look up for boro, who after the trials of last season continue to press forward.

the recent results have been

0-0 totenham home very dull only 3 shots for each team

5-0 sheffield united home boro showed glimpses of class at times

4-0 torquay united home league cup the reserves comfortably through to face man utd in the next round

1-1 everton away, 31 shots on the everton goal, but only 1 taken

0-0 wolves home more missfiring in front of the net

2-2 charlton away the better team for much of the game, but only salvaged a point through a late equaliser

so boro are still in the cups and sitting comfortably in 9th as we head into tjhe winter break, europe has to be the target for murphy in the new year
