Newcastle closer again to title

Newcastle continued their amazing form in the league with some hard fought victories in the last session.

First up was Fran's rejuvenated Villa. We created numerous chances but goals at half way thorugh each half gave us a 2-0. Our finishing of chances was higlighted again with 27 shots on goal; 21 on target yet only 2 goals. But still happy with win against a side on form.

Next was Benfica in the CL, again we dominated the game but only took 2 of our chances. I was happy though with another clean sheet that made us favourites to go through.

Our hardest game of the season was up next, taking on Matt's Assistant at Old Trafford. A good even game with fewer chances than normal and we were happy with a draw although Braathen missed a great chance for a winner late on.

The FA Cup was next and due to injuries and lack of fitness i decided to put out a second team. This nearly backfired though as Wigan got a late goal and applied pressure after us being 2-0 up and crusing. Big guns will be back for next round though against Arsenal.

Against Benfica we stepped up a gear. After going 1-0 down we stormed to 5-1 ahead with some clinical finishing that had been missing in the last couple of games. A late goal did stop the celebrations as Newcastle were through to the Quarter Finals.

Last up was performance of the night as we thrashed a good arsenal side. 6-0 did not reflect our dominance as we missed a hatful as well. A great win.

Things are going well for Newcastle, with only 8 games to go in the league and a 18pt gap it looks certain that the title will go to Newcastle.

The draws for the cups are :

Newcastle V Arsenal - FA Cup Semi Final

Newcastle V Bayern Munich - Champions League QF

But injuries are taking thier toll as through the season we have lost no less than 7 players for a period of 3months or more. Luckily the squad is better equipped this year and are just managing to cope. Anymore though and the Champions League and FA Cup run's could suffer.

Newcastle will be hoping to wrap up the league on Monday's session and hopefully the season by Tuesday.

After many months of suffering under a painful board Fred Patten has left reading for premiersip club Birimingham he said there was a lot of rebuilding to do but it was the right choice of job in todays football climate, in the transfer window he made 3 signings, Juilo Cruz 1.5million from inter. and Luke Chadwick and Johhann Gundammson on frees from man utd and middelsborogh reespectively. Pattens carrer at birimham has been vbery indifferent so far. His most noticable victory was a 3-0 win against Villa. So did he make the right choice to leave Reading for Birmingham only time will tell.

Wednesday session report

As the 2nd season was coming to a close wolves manager Lee Owens was only hoping to secure his job so he could have a whole season with wolves next season and stay in division one. Wolves promotion hopes were given a big blow as they failed to win a single game this session. Wolves are going to have to win all their remaining games if they want to stand a chance of going up to the premiership next season and Lee Owens needed to secure his job as he isnt too sure whether he will keep it even though it wasnt that long since he joined them. Wolves are currently lying 13th in division one. This is how their results went in this session

WBA 2-1 Wolves

Scorers: mackey

A not so bad start to the session against a slightly stonger team than thy imagined they would face. Wolves were unlucky to lose this but thats the way it goes sometimes in football. Mackey carried on with his good start to the club by neeting a goal but couldnt get anymore.

Wolves 1-2 Norwich

Scorers: mackey

Since the formation change the defence has operated a lot more smoothly at wolves but they can never seem to get the goals they need now. Another unlucky 2-1 defeat and it felt exactly the same as the last game as mackey grabbed another one.

Rotherham 3-3 Wolves

Scorers: Mackey (3)

Mackey yet again the only player on the wolves side with life in him. He grabbed a great hat trick and is really impressing manager Lee Owens. Shame none of the others were there to back mackey up.

Wolves 0-0 Bradford City

A goal less draw that aint happened at any team Lee Owens has ever managed. Lee Owens was speechless after this match and i cant blame him. Not many chances were created for either side and it turned out to be a pretty boring game.

The season is very near a close and will be finished this coming week. Wolves are currently mid table and Lee is thinking up a new tactic to try and test it to get wolves back on track for the playoffs hopefully. Keep reading this thread to find out whether Lee Owens is the first clan manager to get sacked twice and or if wolves get promoted.

Liverpool are currently riding high in the league, and its looking like its gonna be another good season for them but who knows what can happen it is football

Liverpool 5-4 Newcastle

This was a game that liverpool won it was a close game but at the end the quality of the strikers was the difference. cavaneigh was on fire and netted a few of the goals. And Newcastle arecurrently top of the table if Liverpool Could maintain this form they could find themselves near the top if not top.

History rewriten

Also since the hiring of the new unproven manager Shaun Jones, Liverpool have gone 21 Games with out losing and 9 gameswon in a row which is new Liverpool record.

Boards support

Shaun Jones also saw his club take £1,900,000 from the gate reciepts of the home game against Roma in the champions cup 2nd round, which was won in style buy the home team.

Sunderland Fight On

Drama at the Stadium Of Light a few weeks ago as unknown manager Stephen Barnes took over the reigns at Sunderland.

With only a few games left, the Sunderland board may have unsettled the team as they look to be champions of the 1st division.

As Barnes came in he sold Stephen Wright to Rangers and brought in a prolific goalscorer, Scottish striker, Lee Miller from Bristol City.

Sunderland have big matches coming up against the likes of Millwall and Norwich, but only time will tell if Barnes was a good appointment.

Looking forward to session tonight, might finish season tonight but more than likely tomorrow.

Will Newcastle win Premiership?

Will Matt get sacked?

Will Mike survive?

Will Barnsey & Joey gain automatic promotion?

Will Lee get into the playoffs?

Will Stevey win another league title and with it another promotion?

Of course Newcastle will win the premiership icon_biggrin.gif but i have no idea about the rest

Newcastle are Premiership Champions!

With 4 games still to go Newcastle have won the Premiership title. A great achievement for the club who are in the FA Cup final and the Champions League Semi's as well.

Last nights session began with Newcastle 15pts clear with 8 games to go. 5 league games, 2 Champions League and the FA Cup semi were completed.

The first game of the session was against Everton. Although we started slowly, clinical finishing enabled to win the game easily. Running out 7-1 winners in the end. A new record

Next up we were away to Bayern Munich in the champions league, our toughest match yet. Despite a bright opening half we found ourselves a goal down after 56 mins. 10 mins of crazy defending later we started to get back into the game and got an equaliser and the crucial away goal after 67 mins from Braathen. This is how the game ended and we were happy with the draw.

Three days later it was the FA Cup semi final against Arsenal. A great start by us including a goal for todorov meant we were all over Arsenal. They then had Parlour sent off and we laid siege to their goal. Plenty of missed chances later and then Robinho popped up with their first effort to equalise. But the toon were just toying with me as within 2 mins a Jenas header made it 2-1 as we took a deserved lead into the break. After half time we Guarin sealed the game and made it 3-1, after we coasted to a comfortable victory in the end.

No time to rest though as 4 days later it was the return match against Bayern. A classic game, one of those games that gets you jumping around your room. With the tie poised at 1-1 from the first leg the pressure was on Bayern as they had to score. But we got off to a perfect start, after 6 mins Oskarsson netted a great team goal and we were on our way. A great first 30min spell for us suddenly evaporated as we started to ease off. Bayern came storming back into the match and just after half time made it 1-1. So the match was level but i knew a Bayern goal could end our hopes. With 20 mins to go a great team effort was rewarded when Todorov finished off a great chance to make it 2-1 and we were heading to the Semi's. Or at least that is what i thought. 3 subs later in an attempt to save some legs and defend the lead and we were under the cosh and before i knew it Bayern had equalised after 80 mins and got that crucial away goal. With only minutes left a change of formation and gung ho mentality as we charged to pull victory from the jaws of defeat. Then in the 90th min a ball by Jenas found Ossi Oskarsson who blasted past the keeper and sent St James' Park into celebration. 3-2 and as it stood through to the semi's. No more drama was to unfold as we held on to knock out Bayern and get to the semi's.

After that game the first team and some backup players were given a rest as again only 4 days rest before next premiership game away to Preston. A mixture of reserves and U19's struggled against lowly Preston as we lost 1-0, only our 2nd defeat in the league. But we still remained 15pts clear.

With a week to recuperate a much stronger side was put out to face Blackburn away. A comfortable win tarnished by conceeding a late goal as we won the game 3-1.

Again with time to recover we were able to put out a full strength team against Southampton at home. The result showed this as we beat the previous record broken earlier in the session by whooping Everton 7-0. Ossi the star man with 4 goals, and the manner of victory enabled us to bring off 3 players at HT.

Next up the Champions league semi final first leg against Olympiakos away. A solid performance with 2 goals in the second half enabling us to come away with a good 2-0 win and make us strong favourites to reach the final.

The final game of the session was against Chelsea away. Chelsea on form so a tough match expected. We only needed a point to win the league and i was torn whether to put out the 1st team to get that point in last game of session or put out 2nd XI to prepare for upcoming games. In the end sense prevailed and i put out a mixed team. It did backfire though as we were totally outplayed and lost 2-0. Only our third defeat of the season but the most convincing.

But at Old trafford things were unfolding as Man Utd beat the then 2nd place Liverpool and handed us the title. It would have been nice to win it with a victory but winning it is the most important thing and we have achieved that. With 4 games to go and it already won i cant see me putting out my first XI especially with the 2nd leg of the CL, hopefully a CL final and the FA Cup final as well.

Tonights session will more than likely be the end of season finale, where we find if Newcastle can add the CL and FA Cup to the Premiership title and make it a treble and a fantastic season.

Well done to Stevey who has won another league title, and also Barnsey and Joey who have won promotion to the premiership already. Also to Simon @ Boro who beat Real Madrid away in semi final of UEFA cup.

Wolves slump continues as the end of the second season approaches

Monday session

Since the arrival of new wolves manager Lee Owens' wolves have not been themselves dropping from 7th to 14th. Lee Owens is currently very close to being sacked again and things aint looking good. If only he can get to the start of next season things would be alright as he would see superstar wonderkid corrado from real madrid coming and a bunch of other quality players.

The only player who at the moment seems to be guiding the team the right way is Ben Mackey who was signed from coventry by manager Lee Owens when he took over. With mackey on great form others aint and thats why wolves have suffered and are still suffering. This session seen wolves lose quite a few games but at least they managed to win one.

With all of the cup finals taking place in this session and loads of premiership games still left to play wolves only managed to get 4 games in. This is how they went for wolves in this session.

Sheff Utd 3-1 Wolves

Scorers: Mackey

A shocking start to this session which saw wolves play rather poorly and sheff utd werent messing and took all the chances they got very well.

Wolves 2-0 Cardiff

Scorers: Mackey, Kennedy

An impressive win against andy's side saw wolves move up a couple of places in the league table. Shame the points didnt really do anything for them as they was still standing in a poor position.

Sunderland 3-0 Wolves

Another human team clash seen shauns sunderland kick my wolves asses. A fair few chances were created by both teams but sunderland were better on the day.

Wolves 0-1 Derby

A game that wolves certainly didnt deserve to lose this was. Derby had one shot all game and what do you know they scored it. Wolves were all over them having 14 shots but derbys keeper was on real good form getting man of the match at the end.

The season is very near to an end just one or two games left and Lee Owens is hoping that he will keep his job. If he can be prepared for some great results next season.

Cardiff Safe

After taking over Cardiff half way through the season in 19th place i managed to get them out of the relegation battle and nearly into the top half of the table, buy finishing 14th. Brought a few short term signings to improve the squad but once the transfers come through in the Summer Cardiff should have a real good chance of gaining promotion next season (well i hope so anyway icon_smile.gif)

End of season 2 review

The end of season 2 finally came and what a season it was with a few sackings happening and nearly a 2nd sacking in one season for Lee Owens it was surely a great season that gave a lot of enjoyment to all clan members. Generally most manages done very well with their clubs and won some great trophies. Others didnt do so well but still managed to keep their jobs. Start off with jimmy's newcastle.

Jimmy seen his newcastle side perform the best so far winning the league by quite some distance. He then went on to win the fa cup against si's middlesbrough who also had a good season. Then he totally demolished his opponents in the champions league final and won the cup which i think is the hardest one.

Since wiggy joined liverpool he hadnt lost much and finished high in the premiership in 2nd place. Unfourtunately wiggy didnt win any cups but 2nd meant that he was in the champions league this season and had a chance to win it instead of jimmy this time.

Simons middlesbrough had an alround good season improving a lot from last season and won the uefa cup which is a great achievement for the club. He also managed to do well in the premiership and finish in 5th place. Although simon thought he may of been in the champions league he is in the uefa cup again so a chance to retain it.

Because of the amount of times there was a differemt manager at arsenal this season arsenal didnt do to well but still managed to finish 6th in the premiership with newest manager garry fowkes.

Mike laws crewe knew they were going to have a tough season ahead of them as it was their first season up in the premiership. Although mikes crewe didnt start off too well and were in relegation for quite some time they managed to revive themselves and get out of relegation to finish in a good 14th place in the premiership.

Frans aston villa managed to stay up just aswell for a rather poor season for them by their standards but at least fran didnt get sacked at the end of it and hopefully he will improve in this coming season.

Because of barnsey joining half way through the season he didnt get to experience a whole season with sunderland but the amount of games he did play since he joined he done well in. This good form won him division 1. Roll on premiership.

Now we come to me what can i say. I joined wolves 3 quarters through the season after i was sacked as Plymouth manager. When i joined i could see loads of changes were goin to have to be made if wolves were going to come to the premiership so i signed a couple of players and was immediately playing better. I had a lot of unlucky losses though which mucked up my season and nearly got me sacked again. Luckily im still with wolves for the new season and confidence is high as i have already snapped up some class youngsters. Final position was 15th which was prehaps even a little too generous.

Another manager joining late as cardiff done well to move cardiff up several places as they were in relegation when he joined them. They ended up finishing 14th one place above wolves on the same points which was good for them considering.

Another great season for stevey seen him win division 2 his first season up. Is stevey ever gonna do bad in a season now? it now seems a very long time ago since he was managing hartlepool and sending them down icon_smile.gif

With fred being sacked from reading and now at his new job birmingham he didnt do to well and kept birmingham up in the premiership no problem by finishing in a comfortable 13th place.

Joey another manager to be at a 2nd club in one season managed to recover from his sacking and done well with millwall getting them promotion and finishing 2nd in division 1. But will he be able to survive in the premiership who knows?

Ant had a great season with portsmouth again and yet again was able to avoid being sacked he finished in a good 11th place just out of europe so no doubt that will be his aim this coming season.

And finally paul who i dont think was here for hardly any of the season (and is now on the waiting list due to other commitments) finished in a good 4th place but it wasnt the assistant who got him their really.

The 2nd season has now started and as usual the reports will keep on coming in so look forward to a new season and hopefully its a good one for me and other managers.

Newcastle do the treble

After clinching the premiership title a couple of weeks back Newcastle added the FA Cup and the Champions League trophies in a superb end to the season.

Carrying on from the last session Newcastle started with a home game against Mike's Crewe. A 2nd XI was put out due to the build up of games as Wehrman and Kristiansen got the goals to get a 2-0 win.

Next up was Charlton and I kept faith with the same team that started the previous match with some big names on the bench. Pozzi opened the scoring and a double for Oskarsson after the break gave us a 3-0 win.

Next was the first important match of the session, Olympiakos @ home. An early Oskarsson goal settled the nerves but a late rally saw the greek side level. A slightly nervy finale occurred but it finished 1-1 (3-1 on agg)/

Fred's Birmingham were next and again a 2nd XI was put out to rest the first team. In a tight game goals by Ameobi and Todorov proved decisive as we came from behind to win 2-1.

The final league game of the campaign and with the fixtures easing up i was able to field some first teamers to bolster the side. Goals from Malbranque, Wehrman and ameobi made it 3-0 and we finished the season on a massive 103pts.

With some rest the players were now ready for the first of 2 finals. Middlesborough in the FA Cup were up first. A tense start and some woeful finishing by Newcastle meant it was 0-0 for most of the first half, but a goal before half time settled the nerves and we went in 2-0 at half time. We began to dominate a tired Boro' side (who had played UEFA cup final 3 days earlier) and goals from Oskarsson 2, Braathen 2 and Todorov enabled us to win 5-1 and win the double.

No time to celebrate as the last game of the season was a Champions league final against Dynamo Kiev. (who knocked Liverpool out in the Semi's) It was a very tight match but a brace from Braathen made it 2-0 early on and we were coasting. A mistake at the back let Kiev in and they made it 2-1 with 20 mins to go and suddenly nerves kicked in. These though were settled by a wonderfull 25 yard strike from Zonneveld which killed the game and brought home the Eurpean Cup.

Crewe (h) 2-0 Kristiansen, Wehrman

Charlton (h) 3-0 Ossi 2, Pozzi

Olympiakos (h) 1-1 Ossi

Birmingham (a) 2-1 Ameobi, Todorov

Man City (h) 3-0 Malbranque, Wehrman, Ameobi

Boro' (n) 5-1 Ossi 2, Braathen 2, Todorov

Dynamo Kiev (n) Zonneveld, Braathen 2

So a wonderful season for Newcastle who only lost 4 games all season.

But where to go from here? well a new tactic is developed which might make things a bit interesting and hopefully a cull of some players and some fresh new talent will convince the manager to stay on and defend those trophies.

The season closes and at Hull we find ourselves league winners. Using the same faces as last season we managed to push expectations and pull out some good results on the road.

With the partnership of Capi and Elliott firing on all cylinders and support from loan player Stuart Downing on the left wing they formed a explosive trio. We scored 104 goals in the league and managed to only concede 25. Mostly to thank for the good defence record was keeper Alan Fettis, he might be getting on but this guy knows how to party.
