July Update

TFC have hired Thomas Schaaf as their manager.

Zlin have hired Juande Ramos as their manager.

EURO Vase

VDF v. Grbalj (Montenegro)

VDF played the first leg of their EURO Vase Second Round match against Grbalj of Montenegro in the friendly confines of the Arena of Doom. Pavel Cech opened the scoring with a header off a corner in the 17th minute. This was followed by a spot-kick goal by Ondrej Muller in the 40th minute. At half, the score was 2-0 in favor of the Czech team. Shortly after the interval Huntelaar put away his first of the campaign. The rest of the match was rather uneventful, and the first leg ended 3-0 for VDF.

Grbalj (Montenegro) v. VDF

The return leg figured to just be a formality, as VDF held a comfortable 3-0 lead as they traveled to Montenegro. Huntelaar scores a sensational goal from the edge of the box in the 7th minute. The score at the half was 1-0 (4-0). A very boring second leg ends with a final of 1-0, and VDF will be continuing after winning the round 4-0 on aggregate.

VDF v. Aston Villa (England)

Well, VDF got screwed in the draw for the 3rd Round of the EURO Vase having to go up against Aston Villa. With the first leg at home, VDF would need a great performance to hope to qualify. Gabriel Agbonlahor got an all-important away goal for Villa in the 32nd minute. Klaas Jan Huntelaar went down with an injury at the end of the first half, it is unknown as yet the length of his injury. Alexandr Cholupka claws one back for VDF 3 minutes after the break. The second half was full of minor injuries and a dominant Villa side was unable to put one in the net, despite seeing the majority of the ball, and the First Leg ends 1-1.

Aston Villa (England) v.VDF

VDF goes into the second leg at Villa Park needing a result provided they get a goal to have any hope of moving on to the EURO Cup. It was a rather uneventful first half that saw one clear cut chance by Bojan saved by Brad Friedel, and John Carew leave the match due to injury. VDF would need a better second half performance to get the goal they need to move on. Muller takes a shot and…IT'S IN, 1-0 to VDF and that puts them up for now, in the 69th minute. Libor Bohm is injured in the 80th minute for VDF. And they do it, VDF have pulled off the slight upset beating Aston Villa 1-0 in Birmingham and winning the round 2-1 on aggregate.

European Champions Cup

Lech (Poland) v. AFC Eagles

The Eagles drew Polish outfit, Lech in the Second Qualifying Phase of the ECC. The First Leg took place in Poland. The first goal of the match is an own goal by Marcin Bialek. The Eagles have owned the first half of play taking 60% of the possession. Hopefully they are able to build on their lead in the second half. Wayne Rooney unleashes a fierce shot and puts it in in the 50th minute. Radoslav Kovac puts a third in on 70 minutes. The final whistle blows 3-0 to the away side, and it looks like the Eagles will easily qualify.

August Update

European Champions Cup

AFC Eagles v. Lech (Poland)

This looked to be an easy match for the Eagles as they won the first leg away 3-0. Radoslav Kovac ends AFC Eagles wasting of chances by putting one away in the 28th minute. Walcott followed up with another less than 10 minutes later. Robert Lewandowski was sent off in stoppage time of the first half, leaving Lech to try and make up 5 goals with 10 men. Lech are now down to 9 men 2 minutes into the second half as Lukasz Kowalski is sent off after receiving his second yellow card. AFC Eagles were unable to capitalize on their two man advantage but they didn't need to and the match ends 2-0, with AFC Eagles moving on after winning the tie, 5-0 on aggregate.

Shaktar (Ukraine) v. Multi Scorgasm FC

A decently tough draw for The Exciters as they must travel to Ukraine for the First Leg of the 3rd Qualifying Round. An uneventful first half ended 0-0, and this game appeared to be heading for a 0-0 draw until Marcelo Moreno put the home side in front on 69 minutes. Shaktar were then able to hold on to their lead for the last 21 minutes and got to travel to the Czech Republic with a 1-0 lead.

Spartak Moscow (Russia) v. AFC Eagles

The Eagles get to head out to Moscow to do what Napoleon and Hitler never could, conquer Russia. Wayne Rooney put the Eagles up in the 17th minute. That lead however was to be short lived as Ryhor Filipenko equalised 9 minutes later. Mozart made a beautiful (not symphony) play to score a goal in the 31st minute to put Spartak ahead. The score at half and full time would be the same at 2-1. The Eagles would need to win at home in order to move on to the Group Stage.

EURO Cup

FC Moscow (Russia) v. Brum Tum

In what seems to be a theme, another Czech squad goes to Moscow to try and conquer the Russians, will Brum Tum fare any better then the Eagles? Moscow go ahead in the 23rd minute after a goal by Hector Bracamonte, and that goal would be the only score at halftime. Brum Tum equalize in the 62nd minute with a goal from Fernando Torres. In a rather uneventful match, aside from the two goals, FC Moscow and Brum Tum end in a 1-1 draw.

Mallorca (Spain) v. VDF

VDF stay in Western Europe getting to challenge Mallorca in their EURO Cup 2nd Qualifying Round tie. The scoring started in the 29th minute with Michal Broz putting VDF up 1-0. Just before the half Ondrej Muller put VDF up 2-0 away. Upon the hour mark it seemed that the flood gates just poured open. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scored, in the run of play this time, in the 63rd to go up 3-0. Aritz Aduriz clawed one back in the 66th and Juan Arango gave hopes to a miraculous comeback in the 74th, however, no more than 4 minutes later, Bojan ended those comeback hopes by putting in a goal of his own, and the First Leg ended 4-2 in favor of the away side.

European Champions Cup

AFC Eagles v. Spartak Moscow (Russia)

The Eagles came to the Czech Bird's Nest needing a victory to get through to the Group Stages. At the half, AFC had not performed to capabilities as they have not put one in despite dominating. Pletikosa has been having the game of his life for Moscow to keep them ahead. With AFC Eagles hopes of qualifying fading fast, Nikita Bazhenov crushed them totally with a goal in injury time for Spartak Moscow. The tie ended 3-1 on aggregate for Spartak.

Multi Scorgasm FC v. Shaktar (Ukraine)

Multi Scorgasm also needed to come from behind at home in order to qualify for the Group Stages. The Exciters came into this match knowing exactly what they had to do and they did not disappoint. Milan Baros started the scoring in the 8th minute, putting his side up 1-0 and tying the score on aggregate. Messi then came through 8 minutes later with a goal of his own. However, Brandao scored for Shaktar, and this goal seemed like it would put the team from the Ukraine through to the group stages. At half the score was 2-1 in favor of the Czechs. Needing another goal, Milan Baros scored his second in the 54th, and this time The Exciters held the lead and won the match 3-1 and they were through to the Group Stages.

EURO Cup

Brum Tum v. FC Moscow (Russia)

The Tum Army came back home needing a victory to move on to the next round. On what appeared to be offsides, FC Moscow take the non call and go on to score a goal in the 24th minute. The score at half. 1-0 FC Moscow and The Tum Army would nee a better showing in the second half. Torres tried but was unable to pull one back. Despite their best efforts Brum Tum was unable to get the goal they so desperately needed and the match ended 1-0, and so did Brum Tum's European campaign.

VDF v. Mallorca (Spain)

This appeared to be another easy match for VDF as they held a 4-2 advantage and were now playing at home. A very boring match ended 0-0 but VDF needed nothing more so they will take that as they move on to the First Round, with dreams of the Group Stages.

In the Champions Cup, Multi Scorgasm FC was drawn in a group with Liverpool, Werder Bremen, and Olympiakos.

In the EURO Cup, VDF was drawn against CSKA (Sofia)and AFC Eagles was drawn against Everton.

Injury Table

Through the first month of games, there are a couple surprises in the table. Well, AFC Eagles are off to a flying (pun intended) start as they have only dropped 2 points this month. However, SL Bohemians are tied with them, and the only reason the Eagles are ahead, is because they have scored more goals. The biggest surprise of the month is Multi Scorgasm FC being at the foot of the table. They just started their European campaign, so the first few games shouldn't have been tough on them as far as conditioning, so this is rather unexpected for the squad expected to win the League this year. The League is rather jumbled right now, as it is still early in the season, so a good run of results for any one team could see them vault straight up the table.

And here's a peek at the Second Division

September Update

Czech National Team

World Cup Qualifying

Northern Ireland v. Czech Republic

In their first match of the World Cup Qualifying Campaign, the Czech Republic meets up with Northern Ireland. This match will be played at Windsor Park in Belfast. The Czechs held much of the possession in the first half and totally dominated the Northern Irish, however, they could only get 1 goal by Martin Fenin in injury time throughout the whole half. Radek Sirl puts another behind the keeper on 59 minutes. Steven Davis pulls on back on a counter attack for Northern Ireland, in the 82nd minute the score is 2-1 Czech Republic. Steven Davis heads in to tie the match in injury time, 2-2. A miraculous comeback for Northern Ireland and they are able to get a point in this 2-2 draw, the Czechs must be disappointed.

European Champions Cup

Multi Scorgasm FC v. Liverpool (England)

Well, Liverpool came to Brno looking for a victory in the Champions Cup. Through the first half of play, Liverpool have owned the match. They should be up by 2 or 3 goals but at the half The Exciters can count themselves lucky as it is still 0-0. In the 53rd minute, Ryan Babel opened the scoring putting in a rebound off a Lucas shot. Robbie Keane went down with an injury in the 79th minute. Ryan Babel puts in his second of the match in the 86th. Yossi Benayoun knocks in a penalty that was earned by Babel in the 90th minute. Agger heads in after a free kick in the 93rd.

EURO Cup

Everton (England) v. AFC Eagles

The Eagles leave Prague and venture to Liverpool to play Everton in the EURO Cup First Round. Bogdan Stancu was taken of in the 5th minute with an injury. Yakubu puts one in the net in the 14th minute. Castillo puts another in for Everton, 2-0 after 26 minutes. At the half the score is still 2-0. Leon Osman puts Everton up 3-0 and this one looks all but over. Victor Anichebe makes it 4-0 and teams from the Czech Republic never want to see a team from Liverpool again.

CSKA (Sofia) (Bulgaria) v. VDF

VDF travel to Bulgaria to play CSKA and hope to come back with an away goal or two. VDF lost Klaas-Jan Huntelaar in the first minute and it looked to be an uphill battle for VDF. The first half was rather boring, in fact, much of the game was boring. Then in the last 15 minutes VDF remembered that they needed to score if they wished to win the match. Roman Bednar put two in, in the 76th and 81st minutes. Michal Broz iced the game in the 87th minute and VDF would go back home with a 3-0 lead.

A couple more transfers were made as the Transfer Window was open until September 30th. SL Bohemians signed Lassana Diarra and Joris Mathijsen for 14.75 million pounds and 10 million pounds respectively. The Gorillas also signed Carlos Sanchez for 1.6 million pounds.

I seem to have neglected this competition but here it is the Czech FA Cup 4th Round. And the peek at the Second Division

This month, AFC Eagles were able to take a 1 point lead, although VDF have been on fire recently and are now in second place. Multi Scorgasm FC are out of the drop zone right now but they are by no means near safety right now. The middle of the table is still very muddled and over the next month or two the picture may become clearer.

C'mon you Super Gorillas! They seem to like signing goalies, I got excited when I saw the name Eduardo and though'd we'd pinched Arsenal's Croat. Just need Ronny back from injury to help us break from mid-table.

October Update

European Champions Cup

Werder Bremen (Germany) v. Multi Scorgasm FC

Multi Scorgasm FC travel to Germany looking to put their thrashing at the hands of Liverpool behind them. And this match didn't look to be going any better as Torsten Frings puts one in in the 3rd minute. Milan Baros went out with an injury in the 40th minute. Claudio Pizarro put Bremen up 2-0 just before the half-time whistle. Much of the second half went by with nothing happening then in injury time Frank Baumann scored for Bremen, 3-0 to the home side. To make you feel better however, Liverpool thrashed Olympiakos 6-0.

EURO Cup

VDF v. CSKA (Sofia) (Bulgaria)

VDF went home up 3-0 and just needing to not lose by more than 2, it should be an easy task. For good measure Bojan puts one in on 30 minutes. The half-time score was 1-0 (4-0). CSKA pull one back in the 77th, but is it too little too late. An easy match for VDF they go through after drawing 1-1. On to the Group Stages.

AFC Eagles v. Everton (England)

The Eagles needed a miracle to stay in and move on to keep pace with title rivals VDF. Bogdan Stancu scored in the first minute and it seemed as if they might be able pull off the unbelievable. There was no more scoring in the first half and AFC Eagles seemed to be headed home with nothing. Vaclav Sverkos believed differently however and put two in within 8 minutes around the hour mark. Yakubu then put the tie beyond doubt with a goal in the 77th minute and the match ended 3-1 in favor of AFC Eagles but the tie ended 5-3 in favor of Everton.

Czech National Team

World Cup Qualifying

Poland v. Czech Republic

The Czech national team ventured to Poland as they continue their qualifying campaign. The Czechs have owned the first half with 4 clear cut chances but couldn't get anything past Artur Boruc after 45 minutes of play. Martin Fenin heads in an Ujfalusi cross to put the Czech Republic up 1-0. Jan Polak goes off in the 76th with an injury. Petr Cech pushed away a last minute barrage by Poland and the Czechs held on to win 1-0. Up next, Slovenia.

Czech Republic v. Slovenia

The Czech Republic returned home for a match against Slovenia. 0-0 at half with Slovenia dominating possession but doing absolutely nothing with it and Czech Republic wasting chances. Martin Jiranek opens the scoring in the 53rd with a superb header. Samir Handanovic played unbelievably and was able to keep the damage at 1 but Slovenia was unable to muster anything and the match ended once again 1-0 in favor of the Czech Republic.

European Champions Cup

Olympiakos (Greece) v. Multi Scorgasm FC

Multi Scorgasm FC travel to Greece needing a result, if not a win, in order to keep their hopes of qualifying for the EURO Cup alive. Fernando Belluschi puts Olympiakos ahead 1-0 in the 17th minute. Belluschi puts another in the ole onion bag in the 40th minute. Predrag Djordjevic knocks home a penalty in the 51st minute and its 3-0. Belluschi is the hat trick hero in the 64th. Belluschi is just tearing it up, in the 75th minute he puts in his fourth. Roman Pumprla is sent off after receiving his second yellow card in the 82nd minute. Its 6-0 now as Konstantinos Mitroglou scores in the 89th. Belluschi puts in a penalty, his 5th goal, in the 99th minute. A 7-0 drubbing makes you wonder how they even made it this far.

EURO Cup

Sampdoria (Italy) v. VDF

Drawn in a group alongside Sampdoria, Valenica, PSG, and Red Star, VDF appeared to have a tough draw ahead of them. They start by traveling to Italy to face off with Sampdoria. Antonio Cassano has a goal called back in the 12th minute, it appeared he was offside. 2 minutes later Bruno Fornaroli has one count this time, Sampdoria 1 VDF 0. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar equalises in the 22nd minute and already VDF has outperformed all other Czech teams by scoring in the Group Stages. Sampdoria has owned much of the first half yet the sides go in to the half all square at 1. This time Cassano scores and it counts, 2-1 Sampdoria after 47 minutes. Bruno Fornaroli scores a spot-kick to make it 3-1. Cassano puts in a second in the 85th and its 4-1. A 4-1 final and VDF are going to need to play better in their remaining matches.

Top of the group after four and ahead by 3 points.

UEFA Champions League

Liverpool (England) v. Multi Scorgasm FC

And now, Multi Scorgasm FC get to travel to the Czech Republic's favorite foreign city Liverpool, England. Let's see if they fare better this time rather than last. It's been 13 minutes and there hasn't been a goal by Liverpool yet. Robbie Keane slides one in, in the 33rd minute. It's only 1-0 at half with Robbie Keane's goal the difference. Martin Skrtel makes it 2-0 in the 70th. And now for the greatest accomplishment outside of qualifying for the group stages, The Exciters only lose 2-0.

UEFA Cup

VDF v. Paris Saint Germain (France)

VDF have PSG travel to the Czech Republic as they hope to continue their stay in European Competition. In the 6th minute PSG go ahead on a goal by Peguy Luyindula. Mexes receives his second yellow and is sent-off in the 50th minute. Luyindula has 4 goals as he scores another penalty in the 51st minute. In the 84th Luyindula gets a penalty hat trick, its now 5-0, all from one player. A 5-0 finish will surely hurt VDF in future matches.

December Update

UEFA Cup

Red Star (Serbia) v. VDF

VDF travel to Serbia with slim hopes of qualifying, but needing a win here and an improbable win against Valencia. Edgar scores in the 11th minute to put Red Star up 1-0. Ondrej Muller gets an equaliser from the spot in the 36th. At the half its 1-1 and VDF are keeping slim hopes alive. Bojan puts VDF IN THE LEAD in the 54th minute, its 2-1. Jaroslav Peskar receives his second yellow and is sent off for VDF in the 72nd. Let's see if they can hold off an onslaught in the final 18. Red Star equalise in the 88th with a goal from Djordje Maric. A draw, it’s a point in Europe in the Group Stages, VDF have accomplished something.

UEFA Champions League

Multi Scorgasm FC v. Werder Bremen (Germany)

The Exciters have their final game of the Champions League this season on their home ground, hoping for a respectable performance. A bore of a half, its 0-0. Milan Baros puts Multi Scorgasm FC ahead 1-0, maybe there will be multiple scorgasms now. And it’s a final, Multiple Scorgasm 1 and Werder Bremen do not score a goal, and it’s a victory for the Exciters in the Champions League.

UEFA Cup

Valencia travel to Plzen having already qualified for the final 32, and VDF need a victory to even have a shot. At halftime at the Arena of Doom, the score is 0-0. In other news, PSG have taken a 1-0 lead on Red Star, which doesn't help VDF at all. Philippe Mexes, comes off his suspension and puts VDF ahead 1-0 in the 48th minute. David Villa equalises in the 68th minute, do VDF have what it takes to go ahead. Red Star have also given up another goal, and qualification looks unlikely. Miguel Angel Angulo breaks the hearts of VDF fans as he puts Valencia up 2-1 in the 91st minute. The game ends 2-1 and that’s the end of European play for VDF as well, the only hope for the Czech Republic now is Sparta Prague.
