The exciting part is that due to overtaking Portugal the top 2 in the league receive automatic group stage berths. But we can't think about that just yet. Sad to see Heracles fade away in the end there, as the quality of Feyenoord and PSV really shone through. But we will have that 15m+ injection of cash into the club, and will set us up for the next couple of years. Transfers (In) Again, most of these fees are to be paid in yearly instalments, but we spent about 4m this transfer window up front. Central Defenders Defensive Midfielder Central Midfielder Striker Weird game against Ludogorets aside, it was a good preseason. The media think our 2nd place last season was a fluke, and I tend to agree with them. However, I think we can still snag a spot in Europe, so that's the aim. Transfers (In) We get off to a dream start in the league, seeing off a tricky first game against Feyenoord before easing through our next two. From a dream start in the league to a nightmare Champions League group. But I'm just thinking of the money, we weren't even supposed to be here this early in the save. We destroyed RB Leipzig, who are currently 3rd in the Bundesliga, beat PSV and now hold first place by the slimmest of margins. Our next match? Feyenoord in Rotterdam. We have two home games against Zwolle and Go Ahead Eagles which I expect to win before a final showdown against PSV in Eindhoven. Feyenoord choked hard, losing to Groningen and Fortuna Sittard, but to be fair they also had the Conference League semi finals to contend with, falling at that hurdle to Hertha Berlin, but adding plenty to the coefficient. Transfers (In) We had significantly less to spend this transfer window (1.7m compared to 5m odd), but that didn't stop us from making some good upgrades. We have a new look midfield, with a Dutchman finally making the first team, and an intriguing strike option. Central Midfielders Striker Our best preseason yet. We get another tough group, but we've beaten RB Leipzig before so 3rd is the aim I think. PSV and Feyenoord should also get at least 3rd in their groups, and Group C is absolutely terrible. Europe is still a possibility though, so that's the aim. The facilities have been improved, but the intake preview hasn't really reflected that. Striker Transfers (Out) Onana had his release clause met by PSG, and now earns 3 times more than he did here. We'll be looking for his replacement immediately. A busy but successful preseason, and Derry City of Ireland stand in the way of a Conference League group stage berth. If we can stay injury free I think we can easily push for top 3. Transfers (Out) We were unable to find a suitable replacement for Onana, but Ott, will step in for Osswein. Left Wing Back It's an undefeated start to the Eredivisie, and we're safely through to the Conference League groups. I absolutely expect us to top this group. Should we keep our form up, we're going to be able to attack the transfer market in a way we haven't yet been able to, strengthening the squad beyond our wildest dreams to date. Transfers (In) We grab some cheap replacements that aren't as good, but they'll do. Goalkeeper Central Defender We start the year off amazingly, but the impact of our departures hasn't been felt properly yet. We are 9 points ahead though, so there's a bit of room for error. No pressure Speaking of the ECL.... We receive Dynamo Kyiv, runners up in this competition in 2024/25. If we get through that, I think we can have a very, very deep run considering the remaining teams. We will definitely have at least one Dutch team in the quarter finals though. I've decided to make it automatic if I win the league in a nation and they already have an automatic CL group stage spot, and for nations that don't have an automatic group spot I have to take the club to a spot in the group stage.
