The game results are calculated on an ongoing basis as the game plays and then the graphical representation of each highlight will be shown.  It makes no difference to the result whether you watch the full game, short or long highlights or 2D

To qualify that, it's true if you don't touch anything! The more detail you watch the game in, the more likely you are to make in-game tactical tweaks, thus improving the outcome.
