Finally the board see the light and get your coaching badges upped! Sad to see so many of our real lives get in the way of the dream life’s I’ve been majorly struggling for time recently as well. If only we could all be paid per post in here we could live a happy life 🤣

Hanging on in there

The only competitive fixture we would play in December would see league leaders visit, if we were able to cause an upset we would find ourselves top of the table at the year end.

With both teams on unbeaten runs (Petrzalka nine and Dunajska Streda eight) and the visitors being the most in-form team in the league this would be a great test which could show if we really merit our position in the standings.

To lose a game in the very last minutes of the match hurt, but if I am being totally honest we didn't deserve to get the point from the match. you will note that Alex Pinto received his marching orders just before half-time, providing us with the opportunity to make the extra man count.

The above highlights how Joao Janeiro changed his hand when reduced to 10 men, notice the positions of the wing-backs in the first image and how they are more advanced than the central pairing, as soon as they find themselves a man down the right winger drops in to form a flat defensive block ensuring that solidity is maintained. The backline has a  screener in-front to block passing lanes, whilst the centre-forward still holds his position up the field to ensure the back-line doesn't fall into the trap of dropping deeper and deeper.

At the midway point Timotej Toth picked up an injury, we had already made all three subs in the attempt to energise the team, which meant it would be 10 vs 10 for the remainder of the match.

The above is visualisation of Cesar Blackmans key passes, the wide mans pace made him a constant threat, often accelerating past his man to deliver a shot creating pass.

SKF Sered were up next, the side hold one of the worst defences so far this season, conceding 29 goals in 16 games an average of 1.8 per game. I am grateful to say that they managed to stick to that historic trend as Marko Kelemen scored the all important goal for us late on, the striker now has two goals in his last three games (please keep your fingers crossed) he had not hit the back of the net all season prior to this spell.

Viktor Sliacky picked up yet another 'Man of the Match' performance, his form has been exceptional, who'd have thought the player introduced to the first-team midway through our first season would turn out to be one of the first names to be selected week in, week out.

A defeat and two victories wrapped up the month, Erik Hurny has been our surprise of the season becoming the first player to reach double figures in relation to goal contributions (nine goals and four assists). The youngster is certainly in his breakout season, given the fact that in his last campaign he only drew down 462 minutes of football, of which the majority of his 12 appearances, 10 came from the bench.

I will do a brief 'focus on' write up on him over the weekend to share with you guys, oh and update you on our movements in the market!

Three games remain before the league splits and we will play-out the final part of the season in the 'Championship Group' a top three spot will secure entry to Europe (1st UCL first round qualifying, 2nd UECL second qualifying round and 3rd the same, dependant on the winner of the Slovakian Cup). 4th to 7th will go into a European Places Playoff.

It would be great to leave the club knowing that I have secured the long-term status of the club which the added revenue stream of continental football will bring.

As always, I love the thought and analysis in your posts.

Pleased to see that the board finally gave in. It's about time! As for the on-field stuff, it's business as usual. An excellent season continues to flourish with the exception of the Trencin (freak) result. You certainly gave Dun Streda a good game, even if they perhaps did merit the winner in the end. To go toe-to-toe with the best side in the division this season in the way you did highlights the impressive job you've done here. It would be good to end on a high by qualifying for some form of European competition next season.
