Scraborn
Hello fellow managers Season 4 is done and i want to give you a small recap - we did a huge step as a club. We qualified the first time for european football. At least we had 4 points after the whole League Phase. Again we took all three domnestic titles to our name. After the season we went professional and the board decided to build a new stadium. The new arena is a few years to early in my opinion but i wont complain. This season Marvin Pieringer was our main striker and he scorred 60 goals in all competitions. I knew him because he played in the B team of my beloved SC Freiburg a few years ago and i couldn't resist picking him up. The same applies to my right back Philipp Treu. This year our aging CAM Carlos Vela was our best assisting üp player with a decent amount of produced goals and also scorring a lot by himself. If he is retiring with his 37 years I found another replacement for him who has seen some years but will aid us with his experience The San Marinese player with the most appereances was again the man, the myth, the legend Filippo Berardi but also Filippo Fabbri played some games for us. During the season we signeed Nicola Nanni as second choice striker to ignite his career again. Now we havee some results The league was easy for us this year and so was tthe cup Our european journey was quite fun and we hope for more For San Marino the year 2025 was some sort of abysmal This mail welcomed me after this season I just want to show you two of the best signings in this save - we picked up both during this season First we have the luxembourgian international Mathias Olesen. He was a free agent and was looking promissing for me as a newish player. I hope to keep him for years at this clubn because as a model citizen he could mentor some of our younger players And the second one is the future replacement for Carlos Vega. Just two words "Mario Götze" - for me as a german it was all i needed to know I hope you have fun in your saves... ...and see you after season five Edited January 12, 2023 by Scraborn

I have noticed however that they let me go 2 years usually for young players and sometimes 3 for Sanmarinese young players from my academy. What I do is this: I sign a player on a 1 year contract, after 6 months I can offer him another contract for an extra year. At the end of the season I'll be able to extend one year further and at that point I can usually add a clause for an extra year in case of a league title or something. So the player come to my club on a one year contract but I can often manage to get him on a 4 year deal by the end of his first season. Rince and repeat for your entire team. 6499red
2022/23 Season Update A pretty dire season all told, we were in free fall for most of the 2nd half of the season. A 1-0 win due to a penalty against Corticella in the last weeks of the season made sure of us finishing above them - not that it was particuarly deserved. So we avoid last place by the skin of our teeth, and relegation only by the fact that this databse has no relegation from Serie D. Not being relegated feels like a bit of a cop-out, but as I play on a laptop and Eccelenza level is just too many leagues for me - I will have to accept my 'divine intervention'. I could alternatively restart - but given we're predicted dead last @ 250-1, that would likely not stave off 'ficitonal' relegation anyway - so my current plan is to continue with this save in its current form. I don't really see the point of saying any more, as I expect to see a large turnover of players this transfer window & hopefully nest season is much different. Also, if I can't get 6 points from the first 5 games next season - I'm sacked - so we will have to see if I survive. The national team, somewhat unsurprisngly, is doing even worse. from here on in I expect to put in minimum effort for a few years - as the players just are'nt good enough. G_D_K
Well...this wrapped up an abysmal Euro Qualifier for 2027.... Certainly not an easy group, and I wasn't expecting a lot....but I surely expected to score more than 2 goals in the campaign. If not sneaking a win against Azerbaijan or Israel. Well.... on to next year. If they give me a next year :P (I also lost all the ground in the world rankings I had moved up.... probably back to my starting spot of 205 again!) (Had risen to 194 in the early part of the year.) On a positive note, about 1/2 thru the season with Victor San Marino, and we're sitting in the playoff spots in our 2nd Serie C campaign. Hoping a recent run of poor results will turn and we'll push on up the table again. EDIT: Well, we didn't quite lose all the ground back to 205th, but we did drop back to 200th in the world rankings Edited January 19, 2023 by G_D_K
jerzy59
Hi everyone, here's the summary for my 8th season at Cosmos. Let's start with the unpleasant stuff first to get it out of the way I got Fm'd in the Trofeo Federale. Bit disappointed to see the streak of trophies broken but the silver lining is that there is obviously another Sanmarinese team capable of beating me, which could be really good down the line for the reputation of the League if Tre Fiori manages to win some European contests. No problem in the League though. 214 goals scored is a new record that will probably be hard to break. 51 goals for my top scorer, Badaloni that I presented in one of my previous post. My youngster Ceccoli (more on him later) scores 30. My goalkeepers scored a combined 19 goals because I have them take the penalty kicks. Nothing says that you respect your opponents more than getting your GK to take a penalty kick when the score is already 10-0. Other pro teams in the country are unsurprisingly following me with a fair bit of margin towards the non pro teams. Fiorita is also pro but they're really not doing anything with it. Note that every year I give millions to those pro teams by buying garbage players in the hope they'll use the money wisely towards their young player, but I'm still to see any benefit to this strategy. Oh, and I also won the Cup. I really struggled qualifying for the Group Stage in the Champion's League. I secured my qualification against Shamrock and Bodo/Glimt both times due to late goals. And then in the group stage I trashed much better teams like Lille or Fenerbahce. No clue why this happens and that's definitely not the first time I notice. But anyway, no complaint here. Financially the club is loaded due to those good European runs. As a result my European ranking is getting better and the reputation of the League improves. However I'm losing my spot in the second round of the qualifying process and I'll have to play an extra round again starting from 2031/2032. I guess the teams from the countries around me did very well last season. Key Players I'm really starting to shift my strategy here. When the game started I was relying a lot on foreign players with only 2 or 3 Sanmarinese players. I am now prioritizing young local players and I have now 10 of them in my main squad. Sometime I start them all in League games and they are performing brilliantly. I'll start this with my 3 best players then I'll move on to introduce the youg SM Gang. They're young, they're good and they're unhappy because I refuse every offer coming my way for them. Although I do have an extremely promising San Marinese Left AM so Socrates might be leaving the club soon. And now for the San Marinese youngsters ... Out of this bunch Finardi is very clearly the best. He's been in the national team ever since he showed up in my youth intake and will probably be a starter until he retires. For San Marino he's clearly a generational player. The rest of them are coming along nicely, they are a clear improvement compared to the players I started the game with and all of this has greatly helped improve the results of the national team. Youth Intake Unfortunately the youth intake was poor. I only signed 2 players and I doubt they will ever be good enough to be in the national team. San Marino Academy however has produced somebody extremely interesting. I immediately signed him, he's already in the national team, he's got potential and great determination and is another one of those kids that will be in my teams for the next 15 seasons. So with all those good young players, the level of the national team as really improved and I can now start qualifying games without assuming an automatic defeat. Both the Netherlands and the Ukraine draws are anomalies. I scored on my only shots on target as they were happy to try to manage a 2 goals advantage. However at this point, I'm not exactly surprised to take points from Montenegro or Lituania. Great campaign overall but I doubt I'll be able to reproduce those results in the near future. The team is getting better but getting 13 points out of that group feels like an anomaly. I played a playoff game to stay in the Nation's League group C and I've won it against Faroe. As a result of all this, I'm not sitting 171st in the World Ranking. Can't wait to play the next iteration of the Nation's League to see exactly what my team can do. Hopefully I can avoid relegation (which should be ok if it depends on a playoff anyway). That's it for today, see you next time.
Scraborn
Hello there, its time for another recap - season 5 is done Our top goalscorrer was again Marvin Pieringer - in the last two seasons he scorred 122 goals in all competitions and he feels like a cheat This season Felix Könighaus was our best assisting player, he plays as our left wingback - he assisted 27 times and he also scorred 21 times himself some of it where penalties and freekicks but it was a impressive year for him Its time to say goodbye to our Vicecaptain - Carlos Vela will retire after 2.5 years with 38 years of age - we will missour mexican, he isnt a regular starter anymore but featured from time to time and delivered good performances We had our first unbeaten year with 28 wins in 28 games with 138:15 goals and we will continue our dominance. We also manged to rise in the 5-years-rating to bring more teams to europe so atleast some money for some clubs We also won the cup and the supercup In europe we had our best run so far. In the Champions League we made it to the play offs and we lose to Galatasaray 1-5. So we competed in the Europa League after sending teams home like The new Saints, Düdelingen (LUX), Celje (SLO), Donezk and Astana. During the Leaguephase we manged to get 12 points with wins against Astana (4:0), AZ Alkmar (2:1) and FC Lausanne (2:1). We maged to draw the teams of Atalanta (3:3), Montpellier (1:1) and Fiorentina (3:3). But we lose Haifa (0:1) and against zhe basque bastion of Bilbao (1:4). Which took us to the Knockout round where we faced the danish team of Randers. The blue Horse beat us twice and we get back home after a 5:2 on aggregate. We were not performing good in both games because i thought we could turn it around after the 2:3 loss in Denmark. With San Marino the year 2026 we managed to win some friendlies but struggle against every other team in competitions After five years I wanted to show you some progression in the 5-years-rating and the growth of our fanbase Ourcabinet after the first 5 years looks like 5X Campionato Sammarinese 4x Coppa Titano 4x Super Coppa Sammarinese Thats all for now and see you after season 6 - Have fun and best regards

jerzy59
@G_D_K, @Scraborn I don't think the SM players here have a potential that's necessarily higher from the players that were coming from my academy in the first seasons (except for one). It's just that now I have state of the art facilities, a decent staff, custom trainings, tutoring and they're just in the best conditions I can give them to reach their potential. I'm also a bit unsure about what's happening at San Marino Academy. Because the club is playing in the Italian system, the game may very well generate their youth intake using the Italian youth rating.
jfmargolin
Greetings all. Clocked up 3000 hours on FM22 and I'm up over 700 already for FM23 and this challenge is.... well, exactly that, a real challenge. It's got my attention and putting me to the test which I needed. About my save. The Asorey brothers are doing the management triple: Carlos Asorey and Gianfranco Asorey are working to make San Marino something as right now it literally couldn't be worse. Carlos manages Cosmos in the Campionato Sammarinese di Calcio as well as being the San Marino manager. Gianfranco took over Victor San Marino down in the 5th tier which must be ironically named Eccellenza. Cosmos is the affiliate team for Victor SM which allows the brothers to work together. They also share scouting knowledge over a beer down at a place not far from where they grew up: Bar Piadineria La Capanna Two seasons in and it's been tough but successful. Season 1 saw Carlos take out both the cup and the Campionato but it was a close run thing until the end with Tre Fiori pushing all the way until the last few games. While Gianfranco had it much easier where a mix of loans and free agents saw him cruise to promotion: Which brings us to season two. Carlos found this year far easier and started to smash teams: Don't ask Carlos about the national team, he's started therapy to try and deal with what he's seen. Thankfully he had a great run in Europe this season which filled the coffers: With being an amateur club, there are basically no expenses apart from some scouting. Problem with amateur clubs though is that with any good players Carlos hires they get stolen within 6 months. Funny enough, between a zero wage and $1400 pw, players prefer the cash. With $2m in the bank, Carlos went to the club in November (before spending it on training facilities!!) and got approval to go professional at season's end: With not a bad wage and budget either!!: Meanwhile Gianfranco has just done this for back to back promotions, they're going up to Serie C next year!!: Victor San Marino are semi-pro which has been challenging. What surprised was this email: Moving up so fast is both a blessing and a curse. The club is nowhere near ready financially to mix it up with the teams in Serie C. For example: the average sponsorship at that level is around $1m while our sponsorship is at 120k. Our stadium capacity is 750 and all other teams in Serie C are 3000 plus with a requirement of 4000 in the league rules: We finish the season $300k in debt and I'm being given zero transfer budget and a salary for next year of 17k pw while most clubs in Serie C have between two and ten times that!! Will be hard to be competitive, but Gianfranco loves a challenge! Good luck with your saves, have enjoyed reading through the thread! G_D_K
It's 2028, and the San Marino National Team is starting to have a pulse: Notable addition to the squad: Mattia Santi, a 19yo fullback playing for Serie A Parthenope. I've been chasing him for 3 years, but he held out for an Italian callup. Finally he caved in after at least a half-dozen attempts to lure him to San Marino instead. Meanwhile, I had a notification that top scorer Nanni (23 national team goals) is retiring from football. With that, I was able to call up Victor San Marino's top all time goalscorer (90 goals so far) Enrico Sabba.... he's already paid off with 3 goals and 3 assists in the four friendlies so far this year. I only noticed in the 4th friendly that Nanni is actually still on the team, so I might still have him available for the upcoming European League Div C campaign --- we'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, the 5th season in charge of Victor San Marino has come to a successful conclusion. In our 2nd Serie C/B campaign, expected to be relegated, we managed to not just make the playoffs, but advance to the 2nd round before getting knocked out (4-2 on aggregate) to the Juventus U23s team. This is going to be a long slog in Serie C --- for those not familiar (I certainly wasn't) --- Serie C is divided into 3 groups --- each group consists of 20 teams. Only 4 teams are promoted to Serie B --- the 3 group winners, and a single playoff winner. The playoffs are played out over SIX rounds --- the first two single elimination, the rest (up to and including the semi-final) are double elimination. A total of TWENTY EIGHT teams compete for that final promotion spot! The higher you finish on the league table, the later you enter into the playoffs --- with the 2nd place team entering in the Quarter FInals, while the 5th-10th place start at the beginning --- so the key to winning the playoffs is finish as high in the league as possible! (That first round I played in featured 18 teams, 9 were knocked out -- 3 more teams entered in the 2nd round for 12 teams, 6 knocked out --- then 4 added for the 3rd round...... etc. So... long story short.... as I don't expect better than mid-table for the coming season or two.....promotion is going to be a huge ask! But, we're pushing on. The big concern will be finances..... my wage budget for the coming season was slashed from €22K to €18K/wk. Letting some of the older players go..... and bringing in some younger players whom I hope will stay with for a couple seasons. jerzy59
Hi everyone and welcome for this summary of my 9th season in this challenge. Transfers For the first time, I really spent some money in the Transfer windows this season. I tried to bring some young players for the future but also established players to just try to improve the team immediately. Next to that, I've lost a few players who have outgrown the club and were starting to create a bad atmosphere in the club. I've spent a lot more on the market than I've earned and I definitely won't be able to do that every year. I've also probably overpaid for some of those players (Castagnaro, in particular) but it felt like the time to really try to bring new blood in the team. Results Top of the League, as expected, but I have not scored all that much this season. In fact I had not scored so little since my 3rd season. Not too sure what it means considering the team is much better than it was back then. Maybe my players don't care all that much about scoring a ton of goals in the league. This was the first season for my young local kid Riccardo Ceccoli and he delivered, finishing top scorer with 46 goals (which is in the expected ballpark). I've also won the Cup and the Supercup I made it fairly easily to the Champion's League Group stage, where I had a really tough schedule. I took points to the weaker teams but I'm still nowhere near being able to take consistent points to the teams from the big leagues. And so, this was not enough to reach the next stage of the competition. The reputation of the league is going up and San Marino is now finding themselves between the Estonian Premier League and the JD Cymru Premier (Wales). Youth Intake Only one player showed up with potentially a role for the National Team in the future. Looks decent, good personality but unfortunately my staff is telling me his potential isn't that great. Hopefully he can improve to be number 3 or 4 in the hierarchy at his position. San Marino Academy has not produced anyone interesting this year, so overall, a bit of a setback and disappointment this year. I'm also starting to consider leaving my club, Cosmos, and start building another one. Not sure if it would be better overall to build another Sanmarinese team or if I should go to Victor San Marino. The latter seems to be the better option for the long game (more money, better league, better chances in Europe down the line) but I have not decided anything yet. I played the Nation's League group C and it's a bit of a mixed bag. Glad to beat Armenia twice but disappointed overall to lose to Montenegro considering I beat them twice during the previous World Cup Qualification campaign. We finish third, which is good enough for now. The Euro qualifiers have also started and it's tough so far. We're not getting hammered anymore but still losing to teams of that caliber. That friendly against Chad is the biggest victory in San Marino history so I got that going for me. The team currently sits 166th in the rankings. That's all for today, thanks for those taking the time to read and I'll see you soon for the 10th season.

Scraborn
Season six is done - A bit different this time cause i'm a bit late We again won all three domnestic competitions This season we had the best european stint so far and we reached the quarter final of the UEFA Europa League Lille won it in the end I found some good players First this is our new GK for the next season Danillo Damous is our new deeplying playmaker Finally we found a domnestic player for our future in Alex Cecchetti hopefully he will develop in a decent player in our back four. The last year was the worst so far for the national team. Lezs hope for a better year... But to end this with something positive. G_D_K
A massive boost to the San Marino national team. Found this winger playing for Nice in the french top division. Initially didn't want to come play for San Marino, but after a two-year pursuit, we finally convinced him to represent our nation. A

G_D_K
Today, a new instant hero has been born in Victor San Marino! Recently graduated from the VSM Academy, Gian Luca came on in the 74th minute of the 2nd round playoff match vs Cosenza. It took him barely two minutes (less than, even) to become the youngest ever goalscorer for the team (at 15y 250d) to break the deadlock between the two teams. He very nearly scored a 2nd only a minute later, forcing a sprawling save from the keeper. He DID get his 2nd on the ensuing corner kick, with a powerful header into the net. He then completed the route with a hat-trick goal in the 84th minute, sending the fans into rapture as we routed Cosenza (who finished 4th in Serie C/C) 3-0 and send us on to the third round for the first time in team history. A long ways to go yet to secure promotion, and we face Catania next (3rd in Serie C/C), but regardless of how we fare, the fans will always remember this match!
