Stuniverse
Saturday 26th April 2025 Preview: Grimsby Borough (Home) Northern Premier League Division 1 East I'll be honest, I was in two minds whether to rest the players who've played most of the season to give the fringe players a run-out but, with Grimsby Borough currently in the final playoff spot, I didn't think that would be fair to Stockton Town or in the spirit of the Northern Premier League Division 1 East. I'm bringing Tom Bell back onto the bench in place of Leigh Whelan. Otherwise it's the same matchday squad that lost to Sunderland Ryhope CA and I expect to see a much better performance from them.
Stuniverse
Saturday 26th April 2025 Belper Town v Grimsby Borough Northern Premier League Division 1 East Raygar Stadium, Belper - attendance 261 (4 away) -- I thought we thoroughly deserved the win and it was great to see the players bounce back after losing to Sunderland Ryhope CA last weekend with a comfortable victory over Grimsby Borough. Zack Clarke got us off to a fine start, heading us into a 4th minute lead. D'Andre Wainwright settled the nerves when he doubled our lead with a 69th minute header. As results would have it, we will host Grimsby Borough again in the semi-final of the playoffs. Edited April 6, 2023 by Stuniverse

Stuniverse
Saturday 26th April 2025 Ooooh, now that's sneaky, Mr Leahy Oooh, I've just seen what my Chairman of the Board, Mr Jason Leahy, has done. Can you spot it? After a required expectation for the season of "Reach the Northern Premier League Division 1 East playoffs" which we achieved... ... Mr Leahy has now snuck in a required expectation of "Win the Northern Premier League Division 1 East Promotion Playoff"... Now I can see why Belper Town are the favourites as we finished nine points ahead of 3rd place Consett and 15 points above 5th placed Grimsby Borough... ... but... ... does this mean that if we lose in the Playoffs, I get sacked because it's a required expectation? @Blarney @cerud @deltablue @dtown1414 @JaytheGreat @keeper#1 @KibworthBull @oche balboa @Pearomaniac @Punch @Richie Riley @samboing @warlock Edited April 6, 2023 by Stuniverse

cerud
Good job in the semis. With your owner adding that new playoff requirement to gain promotion, I think it would be harsh to get fired if you didn't get it. He added it without your consent. It wasn't agreed on during your initial season meeting. But then again, owners are rarely rational...

Stuniverse
Saturday 3rd May 2025 Preview: Grimsby Borough (Home) Northern Premier League Division 1 East Promotion Playoff Semi Final The pressure is all on us in this Playoff Semi Final. We are the home team and we finished 15 points ahead of Grimsby Borough in the Northern Premier League Division 1 East. We also did the double over Grimsby Borough, effectively winning 6-3 on aggregate, and beat them 2-0 at Raygar Stadium only last weekend. But all that means nothing. We start the game 0-0 today and if we're not at it, if we're not at our best, Grimsby Borough will make us pay. After beating Grimsby Borough 2-0 at Raygar Stadium last Saturday, I see no reason to change anything today. Stuniverse
Saturday 3rd May 2025 Belper Town v Grimsby Borough Northern Premier League Division 1 East Promotion Playoff Semi Final Raygar Stadium, Belper - attendance 675 (92 away) -- Grimsby Borough gave us a much tougher game than when we played them last week in the league. I guess, this is the playoffs, win or go home so you have to leave everything out there. And, credit to Grimsby Borough, they certainly did. I'm delighted we came out on top, particular in front of a bumper Raygar Stadium crowd of just under 700. The Nailers fans were incredible today and really helped the players. The first-half was end-to-end. We scored through Danilo Orsi-Dadomo and Grimsby equalised. We took the lead again when Aaron Kuhl scored direct from a free-kick, only for them to equalise again. After the break though we slowly wrestled control of the game. Danilo Orsi-Dadomo added two more goals for his hat-trick and a very satisfying 4-2 victory. We now have one more game this season, the Playoff Final back here at the Raygar Stadium on Tuesday night. Our players have been magnificent this season and they are now 90 minutes away from the promotion their hard work and commitment deserve. It's up to them to play like I know they can and get the job done.

Stuniverse
Tuesday 6th May 2025 Belper Town v Consett Northern Premier League Division 1 East Promotion Playoff Final Raygar Stadium, Belper - attendance 1,090 (422 away) -- I'm gutted, honestly I'm gutted, I feel sick. I'm disappointed for The Nailers supporters, over 600 of them here tonight in a massive crowd of over 1,000 but I'm mostly devastated for the players. They've worked so hard this season, finished 2nd by a country mile, and deserved to go up. But it just wasn't to be. Credit to Consett though. They kept the ball well, passed it around very neatly, and made it difficult for us to hold onto the ball. Consett took an early lead with an unbelievable strike from Tony Patience after only three minutes. Less than a minute later, we were level when Danilo Orsi-Dadomo finished off an excellent move straight from the kick-off. But then we suffered a massive blow when Sonny Best went off injured after only 10 minutes with what looks like ankle ligament damage. Aaron Kuhl came very close to giving us the lead when he hit the outside of the post with a free-kick. After the break, I felt we gave as good as we got and we created some chances, Consett created some chances. Unfortunately the one that mattered fell to Consett very late on and we were 1-2 down. We went Attacking after that, and pushed as many players forward as we could, but there wasn't enough time left for us to equalise. Congratulations to Consett. I'm gutted... and I think it'll take me a long time to get over this.

Cheers, @dtown1414 It largely depends though on whether any of these football clubs meet the criteria I set for this save in the very first post on Page 1. At first glance, I don't think any of them will be local enough... but, depending on where in the football pyramid they are, they may offer a salary which could change things. Based on the very quick analysis in the posts above, I don't think I'll be attending any of the interviews I've been offered. Seven of the eight teams will be playing in Tier 8 next season, the same level as Belper Town, and as they are all over an hour and 19 minutes away (some over two hours), I don't think I'll be leaving my local non-league club for them. I'll sleep on it, but the only one I'm a little tempted by is St Albans City who finished 6th in Southern League Premier South (Tier 7) last season, but unless they offer a significant salary to justify me giving up my full-time day-job and relocating it would be a no. 13 minutes ago, Stuniverse said: Wednesday 28th May 2025 Southern League Premier South (Tier 7) St Albans City - 115 miles, 2 hours 11 minutes

Stuniverse
On 07/12/2022 at 14:18, Stuniverse said: Coming soon... [FM23] Learning my trade in Derbyshire, Staffordshire and surrounding areas To make this save as realistic as possible, Stu Stuniverse will be a Sunday League Footballer (that's the level I played at) and will have no Coaching Badges (as I don't have any). What Football Manager jobs could I get? Probably none but, in FM23 terms, to maximise the realism, I will be using @lionel messi's excellent "England Level 10" custom database. Currently it is unlocked down to Level 8 but, I'm hoping, Level 10 will be unlocked before Christmas, meaning that I can start the save on my Christmas break, if not before. I'm really looking forward to this save as I've never done a long-term save managing at this level on FM before. But, maintaining the realism, I wouldn't be able to take just any job that comes up because I'd need to keep my day job and do the football managing in my free time for a negligible salary if, that is, I get a job that pays a salary at all. So, Stu Stuniverse will start the save unemployed and will only take jobs within easy travelling distance of his home in Derbyshire - hence the title of this save "Learning my trade in Derbyshire, Staffordshire and surrounding areas". Let’s say maximum one hour away according to Route Planner. This, essentially, means the following manager jobs: Level 10 Ashby Ivanhoe - 43 mins Aylestone Park - 56 mins Birstall United - 56 mins Dronfield Town - 38 mins Dunkirk - 39 mins Heath Hayes - 49 mins Hinckley - 1 hour 3 mins Hucknall Town - 29 mins Lutterworth Athletic - 1 hour 2 mins Newark Town - 55 mins New Mills - 1 hour 1 min Nuneaton Griff - 1 hour 7 mins Rainworth Miners Welfare - 36 mins Retford - 55 mins Rocester - 39 mins Rugby Borough - 1 hour 9 mins Shirebrook Town - 33 mins Stapenhill - 35 mins Staveley Miners Welfare - 27 mins West Bridgford - 40 mins Level 9 AFC Mansfield - 38 mins Anstey Nomads - 49 mins Atherstone Town - 59 mins Belper United - local Eastwood Community - 25 mins Heanor Town - 17 mins Heather St. John’s - 47 mins Leicester Nirvana - 1 hour 3 mins Lichfield City - 44 mins Loughborough University - 40 mins Lutterworth Town - 1 hour 2 mins Melton Town - 1 hour 7 mins Newark and Sherwood United - 48 mins Oadby Town - 1 hour 3 mins Quorn - 47 mins Rugby Town - 1 hour 9 mins Uttoxeter Town - 38 mins Level 8 Boldmere St. Michaels - 1 hour Carlton Town - 52 mins Chasetown - 51 mins Coleshill Town - 1 hour 3 mins Glossop North End - 1 hour, 13 mins Gresley Rovers - 43 mins Hanley Town - 59 mins Hinckley Leicester Road - 1 hour 1 min Kidsgrove Athletic - 1 hour 7 mins Leek Town - 51 mins Long Eaton United - 33 mins Loughborough Dynamo - 40 mins Macclesfield Town - 1 hour 7 mins Ossett United - 1 hour 6 mins Shepshed Dynamo - 41 mins Sporting Khalsa - 1 hour 6 mins Stocksbridge Park Steels - 58 mins Sutton Coldfield Town - 56 mins Level 7 Barwell - 1 hour 3 mins Basford United - 32 mins Belper Town - local Coalville Town - 48 mins Hednesford Town - 56 mins Ilkeston Town - 26 mins Matlock Town - 22 mins Mickleover - 19 mins Nuneaton Borough - 1 hour 6 mins Rushall Olympic - 57 mins Tamworth - 49 mins Vanarama National North Alfreton Town - 15 mins Buxton - 48 mins Vanarama National Chesterfield - 30 mins Notts County - 46 mins League Two Mansfield Town - 33 mins Walsall - 1 hour 5 mins League One Burton Albion - 28 mins Derby County - 19 mins Port Vale - 1 hour 9 mins Championship Nottingham Forest - 45 mins Stoke City - 53 mins West Bromwich Albion - 1 hour 8 mins Premiership Aston Villa - 1 hour 8 mins Leicester City - 57 mins Wolverhampton Wanderers - 1 hour 9 mins Notes: [1] I will do my best to stick to managing football clubs from that list but, it depends, how often those jobs become available and the "available" jobs for a Sunday League Footballer with no Coaching Badges will almost certainly rule out the majority of those teams - at least at the start of the save. [2] If Stu Stuniverse gets desperate, he may take a job with a longer commute than he'd like but, if that's the case, he'll almost certainly keep his eyes on the Job Vacancies for a job that will reduce his commute to something more acceptable. [3] If successful, and Stu Stuniverse reaches a level where he is earning a decent salary from being a football manager (let's, for argument's sake, say the default FM23 playable leagues), then he may start to cast his net further and farther when job hunting. *** UPDATE: we discover later in this save that there's a bug in the custom database I'm using that prevents football clubs in the lower leagues offering a salary to their manager. So, for the purposes of this save, we will assume that if a football club is playing in the default FM23 playable leagues (i.e. Vanarama National North / South and above) then the salary on offer would be sufficient for me to give up my full-time day job and relocate. *** -- [4] FA Cup - Football Clubs Tier 9 and above. JaytheGreat
A little late but I would have been surprised if they let you go, I've had a owner change their goals on me like that and failed while not getting fired.
