How do you create a playoff/tournament tree bracket in the game for custom comps?

Sometimes, competitions have a visible standard tournament tree/bracket to track results like this:

Team A -

Team B -    

                    Team B

                                         Team B

                    Team C

Team C -

Team D -

 

How do you get this to appear in the game? Sometimes it appears for me for custom comps, sometimes it doesn't.

You mean like this?

Just create the knockout phase in a single stage. IIRC the basic editor defaults to making every single round a separate stage, the tree view doesn't work if you do it like that. Instead the rounds should all be in the same stage.

And if you mean you want to see the full tree before matches have been played, change the draw dates for later rounds. In tournaments where rounds are drawn after a previous round ends you won't know who plays who in the next round until after that so it won't show on the tree until it's been drawn. If you set the draw dates earlier, you can even set every round to be drawn right at the start (like the Coppa Italia) then you'll be able to see in the tree who would face who for each round beyond the current one as well.

Interesting. The only way to create it like this for a custom comp would be to do it in Advanced Rules, right?

When i created Serbian lower leagues - all clubs MUST have city in their full name. So yeah

It also looks like the playoff tree is automatically created if the custom tournament is made in basic rules and not touched in advanced rules.
