Stuniverse
Saturday 1st December 2029 Viking (1st) v Åsane (11th) Eliteserien -- It was a lovely gesture by Tobias Linderoth to have his Åsane players give us a guard of honour as we made our way onto the pitch. We really appreciated that and I thanked Tobias for doing that, it was a nice thing to do. -- -- It was great to sign-off our Elitesserien Title winning campaign with an SR-Bank Arena victory in front of 15,500 or so Viking fans in a 15,715 crowd. Gaetano Oristanio was being rested. He only came onto the pitch on 61 minutes so for Gaetano to completely turn the game around with a hat-trick was mightily impressive. Yes. To be fair, had Abel Stensrud scored his 13th minute penalty the game may have been a lot more comfortable for us, but he didn't. Louis Fortin made a superb save to deny Abel and Louis went on to make a few more excellent saves before we finally found a way past him in the second half. Still 0-1 down after 69 minutes we changed to a more Attacking shape and mentality and it worked. It was great to get 45 minutes into the legs of injury recovering Martin Palumbo (groin), Oscar Bobb (hamstring) and Edvin Austbø (ankle). It was also great to be able to give young Joachim Prent-Eckbo a 90-minute run-out in front of the Viking supporters. Spoiler -- --

Stuniverse
Team Meeting Viking (Tier 1) v Fredrikstad (Tier 2) Norgesmesterskapet i fotball (Cupen) Final Ullevaal Stadion, Oslo -- This time I agreed with my assistant manager, Egil Ulfstein, and we did hold a team meeting. There is something special about a Cupen Final. You can't treat it just like a normal Eliteserien game because it is special. And, given we're playing a team from the division below us, we need to do everything we can to ensure the players don't underestimate Fredrikstad and become complacent. -- -- -- -- Edited March 24 by Stuniverse

Stuniverse
Sunday 9th December 2029 Viking (Tier 1) v Fredrikstad (Tier 2) Norgesmesterskapet i fotball (Cupen) Final Ullevaal Stadion, Oslo -- Eliteserien OBOS-ligaen -- -- -- Congratulations to Jakob Michelsen and his Fredrikstad team on winning Cupen but I honestly don't know how we didn't win it in 90 minutes and I cannot believe what I saw in extra-time. The first half went pretty much according to plan. We scored after only one minute forty-two seconds and doubled our lead on 21 minutes. Credit to Fredrikstad, they came at us in the second half, as they had to, and pulled a goal back four minutes after the restart. But we then took control of the second half and had plenty of chances to score a third. Håvar Jenssen was inspired in their goal and he made several excellent saves. We should've seen the game out but a mix-up at the back allowed Fredrikstad to equalisze. And so we went to extra-time and the madness set in. I can't explain it and I certainly couldn't believe it. Lasse Berg Johnsen elbowed an opponent and was deservedly sent off. We adjusted, made changes, and Brice Wembangomo scored a brilliant goal just before the end of the first period of extra-time to give us a 3-2 lead. It was a goal that deserved to win Cupen but it wasn't to be. Into the second period of extra-time, El Hadji Malick Diouf needlessly dived in two-footed, on the halfway line, and he's shown a red card as well. Down to nine-men, we went defensive and were holding our own. Edvin Austbø had a great chance to make it 4-2 but Håvar Jenssen made his best save of the game to deny him. A minute to go, Otto Rosengren gets caught in possession and Fredrikstad equalise. And so it was penalties. Martin Palumbo stepped up first and Håvar Jenssen saved his spot-kick. We scored our remaining four penalties, but Fredrikstad didn't miss and Cupen was there's. Fair play to them. I don't blame Martin one bit. He was brave enough to put his hand up and take the first penalty. I blame the two players who saw red. I have no idea what Lasse Berg Johnsen and El Hadji Malick Diouf were thinking. Who picks these Player of the Match awards? How can you possibly give it to El Hadji Malick Diouf when he did what he did for the most ridiculous red card when his team are 3-2 up and already down to 10-men? -- Edited March 24 by Stuniverse
Jogo Bonito
Congratulations on the league title, very well deserved. Stuniverse
1 hour ago, JaytheGreat said: What a rough way to lose a Cup Final The roughest, @JaytheGreat I still haven’t forgiven the two players who got sent off. Lasse Berg Johnsen and El Hadji Malick Diouf have a lot to do to win me round again and in Diouf’s case it’s unclear if he’ll get a work permit when his contract expires at the end of this coming season (2030). 1 hour ago, JaytheGreat said: atleast they had a nice bounce back win against Donetsk Yes, I was expecting a difficult game against Shakhtar Donetsk so that was a very pleasing victory. I really wanted the domestic double though so it was bittersweet. 1 hour ago, JaytheGreat said: Looks like have 2 quality reinforcements coming in for next season. I hope so, yes. One joins on the 8th January, the other on the 9th. Not sure if I’ll be able to play them in the UEFA Europa League though. Stuniverse
Wednesday 9th January 2030 Viking (Norway) v Portimonense (Portugal) Friendly Portimão Estádio, Portugal -- We expect the final friendly of our Portuguese Training Camp against Portimonense will be the most challenging and difficult. This will be our final friendly before we travel to Sporting Clube de Braga for our next UEFA Europa League match. Yorbe Vertessen probably won't get any playing time today as he's suspended for the Braga game but I would like to give our two new signings Preslav Borukov and Eivind Helland a run out if I possibly can. -- -- -- Another good pre-season win. Portimonense started the match strongly and we had to defend for a period but we weathered the storm and took control of the game. We comfortably 2-0 up after an hour when we made 11 changes. We then scored another before Portimonense put us under some intense pressure and pulled two goals back. In added on time though, we scored a fourth to make the final 4-2 scoreline look more comfortable than it actually was.
