Okay, this got extremely unenjoyable fast.

Missed many chances at home, got a pen for a handball in a corner.

Another corner cost us the first appearance in UCL. 2 shots on target in 2 games and we‘re out, tough to swallow tbh after two penalty losses in the past.

After taking some rest, I'm ready to run towards my fate.

This summer was rather uneventful for our squad – with only two changes in the starting 11 – both in defensive 4. Franjic and Mario both left for Saudi for 5M and 1.9M respectively.

The planned addition was Vitaly Klymenko from the Serbian League. To be fair, I was hesitant about him because of the jumping reach but he has already managed to score 3 headers.

image.thumb.png.d9e732eb83f3a77a25372722ecd36d65.png

Then, after selling Mario, I had to find another defender. I grew tired of my scheme and decided to try an Inverted Full-Back on the right. Please welcome David Brekalo. Almost 3M for 28 y.o. defender is not magnificent, but we gotta spend to stay on top (back then I was hopeful about UCL...).

Doing fairly well on the pitch. Lech, Legia, and Pogon were defeated, with Repka starring in the last game.

Unfortunately, the fans aren't hooked up yet, Lechia is still the lowest by far in season tickets sold. Let's see what a home battle against Sevilla will bring. Despite all the disappointment, we managed to get 8.5M in prize money already, and now it's time to sell some home tickets too!

Dariusz Pomorski is no Sam Altman, but the band loves him too!

After a long pause, the journey continues. Let's dwell on the past first.

Season 2027/2028 – Europe

Despite early struggles, this was our best European performance so far – the home loss to Besiktas was the only one we suffered during the entire League Phase.

image.thumb.png.a687c3e2121d50e48008692f08c5f09b.png

The draw was kind and we crushed Fehervar for the second time this season, but then suffered a close loss to Braga. Still, reaching the Round of 16 was quite an achievement.

image.thumb.png.e1dd59c0f5e2ac594a0cc2440b7a071c.png

18 coeff points for Lechia and 10 points for Poland haven't moved our nation upwards in the rankings – I'm certain this is the last season Ekstaklasa delegates only 1 team to CL.

Season 2027/2028 – Domestic

We won the cup! Arka, our archrival, was outplayed by our reserves in the second round.

image.thumb.png.6a625c5baa6cde0f1b4fe32daad57866.png

Then we faced two of the best teams – Legia in the semis – who, to be honest, dominated us throughout most of the game, but fell short in the end.

image.thumb.png.3aa4e106641b6d3dedfdd4fdb3c7bbc8.png

The pattern in the final was similar – we conceded but then two late goals turned the game upside down.

image.thumb.png.f60b369653dd61652fd8876f1b4c2801.png

A beautiful strike by our winter addition Edin Maric (who replaced Anderson because of his season-ending injury) equalized the game, and then Pogon's own Lukasz Skiba got us the trophy!

image.thumb.png.b281bf4a6fb7e70ae5178b12b45b66f6.pngimage.thumb.png.68f327286b29689779ae0b5d7aa53892.png

The league, though, was not a cakewalk for us at all. Throughout the first half of the season, we were among the contenders, but playing twice a week proved to be too much of a challenge for us once again. We need to be deeper and improve physically to compete in the league. Earning 20 points fewer than in the previous season is nothing but a disappointment.

Glad to see someone has the same journey as myself, although Scottish I spend a lot of time in Gdansk and follow the team closely, I started my save a few weeks agao and now into the February transfer window. sitting in second in the league (1 point of top) but a few teams a point behind me, next game is QF of the cup against Poznan :-]  Zjawinski has been a machine so far for me with 20 goals although now having his head turned. You have any idea why Dusan Kusiak cannot be registered until the following summer? he is on big money and a legend goalkeeper at the club you can't use in first season.

Good luck with your journey

Nice to learn that you're enjoying the career too! Good luck in QF, Lechia's squad is strong enough from the start to progress even past that.

I've tried to figure out what happened with Kusiak but to no avail – Transfermarkt states that he is away from the team, but no specific reason is given. Having him would've saved many of my nerves early on :)

2028/2029 (Season 6) – Outgoing Transfers

The past season once again showed that our current squad was unable to perform consistently across all competitions. We have more than enough attacking players in rotation, but other positions are not that deep. Moreover, despite reaching the Round of 16 in EL, the club only has around 2M available for transfers. Bringing impactful free agents has become increasingly difficult as our talent level has grown. To be able to spend more we had to make a few tough sells.  We did indeed.

image.thumb.png.c76cdba5c57b02b91b89181f077a8db6.png

First and foremost, we say our farewells to the local icon, Ronaldo Tavares. 76 goals and 20 assists in 126 league games were immense – he was a top goalscorer for 3 straight seasons.

Pedro Pelagio was the backbone of our center and served as captain in the last season. However, he is 28 already, and leaving for the Championship made sense.  Nadiem Amiri, an engine of our 4-4-2, was a great pairing for Pelagio, but I was focused on changing the way we see the game. The highest earner clause started to worry me too. Rafel Obrador, a crafty left-back, the first of many among Castilla recruits, got himself an excellent deal, a new record fee received for the club.

Before the introduction of our additions, a few words have to be said about the offers that haven't led to eventual transfers.

Robert Musial had an up-and-down season last year, mixing up horrendous mistakes with epic penalty stops. Reading offered 12M, and the board accepted, however, the player chose to stay. Even though I have almost given up on him ten thousand times, his attributes make him our most talented player (maybe even in the whole league). One day he can be as good as Wojciech Szczęsny.

image.thumb.png.9025a3cbb822068268aee8162db9cc38.png

Janis Antiste truly restarted his career in Gdansk. He is not as impactful as Ronaldo and of course not as skilled as Karim Benzema, but a very good team piece nonetheless. Despite blasting at the start of the season, he refused to join Stuttgart for 9M and stayed with us to compete.

image.thumb.png.976a2be27a50b07b6eae1bb53417893c.png

Klymenko might be the hardest one to keepAlthough no team has offered agreed 8M, his contract has less than 2 years left on it, and the winter is coming.

2028/2029 – Incoming Transfers

Well, it's 4-2-3-1 Gegenpress time! :lock:

image.thumb.png.a171dcb6c2cca450c83a5870d9c2766e.png
image.thumb.png.af174fefce23b0ef666cd7a5241c7075.png

You've just met Musial, Klymenko and Antiste. Kofi Balmer is our captain now and started his 4th season in a white-and-green uniform. Skiba and Nielsen are the young stars learning to play on different wings. Now let's proceed to the additions.

Ethan Laird is another free agent who decided to join us. As we almost exclusively played IFB on the right, having a player of his physical abilities will give us more power on the flank.

image.thumb.png.6df7e1b9daed56cd1b84b76aad1532aa.png

Selling Obrador left us with the hole on the left – even though we can use a few guys as IFB there, there was no true wing-back on the team. At least, until Marek Urbanski arrived (it was so late that he was not registered for EL). A lot there to learn for him about the game (e.g. how to play on the left :)), but his pace and mindset are outstanding for 19 y.o.

image.thumb.png.d95073a34a13e5a6bdb605d49afc1fdc.png

Montolio, Roncevic and Zendejas form our new center. All three are excellent passers and pretty dynamic, although not as hard-working as I would like.

Screenshot2023-12-13at17_55_34.thumb.png.e699ff32ce2423e5a406f92037240d3a.png

We have made efforts to secure the future. This time the clause was activated for Lech's player – let's see if he will break through to the starting 11 by the end of the season.

image.thumb.png.81e6ffd304f2edaccd0fe8c564d47355.png

Overall, I'm quite excited by the summer improvements, but it would take time to rebuild the chemistry and tactical understanding for sure.

2028/2029 – First Results

As some of our players left for the first international break of the season, let's look at how the game treats us so far.

image.thumb.png.de17b42c49bdfdfa389cd7fa12dcb94b.png

We have managed to reach the Europa League proper fairly easily, with Leuven being the most challenging opponent. Alas, we are not doing so great in groups so far, losing to Slovan while dominating and drawing the Gent game at home because of the late slip.

Belgium is currently in 15th place, right above us – getting there would give us 2 teams in UCL qualifications. It is highly unlikely we'll do it for next season since only Legia advanced to groups (and they are in UCL, so getting more points is challenging). Anyway, eventually it is happening, we need to earn the megaTV deal!

Screenshot2023-12-04at18_52_07.png.99624538dddc56274a920b0254075bcd.png
image.thumb.png.855e6e2f894a31db81e6cf1dfe0f852a.png

On the domestic front, things are going smoothly. Losing the SuperPuchar to Legia is no surprise, we put up a good fight tho. Losing to Cracovia being 2-0 ahead stinks, but we were the 2nd best team in the game by far. Excited to return to management, see you soon!

HappyNY.webp.2d589bd484bc1db7d283f252f21c4d38.webp

So, what made me take such a long pause?

Our best striker, Lucas Nielsen, decided to leave for Saudi, declining a contract offer from Atletico Madrid which would've netted us 18M straight up!

image.thumb.png.848a1dfe09afb546d67890bb17cb1ac2.png

The Saudi deal has only one advantage though – 50% from the next transfer. To cash in on that we have to push forward. So let's look at the first half of the season and move on.

The League

image.thumb.png.0a081af5a01b6bcdb2a3a879252af872.png

A two-team race is still on, but our comeback win at home was a gem of the fall.

image.thumb.png.cd9c4954f72311bcd6fe85f951e29c95.png

Europe

For a second year in a row, Lechia will feature on a playoff stage of the Europa League. Unfortunately, we got the toughest possible draw, Real Betis. Knocking them out is a loooong shot, especially without Nielsen.

image.thumb.png.9eab90e6e1ce4c98d941c98bbda22216.pngimage.thumb.png.9eab90e6e1ce4c98d941c98bbda22216.png

No incoming transfers are planned, and all business will be conducted after the season ends. Thanks to the summer sale and Nielsen's departure, our finances are becoming more stable. Let's see if his clause will get activated (or at least bought out). See you soon!

27700 fans witnessed the win, and Lechia broke a receipts record.

2028/2029 – Season 6: Spring

Let's jump in right where we left off – the Round of 16 matches vs. Borussia M. The Unbelievable density of events in the first 20 minutes shocked the home crowd.

Screenshot2024-02-19at22_18_39.thumb.png.bd26db653ae159db46c8604e1f0dbe8c.png

A new record was set – more than 30000 people visited Polsat Arena that night.

Screenshot2024-02-17at13_50_52.thumb.png.2670c24092d9c701f35b65755a7b9b4b.png

Lechia drew away the game 1-1 fairly easily and advanced to a 1/4 Final of the Europa League for the first time!

Valencia was a tough matchup, we were in the mix in both games but eventually fell short at Mestalla.

Screenshot2024-02-19at22_19_01.thumb.png.498dd107f303dfafa557381fc135af58.png

The League Battle

As you know, the first half of the season was extremely intense – the reigning champs from the capital were just 2 points behind when winter came.

A winning streak complimented our march through the EL playoff during February and March – 8 in a row.

Screenshot2024-02-19at22_33_52.thumb.png.471cb9ae60f5a34043d1376890e21a57.png

The craziest game by far was against struggling Rakow. By the 80th minute, we were at a 2-4 deficit, but mounted a tremendous comeback from the dead nonetheless.

Screenshot2024-02-17at09_36_54.thumb.png.a5671ac5d3c08e660da0930811f3acb4.png

I felt nothing could stop us from taking the title back from Legia. Well, at the beginning of April, the two midweek games vs. Valencia and a couple of injuries caused the extensive rotation. A crushing defeat from Jagellonia at home followed. 3 days later our Europe run was over too.

Screenshot2024-02-18at15_00_43.thumb.png.9036469e403f45d22b841ae3c7dc8d03.png

Only 4 points were between us and Legia now. Nothing crazy, but a comfortable handicap anyway. We just had to keep on winning.

Screenshot2024-02-18at15_11_27.png.c57173f08c6cad45488a9c8e4071645b.png

Of course, crazy things began to happen. In the next two games, marked by total domination of Pomorski's team, Lechia got 2 points.

Screenshot2024-02-18at15_45_301.thumb.png.da1f5f6f8eea1f18d75f0d109a96dde1.pngScreenshot2024-02-18at20_22_47.thumb.png.bff42e443779426326fdb1fd37735fef.png

Our rival, Legia, had their loss too, the 3-point lead still was there after this turbulence. However, in Matchday 33, second to last, Legia hosted the match against us. Pomorski leaned on a conservative tactic that proved itself well vs. superior teams like Valencia and Borussia – keeping the ball and not forcing things too much. Still got a loss though. A close one barely deserved one, but still a loss.

Screenshot2024-02-18at21_23_26.thumb.png.13219daf1e7a47b223735dcbfed5c678.png

The only advantage left after the game is the goal difference. The title nearly floated away from us. The last chance to save the season.

Screenshot2024-02-18at21_24_17.png.3c90c8b1acce24bda22e20becb852c28.png

What made the fall more dramatic for Pomorski is that Poland is expected to finish 16th in the Coefficient race. Only the champion will represent the country in the Champions League qualification next season.  No room for error.

Summer 2029 – Outgoing Transfers and Farewell

Lukasz Skiba, who was instrumental in the title-clinching game and won the Best Young Player of Season award, left for Leicester for 12M. We will forever remember his aerial prowess and work ethic. His brilliant clutch goal in the 2028 Polish Cup final is a testament to his dedication. Farewell, Lukasz!

Screenshot2024-02-20at13_28_43.thumb.png.f2b5cadffa13f70fa51f51918f0f1e17.pngScreenshot2024-03-02at11_25_50.thumb.png.7650cd8a25b5898875c433d15119b0a2.png

This transfer set a new fee record for Polish clubs – we are on the way to 50M someday in the future!

Screenshot2024-02-20at18_41_49.thumb.png.5991aeec6b4e8e9d36a054402f3a38ba.png

Our glorious captain, Kofi Balmer is also heading to the English Premier League. For four seasons in Gdansk, he was a cornerstone of our defence. He is returning to the foggy islands with two national titles and deep continental runs in his backpack. All the best, Kofi!

Screenshot2024-02-21at13_13_56.thumb.png.89135509ee2dbe7fc962728d4ee4240c.pngScreenshot2024-03-02at11_35_45.thumb.png.feea2579d8202dea7fa05237651c30b5.png

Masimo Roncevic joined Lechia just a season ago. An exceptionally technically gifted player, his passing was a joy to watch. Sadly, despite being a regular starter, he was not showing signs of rapid development, especially as a hard worker in the midfield. My hope is the Spanish style of play would suit his game better. Adios!

Summer 2029 – The Tactical Shift and Incoming Transfers

Two Lucases (Skiba and Nielsen) departures left Pomorski with no quality options on either wing. Rather than bringing direct replacements, Lechia enters a new season with an unusual structure: 4-1-2-1-2. Wingbacks will take far more attacking responsibilities than ever before, even though there would be no Ronaldo to turn crosses into automatic goals.

Screenshot2024-03-08at12_04_01.thumb.png.1c46ff8f1f1a37f604d94532840c6511.png

Let's examine new faces!

Bogdan Florica, a talented can-do-all from Romania, has deservedly become the most expensive player in our history with a 4.2M clause activated. It's not quite clear which role he would eventually assume in Pomorski's scheme, though his potential is obvious.

Screenshot2024-03-08at12_11_00.thumb.png.8b9c486af73d071d1f46eb9c37a24ca0.png

Another activated clause (just under 1M) brought us Idan David, a master finisher from Israel. His agent was so tough through the negotiations that David kept his release clause after the transfer, the sum is now at 3M. We will look to renegotiate it if things go well (oh boy)

Screenshot2024-03-08at12_08_09.thumb.png.a661a533a3babda0705bc803ccfb614c.png

That's all for tactical adjustments. However, since Balmer and Roncevic left too, there are newcomers at the centre-back and in the midfield too. Kensuke Kawabe hopes to revitalize his career after a short stint in Leverkusen. In the last six years, the Bundesliga's troubled sons have been excellent for us on the Baltic soil.

image.thumb.png.a68dd5eecdc7337bccb0cb7cb46cca78.png

Naouirou Ahamada provides balance and energy to our attacking-minded midfield, joining on a free transfer.

image.thumb.png.e257199c88b655d110962fa5a24e359b.png

Our struggles during the last couple of seasons due to participation in European competitions haven't gone unnoticed as we significantly improved the depth as well. Two central defenders, two quality wingbacks and two midfielders (Zielinski from Napoli among them) will allow Pomorski to rotate the squad far more freely in the upcoming season.

image.thumb.png.3973f05bab4bfeed1c07dd800ff0361d.png

The Superpuchar 2029

The refreshed squad had no trouble crashing the Cup Winner – Radomiak – at the Polsat Arena. A confident penalty finish from the new captain Antiste and a fabulous free-kick strike from David brought the Supercup back to Gdansk.

Dear Lechia Gdansk Supporters,

Visualize a jubilant fan in a crowded stadium, celebrating Lechia Gdańsk's victory and advancement in the Champions League. This scene is set at night, under the bright floodlights. The fan, center stage, is wearing the team's iconic white and green striped jersey, with a scarf showcasing the same colors. Their arms are raised in triumph, face beaming with pure joy, possibly shedding tears of happiness. Emphasize the Champions League logo prominently in the scene, maybe on a giant screen in the background or on the fan's attire, amidst a vibrant atmosphere of celebration with confetti falling around. Surrounding fans also celebrate, creating a sea of white and green.

We stand at a defining moment in our club's history, having secured our first-ever Champions League group stage appearance. Our playoff against Antwerp showcased the strength and spirit of our team. The away game ended in a gripping 2-2 draw, with pivotal goals from our new signings, David and Florica. The return leg at our home ground was nothing short of spectacular, as we dominated Antwerp 4-0, surpassing even our memorable performance against Real Betis in the last Europa League.

image.thumb.png.4eae70dcae2443c3cc1b6043f1ae3dff.png

This triumph follows closely on the heels of a challenging match against Ruch in the league, where despite numerous opportunities, we couldn't clinch victory.

image.thumb.png.b4a79f2f9a869e63657f0a48563c4864.png

The road to the Champions League has been fraught with near misses in the past, making this achievement even more remarkable. Our previous attempts were heartbreakingly close, with dramatic losses to Ludogorets and Omonoia.

image.thumb.png.dc07fb74628a2902397a4175c7f30814.png

Now, as we step into the Champions League proper, we're striving to deliver unexpected upsets. We look forward to hosting Arsenal, led by the esteemed Pep Guardiola, and competing at Old Trafford against Diego Simeone's Premier League champions. This is more than a step forward; it's a giant leap for our club. Our financial outlook is brighter, our spirits are higher, and our future is filled with promise.

image.thumb.png.101885fbc650cf66fba1e5bc890f2cc9.png

Thank you for your unwavering support. Together, we march forward into this new chapter of Lechia Gdansk's storied history.

With pride and anticipation,
Dariusz Pomorski

What are your season tickets sales like ?
In my save Lechia seems to be broken, and despite getting into top5 almost every season they never sell more than 700 season tickets

This grass is not greener in the UCL so far...

Two identical corner combinations killed our chances in Round 1.

@RoguPL Season ticket sales have been gradually increasing, but even after winning 3 titles, being 2nd (after Legia) Polish team by reputation and having decent attendance, they are comically low indeed.

Let's see if I can get to 700 after CL and (hopefully) another title in the bag. For now, I dream to reach 35k in attendance against Arsenal :)

I wonder whether the season tickets situation is influenced by the fact Polsat Gdansk arena in-game is owned by the city council rather than the club. We'll find out when I have the funds to buy out the stadium.

The First UCL Victory

Three-and-a-half years after Dariusz Pomorski's initial European campaign ended in Piraeus, a completely revamped Lechia Gdansk achieved their first-ever Champions League group stage victory. None of the featured players were at the club back then, but the development and growth Lechia has achieved are incredible.

Screenshot2024-04-10at11_53_25.thumb.png.58f3b12994ceff58ba5d80976bf3b717.png

This triumph was highlighted by key contributions from Marek Urbanski and Janis Antiste, both returning from injuries, with Urbanski's precise cross to the captain for the opening goal. Jordan Day, a deadline loan signing, secured the win with an extraordinary long-range strike that found the net off the crossbar and won his first MotM trophy.

The next UCL game is expected to become the most high-profile event ever held at Polsat Arena – Pep Guardiola and his Arsenal lead all 36 teams after two rounds. Stay tuned!

I don't think it would matter as the tickets would come directly from the club ?
However I agree that something is wrong with this. A club from such a big city as Gdansk is and 2nd biggest stadium in the league can't sell 700 tickets, weired. I think after your success you fans should come on a bandwagon and buy the tickets.

I am tempted to do a save with them with an objective to sell 1k season tickets

It's fascinating we have 13k+ on the waiting list though :)

The attendance growth has been decent (clearly impacted by the higher numbers in European competitions), so I'm not going to dwell on season tickets too much

That's still lower than what I'd expect Lechia to have with the sort of results you're achieving. Given the potential of the city alone, I'd say you should already be averaging something between 25-30k for regular league games and sell out for the big ones and obviously Europe.

Speaking of attendance, 35706 spectators were present at the Arsenal game! Coming closer to that Justin Timberlake concert – beating his number is one of the goals for this save.

However, it seems quite unlikely that the record attendance will be reached this season... We were putting on a fine defensive display for a whole hour, but Declan Rice's longshot killed our chances to earn some points at home.

The Arsenal game was just the second one above 30k in the 7 seasons so far. Regular European games are usually 20-25, depending on the opponent.

I feel like the best chance to sell out the stadium to play vs. Arka somehow :D, but they've been confidently stuck in the 1. Liga.

Still curious about the possibility of buying out the stadium but since its construction cost alone was more than 200M, I can only imagine the length of the grind. Keeps me going tho!

Just to add a bit more context: right after the Arsenal we had a homer against Legia – the biggest rival during this save. Under 22k showed up :stop:

A chaotic battle of the Greens in Lisboa ended in a draw after a late equalizer. Nevertheless, Lechia earned a point away from home versus the leader of Portugal football.

An incomprehensible act of aggression from Ahamada left us in utter shock. Despite putting all of our passion at full display, a questionable penalty was way too much to overcome tonight.

Screenshot2024-04-12at22_46_13.thumb.png.af6dc6135bc267cb337929ff2735b17f.png

Unfortunately, these two losses have almost certainly ended our European season.

image.thumb.png.93eb5e8dc5b0da47a31abf4de8893483.png

On such a disappointing day, let us hail an excellent display from Robert Musial, who kept our Green hopes high for so long. I dare say he is the most talented player in the whole Polish league atm and has enough potential to challenge Peter Cech as the best Slavic keeper of all time soon.

Season 7 – 2029/2030: Winter Sells and UCL

Since the last two games of the League Phase take place in late January, the first challenge Lechia faced this winter was numerous transfer offers for our top players. It's in our values restrict keeping unhappy players against their will, so I have two mid-season departures to announce.

Screenshot2024-04-13at13_24_01.thumb.png.43c43d76c8b2c719ac7ba9f2da77f630.pngScreenshot2024-04-13at13_35_18.thumb.png.5f04dc3e89f285c6f652e0c0b7b3a782.pngScreenshot2024-04-13at13_32_25.thumb.png.629d29c9f21167a21a7f51d45ddfbc8d.png
Per my assistant's projections, both defenders have reached the peak of their talent at such a young age. Alles Gute in Bundesliga, Marek und Vitaliy.

On a positive note, the finances look excellent allowing us to invest even more in the facilities.

UCL – Rounds 7&8

Despite generous compensations, losing half of our starting defenders had an impact on our short-term pitch performance. Even more so, right before the Old Trafford game, Robert Musial damaged his wrist in a friendly match and was ruled out for three weeks. A 16 y.o. Ryszard Maslanka was set to debut at such an iconic arena!

Screenshot2024-04-13at13_56_50.thumb.png.45b6d5a77a7d34fa16c9571097f79dde.png

And oh boy, did he deliver the goods that night! Another unforgettable performance from an even younger keeper at Old Trafford... brought us zero points once again.

The last home game against the Scotts was totally unremarkable – a lacklustre play officially ended our first UCL run.

Screenshot2024-04-13at14_15_55.thumb.png.6b2a52c28b18cb4d0c12cc55876483d9.png

Not much to say, honestly – we overperformed our level of talent on some nights but it did not seem to matter this season. Let's see what the future will bring.

image.thumb.png.bf2aedde5d11988a978c6dfcebc66fa8.pngimage.thumb.png.bf2aedde5d11988a978c6dfcebc66fa8.png

The Cup

We suffered a shocking early ending a second year in a row against the worst team of Ekstraklasa. A fully rotated squad proved itself too risky of a tactic, so expect a different approach next season. Lechia don't possess a collection of silverware of such scope that would make the Cup an insignificant addition.

The League

It has to go well somewhere, right? A fairly unchallenging first half put us in a prime position for the first title repeat.

The only draw since August happened against Legia but even that night we dominated a fair share of the game.

Let's streamline to the title! See you summer!

Season 7 Finale – Niepokonani

The imbalance transfer windows hit us this year once again – last time we lost our best attacker Nielsen in 2029 to Saudi. This January two of our best defenders, the left-wing Urbanski and the centre-back Klymenko departed to Eintracht and Leipzig for 10M and 13M respectively. These deals were too good to reject for both the club and the players (Klymenko is already a starter at RB). However, replenishing these holes during February was nearly impossible, and Lechia had to find internal defensive resources to avoid the title race from last spring.

Matchday 30. We are away at Pilsudski Stadium in Warsaw, fighting off the pursuit of Legia. Bogdan Florica, too exhausted to start the game, led an incredible second-half comeback, on par with the Istanbul miracle itself!

Screenshot2024-04-16at00_06_57.thumb.png.ca63ca30852fcafdfb2acedf8b9bef60.png

After such an inspiring performance in Warsaw, we were in full control till the end. The second title in a row secured!

Lechia-2030 tied Widzew-1996 as the second team in modern Polish history to complete an unbeaten league season and reach 88 points.

Looking with optimism into the future with a new owner from Scandinavia. Our cooperation with the club in the north is expected to expand considerably. Mr. Sorensen requires the club to stick to an attack-minded, entertaining brand of football to sell 500 season tickets (I wishhh) finally.

Summer 2030

First of all, I'd love to say farewell to my assistant Pavlo Yakovenko, who has been instrumental during the entire run here at Lechia.

Summer 2030 – Team Reintroduction

Before jumping into the eighth season with Lechia, I'd like to say a few words about every player who'll be part of the team this year.

Defence

The upcoming season is the fifth in our uniform for Robert Musial. Probably the most talented Polish player of his generation, he still has yet to debut for the national team (which reached 1/8 of the WC just a few weeks ago). His intelligence and reactions, as well as confidence inside the box, saved us many points. Despite the rough start, he is unquestionably number one for seasons to come. But why does he seem unhappy?

image.thumb.png.96b188d275f3dcb5bfa5d5a8a5867d5d.png

Ethan Laird, an Old Trafford native, joined us as a free agent two years ago. His decision marked a tactical shift in the Pomorski Era: before that, Lechia almost exclusively attacked through the left, utilising the right-back role for controlling counters rather than creating width. Laird with his speed changed all that: for the last two seasons, Lechia had two attacking wing-backs. Urbanski is already in Frankfurt, so will this trend be sustained?
image.thumb.png.26edd255df353fde9e489c03bebb2d15.png

200K for a reserve inverted defender from Madrid is not a terrible price, right? Jacobo Ramon had played for Castilla his whole career but in the winter of 2028, he chose Baltic snow instead of home sunshine. His feel for the game always seems underutilized, and Jacobo was getting more and more chances in all defensive roles. Last season, he finally secured his place as a cover defender in the centre and continues to compete for the spot, while Laird now occupies the right flank.

image.thumb.png.2eb1fa047fbbed6717248e3e8d6e54d9.png

Just a few months after Ramon, his junior partner from Real agreed to give it a try in Gdansk. What a career-making move for Montolio. Just for 250K Pomorski got an excellent controlling midfielder with incredible passing and tackling. Fantastic #6, while no Busquests in seeing between the lines, he is a crucial part of our midfield. However, Pomorski is now obsessed with improving the first stages of the build-up structure. Instead of looking at the transfer market for passing-first defenders (so hard to find them at this level), the manager suggested that Montolio move down the pitch and become the deep playmaker from the first line of play.

image.thumb.png.696a2f193569259e77875f43c21607dd.png

Eric Kahl, who spent almost all of his career at Aarhus, joined the club as a free agent this summer. The Scandinavian connections of Mr. Sorensen, the new owner, are at work. Eric is an all-rounded, consistent player, who will bring the necessary balance to our left flank, which lacked stability after the departure of Urbanski.

Midfield

Shifting Montolio to the centre-back position means we needed a new defending midfielder. Adrian Savu has become our biggest acquisition this offseason, 4M from Cluj. Excellent defender who just turned 20, he will provide physicality to balance the intelligence of Montolio and Ramon. Time will tell if he's going to be our Romanian Kante.

Screenshot2024-06-19at15_13_531.thumb.png.5e9872d43b88e60fe7fe823ffdeabedd.png

Naouirou Ahamada was brought as a free agent to replace Nadiem Amiri last summer. He has played in many places and divisions throughout his career, but no one ever thought he was going to be a star. Every team needs someone like Ahamada, but I doubt eleven Ahamadas will ever win a Champions League, even under Jose's guidance.

image.thumb.png.288fe253fa73319ab338a69fc6fb27ab.png

And the most posh acquisition of the summer goes to Harvey Elliott. No need for further introduction for the hero from the Anfield. Unable to break through into the starting eleven at home, he spent last season in Florence, but it was no place to rehabilitate a declining career. Harvey will make around 15% of the entire wage bill and he's better be worth it.

Attack

Let me present our most expensive transfer ever, Bogdan Florica, who joined the club last summer for 4.2M. It would not be an understatement to say that he is a key piece to our unique tactical approach.  Getting the ball in the pockets of space and then making magic happen is what he does as a shadow striker. Bogdan has untapped potential to become one of the best players in the world and started the season incredibly well performing in different roles while our other strikers were injured.

image.thumb.png.dd90e8310a9ba8bca44663ea42865219.png

Oskar Jajkowski is an ideal linking element in our offence. He masterfully creates spaces and finds the pacey partners with passes. 14+9 in the last Ekstraklasa is proof of that.

Screenshot2024-06-19at16_37_25.thumb.png.5bad6f8a3f61d85bc17f27cb1cfa7109.png

Finally, the best player of the last season and our newly appointed captain, Idan David. A natural-born goal-hunter, he is a unique talent in that regard, scoring 24 league goals in his first season in Europe. The speculations about his transfer to one of the major leagues have never stopped since he joined, but Idan still plays for our fans at Polsat Arena. At least, for this fall. Don't you miss it!

Reserves

Our ex-captain, Janis Antiste, is the most experienced player at the club. The younger stars one by one took all the starting spots, but there will be plenty of opportunities for the French man to demonstrate he is still a threat to opposing defences.

Screenshot2024-06-19at18_14_33.thumb.png.91c4bbe86eee61fed35eaa3d8d0769d8.png

Oussama Abdalas, a promising free-agent addition, doesn't have a role carved up for him. Whether he'll be one of the defenders or develop skills to play in the midfield, Oussama is clearly a signing for the future.

image.thumb.png.bbc1cb7e5c81f2df393f036464051382.png

A dribbling specialist Zoran Alilovic also joined us as a free agent as Lechia was desperate to build a viable attacking rotation with all the injuries.

image.thumb.png.1878847d0cebba4fa25b3ee78ad93c20.png

Of course, Repka and Kawabe, our young talents, are still at the club, while Zavhorodniy, one of the gems from the past season, decided to join Sunderland.

image.thumb.png.e012f404ae337ae950b84ecc20129ebc.png

Tactics

Pomorski will continue to rely on the narrow 4-1-2-1-2 formation as a primary option, transforming the defence as 5-at-the-back on some occasions

.
image.png.02df1a579acea05856f0f421dfd5d279.png

Having no wingers forces us to rely on wing-backs to create width through byline crosses, but the issue of defending balance between two flanks is now as acute as ever. The three attackers have developed excellent chemistry, but any injury or a run of a bad form is a grave danger for us.

Season 8  – A Dream for a Threepeat – Summer 2030

We celebrated the start of the 2030/2031 season with the destruction of Rakow in the Superpuchar. Unfortunately, Idan David got injured and missed around 4 weeks after completing a hat-trick.

image.thumb.png.c65c3d2c9f863a03ff853dc39cb66201.png

Now with David and Jajkowski both missing, we started the Ekstraklasa with a series of rather unimpressive 2-1 victories, but the last one allowed us to break a record for an unbeatable streak.

Screenshot2024-06-18at16_36_04.png.e1c99f172136536d4011391ea5692f52.png

Now the streak is at 42 and counting.

Screenshot2024-06-18at22_33_16.thumb.png.7de07625633f03e67eb59525039e5398.png

Did all these results help to sell more season tickets? You guessed it.

Screenshot2024-06-17at22_10_10.png.f25bd4782d38ece91d4be8e392c049f0.png

We only lost two points in 7 games and I don't even know who got FM'd more there.

Season 8 – The Crash

Another tragic exit happened at the UCL Qualification. We were up 2-0 in the away game, but let two late stinkers in.

Screenshot2024-06-18at18_05_52.thumb.png.471b2e543af59031fa8c2c4489ecad68.png

The home game was just :seagull:

The bad news is piling up: none of the Polish teams make it through to the League Phase in any of the EU competitions. We have to give our best in the Europa League. Will be seeing many of our old friends!
