turnip
Players who are actually good as a Libero are hard to find - the AI doesn't seem to develop them often (if at all) so it seems to rely on a player getting generated with the right kind of attribute spread - but the first few times you see yours arriving late in the box from open play it's borderline magical. I had it pointed out to me that they need to have good Decisions to really work as a Libero (which makes sense), so it's good that Antonazi already has 11.
Jimbokav1971
Jul 2044. Friendlies. Scottish Premiership. Not the start we were hoping for in the Premiership, and although if anyone deserved to win it, then it was them, there really wasn't much in it and we were a little unfortunate not to get a point. League Cup. (SPFL Trust Trophy). 1st of all this is just a group of friendlies, and 2nd we didn't lose a single game in normal time, so I've got no issues with this at all. Internationals. Transfers. Jimbokav1971
Scottish Premiership Financial Rules. Aug 2044. There are minimum wage requirements that you have to adhere to in the Premiership, but they only count for FT contracts Obviously this doesn't count for players who remain on PT contracts, (however much they are being paid), but as I try to navigate the players over from PT to FT contracts, then it becomes an issue, at least for the younger players. We've just played our 1st Premiership game and I was surprised not to notice any unavailability because of wage rule ineligibility. This was our squad for the 1st Premiership game, (and the other appearances are in the League Cup). If you look at the contracts for the same group of players then it looks like this. 8 of the players in the squad are on FT contracts and are all getting paid at least £350 pw. 11 of the players in the squad are on PT contracts and although it doesn't matter how much they are paid, (in terms of eligibility), 7 of them are being paid less than £350 pw. The reason this is a big deal is because we're already over our budget, so any idea I had of transferring all players over to FT contracts need to be re-thought. Just so you fully appreciate what we're up against, this is the wage spend for Premiership clubs and perhaps explains Celtic's struggles.
RoguPL
The salary difference between 1st and 12th is gigantous but even 11th spend 5x more on wages then you do. Good Luck this season ! Jimbokav1971
Aug 2044. Scottish Premiership. The Aberdeen result was tough to take as we started well and led, before conceding an OG and a pen and then had a 61st min red card before they made their 1 man advantage really count late on. While it was 11v11 we were competitive. We were competitive against Dundee Utd (at the Zhao Yuhan Stadium), which is named after they current Chinese Tycoon owner. We grabbed our 1st 3 point haul of the season with a brilliant win against Ross County, but then lost to both Hibs, Motherwell and St Johnstone. It's key that we beat the teams in and around us and the games against the Old Firm, Hibs, Hearts, Aberdeen, Dundee Utd & Kilmarnock are neither here nor there. Games against Motherwell & St Johnstone are games that we need to be taking points from and if not winning, then at least ensuring that they don't win. I think it was an ok month overall, (we scored in each game), but I think we need to be taking points from the likes of Motherwell & St Johnstone and if we don't start doing them then we're not going to survive. Transfers. None of our current players involved, but we're still earning money. We had a 25% clause on (37b) Niven (F.Loyal) 6'4" * so we earn £350,000 from the deal, but we also earn £56,000 by way of a solidarity payment for developing the player. We don't have a clause on (34a) McGrandles (F.Det) *, (we sold it for £1.64M), but had we kept the 15% profit clause then it would have just earned us £2,775,000. I'm actually happy with the fact that we did the deal early. It's lost us approx £1.1M, but we needed the money at the time. We still got £276,000 by way of a solidarity payment for developing the player, and I'm more than happy with that. Goal-scoring GK's. (23) Brass (Bal) 6'2" is 5/8 from the spot at 63%. So far in this save it's more the positions that he takes up than anything he is technically able to do with the ball, but (44c) Antonazi (AUS)(Res)6'0 * seems a different breed. He came back tired from the Olympics so missed some of pre-season, but he's been doing ok all things considered, however I would like to see him/us improve defensively before we worry too much about his ability on the ball. Jimbokav1971
Sep 2044. Scottish Premiership. I'm really pleased with this month, despite the 2 losses. We were well-beaten by Celtic, but the 2nd Team were actually really good against Rangers and were a little unlucky not to come away with a draw. The Dundee game was close, but for a change we were just more clinical and that got us our 3 points. Despite the win against Dundee, we've dropped to bottom as Ross County collected 4 points this month, with a draw against Kilmarnock and a win against Aberdeen. That's not what we needed at all. Internationals. Transfers. I made a mistake here with (40e) Qurbonov (UZB) (Res) *. I didn't realise that I had agreed a minimum fee release clause of just £450,000 when I negotiated his FT contract. I think I thought it was a relegation release fee because that's similar to the level that I have agreed in other contracts. I just wouldn't have agreed to it otherwise. Contracts. After the shambles with losing (40e) Qurbonov (UZB) (Res) * for such a low fee, I've had a look at those on FT contracts to see I haven't made the same mistake with anyone else. Everything looks ok and the only really low min fee clause is (40g) Paterson (IRL) (F.Pro) * who is out on loan, (and that's fine). The only clause I don't particularly like is the relegation release clause of just £125,000 for (44c) Antonazi (AUS)(Res)6'0 *. As relegation is a distinct possibility and we can't afford to lose him for that so I'm going to have to re-negotiate it at some point which is going to mean paying him more money. Losing 1 player does mean that we have freed up some wage budget though, so I will be offering someone else a FT contract. Goal-scoring GK's. (23) Brass (Bal) 6'2" is 5/8 from the spot at 63%. Jimbokav1971
Oct 2044. Scottish Premiership. What a fantastic month, and in the main we weren't lucky either. We deserved our point against Hearts, and were well worthy of all 3 against Motherwell, but I will be the 1st to admit that it was a complete smash and grab against Hibs, (who were top of the table at the time). We only had 3 shots on target and scored 3 goals from an xG of something like 0.60. Aberdeen battered us and I have no idea how it finished only 3-2 to them, but we were unlucky against Kilmarnock, (and missed a pen). I was sure we were going to get something out of the St Johnstone game to really finish the month off, but they were just too strong. Still, we're not bottom and are level on points with Ross County. The more teams we can keep involved in this relegation battle the better. Goal-scoring GK's. (23) Brass (Bal) 6'2" is 5/8 from the spot at 63%. (Is no longer at the club). Jimbokav1971
Nov 2044. Scottish Premiership. This is the best we could have hoped for. I know we have beaten Celtic in this save already, but that was in the Cup 7 years ago when they played a weakened XI against us and seriously under-estimated us. No such mistakes being made in the league, (at least against us). They're below the cut-off point in the league right now, but have 3 games in hand on Aberdeen and 2 games in hand on 3 others in the top group, so I would expect them to rise pretty soon. Rangers on the other hand seem to be really good at the back and have only conceded 10 goals in 16 games this season. The win against Dundee was really convincing and was vital to create a bit of a gap at the bottom. We have 7 league games next month, and we just need to back up that Dundee result with a few more. A good month here, (aided by our rotation policy), could be the basis of our survival if we get it right. Our 1st game next month is against Dundee Utd. If we win that there will be an 8 point gap between us and the bottom side. Debuts. Internationals. Goal-scoring GK's. Nothing this month. (23) Brass (Bal) 6'2" is 5/8 from the spot at 63%. Jimbokav1971
Dec 2044. Scottish Premiership. What a month! We gave Dundee Utd not 1 but 2 pens and still beat them. What a kick in the nads that must be. Then I thought we had done enough to get a point against Ross County until they were awarded a 91st min pen with the scores tied at 1-1. Thankfully (39c) Telfer (F.Pro) 6'2" * saved the pen and we went up the other end and grabbed all 3 points with a 93rd min winner. We were unlucky not to come away with anything against Hearts, but the 2nd Team played in this game and they just weren't good enough in front of goal. I thought we were going to provide a huge shock when we went 2-0 up against Aberdeen, but they hit back harshly with 4 unanswered goals and deserved the win to be fair. The 2nd Team were really good against Kilmarnock and should have won, but didn't even draw in the end thanks to us seeing our 93rd min pen, (that should have earned us a point), saved. Hibs absolutely battered us and the scoreline should have been about 5-0 rather than 2-1. They were really good. We finished off the month with a really important draw against Motherwell. I was hoping for more, but I can't complain because I think they had rotated from the previous game so we didn't get the condition advantage that I was hoping for. Happy with a point in the end. Debuts. Goal-scoring GK's. He may have only scored 2 of 5 pens he's taken this season, but (39c) Telfer (F.Pro) 6'2" * has also saved 3 of the 6 he's faced. Jimbokav1971
Jan 2045. Scottish Premiership. A really good performance and we should have won by more as we missed a pen in the dying moments. It means now there is an 11 point gap between us and Dundee Utd at the bottom and we're even 3 points clear of Motherwell and Ross County. Scottish Cup. (The Big one). Transfers. Newcastle Utd have made a bid of £825k + £900k in installments + £1M after 20 games + £205k per 20 league games + £1M after 1 Int appearance +40% profit + friendly + Loan back until end of season. As you can see this offer was accepted, but Newcastle then withdrew their offer for some reason. They have however started a bidding war. Man City have made a bid of £5.75M cash and I have asked them to negotiate to include a re-sale clause. Arsenal have joined then hunt. Clauses. We got the £5.75M + the loan back, but we didn't get a future fee clause or anything else. On the one hand I'm delighted about the £5.75M, (it's huge money), but to not have a future clause is a disaster. We've had a HUGE win with a clause giving us £11,150,000 (+£550,000 solidarity payment), and especially so seeing the most recent offer for us to sell the clause was "only" for £5.21M. Holding on to the clause isn't always the right thing to do, but it certainly was in this case. Records. I've always found it strange that transfer income from clauses isn't included in transfer income for records. Goal-scoring GK's. 1 more failure from the spot. (23) Brass (Bal) 6'2" is 5/8 from the spot at 63%. (Is no longer at the club). (23) Ewing (Bal) 6'1" is 17/20 from the spot at 85%. (Is no longer at the club). Well you would have thought so, but my wage budget is still the same and my transfer budget is still the same. I had the opportunity to request an increase in my transfer budget for NEXT season, but what's the point? So no new players on FT contracts I'm afraid. The player who's wages we're no longer paying was only a kid so not getting paid much anyway, so even after his wages go off the books we're still over budget. I'm really just putting my full concentration into surviving in the league this season and I will look at the finances in the Summer. I've requested some Facility stuff, but more out of habit than anything else. In the Summer I need to have a long hard look at who we have in the 1st Team and who we need to clear a pathway for coming through. It will be good to be proactive with transfers. It wouldn't surprise me if he still accepted bids for a while and I don't really mind as long as he includes sell-on fees. I certainly don't think we're safe yet, but we are looking good. The main reason I didn't try and bring anyone back, other than (32e) Dick (Bal) *, is simply because we can't afford it. As it is we've only been able to sign 14 players to FT contracts and the rest remain on PT deals. We haven't got any Transfer budget and we're already over our wage budget. Of the above list, only the following are interested in joining us on a permanent transfer. And these are the player willing to come on loan. The most we pay any player is £1,200 pw, but we only have 5 other players getting paid more than £500 pw. From the above lists there are a few players I was looking at. (30b) McAllister(NIR)(F.Det) * is decent but he wants what we pay 5 players combined. (39d) Thijs (NED)(Bal) 5'11" * is a player who definitely interests me but Hearts didn't want to loan him specifically to us, (who had owned him before). (33d) Martin (Pro) * is decent but he would want to become one of out top earners and he wouldn't be one of our top players. (35a) McColl (Bal) * is decent, but we have some good WBR's coming through and bringing him in above them would block their pathway to the 1st Team. So basically it's about finances, and also about interest from those who we would like to recruit.

The way the game works it's not based on a history of what I'm doing, (in terms of selling players and generating income). Instead it's based on what's guaranteed, (and there is a fair but guaranteed). We have the Premiership prize money, Premiership TV money, Gate Receipts and Season Tickets and then taking away from that we have the known expenses. This is how the projections are calculated. I personally hate projections because they're just not realistic, but I understand why they're used. Even though we have £18M in the bank, the game, (and so El Chieftain), projects that we will be down to £5.5M in 2 seasons time. If this info was true, then you would keep selling too wouldn't you? I know I would.
Jimbokav1971
Feb 2045. Scottish Premiership. We were 2-0 up against Celtic and despite playing really well we just couldn't even hang on for a point. Great performance though. Just not good enough to earn us a point. When Dundee scored in the 95th min to make it 2-1 to them I thought we had blown it, but we went straight down the pitch after the restart and levelled it up in the 96th min. The ref wasn't done with us though. He let them play on, and play on, and win a corner and take the corner, and put the corner over the bar before blowing up. What a ridiculous game this is. Thankfully we're still 2 points ahead of Dundee, (the draw specialists), but we really need a win to stay in contact with Ross County & Motherwell. Astonishingly, Celtic look like they might miss out on the top half of the table after the split. Which obviously means they would be in our half of the split. They do have 2 games in hand on Kilmarnock though, (who are in pants form). I suppose it depends who their games in hand are against. Scottish Cup. Quite comfortable so far, but Aberdeen are flying and I think it's unlikely that we will be good enough to turn them over. Facilities. Well I've got to spend the money on something. Job Interview. Jimbokav1971
Youth Intake day. Mar 2045. We've gone from everyone being born in Alloa when we were Semi-Pro, to nobody, (ok, 2, almost nobody), being born in Alloa in our 1st intake since turning Pro. It appears to be a decent intake at 1st glance, but if you had asked me what position it was where I didn't need any players coming through I would have said striker, and we seem to have 4 decent strikers come through. Being positive though, we have a much-needed DL and a DC who looks decent. I'd never heard of Newton Mears in real life and I don't know where it is, but I know the name only from searching for places of birth in the current Scottish National Team squad in my game, (where there were 2 players). Newton Mears is a little West of East Kilbride, (about 8 miles), and both are on the Southern limits of Glasgow. The only club I know are from Newton Mears are St Cadoc's, (who I'm sure we've played in this save), but there probably are others. The only reason the name jumps out of me is that I've heard of all the other names on the list, and as I have family from that part of the World it seems strange that I've never heard of it. Who am I NOT signing? Initially I wasn't going to sign either of these, but in the end I basically bottled it and (45i) Candé (POR)(GNB) (L.Det) will be offered a new contract because he is just L.Det rather than L.Det + Unamb, (and of course his 4.0 PA played a part too), and his unusual personalities as well. (45n) McManus. (IRL) (Unamb) has been released though.

Jimbokav1971
Mar 2044. Scottish Premiership. The 2nd Team were so close to nicking a point against runaway leaders Rangers, only denied by a really harsh 92nd min winner. Against Dundee Utd we were really dominant and although we scored 3 goals, 2 of them were ruled out and then they went and grabbed an undeserved late equaliser. Scottish Cup. (The Big one). We led Aberdeen 2-0 but they were far too strong for us and scored 4 unanswered goals in return. We had a good run, but this is just about our limit at the moment so no complaints. Internationals. Jimbokav1971
Apr & May 2045. Scottish Premiership. 2 really really good results give us some breathing space between us and the bottom of the table. We beat Hearts and Celtic beat Dundee Utd in our last games before the split, to sneak into the top half and keep alive their hopes of playing European football next season. What I didn't realise is that there are only 5 games after the split, so you play each opposition once more. I thought that the split was done at the halfway point but wonder if it was ever like that or did it used to be like that but has been changed? Either way, we're 5 points off Dundee & Motherwell in 10th and 11th and with 5 games in which we can gain points to finish the season, it's all to play for. Yeah we're 17 points off Celtic in 6th, (other side of the split), but that's a target for another season. All that matters now is avoiding the relegation playoff. We were much the better side in the 2nd game against Hearts, but we didn't take our chances and could only manage a draw. Away, and against the highest team in the bottom half, it's still a very good point though. Against Dundee Utd we had 71% possession and won the XG battle but even their win couldn't save them from being relegated. We were well-beaten by Ross County, but we were weakened by the loss of our 1st 4 wing-backs. The 2nd Team played against Motherwell and were weakened further by injury and suspension, but were still better than the 0-3 scoreline suggests. The rotating ruse worked however as we bounced back to absolutely demolish Dundee 7 (SEVEN) - 0 in what was a decider for who would be in the Relegation Playoff. Had they beaten us by 3 clear goals then they would have jumped above us on goal difference but luckily we didn't have to worry about that as opur refreshed and rested 1st Team beat them with ease. TIR669
Congrats on a very very solid first season. I expect you to do the Blues Brothers now and bring the band back together over the summer... Maybe a recap of how well some of your best sold players are doing now wouldn't hurt too. But the money is there to use. Curious how your income differed this season, how much impact did sales/fees have compared to everything else?

But the money is there to use. Curious how your income differed this season, how much impact did sales/fees have compared to everything else? Yeah, I'm really pleased with how it went. With regards to bringing players back, there are certainly a few options. I've updated the Depth chart in the previous post to include Academy Products who have left the club, but will add them here too. We've got 8 players playing in England, (4 of them in the Premier League). 2 players playing in Germany. 4 players playing in Italy. 3 players in N.Ireland. 1 player in Slovenia. 1 player in each of NEw Zealand, Peru & Romania. 2 players in the Scottish Premiership. 12 players in the Scottish Championship. 6 players in Scottish League 1. 7 players in Scottish League 2. The problem though is that not many are interested in joining us permanently. Although there are a few more who are willing to re-join on loan. What I would say though is that while bringing players back in on loan sounds great, I do have to be careful about clogging up the pathway to the 1st Team. Jimbokav1971
Jun 2045. Internationals. Scottish clubs in Europe this season. Hibs got to the Champions League Knockout Playoff Round. Rangers got the the Champions league Knockout Playoff Round. Kilmarnock were knocked out in the Europa Conference League Fourth Qualifying Round. Dundee Utd were knocked out in the Europa League Group Phase. Their campaign in Europe cost them though, as they finished bottom of the league and have been relegated. Celtic got to the Europa League Knockout Playoff Round, but they won't be in Europe at all this season. Rankings. Finances. I think I've managed to get most players on FT contracts now, (but will double check during pre-season). Jimbokav1971
Jul 2045. Season Preview. As you would expect, Rangers are red-hot favourites after winning the league by 25 points last season. Celtic will surely do better than last season's 6th with no European football to distract them. We surprisingly aren't predicted to finish bottom. Both Dundee sides were relegated last season and I expect us to comfortably finish clear of promoted sides Falkirk & Raith Rovers. Sponsorship. This seems really strange to me irrespective of how much success Rangers have had recently. I suspect that the reason of Celtic's demise, (and I have been searching for a reason), is because whoever edited the database played about with the Sponsorship and gave Rangers a boost. A difference of £93M between the 2 clubs just doesn't seem realistic. Scottish Premiership. We were 5-0 up at HT and only won 6-2, so while it's certainly a good start, it might actually have been better. League Cup. Not bad for a bunch of pre-season friendlies. Debuts. Transfers. Losing (41g) Thomson (F.Loyal) 6'1" * for just £1M is a blow, but if this had happened before we had the cash then I would have been ok with it so I can't really complain. Jimbokav1971
Aug 2045. Scottish Premiership. The 2nd Team played against Rangers and the score was 1-1 at HT but we were down to 10 men and they made the extra man count in the 2nd half. Ross County probably deserved the win against an injury-ravaged side, and it's games like this that we have to win if we're going to make the jump to the top half of the table. We were 4-2 up over Hearts with 15 mins to go and still lost 5-4. There is no way we will finish in the top half without winning games like this. Against Motherwell we had a player sent off in the 1st half and we're just not good enough to give our opponents a man advantage. On top of all that I have no words to explain how we didn't win against Raith Rovers. We missed a pen, we hit the post and the bar and the goals they scored were ridiculous. This is how laptops and widows get broken. Despite all the injuries, we should have won 3 games this month and maybe even sneaked a draw in the other 2 games. We somehow got absolutely diddlysquat. League Cup. We've been decimated by injuries and this certainly played a part, but the xG were identical at 2.49 each and we had a goal ruled out in normal time that would have won it. On such fine margins are these things decided. Anyway, it's just a bunch of glorified friendlies. Goal-scoring GK's. (23) Brass (Bal) 6'2" is 5/8 from the spot at 63%. (Is no longer at the club). Jimbokav1971
Sep 2045. Scottish Premiership. Aberdeen tore us a new one, but we were actually really decent against Celtic & Hibs. We've now lost 8 league games on the bounce, but 5 of them have been by a single goal, we've had 2 1st-half red cards, conceded 1 pen and missed a pen of our own. I really don't think we're miles off it. We've struggled with losing our WBL, (who was back in on loan in the 2nd part of last season), and the left-sided centre-half we lost in the Summer, (for just £1M), but other than that I really think we've been playing ok. Even after all that we're still only 11th on goal difference. I'm really confidant of turning this around. Internationals. Goal-scoring GK's. (23) Brass (Bal) 6'2" is 5/8 from the spot at 63%. Jimbokav1971
Oct 2045. Scottish Premiership. I usually save on the 1st of each month, (when I remember), but what I don't usually do is save, exit the game and then immediately reload the same save. After 8 losses on the bounce that's exactly what I did, (you can't take the pee out of me because it worked), and the next game saw us pick up our 1st point in 9 attempts, (with absolutely no assistance from the RnG). If truth be told we should have stuck about 4 on Ross County and then We also should have beaten Falkirk, but I was happy just not to lose in the end. We were 3-0 down against St Johnstone, but made a game of it after that. We can't be giving teams 3 goals headstarts though. The opposite was the case against Hearts as we raced into an early 2 goal lead, only to see them come back and beat us by the odd goal in 7. I sent the 2nd Team out against top of the table Motherwell, before our well-rested 1st Team earned another 3 point haul against Raith Rovers. The Board only expect us to avoid relegation, (and don't care how we do it), but my personal goal was to at least get close to a top half finish. We're 10 points off Ross Country already, but we have a game in hand on them and I honestly feel we could have 10-12 points better off this season with just a tiny bit of luck. I don't think we're a million miles away from a real change in form, (against the bottom half of the table teams at least). Goal-scoring GK's. (23) Brass (Bal) 6'2" is 5/8 from the spot at 63%. The 1st win after the 8 losses was a big one. I'm pretty sure we have turned the corner now and will improve over the course of the season. Thanks very much. I love a "small" Nation save. Had a great Kosovan save in FM23. Really enjoyed it. Good luck in Georgia.
Jimbokav1971
Nov 2045. Scottish Premiership. No points this month, but then again I wasn't really expecting any points from 3 such tough fixtures. We've dropped into the Relegation Playoff spot, but I'm still confidant that we can pull ourselves clear. We scored in all 3 of the games this month and were unlucky not to nick a point off Aberdeen, (although Celtic & Hibs gave us a right doing). Internationals. Job Interviews. Goal-scoring GK's. Jimbokav1971
Dec 2045. Scottish Premiership. Under normal circumstances this wouldn't be seen as great form, but in a relegation battle it's not too shabby at all. For a change we weren't unlucky or miss out on points that we deserved to win. What we got is basically what we deserved. Goal-scoring GK's. (23) Brass (Bal) 6'2" is 5/8 from the spot at 63%. (Is no longer at the club). (23) Ewing (Bal) 6'1" is 17/20 from the spot at 85%. Jimbokav1971
Jan 2046. Scottish Premiership. The pointy against Kilmarnock was much-needed even if the 3 points against Raith Rovers was to be expected. Kilmarnock might have a lowly league position, but they're unbeaten in 6 League games and still in the Europa Conference. Scottish Cup. (The Big one). Being drawn away to Hibs in the next round, (or home to Hibs for that matter), probably means we will be going out, but I don't really mind losing to better teams than us. Transfers. The 2 incoming signings were actually free transfers arranged for the end of the season, but they offered me reasonable prices to complete the deals now so accepted. Both players are only fringe players at best, but it made sense to sign them while we had the chance to secure some depth. Records. I think this shows just how weak we are in some areas. We're a little weak at DC, but especially at WBL and WBR we're REALLY weak right now. Goal-scoring GK's. (23) Brass (Bal) 6'2" is 5/8 from the spot at 63%. (Is no longer at the club).
