Unbelievable kick off routine from Italy :D Send half your team sprinting at the opposition back line and then pass it straight to a Swiss midfielder :D

One of the worst 50 minutes from a top nation I've ever seen this

Just need to get them playing like they play for their clubs.

Spalletti must be a double agent. :D

Poor man just wanted to enjoy his retirement - and then Mancini had to go to Saudi Arabia.

I really think it was a mistake not to select Immobile to this tournament.

Hemight've had a not very great season, but still much more dangerous than what the Italian strikers have shown this tournament,

Every England critic after this post...

When we win the whole thing, I don't think there is a container alive that could keep Rob's smugness sealed in, and quite right imo

Have a hunch that Switzerland will win this quite comfortably.

2-0 Switzerland

Looking good. I went 2-1 but Italy have been so poor it seems more likely Switzerland get a third.

Tbf, Yakin does have his best players playing like they do for their clubs!

Dunno. Should have stayed at Arsenal though.

Scamacca with a golden chance there. Had to do better.

This is only a shock because Spain didn’t score the 3 & 4 they should have v Italy.

tbf I think the theory was that Italy parked the bus (badly) against Spain because it was Spain, not because they were about to be outclassed by Switzerland.

Not a shock that the Swiss are good enough to win, but they weren't supposed to boss the Italians like they were the ones who were reigning champions

Not only are Italy a terrible team, but you can tell that the majority of their players know they are terrible team. Seem to be lacking anything that might be able to drag them back into this. Belief has totally evaporated.

Switzerland look good though. When they play England - assuming we win tomorrow - it’s going to be an awful defensive watch from us.

Chiesa their own decent attacking player. What’s happened to Italy with developing players?

We have better players than them...it's just if we can play more attacking really. If we don't then they will have a much better chance than us. I just hope we see a more attacking England now we're in the knockout games.

Thinking about this, no wonder Italy look so much worse than last Euros. Barella and Chiesa are/were on the pitch but might as well not be because they're awfully out of form, Jorginho has declined and can't get even a spot anymore, Insigne and Spinnazolla are not there. That's all the players that created anything, and they've been replaced by... No one? Plus Calafiori and Di Marco who are two good players at carrying the ball are unavailable for this match. No wonder they couldn't progress the ball through the heavy press in the first half, nor break down a defence now

Just a scant generation. Germany had similar issues after they won the World Cup, and I'd argue still struggle albeit they're better than us at the minute.

Brazil seem to be struggling a bit too.

It happens. How long we're in this funk for is another question

All that text and you didn't mention Verratti, who was one of the best midfielders in the world.

Bonucci and Chiellini played like it was 2016 as well - world class defenders

Feel for Chiesa there. Starts to break and gets frustrated the rest of the team is just so crap :D :(
