Perry Neal
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/paulfletcher/2009/02/footballs_lastchance_saloon.html Some interesting stuff there, including the fact it's held in February rather than pre-season. Perry Neal
What's this got to do with Football Manager? It's reflected in the game's trial days which would appear to be incorrect on a number of details according to the article.
fatboyjohnmulhern
yer i read this article the otherr day, very interesting. It is players that are expected to be released by their club at the end of the year. Maybe si should look into this to impliment it into fm 10 because currently it plays incorrectly
phnompenhandy
Are the trials in FM the same though? The article is about youths being released; I thought the FM trials are for older players who've been released and aren'r bound by school terms. Could be wrong as I haven't experienced one in my save.

I have seen players over 35 in these trials days and i have also seen a 41 year old
Perry Neal
I seem to think the FM trial days are for about 16 to 20-year-olds. But surely they should be the same anyway, or as close to the same as possible of course. Edit: Not seen that myself, hamilton, but I've not got past a handful of seasons on 09 yet... hamilton162
In the first season, there are a few guys that are over 20, such as Dan Smith, a LB or LM and Daniel Narreldelio if i remember correctly, a ST, are 23 and 22 respectively. Not sure about Narreldelio though
Dave Fairbairn
I don't think there's an issue with how they're handled. The game currently takes the best players without a club and puts them on show in a buncha friendlies. Might not be realistic, but it is just a game after all. There are players suitable for all divisions, down to Conference North/South
