So we play our next game against a team that’s in 9th place and we are in 21st what hope do we have not a lot I think

20 Sept 08 Swindon (a)

Williamson gets us off to a flyer after 12 mins of the game. We have changed the tactic around to make us a bit more solid at the back. We have gone for a

4-1-3-1-1 tactic

We went into ½ time with a one goal advantage, something that we aint had for ages. Just after the break Swindon broke down on the left and a shot from Saunders went flying past the post lucky for us it was the outside post.

For some reason the lads started to play like a team that knew what they were doing. Another goal from us 58th min had put a bit of confidence into the team as they went looking for another goal.

A few changes late into the game (some of the lads had run themselves to the ground ) we got that killer goal, a goal that could see our season go on the up.

This win put up a place to 20th but seeing as the other teams had won that were below us, we are still in the poo at the mo

End Result… PNE win 3-0

Scorers Williamson, Shaw, Arthur

I think I have forgotten what are home stadium looks like these days as we have another away game. This time we are away to Farnborough who at the moment are in 14th place in the league with 11points, we on the other hand are in 20th with 8 points but a win for us would place us above them.

What have we got to lose….lets go and get at them

27 Sept 08 Farnborough (a)

So we are away again and I try to keep the same team that won in the last game as to build up the confidence of the players.

A corner for the home team breaks down and the ball is brought out by Hall who sets up Williamson to run at the defence and play a first time ball into the box for Fuller to put away the ball into the net to give us a good start to the game just after 11 minutes.

A sloppy mix up in defence give Farnborough a break and Somerville pegs the game back after 12 minutes.

An end-to-end game see our youngster Shaw break down the right a fire a hard shot into the net. At ½ time we go in 2-1 can we stand the attacking prowess of Farnborough in the second half.

A good team talk I think brings us out into the half and the players are giving it their all. For some reason our keeper is having one of them game and lets in a soft goal to bring the game to a draw. Somerville gets his 2nd of the game and Farnborough’s 2nd.

Oh well this draw moves us up another place in the league but we are still not safe.

End Result… 2-2 Draw

Scorers Fuller, Shaw.

Just before the home game we have found out that Adam Arthur has been voted the player of the month for September an award that he deserves as he’s been on fire these last few games.

1 Oct 08 Oxford (h)

So we have a home game at last even though it is a mid week game I expect a good crowd to come out and see us play. With Fuller away yet again on international duty we have to change the striker upfront.

Also we have changed the keeper and brought up from the reserves Sergio who has been doing ok with the reserve team getting his match fitness up, but seems to be looking forward to this chance to make the keepers jersey his own.

We seemed to holding our own against a team that were in 3rd. for some reason we were all over them and looking like the team that was on the turn for the good. We had kept Oxford down to no shots at goal in the first half, but in the second we had let them in for 1 shot. That shot was a 20 yarder that went into the stand.

All in all this was a good result for us. All we need to do now is try and score a few more goals.

End Result… 0-0 Draw

4 Oct 08 Burnley (h)

Burnley are in 12th and our last few games between us have been a close affair with neither team getting an advantage over each other.

Talking about getting in front Shaw had put us ahead after 16 minutes with a through ball from Fuller. We go into the break ahead and come out fighting with wave after wave of attacks on the Burnley’s defence. The pressure seems to be playing off as Murphy lets fly with a shot but the keeper cant keep hold off and is there to put the follow up in.

Benjamin puts the ball in the net to make the last few minutes of the game a very tight affair for my coaching staff and me as Burnley had gone to a 4-2-4 for the last 10 minutes of the game. They had put everything into getting a point that their keeper started to pop up in the area on corners.

Another win and another movement up the league keep this up and we might make the play offs.

End Result… 2-1 PNE Win

Scorers Shaw, Murphy

I decide to take the lads out and give them a day at the races as we have an away game in Doncaster.

We get on the coach and the cards come out again but this time the lads are playing snap of all games ( Muppets) lets see if they can get the jest of this game as they did with happy families.

We seemed to have a good day out building up the team spirit and we all look forward to our game.

15 Oct 08 Doncaster (a)

Sergio was playing a blinder in goal, as was Fuller up front as his 2 goals had set us on the way to another win. Doncaster were playing like a team that were fighting for their lives in the league as were we.

The pitch was a bit of a mud bath and the weather did not help with teams trying to play a passing game. This win now puts up to mid table and we are in 12th.

End Result… 2-0 PNE Win

Scorers Fuller

18 Oct 08 Chesterfield (h)

Now this was the biggie for us at this part of the season. We were playing the top team who were on fire at the moment. They had played us last season and had put 4 past us. This was going to be a game where they go for the kill or wait until we play them in the cup (Vans Trophy North 1st rd ) which is our next game after this. As for us we go into every game looking for the win.

The team I put out for the game is

Keeper Sergio

Defence Hall, Duberry, Birchall, Davies.

Def/Mid Yahiaoui

Mids Murphy, Woodhouse, Shaw

Att/Mid Williamson (cpt)

Striker Fuller

Subs Hudson, Arthur, Blackadder, Laurie,Ngalula Mbuyi

Will it change for the next game? You will have to wait and see.

As for this game, both teams were looking for the win but no team could get that killer pass off to get that goal to give you the 3 points.

On the whole I was pleased with the point and the crowd of 14,842 gave both team a standing ovation off the pitch, as we had both tried to win the game but both defences had the better of the strikers.

End Result… 0-0 Draw

More to follow…

Champions! The quest for more silverware 08/09

Sat, 13.9.2008 - 12:30 (A) Man Utd - Premier Division

The second successive game against a team from Manchester managed by Daz Gray, Daz had moved across town to desert Citeh icon_wink.gif and manage the Red Half of town. The visit to Old Trafford is always a tough prospect but having already lost our last game against a Daz Gray team, it was not an easy task to face. Man U were in imperious form as the Hammers team folded and let the reds take control. A hatrick from Van Nistelrooy and a goal each for Govou, Kanoute and Kleberson was the outcome, with only a brace from Kristjannson in response icon_mad.gificon13.gif

Result : Man Utd 6 West Ham 2

Wed, 17.9.2008 - 19:45 (H) Shakhtar - Champions Cup Grp E

After the mauling at Old Trafford, our opening game in the Champions league was next and there was not much of an improvement in the Hammers performance as they scraped a draw with a late equaliser. Rouch was getting concerned after three games without a win. icon_frown.gif

Result : West Ham 2 Shaktar 2

Sat, 20.9.2008 -15:00 (H) Aston Villa - Premier Division

After the poor run of late, a stirring performance was needed, and that was what was delivered icon_biggrin.gif 3-0 belies the complete ease with which West Ham took control of this game, even being able to spurn two penalty opportunities! Robinho, Blasi (scoring his first for West Ham) and Kristjannson covering over Simonetta and Arteta’s penalty misses icon_smile.gif

Sat, 27.9.2008 - 15:00 (A) Birmingham - Premier Division

An away trip to Brum and a very different opposition to last week’s midlanders! A very close game decided by a 77th minute goal from Arteta. West Ham gratefully took the three points home with them! icon_biggrin.gif

Result : Birmingham 0West Ham 1

Arteta 77

Att : 27838

Tue, 30.9.2008 - 19:45 (A) Inter - Champions Cup Grp E

A tough away trip to Milan for our 2nd game in the Champions League saw West Ham take an early lead through Arteta and continue to dominate the first half, but without adding to the goal count. The second half brought a Milan revival, with an equaliser from Bresciano and a late late winner form Martins icon_mad.gificon_frown.gif

Result : Milan 2 West Ham 1

Bresciano 50 Arteta 14

Martins 88

Att : 61168

So overall a disappointing month which has seen our champions league and Premier League aspirations taking a serious hit! The coming months will be a test of the character of the team, to see how they react to these setbacks and whether they can claw back the points required to re-establish their claim!

Well Well, who would of thought it Torquay battling for promotion to the premiership in their first attempt. Well thats how it looks at the moment with impressive peformances against any side they are coming up against The Gulls are stamping their authority in Div 1.

Sitting pretty in 2nd just 2 points behing leaders WBA and 4 points in front of the strong Liverpool team who we succesfully beat in a magnificent team performance that saw us victorous with a 1-0 win.

On a bad note we were knocked out of the League Cup first round by wrexham who took thier only 2 chances to secure a 2-1 win. The Gulls should of wrapped the game up in either half but with over 15+ shots on target out finishing was poor and only scoring 1 goal was not enough.

There you have it the little team that once was a Div 2 regular is now looking at playing against the likes of West Ham and Man Utd in the almighty premiership. There is no reason why The Gulls cant acheive this feat as they have the squad and experience taken from last season against the premiership teams to make it into the premiership. Lets hope Torquay cant acheive the impossible and achieve it for the great fans.

Keep Tuned.

Champions! The quest for more silverware 08/09

West Ham entered October looking to improve on Septembers dismal displays, and put something of a run together to re-establish their title challenge at home and in Europe.

Sat, 4.10.2008 - 15:00 (H) Norwich - Premier Division

A home match against Wayne Bristers Norwich was the first task at hand for rouchies’ West Ham, but a terrible start saw Norwich take the initiative and take a first half lead through Cort. After giving his team the hairdryer treatment at half team, rouchies’ Hammers came out in the second half much more attack minded and Robinho reaped his reward for the Hammers enterprise very quickly indeed, with an equaliser 3 minutes from the restart! Oskarsson netted the winner in the last 10 minutes when people were beginning to believe a draw was on the cards and were checking the numbers on their pools coupon. icon_biggrin.gif

Result : West Ham 2 Norwich 1

Robinho 48 Cort 25

Oskarsson 81

Att : 24715

Wed, 8.10.2008 - 19:30 (A) Hull - Premier Division

Next up was a trip to The Circle to face Andy Hepburns struggling Tigers, a very even first half saw the teams go in goal less at the break. The second half was again, very even, but for Robinho’s superb finishing! 2 goals from the Maestro proved the difference in a very tightly fought game icon14.gif

Result : Hull 0 West Ham 2

Robinho 63, 89

Att : 28688

Sat, 18.10.2008 - 12:30 (H) Chelsea - Premier Division

Chelsea stunned the Hammers with a 2 goal salvo in the first 15 minutes with a performance that looked like they were easily going add to that start icon_eek.gif Simonetta started the fight back just before half time, but that was not enough to stop the West Ham Manager giving the team a real grilling at the break, and forced them to look at themselves and their performance. The second hald saw a transformation and fightback rarely seen in football, as the Hammers picked themselves up off the floor first with the equaliser from Oskarsson and then a winner from Robinho that was met with rapturous applause in the Boleyn! CDOmeback complete and the first inklings of a run? icon_wink.gif

Result : West Ham 3 Chelsea 2

Simonetta 38 Crespo 7

Oskarsson 68 Duff 13

Robinho 79

Tue, 21.10.2008 - 19:45 (A) Vardar - Champions Cup Grp E

A mid week overseas trip for the Champions league, and time for the Hammers to start getting the points in if they want to avoid being dumped out of the competition! The Hammers were imperious in their play and soon showed that they were now taking the Champions league seriously! The Hammers run riot as the Vardar keeper was being peppered with shots from all over the field. Arteta grabbed a hatrick and Simonetta notched 4 as the boys in claret and blue overran the Darth defence to send a loud message round Europe that the hammers were nearing their top form! icon_biggrin.gif

Result : Vardar 0 West Ham 7

Arteta 4, 34, 76

Simonetta 39, 50, 55

Wed, 29.10.2008- 19:45 (H) Southampton - League Cup 3rd Rnd

A woeful turnout for a midweek game against Southampton in the League Cup (sort it out SI!) saw the hammers take part in a really fiercely contested game, traditional cup fare! Hammers went 1 up via a goal from Robinho, which was how the score stayed for the first half. Beattie smashed in an equaliser in the second, but Robinho opened the gap again with a few minutes, he then made things a touch more comfortable with his hatrick 5 minutes later. Beattie grabbed his brace in the last 10, but Simonetta ensured that any thoughts of a comeback were killed off when he restored the two goal cushion just before full time icon_biggrin.gif

Result : West Ham 4 Southampton 2

Robinho 19, 52, 57 Beattie 49, 81

Simonetta 88

October drew to a close with West Ham poised in 2nd spot waiting for the Mancs to slip up, and in 2nd place in the Champions League, ready to qualify for the knockout stages. Manager of the Month was awarded to me after a solid performnce in the premiership, and Simonetta ends the month with a runners up spot in the goal of the month competition, for his goal against Chelsea after taking on two players before his powerful strike!

MAN UTD UNVIEL GRAY AND DEMAND THE TITLE

There has been a few games now since Gray took the hot seat at Old Trafford and he has already started stamping his Authoritiy on the team. He has transfer listed many of the aging and under preforming talent, the likes of Paul Scholes, Jens Jerimes and Allandro Del Piero all being shown the door once the january transfer window comes into play. We are pleased to announce as well that the old saying out with the old and in with the new applies here as well. Gray has already confired to signings for january. The first being keeper Chris Kirkland from Liverpool for a fee of around £10 Million. The other signing was unvield as a talented Italian forward known as Giampalo Pazzini for a fee of £10 million the red devils faithful will be expecting a goal getter with Van Nistelroy and Kluivert now getting on in years.

Man Utd v West Ham, Premiership

In what turned out to be West Hams second beating in a week from manager, Darren Gray, saw Man Utd play how they never have for a while and totally trounced the current premiership title holders. In what can be said to be a very dominante profomance for the Red Devils we saw a hattrick for Van Nistleroy and goals for Kleberson, Govou and Kanoute. A thrilling game and hopefully a sign of what is still to come

FT 6 - 2

Birmingham v Man Utd, Premiership

Another hattick in this game but this time it was from dutch midfielder, Van Der Vaart. Goals from Kanoute and Van nistleroy gave man utd 5 but it could have been 6 if it had not been for Ruud missing a penaltie in the 24th minute. Another one sided affair

FT 0 - 5

Man Utd v Swindon, League Cup 2nd Round

Man Utd feilded a reserve team for the game. The game was still a one sided affair and showed us a glimpse of a possible star of the future called Gary Daly becoming the youngest player to score a goal in a Man Utd top aged just 15. There was also 2 goals for Scholes and a gola for Mellberg and you starlet Daly had time to get another and made it 5.

FT 5 - 0

Man Utd v Hull, Premiership

In a game that was very fast paced and end to end Manager Darren Gray can count himself lucky that they came away with all 3 points from his encounter will Andy Hepburns, Hull City. Man Utd took a to goal lead with goals from Richardson and Ronaldo but 2 fine strikes from Hull striker Julius Aghahawa got hull baCK on level terms. Nut hull's delight was sshort lived as a minute later a goal from Freddie Kanoute gave Utd the victory.

FT 3 - 2

Coventry v Man Utd, Premiership

Goals just to come in abundence when Man Utd play latly and this game was no exception. Another on sided contest saw 2 goals for Van Der Vaart, and van Nistlerooy, Ronaldo and Govou all chipped in with the odd goal. Coventry nicked a goal in the 74th minute but it was nothing more than a concelation

Man Utd v Middlesboro, Premiership

Goals from Van Der Varrt and Jerimes were good enough to take the points away from Middlesboro at Old Trafford. In a pretty lack luster game Middlesboro only found the target once and it was a bread and butter save for Bartez. Man Utd are now starting to look like title contenders.

FT 2 - 0

Blackburn v Man Utd, Premiership

Just like they did games ago against hull Man Utd let a 2 goal advantagedisappear before there very eyes. Van Der Vaart scored Both goals for Man Utd but two late goals in the last 10 minutes from Robin Kieft was enough to make Man Utd drop there first points in the league this season. Gray will have to look at this as 2pts lost.

FT 2 - 2

Man Utd v Accrington, League Cup 3rd Round

Gray feilded his reserves once again for the League cup tie and again Man Utd put 5 past there oppostion. Sidney Govou was in inspired form banging in 4 of the goals and Paul Scholes also hit the net from midfield. It was always going to be a mamoth task for accrington and when you have Govou in form like he was today it was always going to be impossible

FT 5 - 0

Man Utd v Wolves, Premiership

With Govou scoring 4 midweek alot of people were suprised to see him sitting on the bench come match day against Wolves. He wasn't there for long however as an injury to Van Nistelrooy in the 28th minute brought the french striker into the game. So with the score already 2-0 with both goals coming from Van Nistlerooy Govou sent out a message to his manager grabbing a hattrick, Will Gray have the nerve to leave him on the bench next week???? A pen from Del Piero followed and aat the other end Gary Neville gave a way a pen in which Chopra missed but scored on the rebound.

FT 6 - 1

Vans Trophy North 1st rd

22 Oct 08 Chesterfield (a)

So here we go again against Chesterfield, this time can we get the win?

Just before kick off I find that Fuller has to be pulled from the team due to a hamstring so a change upfront was needed.

We go into the game as underdogs and as soon as the ball is kicked we are under the cosh, Chesterfield are on the attack from the start and soon have a grip on the game. We lose our defender (Davies) after 30 mins think he has done it on purpose as he wants to get out of the firing line ASAP

We seem to hold out but the lads are getting tired and soon let in a few goals near the end of the match. Oh well that’s another cup we won’t win this season

End Result… Chesterfield win 2-0

Scorers

25 Oct 08 Doncaster (a)

We go into the game still missing our main striker so again we have to make do with what we have.

Can the players try and bounce back from their early exit in the cup? At least we are above them in the league by 1 point, lets hope by the end of the day we are a few more ahead of them.

We are not off to a good start as we let in a soft goal due to our keeper waving at his mum in the stand. We try and attack more but we start to leave a few spaces at the back, which we are lucky not to go into ½ time further behind.

After 50 minutes we are 2-0 down and looking at another defeat. The lads try and get back into the game but we seemed to be second best all the time.

A game in which I want to forget but not to much as I think we need to start to looking at each player and what his role in the team is and do that very quickly

End Result… Doncaster win 2-0

We welcome to our ground the Foxes as our next opponents. Our scouts say they have a hard working midfield and should not be taken likely, as their position in the league is a bit unjust to them

1 Nov 08 Leicester city (h)

A good crowd has turned up to see us put a few goals in against the basement team of the league.

With all our possession we could not find that killer goal to give us the points. We decided to go 4-3-3 as I think we could have got a few goals, but alas it was not to be.

End Result… Draw 0-0

5 Nov 08 Colchester (a)

We should get all the points here that’s what the bookies say I think different.

We get a good start by going into the break 1-0 up through a break from the midfield where Manson see’s Brenne lose his marker to score from the edge of the box.

We decide to try and keep Colchester under the cosh a bit more by playing down the wings a lot more. We come unstuck big style WTF is wrong with the team they just cant put 2 games together where we should get something out of the match

The home team scores 2 quick goals to really put the knife into my back. I change the team to go and get the goal back to get us at least 1 point from the game. As I go searching the goal we are too slow at the back and let in the 3rd goal right at the end of the match.

End Result… Colchester Win 3-1

Scorers Brenne

I have a feeling that my job could be on the line soon as we are going through a bad patch of playing football yet again. The last few games have seen us beaten without giving to much of a fight back. I just hope we can start to put a few results together soon.

FA Cup 1st rd

8 Nov 08 Bath City (a)

Well if we cant beat these players from the non league then my players do not deserve to put on the shirt of PNE.

Would you believe it we have thrown our best chance of making a bit of money away as we go and lose to an 81st minute goal from Jones who got above our defence to score with his head

End Result… Bath City Win 1-0

Maybe more to follow…might not be in a job soon

12 Nov 08 Halifax (h)

The lads look like they have been through the mill after their last game. We try to change the system and the lads seem to have adjusted to it as we come out of this game with a bit of credit. As you can see from the result at last we have a win

End Result… PNE Win 3-1

Planet Stevenage : Where Putting The Ball Into The Net Seems A Struggle

Fans of Stevenage, fans of the Boro its been a bit of a frustrating couple of sessions at camp Stevenage, we dominate our opponents completely and just struggle to find the back of the net, why I don't, how to conquer it.......well thats another good question!

Anyway, plenty of exciting action!

Premiership

Down by the Riverside to play : Middlesborough

Once more a frustrating game for moi the manager, a game that we saw three easy points last season saw us only get a point this time around despite us enjoying complete domination, but once again despite making a hundred and one chances, they just cant put it into the back of the net, why does it happen to me? Final Score : Middlesborough 1 -1 Stevenage Juliusson

Uefa Cup

Visiting Broadhall Way is : Gent AA

Its time for the Uefa Cup! Our first season in the clubs history and we've done extremely well in it already with progressing via the Inter Toto Cup and beating some very top class opponents. It was time for the first round and we got given a tough draw against Belgium side AA Gent. Well we very much enjoyed overall possession and it was a suprise the score line was kept so low, more "world class" keepers for the opponent and our strikers must just be getting so frustrated. Anyway, it was pacey Slovenian striker Borut Semler who gave us the lead and that effort was followed up by the man who, no one else but captain Juliusson with a cracking 30 yard piledriver. Final Score : Stevenage 2 - 0 Gent AA Juliusson, Semler

Premiership

Visiting Broadhall Way is : Blackburn

Rovers havnt been doing at all lately and its a game I expected maximum points from too, well the lads delivered but it did take till the second half despite a handful of chances going close with every part of the goal being hit apart from the back of the net! But finally it was the swedish youngster and brazillian wonderkid who brought home the bounty and relieve some of that stress! Final Score : Stevenage 2 - 0 Blackburn Lindqvist, Silva-Viera

Visiting Molineuxl to play : Wolves

I swear they do it on purpose, having thrashed Wolves last season and enjoying complete domination in this game too and looking on course to thrash them once more.....they miss a thousend chances infront of goal and then out of the blue, Wolves somehow get a goal from their first ever shot on goal! Just typical, bloody game, just does my head at stupid times like this! We did get a goal eventually, Semler was the one who broke free from the Wolves defence to deliver the goods. Final Score :Wolves 2 - 1 Stevenage Semler

Visiting Broadhall Way is : QPR

Its going from bad to worse in the league at the moment, teams that we completely thrashed last season, and dominate all over this season too are getting points off us for no good damn reason at all. There is nothing much but dominating a game anyone can do, for some reason we cant score more than one goal, we got very talented strikers who definately know where the net is but the ball for some odd reason doesnt end up in the net. The score line doesnt reflect anything in this game apart from that QPR had as many shots as they had goals, which is absolutely zilch!Final Score : Stevenage 0 - 0 QPR

Uefa Cup

Visiting Belgium For A Beer Trip & to Play : AA Gent

1st Leg : 1-1

2nd leg

Well its time for us to complete the first round of the Uefa Cup with us travelling to Belgium for some Chocolates and Beer.......to celebrate a fine victory of course. They did play a lot better in this leg than they did the first but still it wasnt good enough to get too near our goal. Despite the strikers missing hatful of chances it was Portugese international Marco Ferreira who struck a sweet low shot past the helpless keeper to bring us into the second round! Final Score : AA Gent 0 - 1 Stevenage Ferreira

Visiting Ashburton Grove to Play : La Gunners

We didnt perform aswell in the first half as we have done in previous games and the Gunners did enjoy some very nice space with the ball and got their goal. But the second half was all us, we were shooting at the Arsenal goal like a firing range, but we only got rewarded once which was amazing considering how many chances we had at the end of the game. Final Score : Arsenal 1 - 1 Stevenage Hidalgo

League Cup 3rd Round

Visiting Broadhall Way is : Wolves

Well as tradition goes, when domestic cup comes round the reserves get a nice day out to amuse themselves, today they did that in style an all. Wolves with a very strong eleven out including the likes of Miller and Chopra looked favourites to win this but to a suprise, our reserves played them off the park completely and it was the two youngest players on the park for us that scored the goals. Gibson got the ball rolling with a fierce 35 yard strike and then McDonaldo went round three helpless Wolves defender to slot it past the keeper and into the bottom right corner Final Score : Stevenage 2 - 0 Wolves Gibson, McDonald

Premiership

Visiting Broadhall Way is : Man City

What a superb game it was, finally for some reason we started scoring an all which really made me happy for a chance cos we just seem to keep missing so many great chances week in week out. The Citeh defence just couldnt cope with the pace we put out and it was funny watching them trying to keep up with both Semler and Rommedahl who just flew down the wing to setup some fantastic efforts. Final Score : Stevenage 4 - 0 Man City Rommedahl, Queudrue, Ferreira, Semler

Uefa Cup

Visiting Broadhall Way is : M.Netanya

Arghhh!!! What have we done to deserve this, just as things were getting better with a cracking victory over Citeh we just cant score again! We hit the bar twice and each post too. It seemed that superman has flown in to help the Israeli side keep a clean sheet! All to do in the away leg now but it should have been at least 5-0 and over in this first leg, very disappointing to say the least.Final Score : Stevenage 0 - 0 N.Metanya

Premiership

Visiting Villa Park to Play : Aston Villa

Its getting worse and worse, the frustration is really at a max, after completely walking all over Villa they suddenly score from no where! Yes you guessed it, we still hadnt scored and it was more of a mystery to why we hadn't managed it, need to call in a Priest, its a curse I swear it is!! However, the come back kings tag was tied around our neck as delight was brought to my face after a very frustrating game, it was young midfielder McDonald who levelled things before a 90th min corner came to seal the fate for Villa, a rare good cross was delivered which Hidalgo headed into the near post to bring home the three points! Final Score : Aston Villa 1 - 2 Stevenage Hidalgo, McDonald

Visiting Broadhall Way is : Norwich

It was time to play Wayne's Assistant, the assistant won the first division and has taken Norwich to a great league position in the top 4, if we win, we'd leap frog them into the champions league spot. Norwich enjoyed some chances infront of goal and were close to scoring, however the score line was kept so low due to of course "the curse". I brought Poole into the squad to see if it is the strikers that are causing the problem but it didnt make it any better or worse, thankfully after having beat the offside trap on numerous ocassions, Poole broke free to slot it home cooly. Final Score : Stevenage 1 - 0 Norwich Poole

A very frustrating time at the moment for me, dominating games completely against our opposition but for some reason the lads just cant put it in the back of the net...........then it just gets followed up by the AI getting one shot in and scoring. Its difficult to see what needs changing, cos everything is going perfect apart from the chances just not going in for some odd reason!

CAN UNITED DO AN ARSENAL AND REMAIN UNBEATEN?????? LETS JUST CONCENTRATE ON WINNING THE LEAGUE EH!!!!!!

Man Utd really need to make sure that they can hold on to top spot in the premier League with West Ham the current holders not letting up for one minute. Coming into the next lot of games Man Utd are still unbeaten in the league. Here are the results for this evening sessions:

Q.P.R v Man Utd, Premiership

This was a very tight game in which Man Utd were matched in all areas of the game. Mark Viduka and Marc Bircham were a handful for the visitors and Bircham scored in the 61st minute to give Q.P.R the lead. They then both had chances to the game beyond Man Utd but failed to do so. It was Ronaldo in the 65th minute with a contender for goal of the season on a 50 yard run and finish who got Man Utd back in it. Man Utd left it late to take all three points but did in the end through Freddie Kanoute

FT 1 - 2

Man utd v Arsenal, Premiership

Two goals from Van Der Vaart and Van Nistelrooy within 5 minutes were enough for Man Utf to walk away with a victory over there old enemies Arsenal. The Gunners did manage to nick a goal but they left it right till the 93rd minute which ment the game was virtuall over

FT 2 - 1

Man City v Man Utd

A hostile reception for Gray on his return to the City of Manchester Stadium and the visit of his Manchester United Squad. A game that is taken very serious by both sides saw Man Utd on Championship form. Man of The Match, Van Der Vaart, scored a massive 6 goals in a game where he ran the city defence ragged. The other goals were contributed by Kanoute, Govou and Kluivert. Van Der Vaart also had a hand in one of the other goals he didn't score. Nine goals in total for Gray on his return to City and you can imagine how it made the City fans feel, especially on home soil.

FT 0 - 9

Man Utd v Aston Villa

A brace for Sidney Govou was enough to seal victorie for Man Utd and help guide them to a 15 Game unbeaten run in the premiership. It was a game that was quite dull at times but Aston Villa never had a look in. A deserved clean sheet for Bartez

FT 2 - 0

Norwich v Man Utd, Premiership

Goals from Berry and Sarr we good enough to see Norwich nick a point from Man Utd. Nowrich took the Lead then goals from Kanoute and Govou put Utd ahead only to be piped by a goal from Sarr. Gray was said to be foaming with his defence as both goals we conceeded from corners. He will want to see an improvement in weeks to come

FT 2 - 2

Man Utd v Burton Albion, League Cup 4th Round

Another Carlin Cup game and another game for Man Utd Reserves. A game that was very slow paced and Burton never looked to get in the game. A pen from Neil Armstrong and another goal from the 15 year old kid Daly was enough for the old trafford outfit.

FT 2 - 0

Man Utd v Chelsea, Premiership

Van Der Vaart opened the scoring for Utd in the first half but the game never looked out of chelseas reach as they were putting pressure on Man Utd's back four and Were lucky not to get an equaliser through Hernan Crespo only minutes later. The turning point in this game came when Van Nistlerooy who had a poor game and was replaced by Frenchman Kanoute who run the defence into the ground and grabbed himself a hattrick. Should almost gaurentee him his first team place nect week.

FT 4 - 0

Can we find the form to get our season going?

15 Nov 08 Wycombe (a)

A team that were below us in the league, surly we could get a win here?

Think again…. we were so poor it was unreal. We take an early lead after 5 minutes but are soon pegged back after 9 minutes. The lads have hit a brick wall and so have I buy the looks of it, no matter what we do we cant seem to get 2 wins together.

End Result… Wycombe win 3-1

Scorers Collins

MoM Barnes Wycombe 8/10

22 Nov 08 Gravesend (h)

After our very poor performances a small crowd of 5,390 turn up to watch us play the league leaders. It starts to get bad as soon as we kick of as we go a goal behind after 2 minutes from a break on the left hand side of the pitch see’s our defence at sixes and sevens for the cross into the box for Carson to put the ball away.

Yet another scorer for Gravesend (White) see’s him score for us tho after 3 minutes.

We get 2 very quick goals 14th and 17th minutes to start to make the lads feel at ease with the game, but Powell had made the attack on the wing with the ball, cut inside the defender and fired home a long shot that went under the keeper’s body to make the score at ½ time 3-2

The second part of the match the lads just went for it and came away with their best result of the season. 2 more goals had made the game safe and giving us a much needed win.

End Result… PNE win 5-2

Scorers og 3rd min, Shaw 14,66, Robinson 17, Fuller 54

MoM Shaw PNE 10/10

26 Nov 08 Swansea (a)

Thomas does the damage to us tonight he gets 2 goals 18th and 33rd minutes to really put the skids under our team. We do get a goal back from Shaw 87th min but its to late to do any damage

End Result… Swansea win 2-1

Scorers Shaw 87th minute

MoM Shaw PNE 9/10

29 Nov 08 Barnet (h)

Ok I know it sounds mad but we are only 12 points of the play off places but more worrying for us is that we are 3 points of relegation. We do need to get a winning run started pretty soon or we could find ourselves in a fight at the bottom of the league.

We had put Barnet to the sword today as we knocked in five goals to their none.It seems that a partnership is forming with the 2 strikers as they both get on the score sheet.

The defence seemed to be gaining in confidence as the game wore on, and were starting to pass the ball about a bit. In midfield I moved Shaw to the wing and got Yahiaoui into the centre and he ran the game with 3 assists.

End Result… PNE win 5-0

Scorers Fuller 15th min, Arthur 35th, 37th, Brenne 47th, 50th

MoM Yahiaoui PNE 10/10

Awards

Ok we might not have set the town alight with our play of the season so far but just of late young Shaw has been playing out of his skin to get us going in the right direction. He gets from the players committee player of the month for Nov and the goal of the month aswell.

I just hope this can spur on the players as for his efforts he gets to miss training for a week.

13 Dec 08 Brighton (a)

This game feels like a knitting pattern you win one, you lose one, you win one, you lose one. As you can guess we have losted yet again.

We thought we might have taken a point home with us but a poor defensive error from the back 5 had seen us let in a goal in the 65th minute to Janse.

End Result… Brighton win 1-0

MoM Ashton 8/10

Thursday Session

Maybe a new start?

We have a few chances to put the ball in the net but the strikers seem to be putting the chance past the post or over the bar. So to give the strikers a bit of competition I have got on loan to the end of the season H Porarinsson from Stevenage lets hope he can score the goals.

20 Dec 08 Lincoln (a)

So we go to Sincil Bank where Lincoln is in 5th place and us in 19th. We give a debut to the young player on loan from Stevenage Porarinsson who sets up the assist for the first goal and then gets on the score sheet himself with a well crafted worked goal with Fuller.

We seem to be playing a bit better now as we have gone to a 5-3-2 formation just to stop the goals from going in our net. At the end of the match we get our 3rd goal and maybe one goal to many as I don’t think we deserved to be a 3-0 win, but what the heck it feels good to start to see the ball go in the net a few times.

End Result… PNE win 3-0

Scorers Yahiaoui 9th, Porarinsson 17th, Fuller 90th

MoM Fuller… PNE 9/10

26 Dec 08 Wimbledon (h)

Ok I have said this before and come a cropper but seeing as the MK Dons are bottom of the league and we are 15th with 9 points ahead of them and with us at home, this must be a 3-point game for us.

So I stick with the team that won last game, but just before the game my captain Williamson is out for 2 weeks (tripped over his wage packet I bet)

Anyway back to the match and the players seem to have raised their game up a bit as we are on the attack from the start and get a goal after 7 minutes for Porarinsson that’s 2 in 2 so far

It seems that we are on a goal run at the moment as we get 2 more goals to take all 3 points

End Result… PNE win 3-0

Scorers Porarinsson 7th, Fuller 17th Yahiaoui 65th,

MoM Porarinsson… PNE 9/10

1 Jan 09 Southend (h)

So next up for us is another team above us, but only 5 places in front and a win for us would see us leap frog them and put us closer to the play off spots.

The team have hit a right hot streak as we get another win and this man from Stevenage has brought the best out of my team. We get off to a flyer and have the game won in the first half, as Southend do not have an answer to our forwards movement.

End Result… PNE win 3-0

Scorers Fuller 6th Porarinsson 9th, 37th,

MoM Fuller… PNE 9/10

Lets hope now we have the confidence to go on from this win

January Sales

We have only recruited one player in the sales and that S Brennan from Leicester as cover for my defence.

We tried to buy Porarinsson but were turned down, but we still have him on loan for the end of the season, which is a good bonus for us.

As for players on the move we have had an offer from Fulham for my young midfielder Ngalula Mbuyi that was accepted and now we wait

7 Jan 09 Stoke City (a)

Another game and could this be another win for us?

After a cagey 19 minutes where the game could have gone either way, a through pass down the right wing from Laurie found Porarinsson lose his marker and put us 1-0 up with a stunning strike. With our tails up we try and go for the 2nd goal and we get that as Fuller was brought down in the box. Yahiaoui steps up for the penalty and places the ball to the left of the keeper. 2-0.

Stoke come out with a new formation and get a goal back from a corner after Hribar rises above Duberry (his marker) to knock the ball into the bottom corner of the goal.

To finish of the game we get our 3rd from Fuller who seems to have found his scoring boots

End Result… PNE win 3-0

Scorers Porarinsson 20th, Yahiaoui 27th pen, Fuller 90th.

MoM Yahiaoui … PNE 10/10

Tiger Times

Well not much has changed down Hull way as they have slightly improved their league position but it really has been an underachieving season so far for Hull. Here is a run down of the league games....

Hull v Tottenham - (H) - 1-1

A poor performance again from Hull but they still managed to pull off a 1-1 draw with high flying Tottenham. It was near total domination for Tottenham as they put a sorry Hull side to the sword. However they could not convert their possession into goals until the 72nd minute when Postiga finally put the visitors one up. However a rare attack from Hull resulted in in Freddy Guarin scoring a fabulous equaliseer to give Hull an undeserved point.

Man Utd v Hull - (A) - 2-3

Next up was a daunting to visit to Old Trafford to visit Man Utd with their new manager Darren Gray at the helm. It was a tough game that Hull tried their best but in the end it was not quit good enough as Man Utd had the little bit extra quality about them. Hull showed some fighting spirit that has been sadly lacking in recent performances to come from two down to two all through a double from Julius Aghahowa, but no sooner had Hull equalised they went behind to a winner from Kanoute a minute later.

Hull v Birmingham - (H) - 2-2

A game Hull should have won but threw away in the end. Hull got off to the best possible start after a goal in only two minutes through Isaac Okoronkwo and they added a second on half time through Guarin. All seemed to be going well but then two Birmingham goals later and the game ended all square. It really was becoming a joke for Hull and the fans were starting to get restless as they see Hull drop further and further down the league.

Hull v West Ham - (H) - 0-2

Another game and yet another defeat for Hull as they were punished for not finishing their chances whereas West Ham took their opportunities easily. Hull were expecting yet another cricket score but they put in a much better performance against Rouch's champions but to no avail. Two superb Robinho goals gave West Ham the win.

Coventry v Hull - (A) - 1-0

A win in a hotly contested game. Both teams having numerous chances but on this occasion Hull's finishing was superior. It also gave them a much needed win and a goal from Stuart Elliot gave them their win.

Hull v Middlesbrough - (H) - 4-2

A home win at last!!!! it was what the fans were craving and Hull produced a great performance to give their fans their wish. A game Hull dominated just like last season but this year they got their rewards with four goals unlike last year when they got nothing. Boro could not get near Hull as Hull produced some breath taking football and the confidence was slowly coming back into their game. Goals from Styuart Elliot, Paulinho and a double from Marco Borriello gave Hull a fantastic win.

B]Blackburn v Hull - (A) - 1-0[/b]

Hull maybe embarking on a little run of form here. Let's not get ahead of ourselves though. Having disposed of Blackburn in the League Cup a couple of weeks previous Hull were hoping for a repeat of that result. It was a different stroy this time as Blackburn came out fighting and pressing Hull for everything. It was a game of few chances with both defences coming out on top. In the end a Marco Borriello effort was enough to give Hull the three points a climb up the league a little higher.

Hull v Wolves - (H) - 0-0

Hull just knew they were going to drop points in this encounter as Wolves came to The Circle. As usual they played 10 men behind the ball for most of the game and used Kenny Miller's pace up front to ht Hull on the break. This counter attacking that had hurt Hull in the past did not materialise as Hull dominated proceeding but just could penetrate the Wolves 10 man defence. It was an achievement to have six attempts on goal let alone getting three on target. Yet again another draw at home.

QPR v Hull - (A) - 3-1

An outstanding defensive performance and goalkeeping performance lay the foundations of this victory. QPR have a highly technical team and they showed Hull to play some great football at times. But with Roy Carroll on the top of his game they could not a find a way through. Hull played well and the chances they got they took with some great finishing sadly lacking in previous games. A double from new signing Florent Sinama-Pongolle and a goal from Borriello gave Hull the win.

Hull v Arsenal - (H) - 5-0

Payback is a bitch ain't it!!! Well this game was all about revenge for Hull and boy did they get it and then some. Arsenal took Hull apart on the last day of the season last year to put Hull out of the running for a champions league spot so this was praying on the mind of the Hull team and manager. It was one way traffic and Hull were lethal in front of goal. Freddy Guarin put Hull on up right on half time and they produced the mother of all second half performances. Further goals from Borriello, Downing and a double from Elliot gave Hull a tremendous victory.

Man City v Hull - (A) - 2-0

Man City have went from being champions league contenders to whipping boys of the Premiership as pretty much everyone beats them these days. Hull were no different as City put up little resistance as Hull ploughed through their defence at will. It was 2-0 going on five or six such was Hull's domination. It was Hull's front two that did the damage again as the grabbed a goal each.

Hull v Aston Villa - (H) - 2-1

This game could have ended horribly for Hull as they had dominated the game but could not put Villa away. Christopher Eagles put Hull ahead after only four minutes but then Jeffers equalised for Villa. Hull had to wait until the 73rd minute via the penalty spot to go ahead deservedly I may add. It was John Otsemobor who put the penalty away with a great penalty.

Norwich v Hull - (A) - 1-1

This was a game of two halves. In one half Norwich were excellent and Hull were poor and in the second half the roles were reversed. Hull had the better of the chances and Norwich had goalkeeper Kevin Thomson to thank as he made a couple of terrific saves to keep the scores level. Samba had put Norwich one up after only six minutes and it could have been more. Marco Borriello then equalised for Hull early in the second half and it could have been more after that.

Hull v Chelsea - (H) - 0-1

Hulls unbeaten run came to an end as a result of this defeat. Hull just could not hit the target time after time and they eventually paid the price as Mutu scored on the counter attack to give Chelsea the points.

Hull v Newcastle - (H) - 0-0

A tough game that Hull will be happy with a point as Newcastle sshaded this match. Hull had a few chances but again woeful finishing cost them two more points.

Cup Exploits

In the League Cup progress was being made for Hull as they progressed to the quarter finals where they faced Daz'a Man Utd who promptly thrashed them to go out of the League Cup. In the previous rounds they put out Blackburn 3-0 at Ewood Park and an outstanding 3-1 victory over Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

In the UEFA Cup they have had an easy tie and a 'Real' tough one. It was OB of Denmark in round one and they were easily beaten. In round two they then got Real Betis!!!!!! Hull managed to get a decisive away goal in a 2-1 defeat in Spain. In the return leg the tension at times was unbearable as Hull scraped through 1-0 and into round three they went where they will face CSKA Sofia in a tie that Hull should win.

In the FA Cup it was embarrassing as Hull crashed out to Chester of the Nationwide Third Division as Hepburn put out a weakened side and boy did they pay the price. Hepburn was irriate at the inability of his players to put the ball int he back of the net.

So not a good season for Hull with Hepburn hoping for a decent league finish to qualify for Europe and a run in the UEFA Cup to make up for the disappointment of going out of the domestic cups so early.

Planet Stevenage : Assistant Shows True Class In Managers Absence Due To Net Problems

Fans of Stevenage, fans of the Boro, as you can guess, I wasn't in charge for a while as I had internet problems and unfortunately had to settle for getting updates from the guys, thank you to Daz and Andy for providing the scores to me. My assistant seems to have done a great job and getting some very decent results for us, I did manage to return in the next session after some more problems but I wish I didnt as we just continued where we had been for the past two and a half seasons, dominating games and playing teams off the park but struggling to put the ball into the back of the net.

Anyway, lets see exactly how well Stromberg, my assistant for over 6 years now, has learned his trade from me......

Premiership

Visiting Stamford Bridge To Take On : Chelsea

Well a tough game to start with for the assistant, billionaires Chelsea are the hosts and will certainly be aiming to make their stars stand out from the crowd and show us exactly what world class is. Well, they provided everything but one thing, entertainment, so we helped them with that as goal king Semler put on a great display and bagged himself a brace to take home three points. Final Score : Chelsea 0 - 2 Stevenage Semler (2)

Visiting Broadhall Way is : Newcastle

This really doesnt seem like a good time to be away, another big game, the Magpies have a quality squad and consistent performers in the league. Both of us are currently fighting for the remaining two champions league places behind West Ham and Man Utd and a win for either of us would give us that slight needed advantage to make sure we get in. Well it was actioned pack but there were no goals which really makes it a pretty decent result for both sides. Final Score : Stevenage 0 - 0 Newcastle

Uefa Cup

Visiting The Warzone To Fight : M.Netanya

First leg : Stevenage 0 - 0 M.Netanya

It was time again for the Uefa Cup, the 2nd Round and after the poor first leg in which we should have hammered them for five we ended up not even getting one on the scoresheet. But in this tough away battle the lads came out on top and showed spirit and once more it was the one and only Semler who fired home to take us into the next round and continue our first ever european adventure! Final Score : M.Netanya 0 - 1 Stevenage Semler

The third round saw us get once more a very tough draw as we will face dutch side Roda JC who will certainly not be a push over. A very winnable game considering who we have already knocked out of europe but never the less, a difficult opponent to beat.

Premiership

Visiting St.Mary's To Play : Southampton

Its these type of mid table teams that we have to beat and the assistant certainly knows that and did not have failure on his mind. A strong performance saw the lads take home more well earned points which are well needed. The front pairing gave us all the goal action and add more goals to their tally. Final Score : Southampton 1 - 3 Stevenage Hidalgo (2), Semler

League Cup 4th Round

Visiting Villa Park To Play : Aston Villa

A cup game and not even the reserves get to play as I'm not there to put them in charge so it was no suprise that a comeback wasnt gonna happen when the team went down two nil, they did get a late consolation goal with Semler scoring once more but it just was not enough Final Score : Aston Villa 2 - 1 Stevenage Semler

Premiership

Visiting Broadhall Way is : Everton

The Assistant doing well once more as he went on to get the three points from another team that we should be beating anyway. So credit that he has not slipped up after the cup disappointment and it was the south american Hidalgo who managed to bag a brace. Final Score : Stevenage 3 - 1 Everton Hidalgo (2)

Visiting Upton Park To Play : West Ham

I managed to return......but that lasted till half time. West Ham got two very early goals as for some reason my defence just didnt seem to know why they turned up at Upton Park, after changing formation, we started having some great chances but like the last couple of seasons, it doesnt matter if their 2 yards from goal or 18 yards from goal.......they just wont put it in the back of the net, its really odd. I missed the rest but we only lost by three goals which is better than last season and it was a game that we were never gonna win anyway. Final Score : West Ham 3 - 0 Stevenage

Visiting Craven Cottage To Play : Fulham

Once more, I am absolutely stressed out and my frustration continues to be at a maximum as we completely played them off the park and they never even had a chance, then in CM tradition the 1 shot 1 goal ratio came to play and gifted them the goal. We currently hold a 25 shots to 1 goal ratio as eventually Semler got a goal for us but it should have been easily 5, which it would have been for any other team with the same chances. Final Score : Fulham 1 - 1 Stevenage Semler

FA Cup 3rd Round

Visiting Upton Park To Play : West Ham

It was time for the reserves to get a kick about again as they havnt had one for a while, they did us proud in this game as they actually did better than the first team against the Mighty West Ham. Of course, it was a case of how many and the reserves did very well by keeping it down to three goals, but they also got a goal themselves which last season's hero Magno Silva-Viera grabbed for us.Final Score : West Ham 3 - 1 Stevenage Magno

Visiting White Hart Lane To Play : Tottenham

I think it will be a lot easier for my stress level and enjoyment of CM to just let my assistant play my games as we lose yet another game which we should have easily won and got three points. Instead, the very few chances Spurs had, all went in of course, with us struggling at the other end to score, why they cant score is a massive mystery to everyone. Semler got one goal for us but of course it should have been so many more but the "curse" gets its own way once more.. Final Score : Tottenham 3 - 1 Stevenage Semler

Well some disappointments for sure in that session and this non-scoring curse that has been happening to us has been going on for far too long and its spoiling the enjoyment of the game for me as after dominating a game completely and creating numerous chances they just keep "passing" it to the keeper or skying it over, despite the stats they need being more than adequate to match the best and should see goals!!!!!!!

Well the Stevenage board are very thrilled with my commitment to the club having turned down, Man Utd, Arsenal and even Chelsea who have recently approached me, they are big jobs and very, very tempting thats for sure, however, I see taking such a big profile club as an easy way out. I think however that it may be time to move on though, Stevenage are still in my eyes a very small club, it would take yet another 10 years before it could challenge the big clubs as it just cannot compete financially.

With a stadium expansion going finally to 13000 it still is not big enough to help finance a decent wage structure. So yes, the Stevenage manager could be in his last season with Stevenage!!! We see how it goes but I must confess that I was intending to do what I did in EFB1 by taking over a conference team once more and trying to promote them through the leagues. Its all a matter of the right team coming available icon_wink.gif

Wed, 3.12.2008 - 19:45 (H) Oldham - League Cup 4th Rnd

A double from Simonetta and one from Arteta in the first half settled the game before we reached the break with the second half looking more like an exhibition match than a competitive cup game against the lower league opposition. An easy win for the Hammers icon_wink.gif

Simonetta 35, 41

Arteta 43

Wed, 10.12.2008 - 19:45 (H) Inter - Champions Cup Grp E

The final game of the group stage which West Ham have already qualified from, but this game decides who finishes top and gives West Ham the chance to avenge their opening game defeat in this group to Inter. Inter start the scoring however, with a goal from Martins within 5 minutes of the start! Kristjanssen brings things level with a strike mid way through the first half, and both sides go in to the break with a goal each. The second half was a very tightly fought contest until the 82nd minute when West Ham are awarded a penalty which Simonetta converts to give West Ham the winner and passage as group Winners to the knock out phase. icon_cool.gif

Kristjanssen 23 Martins 5

Simonetta 82

Att : 24692

Sat, 13.12.2008 – 15:00 (A) Wolves - Premier Division

A trip to the midlands and an early opener from Simonetta made things look promising! Unfortunately it all went down hill after that with Fredy William Thompson sustaining an injury on half time. The second half saw Wolves press home the advantage against a reorganised West Ham midfield and goals from Carruthers and Collins ensured the three points stayed at the Moulineux icon_mad.gif

Wed, 17.12.2008 - 19:45 (A) Aston Villa - League Cup Qtr Final

An away tie for the league cup final and another midland team on the fixture list! West Ham scored 4 in the first half with no reply with strikes from Robinho (twice), Arteta and Thompson. The second half saw the Villans struggle vainly to find a way back, but with strikes from Neill and Vassell, they couldn’t quite make up the first half deficit and West Ham marched into the League cup semi finals icon_biggrin.gif

Result : Aston Villa 2 West Ham 4

After the high of qualifying for the League cup semi final, its back to the premiership and the pursuit of points, and Steve Gold’s Stevenage are the next visitors to the Boleyn Ground. Robinho gets the crowd buzzing with an early goal after just 2 minutes! Arteta nabs another 5 minutes later, and Thompson misses a penalty on 13, a very hectic start to the game! Stevenage then reverted to the roughhouse tactics and injured Bertlesen and Robinho, but could not get through to score. The second half brought another goal for the Hammers, this time from Simonetta, and another missed penalty, this time Stevenages own Hidalgo! Stevenage were unable to reply to the West Ham goals and the Hammers grabbed another three points in their pursuit of Man Utd and top spot! icon_cool.gif

Result : West Ham 3 Stevenage 0

Robinho 2

Arteta 7

Simonetta 52

Tue, 30.12.2008 - 19:30 (H) Q.P.R - Premier Division

Man Utd v Hull, League Cup Quater Final

In a game most pundits expected to be tight there were a few face's shocked that Man Utd feilded a full strenth squad for the tie. There dominace showed from the off and from the first whistle blowing it was constant pressure on Hull. Frddie Kanoute, the hattrick hero the game before was again in outstanding for and bagged himself a couple of goals the other scores were Richardson. Van Der Vaart and substitute Sidney Govou

FT 5 - 0

Newcastle v Man Utd, Premiership

In a game between two great rivals of English Football i suppose a draw was a fair result at the end of the day. The goals cam late on in the game with Klose the old enemy scoring on 79 only to have his effort cancelled out by Van Der Vaart probably the best player for The Red Devils all season.

FT 1 - 1

Man Utd v Southampton, Premiership

Another home victory for Man Utd this season saw Southampton only get 3 put past them. The goals came in the form of Van Der Varrt in the 26th & 60th minutes and a goal from Frenchman Govou in the 53rd. Gray would be proud of his men as they keep up the form of earlyier games

FT 3 - 0

Man Utd v Ipswich, FA Cup 3rd Round

Man Utd played a reserve team except for a few new names. Man Utd unvielled the signings of Kirkland and Pazinni and although they were playing first division opponents Pazzini showed the class in which Gray paid 10million for the former seria B grabbing 5 goals in his first game. Gray will also be pleased to see Kirkland kept a clean sheet on his debut. There were other scorers in the game however and Govou added a further 2 goals to his talley for the season and a goal for young Matthew McMahon

FT 8 - 0

Man Utd v Everton, Premiership

Man Utd entertained the Toffes at old trafford and they were in fine form, but no one was more in form than Van Der Varrt who once again bagged himself a hattrick once again. The dutch International seems to have really started to blossom under Grays guidence and must be a strong contender for PFA players of the year at the end of the season. Mind you Pazinni scored another 2 and is looking every bit of the striker Gray has talked up to us about since he announced his signing. Another fine display by Man Utd

FT 5 - 0

Stevenage v Man Utd, Premiership

For the first time this season Man Utd were on the end of a hiding and even manager Darren Gray admited the prefomance after the game was totally unexceptable and Stevenage totally deserved the win. Goals from Advaldo, Juliusson and Semler 2 were enough to give Stevenage the win. Van Der Varrt got the only goal for Man Utd.

FT 4 - 1

A tough couple of sessions for the Red Devils, They really need to turn thing around and get back to there best form if they want to win the premiership title as West Ham are still breathing down there nexk. Can Gray hang on and win his first major trophie in EFB

Monday session

Welcome to yet another instalment of my progress in the 2nd Division. Lets hope we can keep up the good work we have shown in the last few games.

10 Jan 09 Ipswich Town (a)

So we are on the move up the table and we are about to play the team in 3rd place. A team who we have not beaten for 3 seasons and looking at t he scout report we are in for a hard time as we are made 16-1 to win the game.

We start of pretty well and hold out the attacks that we are under after 20 minutes of the game. A bit of shouting from the coaches on the side starts to give the lads a kick up the backside that they needed.

I get them back into the dressing room all square and am a bit satisfied with what I have seen ,but I do stress to them that we need to get a win here otherwise all our hard work so far would be for nothing.

A superb one two with the strikers sees Porarinsson opens up the scoring after 50 minutes. We have a bad break in the second half as we have A Roberts sent off for 2 book able offensives. A change of tactic is needed to stop the flow of attacks and we go to a 3-5-1 to try to cover the midfield.

A break away in the last few mins of the game sees us get another goal and a place in the top 6. a good result for us tonight.

End Result… PNE win 2-0

Scorers Porarinsson 50th, Fuller 90th.

MoM Price… PNE 9/10

As for players on the move we have had an offer from Fulham for my young midfielder Ngalula Mbuyi that was accepted and now we wait, well we have had an offer of £500k for the player and we have said our goodbyes to him and hope he has no regrets on leaving us for Fulham some how I don’t think he will, do you ?

17 Jan 09 Bradford City (h)

Ok another hard game for us. Again we play a team in the top 3 and a team that we ain’t had the best of starts with. Bradford have gone now 8 games undefeated and have put in 17 goals to 2 against in this time.

The game is a bit of a dull affair but we do get the better of the shots on goal. Seeing as our striker Fuller is out for 2 weeks we have a change of player up front with Porarinsson, but it does little effect as Porarinsson comes away with a 3/10.

This game has put our team down to 8th in the league but we are still in with a shout of a play off place.

End Result…Draw 0-0

MoM N Davies… PNE 8/10

24 Jan 09 Reading (a)

What a goal to win the match. Ingimarsson the Icelandic who has got his first goal for the club.

A free kick from just inside our half on the right hand side of the pitch was played by Keogh onto the head of Bidyut who got above my players. His lay off to Ingimarsson who was just outside the box saw him shoot low and hard into the bottom corner. 1-0

After throwing all but the kitchen sink at Reading we could not get that goal to get a point. This defeat puts us down to 10th now and we are slowly losing ground in the play off stakes.

I think we are starting to struggle in the centre of the park as Yahiaoui has been missing for the last few games due to a suspension and is showing against the last 2 teams.

End Result…Reading win 1-0

MoM Ingimarsson… Reading 9/10

Tuesdays session to follow…

PNE_badge_cm_clan.jpg

Tuesday Session

28 Jan 09 Gillingham (h)

What a game we have in the making here. Both teams are trying to find that extra spark to kick their season of again. We welcome back Yahiaoui after he has missed the last few games, and what a game he has had in the centre of midfield. 2 goals and 1 assist in our win over our visitors, but alas he still did not get the MoM award he’s good but not that good today

End Result… PNE win 5-0

Scorers Williamson 39th, Yahiaoui 44th, 76th, Porarinsson 80th, Duberry 90th.

MoM Woodhouse… PNE 10/10

31 Jan 09 Oxford (a)

Can we get another win, lets hope so as we are only 2 places off the play off place.

A cagey game with both teams thinking about the defence element of their teams sees little chances in the first 20 minutes. We get a good break on the counter attack sees Arthur put the ball in the net from 6 yards out after a miss kick from the Oxford defence. 1-0 to us and im fairly confident that we can hold out till ½ time as our defence has been playing well this last few games.

NO it cant be ….. Oxford have scored from a corner with a diving header from Clark 31 minutes so we are now at 1-1. we do get ahead just before ½ time with a well crafted team goal.

Second half sees us in no trouble as we have taken control of the match now. And to make sure we do not lose this game we get a 3rd.

End Result… PNE win 3-0

Scorers Arthur 20th, 44th, Fuller 90th.

MoM Arthur… PNE 9/10

Another Award this time its for Neil Davies as he picks up the young player of the month for January

7 Feb 09 Farnborough (h)

A big blunder by our keeper who could not hold onto a shot, lets in mills for the 1st goal of the game. We soon get one back and a second just on half time to cancel out Farnborough second of the match a minute before ours.

Second half sees no more action in the goals area and both teams come away with a point each.

The bad part of the match was to see our on loan striker taken off for playing so badly as he only got a rating of 3. perhaps the burden of carrying the team on his shoulders is getting to him at the moment, but it’s a team game and of late he has not been at his best so a rest might be due.

End Result… Draw 2-2

Scorers Yahiaoui 20th, Fuller 44th.

MoM Somerville..Farnborough 8/10

14 Feb 09 Swindon (h)

So with a few changes in the team we go up against a team that is on a good run in the league at the moment. One of our players plays a blinder and gets us the goals to win the match. After 60 minutes tho he is injured and maybe out of action for 2 weeks.

The win still does not put us in the top 6 yet as we are 1 point off it.

End Result… PNE win 2-1

Scorers Arthur 13th, 40th,

MoM Arthur… PNE 9/10

18 Feb 09 Burnley (a)

A game where we outclassed today and were lucky to come away with something out of the match. A very good free kick had seen us go a goal behind. All credit to the lads we did get a goal back.

This is a game where we were not at our best but the result put us into the play off place.

End Result… Draw 1-1

Scorers Arthur 67th

MoM Talbot…Burnley 9/10

21 Feb 09 Doncaster (h)

Yet another game in a matter of days and the fitness of the team is starting to come under scrutiny. Some of the lads are starting to feel their legs at this time of the season.

We are at home to one of the bottom teams in the league so it should be 3 points to us. No it aint as we have most of the shots in the game 10 to their 1 we could not get that goal.

Porarinsson who has been so good for us at the start of the loan has now decided to play rather poorly. He was dragged of the pitch yet again with a rating of 4 this time (I think it all stems from him signing a new contract with his own club and now he feels he does not have to prove himself )

b] End Result… Draw 0-0 [/b]

MoM Brennan…Doncaster 8/10

So there you have tonights session. Preston have reached one of their objectives and that was to get into the play off place. Im still on the look out for a decent striker as we are starting to rely on the one player and I defiantly need back up in that department.

Considering this is my first season in charge we are on course to what I wanted from the team and are in a position to make a move in the last few games of the season.

Next update will be from Thursdays session….

Tiger Times - The Turnaround????

Well we are now mid way through the 2008/2009 season and things seem to be getting slowly better for Andrew Hepburn's Hull. They find themselves in 8th posistion but only four points away from fifth spot in the league. Here is a rundown of the league games to get them into that position......

The League Campaign

Southampton v Hull - (A) - 0-1

After a tough game against Newcastle it was time for the long trip to the south coast to face a Southampton side struggling in the league for any points at all. However from this display it looked like Hull were the bottom side and Southampton were challenging for European Football such was the nature of the performances from both teams. Hull were terrible and lacklustre whereas Southampton were up for a fight. It was a game dominated by Southampton and Hepburn again was absolutely irrate at his players both at half time and full time.

Hull v Everton - (H) - 1-0

It was time for a good boot up the arse from Hepburn to his players. He had finally snapped and demanded more from his players or else they would be shown the door as for much of this season they have not performed anywhere near as well as they should have. He got a response from his players but they owe a huge thankyou to Roy Carroll as he made some outstanding saves to keep Everton out. Paulinho got the important winner for Hull but Richard Wright in the Everton goal pulled off some stunning saves to keep the scoreline close. Better performance from Hull.

Stevenage v Hull - (A) - 1-1

Next up was another away trip to Steven Gold's Stevenage who thrashed Hull the last time the two sides met. It was a different story this time around as Hull battled well although Stevenage did have the better of the game. Hull's Florent Sinama-Pongolle put Hull in front after only sixteen minutes but Boro equalised early in the second half through Advaldo. Both teams had a couple of other chances to grab the winner but it was not to be. It was a quite boring encounter, no wonder Hull are not on TV too much.

Hull v Fulham - (H) - 6-2

This was a shock result for the fans as they were expecting another close encounter as apart from the game against Arsenal, Hull had been poor this season. It started very wrong for Hull as Louis Saha put Fulham ahead with a good turn and strike. After that it was all Hull as they demolished Fulham. Wave after wave of attack provided the fans with some excellent viewing. Stuart Elliot got Hull back into the game with a great goal. Then step up new signing Eldar Hadzi as he put Hull ahead with his first goal for the club. Isaac Okoronkwo then put Hull 3-1 up with a great header from a Guarin corner. Fulham then pulled a goal back but Hull stepped up the pace again and Freddy Guarin restored Hull's two goal advantage with a penalty. It was party time for the Hull fans as they had had little to celebrate. Marinelli then put Hull 5-2 up with an absolutely brilliant solo goal as Hull were flying. Then to round off the scoring it was new signing Eldar Hadzi who smashed home number six for Hull. What a performance!!!! icon_cool.gif

Tottenham v Hull - (A) - 1-3

Hull came back down to earth with a bump as Tottenham tore them apart with an exception performance. Hull were never it.

Hull v Man Utd - (H) - 1-1

It was time for Darren Gray's Man Utd to come calling to The Circle. Previous meetings between the two sides suggested another Hull thrashing was on the cards. It was not what was expected as Hull put up a great fight and actually shaded the game. Both teams created a great number of chances and it should have been more than 1-1 but the goalkeepers were on top form. Stuart Elliot put Hull ahead after forty two minutes only for Kanoute to equalise three minutes later. But Hull dusted themselves down and came out fighting in the seocnd half and created a few chances as did Man Utd. Hull could have won it right at the death but for a terrific treble save from Kirkland kept the score level. Hepburn was very pleased with the performance and felt his side could have won, he was half way down the touchline watching the goalmouth scramble at the end but it was not to be.

Birmingham v Hull - (A) - 3-2

Another terrific performance from Hull who are starting to play some good football and fight for the club again. For forty minutes it was superb football from Hull and they went ahead through Eldar Hadzi after twenty four minutes and it should have been more in that forty minute period. Then Frazer Richardson stupidly got himself involved and duly got sent off as a result of this. Birmingham then came out in the second half a different team and went for Hull as they only had ten men. Carlton Cole got their equaliser only for Eldar Hadzi to put Hull in front almost immediately. it was superb stuff. Hull were fighting all the way but then disaster struck as Birmingham got another equaliser as the Hull players were starting to tire after giving everything. But Hull found a winner from Stuart Elliot as they did deserve it overall. They had fought so hard with 10 men and got their reward with a great win.

So renewed optimism at The Circle with some good results in the last wee while could have Hull pushing for a European spot. Hepburn is hoping for a decent run in the UEFA Cup and to build for next season when he is expecting Hull to push.

Planet Stevenage : The Curse Is Still With Us.........But Also Is Some Joy!!

Fans of Stevenage, fans of the Boro, once more domination doesnt seem enough in football anymore, despite all the chances under the moon we're still dropping too many points and thankfully so are the teams around us. Hopefully something will change sometime soon as its just taking the **** now with the scoring curse over the club. Thankfully though, Semler has been there most of the time to score in the dying seconds when they finally did allow us to have something to celebrate!

Well lets see how its going in this mid-season run in.......

Premiership

Visiting The Theatre Of Nightmares is: Darren Gray's Red Devil's

Well it was time for the team who are leading the Premiership to pay us a visit at Broadhall Way, not just leading the Premiership, but they are currently unbeaten in the league after over 20 games and have been completely walking all over anything infront of them with five goals being the average scoreline when Utd are involved, all that since Mr Gray took over! Well he came to the smallest premiership club looking to secure three more points.......**** that! We need the points more than these rich boys! So we kicked them out of Europe earlier in the season and this time, we put a nice little 1 marker under the loss column icon_biggrin.gif It was a close game but the Stevenage attack was just too hot for the old Utd defence and ran riot with two goals from Semler, a goal from Advaldo and club captain Juliusson. No one saw this one coming and it couldnt have come at a better time icon_smile.gifFinal Score : Stevenage 4 - 1 Man Utd Semler (2), Advaldo, Juliusson

Visiting St.Andrews To Play : Birmingham

We very much expected a win here after our last result and it certainly looked like another goal frenzy, key word was "looking" there as play went all our in this game. We had a cracking two goal lead with the man who can scoring another double, you guessed, Semler on target when required. Brum got a goal but it was in the 92nd minute after our defence appeared to already gone home! Still, three points to take home with us and much needed. Final Score : Birmingham 1 - 2 Stevenage

Visiting Broadhall Way is : Andy's Tigers

Another low key event this one, not even the eastern european tv channels wanting to broadcast it! But never the less, we carried on anyway. Hull took the lead and then continued a bit of boring action before we had half time. We got an equaliser and there could have been a goal for either side after that as both had a couple of cracking chances but a draw is a fair result in this boring game........which i blame the opponents for icon_wink.gificon_biggrin.gifFinal Score : Stevenage 1 - 1 Hull Advaldo

Visiting Highfield Road to face : Coventry

Well it was a case of, the Sky Blues scoring first after a rainstorm of shots at the Coventry goal from us and not even getting one. Seems keepers are playing their best ever games against us, every keeper, every game! It was the captain who got the more than deserved equaliser, seems to score just when its really needed, one of many games this season were we have lost 2 points! Final Score : Coventry 1 - 1 Stevenage Juliusson

Visiting Broadhall Way is : Middlesborough

Well if there is any team in this league that we started to really like playing then it has to be Boro, after beating them last season, I knew the lads could do it again and they didnt let me down either! A good performance once more by Semler as he grabbed a brace, the other goal was scored by moany dane Rommedahl! Final Score : Stevenage 3 - 1 Middlesbrough Semler(2), Rommedahl

News in is that Broadhall Way has had its stadium expansion work completed, a total of 5034 extra seats where built meaning our capacity now rises to a massive 13888!!

Visiting Ewood Park To Play : Blackburn

After creating some absolute cracking chances we just couldnt put that ball into the back of the net, Rovers went close a couple of times but we finally managed to break the dead lock in the second half with an unlikely scorer as it was right back Wayne Thomas who advanced forward and headed in a cross. Final Score : Blackburn 3 - 1 Stevenage Thomas

Visiting Broadhall Way is : Wolves

Wolves had two shots in the first 20minutes, of course, they scored from their first shot aswell as Chopra scored after 3 defenders didnt even bother challenging him. That was all they had to offer in this game, for the rest of the game Wolves never had a shot, not a sausage........but they still got a draw! Absolutely unbelievable, another 2 points dropped after the shots were raining on the Wolves goal. It really must be a curse or superman conviently drops by every saturday to play for the opposition! Final Score : Stevenage 1 - 1 Wolves Hidalgo

We also signed Portugese Vieirinha who played pretty well in both the games he has been involved in and looks very promising on doing a good job for us in the Premiership. With Steve Jackson out for 2months he is a much needed player for our strike force. We gotta score somehow and hopefully he will be part of the answer!

The plan for the rest of the season is to try and fight off Chelsea and Spurs for that 4th and final Champions league spot. Its pretty tight but if we can get a good run of wins then its without a doubt in our reach and would be more than amazing for a club of this size to be in europe's biggest competition. This week's session has seen us go 7 games unbeaten which is certainly good but we got too many draws for my liking and the dropping of points is very frustrating when we easily deserved more!

More news and action after Thursday when we will also see Uefa Cup action!

The Irons took an early two goal lead over the gunners through Robinho and Simonetta and things were looking good for the boys in Claret and Blue at Ashburton Grove! Kristjansson 62

Att : 31909

Sat, 17.1.2009 - 15:00 (A) Man City - Premiership

Man City had taken the points at Upton Park under the Stewardship of Darren Gray, but that Manager was now branded a Judas by the blues, and were now playing host to the hammers, who were looking for revenge! And the Hammers certainly got that! Keeping all 11 players on the pitch this time certainly helped. Kristjannson grabbed 2, Robinho got his hatrick, and Arteta chipped in with one as well as the Irons ran riot! It had started well for Citeh to, as Distin opened the scoring for them after 60 seconds, but were swept aside by the avalanche of goals from West Ham. icon_cool.gif

Result : West Ham 0 Man Utd 1

Pozzini 37

Att : 37771

Wed, 4.2.2009 - 19:30 (A) Norwich - Carling Cup Semi Final Leg 2

This game was virtually decided in the first leg, and when the Hammers added another two goals from Robinho and Simonetta to the aggregate before half time there was no way back for Wayne Bristers Canaries. Berry and Klose tried to rally the troops in the second half with goals to level it on the night, but to no avail as West Ham marched in to the Carling Cup Final! icon_biggrin.gif

Result : Norwich 2 West Ham 2

Berry 56 Robinho 33

Klose 61 Simonetta 40

Att : 324710

Sat, 7.2.2009 - 15:00 (H) Birmingham - Premiership

Arteta 66

Robinho 75

Att : 23603

Sat, 14.2.2009 - 15:00 (H) Wrexham - FA Cup 5th Rnd

With West Ham still competing on all fronts, the temptation for some managers is to rest players and let the reserves play in the cup games, but not at West Ham. A full strength West Ham laid to rest the challenge of Wrexham after an early scare from a Cartwright goal! icon_eek.gif Robinho, Simonetta and Blasi all scored to secure entry into the draw for the next round icon_cool.gif

Result : West Ham 3 Wrexham 1

Robinho 13 Cartwright 4

Simonetta 63

Blasi 90

Att : 18431

Sat, 21.2.2009 | 15:00 | A | Norwich | Premiership

After eliminating the Canaries from the League cup to gain entry to the final, West Ham faced Delia’s delights in the premiership, but this time a single goal from Simonetta was the difference, as yet again the 3 points travelled home with the hammers icon_biggrin.gif

Result : Norwich 0 West Ham 1

Simonetta 49

Att : 24253

Wed, 25.2.2009 | 19:45 | A | PSV | Champions League 2nd Rnd Leg 1

Result : PSV 0 West Ham 1

So, another month draws to a close and West Ham are still competing in all competitions, a league cup final to play next month, and well positioned in the Premier League!

Thursday Session

11 Mar 09 Chesterfield (a)

We are playing a team who are just below us in the league, but a team that we have not beaten for over 3 seasons. Some how its going to be a hard fought game.

I thought we had this game well and truly in the bag. By going 2-0 up the lads took their foot of the gas and let Chesterfield back into the game straight after the break. 2 goals by Edwards one of them a penalty had given us an uphill task to stay in the game.

We did get a lucky break when McGowen had put into his own net. A bit of some bad defending from our defence had let in davies with an easy tap in.

This result drops us out of the top 6

End Result… Draw 3-3

Scorers Arthur 17th 36th, McGowen og 75th

MoM Arthur …PNE 9/10

14 Mar 09 Darlington (h)

Now we take on the team that’s in 8th place to our 7th . could we put our miss hap behind us?

The team go right for the throat as we try and over run them in midfield and try to play the direct ball to the front 2. we do get our noses in front when we have a penalty given to us after Arthur was pulled down. Up steps Brenne to take the kick, but the idiot places it straight down the middle and the ball hits the keepers legs and comes back out for Brenne to get the rebound.1-0 to us and the crowd go wild and so do the subs.

Arthur who is playing out of his skin lately gets another goal for us to make the game safe till ½ time.

The second part of the game sees no more goals to the match and we get a win to put us back up to 6th.

End Result… PNE…win 2-0

Scorers Brenne 11th Arthur 17th

MoM Laurie …PNE 9/10

21 Mar 09 Leicester (a)

We had 19 shots at goal to Leicester’s 3 and you would think that we would win the game from this total. Well we did but sometimes things like this do not go your way. We had to work really hard to get the result today and it was only in the last 15 minutes of the game where our fitness started to show that we got our noses in front.

End Result… PNE…win 2-0

Scorers Duberry 76th Arthur 89th

MoM Arthur…PNE 10/10

After this game we said bye bye to “Blackadder†who was a good player but was not getting the games he wanted and would not put pen to paper for a new contract. So it was decided to cash in on him.

The good thing about the transfer was that we have a big follow on clause if he is sold, and we ended up with a part ex aswell.

Bad news for us is that we have just found out that Fuller is out for the rest of the season as he has done a hamstring while playing for his country.

This man Arthur picks up the award for player of the month for march, he seems to like these bottles of champers

The last game of the session tonight saw us play the bottom team in the league.

4 Apr 09 Colchester (h)

A game that only came into life in the second half. Colchester had come to us with a strong back line and leaving one player up front. They had come for the draw big style.

Ok we had got an early goal but we could still not break down the stubborn defence.

A player making his comeback game after injury scored the goal of the match with a 35 yarder screamer after 71 minutes. We started to open up the defence with some slick passing that seemed to open up the defence like a hot knife going through butter

This result moves us up to 4th but its getting rather close up there, and any slips by any team has a big say in the final positions.

End Result… PNE…win 5-0

Scorers Yahiaoui 4th, Arthur 60th,90th, Watson 71st, Porarinsson 88th.

MoM Arthur…PNE 9/10

Another Great run of results kept Torquay in the place for automatic promotion. Convincing away wins at Leeds and Notts Forest with and equally good home record has sent shivers down Torquays fans that they could be actually playing the best of the best in the Premiership next season.

A new 24-year old barzilian keeper was another good addition to the already building squad as promising italian youngstar Costanzo decided he had enough of The Gulls and wanted a move away for some unkown reason as he was gettin on fine until the interest from sampadoria got to the kids head and now hes been demotted to 4th spot for the position which means hes likely to be heading out in the summer with the new signing taking over the Reign.

Even though the club has being doing great and gettin constantly good results, they have been major injuries to key players such as James Graham, defender lewis buxton and inspired midfielder Richard Jones. But to succeed you need a big squad with quality reservers incase of these situations, 17-year old James Harrison is coming up to around 20 goals for his first senior season with his partner Serge Makofo also working his majic. The promising youngster about 17-year old James Hodges runs the midfield nearly everytime he starts, its just great to see a 17-yr old having no fear and playing to his full potential. In defence Peter Coleman was bought late on last season at the age of 16 he is now 17 and has established himself as a first-team player and i cant see things changing any time soon.

Hopefully if the club do get promoted i hope the board will finally agree to my stadium expansion request after failing

he last 3 times. We are at a mere 6000 and only 2500 seated which we will not be able to survive due to the amount of players and wage request we are gonna need to survive our frist season but im keen to stick it out and see what happens and you never know with a few addtions the squad we have at the moment we may be able to compete, who knows.

As you can see Torquay have already clinched the Playoff place but The Gulls are not taking advantage of any game and treating each game as important as the last.

Look out for more updates on a maybe fairytale ending for The Gulls.

Champions! The quest for more silverware 08/09

Sun, 1.3.2009 - 15:00 (N) Newcastle - Carling Cup Final

The League cup final against the Hammers Bogey team, Newcastle. The game kicked off and West Ham went straight for the jugular, and were rewarded after 8 minutes with a goal from Oskarsson, and again two minutes later form Oskarsson again, the Hammers fans dare not believe it could last though after the number of times a winning position had been thrown away in finals and against Newcastle, but hold on they did as the Geordies threw everything at them in an attempt to get back in the game to no avail. 2-0 the final score at Wembley and West Ham collect their second trophy of the current season. Champions! icon_biggrin.gif

Result : West Ham 2 Newcastle 0

Oskarsson 8, 10

Att : 83404

Wed, 4.3.2009 - 19:30 (A) Aston Villa - Premiership

A real treat for the travelling fans, as both sides went goal crazy! Robinho started the whole goalfest after 15 minutes, Oskarsson added within a minute, and then went on to complete his hatrick in the next 15 minutes, and then Robinho secured his brace to take the hammers in 5-0 up at half time! icon_eek.gif Moore started the fight back for Villa grabbing 2 before Oskarsson netted his fourth, then got his own hatrick shortly after, only for Kristjansson to grab West Hams seventh in the dying seconds! What a game! Value for money for the paying public! icon_cool.gif

Result : Aston Villa 3 West Ham 7

Moore 67, 73, 85 Robinho 15, 39

Oskarsson 16, 25, 29, 76

Kristjansson 90

Att : 38373

Sat, 7.3.2009 - 15:00 (H) Peterborough - FA Cup 6th Rnd

A dull first half which left the Posh fans believing they could sneak a shock win was put to shame by an explosive second half performance from Simonetta who grabbed a hat trick to put the Hammers through to the next round icon14.gif

Result : West Ham 3 Peterborough 0

Simonetta 53, 72, 82

Att : 26067

Wed, 11.3.2009 - 19:45 (H) PSV - Champions League 2nd Rnd Leg 2

After a 1-0 win in Holland West Ham were reasonably confident, with the home leg to play. PSV had other ideas though and defended resolutely and tried to hit West Ham on the break. The first half was goalless, and the two goals that lit up the second half were scored withing 2 minutes of each other as first Robinho put the Hammers further ahead on aggregate only for Hesselink to even things up on the night, which is how it stayed and West Ham progress to the quarter final stage of the tournament icon_biggrin.gif

Result : West Ham 1 PSV 1

Robinho 59 Hesselink 61

Sun, 15.3.2009 - 15:00 (H) Hull - Premiership

Hull had recently sacked their Manager of nearly six years, Andy Hepburn, after he upset too many of the playing staff, and the New manager was attempting to do something Hepburn had never done, avoid defeat to the Hammers. The Tigers managed a goalless bore draw, by packing the defence and stifling every attacking move icon_frown.gif

Result : West Ham 0 Hull 0

Att : 23327

Wed, 18.3.2009 - 19:30 (A) Chelsea - Premiership

An ideal start with a penalty after 2 minutes fro the Hammers, which Thompson duly converted. Arteta doubled the advantage 3 minutes later and the memories of the weekends goal less bore draw were banished in very quick order! Crespo pulled one back for the blues, and then Joe Cole scored against his former club to pull it back to 3-2 at half time. The second half bought further goals from West Hams Simonetta with a brace to no reply from the Blues and Chelsea’s other West Ham old boy, Glen Johnson sent off. icon_smile.gif

Result : Chelsea 2 West Ham 5

Crespo 15 Thompson 2

Cole 42 Arteta 5, 36

Simonetta 62, 69

Att : 42427

Sat, 21.3.2009 - 15:00 (H) Coventry - Premiership

It seems West Ham have really been upset by that goalless game against Andy Hepburns successor at Hull, and are making the opposition pay in each of the subsequent games, 5 goals with a hatrick for Oskarsson and a brace for Simonetta as the Hammers dismantle Coventry with ease icon_biggrin.gif

Result : West Ham 5 Coventry 0

Oskarsson 13, 27, 84

Simonetta 19, 61

Att : 24396

Wed, 25.3.2009 - 19:45 (H) Real Sociedad - Champions League Qtr Final Leg 1

West Ham still in goalscoring mode as they go into the Champions League quarter finals and Arteta hits the net before a minute has passed, he scores his second and Blasi grabs a third before Rekarto pulls one back for the travelling Spanish team. The second half sees Robinho Grab a hatrick, and Simonetta a brace with Real Sociedad limited to responses from Diego and Kovacevic, to all but kill the tie and virtually guarantee the Irons safe passage to the Semi Finals of the Champions League icon14.gif

Result : West Ham 8 Real Sociedad 3

Arteta 1, 18 Rekarto 40

Blasi 32 Diego 69

Robinho 62, 70, 87 Korvacevic 90

Simonetta 76, 90

Att : 19908

A very successful month, the league cup won, progress to the semi final of the FA cup, Champions League success, and still sitting 2nd in the league waiting for Darren Gray’s Man Utd to slip up. Manager of the Month award is not surprisingly, awarded to my good self icon_biggrin.gificon_wink.gif
