  1. I've just started my 2nd season of FM 24, having won the FA cup & community shield, and also getting Champions League football in my first season with Spurs. I reinvented the whole squad and got some amazing players in who are ALL reaching their potential so far. Unfortunately I probably overpaid and bought Simon Adingra (22 year old left winger from Brighton), for 90 million as my scouts said he had a 5 star potential. I've played him in almost every game and he's been absolutely terrible. He now only has a 3 star potential, and he's looking to have been a complete waste of money. I've put him on the transfer list and not a single team is interested in him. I've no idea why his potential has dropped so much and why he's not been performing well, when every single other player I've bought has performed extremely well and are on course to reach their full potential. Is there anything I can do about this? I'm playing him in his preferred position, I've got 5 star training coaches, the whole team's morale & happiness are great etc.
  2. I'm never sure whether or not to set opposition instructions, such as show onto weaker foot etc. I usually ask the assistant manager to set them, but to be honest they never really seem to make a difference anyway. Are there any times I should use them, and if so do I need to use them on a lot of opposition players like the assistant manager usually suggests? I often have a feeling that using the assistant manager's suggestions, it's just gonna bring my players out of position constantly considering he tends to suggest instructions on almost every opposition player. On the other hand I don't really want to completely ignore the opposition instructions as that may be even worse, but I'm really not sure when to use them, which specific ones to use, and on which players. Any help/tips would be appreciated. Thanks.
  3. I'm about to start a new game as Spurs, but Kane isn't really the kind of player that'll fit my tactics. Yes, he'll score loads of goals, but I prefer a striker that is really fast and makes a lot of runs in behind which I'm guessing Kane will rarely do. I'm not sure whether to sell him straight away or keep him for the first season and see if he does well, which should increase his transfer worth. Then again with him being 29, by the time the season's over he'll be 30 and his worth may drop dramatically even if he's been playing well.
  4. Great, thank you. Just out of curiosity, if I don't have "Pass into space" enabled, will they still pass into space from time to time anyway or will they just not bother at all? I don't really want to force it and keep losing the ball by attempting to pass into space, but if the option is on I'd rather my team took the opportunity instead of ignoring it just because I didn't have the option activated.
  5. Okay so this is the first time I've played FM in years, but "used" to be really good at it, so I've probably got a lot to catch up on. I'm playing as Spurs using a 4231 DM Wide formation. Roles as as follows: ST - Advanced Forward (Attack) Wingers - Inside Forward (Attack) CAM - Advanced Playmaker (Support) CDM 1 - Defensive Midfielder (Support) CDM 2 - Defensive Midfielder (Defend) Fullbacks - Fullback (Automatic) CBs - Central Defender (Defend) I've not really messed about too much with the width or anything like that and kept everything as default/balanced. I tried the pass into space and shorter passing, but didn't really seem to make any difference so I just reverted back to balanced.
  6. Thanks, I'll give that a shot. Also, on an unrelated note... How do I see each league's top scorers & top assists?
  7. I've been having a lot of trouble recently with keeping possession and often end games with around 30% possession or so. So I figured it may be worth switching to very short passing so that I can keep the ball better. Whether this is the right option or not, I don't know. Anyway, I run 433 and also want my wingers to 'get in behind' so I've turned on the 'pass into space' option in the hopes that it'll make my wingers make runs past the opposition's back line. The thing I've been wondering though is will it work with having my team setup for much shorter passing, as I'm assuming any ball played in behind would probably not count as a "short" pass and would be more kind of direct and long. So will the 'pass into space' and 'much shorter passing' options cancel each other out or are they okay to run at the same time? Thanks.
  8. Ah crap, didn't even realise there was a specific tactics forum. I'll repost it there, thanks.
