  1. I find that these are both decent advice on setting up a save...but they are both a bit different.  Yellow Card is suggesting you load the custom database players in divisions & continents, while not having view only leagues... but the FM Blog advice suggests all leagues as view only (except your own) and then having all players in the custom continental database.

  2. When setting up my initial game, I am trying to use all of the available leagues in one way or another (view only or playable).Obviously it's tough to get the right combination....for the leagues I am designating "view only" I am loading up the nation in the custom database.  My issue however as a fairly new player, is which options here should I be selecting?  I will have far too many players for processing if I select all of the options...which ones do people consider neccessary for a realistic experience?

Thank You for any advice and/or help

    Cheers!

  3. Hello...I am diving into a new FM 23 save, and while I have limited experience with FM (over 20 years) I have never really dove into a save, and therefore am likely not aware of all the game concepts.  On top of it, I am an American who is managing in the MLS, and have very limited tactical knowledge of the game to tart with.  I have never played football, nor have I really ever watched or followed it.  As a yank, I am much more familiar with our version of football as well as baseball.

So I am wondering if there are some good places for me to go to learn about game concepts, tactics etc...  Video guides are great, but I am also happy to read anything that will help me with Football Manager.  I suppose I am lucky I am somewhat familiar with the MLS rules such International slots, drafts, free agency, salary cap, etc...I am not as familiar with some of the other contracts such as Generation Adidas, Designated Contracts, Young Designated Players etc..

I do think if I am going to be successful though, I am going to need the ins & outs of tactics.  The rest I think is fairly easily learnable..but tactics are basically greek to me.  I mean, I know SOME things such as "closing down" "pressing" and so forth...I am also reasonable familiar with the rules...just not the nuts & bolts of how the game flows.

Any help is very much appreciated.  Cheers & Thank You!!

I'm guessing from what I can see is that it's this model: https://everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/specs/macbook-pro-core-i9-2.4-eight-core-16-2019-scissor-specs.html

Where is it not meeting your expectations?  You've not specified what your issues are with it.

CPU-wise, it's still very good even by current standards.  My guess is your issues may be with how it handles the 3D match engine as it's got the old Intel UHD integrated graphics, which were never that capable.

Not sure what exactly you're looking for, but what I will say is that computer should be excellent for most computing tasks, but gaming will be one area where it falls short due to the weak graphical capability.

No...my issue is with the number of leagues and detail I can run.  I prefer a larger and more realistic world, but I am finding I need to put most nations on "view only".  Is this normal?

  5. As the title suggests, I am looking to get moving on a new save.  I am going to do an MLS save, which is probably very different from what most people are used to.  I am wondering which leagues/nations are good candidates to have enabled with this league, and which ones should maybe be in full detail?

I am assuming England is a good nation to include as a playable nation...maybe Mexico or Scotland, but I am not really sure which leagues directly impact the MLS the most.

Thank You for any insight...much appreciated.

without going too off topic, I discovered OOTP and baseball much later than FM, I find OOTP incredibly difficult to get into as there's so many games in the MLB season and so many different contract and roster requirements. I've read tons of stuff but never seem to retain enough info to get into.

Good luck with FM though, MLS is a notoriously unique league to play in, in FM terms, and starting unemployed with no coaching badges etc is pretty hard core.

FWIW I wouldn't worry about huge databases for now and simply start with the main leagues loaded and play a season or two as a big top division club to familiarise yourself. 👍

I’ll see how I do!!  If you ever need any OOTP advice JCP & myself can always lend a hand.  We have years of experience with it.

  7. It might be taking me that long also.  My processor is a 2.4 Ghz 8-core intel core i9.  I wish I had waited for the new Mac processors, but when I custom built this MacBook Pro in the spring of 2020 I didn't know.  How do you think my processor will handle all of the leagues?  I am somewhat patient when it comes to swimming (as I want the greatest degree of accuracy & detail as possible) but so far, it's taking a good 5 minutes of processing per day.  I can live with that, but if it get worse or to the point where I can't deal with the times, I will have to re-think things.  The nice thing about FM is you can change the detail level on the fly.
