Yep and so did the linesman, I bet they all thought it was an obvious one but this is why you let the play carry on. Even if you get some awful looking ones, it's worth it for this kind of thing.

In that scenario they only go out if Costa Rica beat Germany because of their goal difference. Unless Germany hammer a truck load of course.

I've been critical of the performance yesterday but USA did not have "several good chances" at all. There was the McKennie chance and that's it. Yeah, Pulisic hit the bar but it wasn't exactly a big chance was it? Outside those two incidents I genuinely don't remember anything else they did apart from a few corners that if Maguire didn't nick away we might have had a problem. It was mainly offensively we were dismal last night. USA had too much control for most of the first half too but they weren't creating loads of chances during that time.

I know complaining about consistency is a bit of a cliche but seriously, you get incidents like that ignored all the time (quite rightly) but then every now and then they decided "actually, know what, that very gentle contact is a penalty this time" and it just annoys everybody.

If we'd have changed at half time and given it a go but then gone a bit more cautious with 15 minutes left if have understood, but we never looked like we wanted to win the game

Maguire was excellent. But that was not a good performance at all. I'd still play a couple of different players against Wales, Foden especially.
