  1. A total no-show for the game - apart from maybe a merchandising booth then. The worrying thing is this is the only game on that page not part of the presentation. There is also the complete radio silence from SI Games. Would it be too much to ask for them to give us an update - even if they have to announce a delay to the announcement? This is terrible marketing for the game. This was the last announced game on the Sega Atlus website. They were obviously expecting something for the show IMO.
  2. There will be something in Sega's Tokyo Games Show presentation Friday 27th. Will it just be telling us the full info will come on Monday?
  3. Not too sure if this is old news but Football Manager has been confirmed as being at the Tokyo Games Show as part of the Sega Atlus presentation tomorrow at 11am UK time. Not sure what will be revealed at this presentation. https://tgs.sega.jp/en/
  4. It is the Tokyo Games Show next week. Sega has got two unannounced games in their presentation. I wonder if Football Manager 25 will be one of those games.
  5. Thanks for that. I have only looked for it on Steam - where it doesn't exist as far as I am aware. I might try FM25 Console on PC.
  6. Make the Console version available to PC users. This is a wonderfully streamlined version of the game which I prefer to the full-fat version. I do not believe you can get it on PC (outside of a Game Pass subscription) - or, at least, I am not smart enough to find out how to get it on PC.
  7. We already have a bloat free version of Football Manager. It is called Football Manager Console version. There is barely any press interaction - there are no pre and post match conferences. I haven't found any player interaction apart from when they are moaning about playing time - and with that and the team meeting I have improved morale as the suggestions are fewer. Training is stripped back as is everything else. I wonder if they will ever release this version on PC. I think the console version is the most fun version of the game.
  8. I guess I am kind of lucky by that announcement. I can wait another few weeks for the game. I have never looked at the player's weight when deciding anything so it doesn't matter to me and I have not yet done International Management. Not bothered in the slightest by that announcement and hope they spend time making the best game ever. I take it there has been no massive over-reaction to the blog.
  9. Well my experiment showed that the Gegenpress can be an absolute disaster and not a magic win button. My feeling is that my 352 is not the right formation for the tactic. I also found in the second set of six matches I was getting a number of muscle injuries probably due to the extra intensity. The tale of the tape was Pld 12 W2 D4 L6 GF11 GA18 Pts 11. I think I'll stick with my low block fluid counter as it suits my formation and it is probably formation that decides whether a tactic works. The high press will not help a smaller side over-perform without the right tactics attached to it. BTW this was on the console version which while having the same match engine does not use tactical familiarity so that reason in not applicable
  10. There has been discussion on this thread about the Gegenpress/High Press being overpowered. That is what it has to with it.
  11. I am going to do an experiment with my AFC Wimbledon save: I currently am in the Championship. My club vision is to attempt to avoid relegation. My odds are 250-1 and I am predicted the finish 24th. My team is currently 8th with 21 points, a record of W6 D3 L3 F20 A 15. I am using the Preset Fluid Counter Attack with a 3-5-2. I am going to keep everything the same but will play with the preset Gegenpress for the next 12 and compare and report back here. For reference I beat the division leaders Norwich with that set up. Let's see how much better the Gegenpress is compared to what I have.
  12. To the surprise of absolutely no-one Liverpool has won 3-0 at Old Trafford playing the high counter-press. It is almost as if it is the meta in football.
  13. In the Midfield L/R you have the role of defensive winger - who I believe does the normal job of a winger but when the team is out of possession will close down the opponent full-back. I would like this role in the AML/R position but this does not seem to be available. The position should make for more aggressive closing down than the slightly deeper ML/R position.
  14. In real life football the teams at the top who constantly win things playing the high-press, counterpress system. So why should the game be any different. If you want a real life example I saw my team AFC Wimbledon beat Ipswich in the week. Both teams made changes from their first eleven. In the first 15 minutes we played a low block and they dominated and were 1-0 up. We then changed to a higher press, long ball tactic. We equalised in the first half, went ahead in the second and they only took it to penalties from a keeper error. Ipswich had more of the ball but the fact we pressed them high made it difficult for them to create chances. The truth is that in modern football the low block does not bring success on a consistent level and that is represented in the game. Managers like Mourinho are no longer being given the top jobs as he cannot adapt to the modern game. Name me a team that has consistently won stuff playing low/mid block.
  15. I believe I would do this: Attack with 5 defend duties. A 3-5-2: CB - Def, CB - Def, CB- Def / WB-Att, DM - Def, DM - Def, WB - Att / AP - Att / CF - Sup, CF - Sup with a Positive or Attacking Mentality. Defend with 5 Attack roles. The same really but with a Cautious Mentality. CB - Def, Li - Sup, CB - Def / WB - Att, DM - Def, SV - Att. WB - Att / AP - Su / PF - Att, PF - Att.
  16. I play the game on my PS5 so cannot use other skins but I have heard the Mustermann skin is pretty good. Couldn't they licence his skin in the game (and maybe a couple of other of the modded skins?) Would Mustermann be agreeable to that?
  17. An example of this is Antonio Conte. He is a very demonstrative manager on the touchlines. He won the title with Inter and Chelsea but his touchline shouts did nothing to improve Tottenham and make them a cohesive, consistent unit. It is almost as if the quality of squad and tactics is more important than telling a player to buck his ideas up. I know it is a common fallacy that the manager having a rant on the touchline changes things when in reality it doesn't. Changing from a 4-4-2 to a 4-5-1 had a bigger effect. Substituting a failing player does.
  18. This is where I disagree with you. I think that tactical changes make a difference but the non-tactical shouts do not. But I know you have a wealth of evidence to show where studies have shown it does so I await this.
  19. If you are a good manager then the team will know what to do in given situations. If a team takes the lead they know what they are supposed to do. If they are losing then there should be a trained response. I think we need to incorporate match plans in with the tactics screens to include these. In real life managers use shouts for two things - one is tactical which we can still address through the tactics screens. Even telling them to be more compact or push up can be done from there. The second is to berate a player or tell the team to have more energy or ask them to focus etc. That is the only thing we are losing. I would also wonder if these shouts have any effect in real life. Telling a player to sit deeper and make forwards runs may get listened to (and this can be shouted in the tactics screen) but will a team really respond to the demand more shout in real life? Will that fix tactical errors? Yes, some managers like to do this and others don't. But does it actually have any effect on the game in real life. Did Moyes "demanding more" of his West Ham team when they were playing badly actually change things? I think there needs to be a rational bit of thinking of what some of those shouts were meant to do and how effective they actually are in real life. And remember a lot of the touchline shouts would be administered from the tactics screen. You can ask the team to step up more, drop deeper, get stuck in, stay on your feet, timewaste, play for free-kicks, go direct, pass quicker or slower etc.
  20. Something I found out from a video is that three roles are hard-coded to press more for you. They are Pressing Forward, Defensive Winger and Ball Winning Midfielder. This means that even if you have counter-pressing off these roles will still press more than the other players. I always use a pressing forward and BWM in games where I am not favourite. I use PF in every game. I have counter-pressing turned off. I would love for the Defensive Winger to be an option in the AML/AMR positions to complement the Pressing Forward but that is not an option yet.
  21. I have had a look at the Wing Play preset and I do not think that the defensive/pressing set-up is the problem. You have a neutral Counter Press/Regroup, you trigger-press more often and operate a mid-block. This is the same as the Control Possession tactic. I think where the tactic does not work well is that it has a high-tempo, more direct passing style which means you will probably lose the ball more and that is where you have to press more. With control possession you have low-tempo, shorter passing and that will help you keep the ball more and lowers the needs to press. I would wager if the passing was standard then the wing-play tactic would work better. I would think you have to press more as you lose the ball more. I use the Control Possession preset and it works well for me. If I want width I use wingers or wing-backs.
  22. You are right on that. I guess what it does do it to stop the uneducated meddling on the instructions screen which can sometimes makes things worse. I speak from knowledge in frantically adjusting this or that with no benefit where just changing from balanced to positive, for example can change things for the better. It has more structure.
  23. I have found using the Preset tactic (the ones that comes with the game) that suits your team and then using formation, mentality and player duties/roles to tweak works well. You really do not need to adjust the Instructions. For my Man Utd save I use Control Possession and use the 4-2-3-1. At home I go positive with supporting DMs and away balanced with defensive DMs against the big teams. Against Bournemouth at home they played the Wing tactic and was causing me problems and getting most of the highlights until I adjusted my full backs to Def then I dominated. This is how little you need to tweak to adjust things. For my AFC Wimbledon save I got promoted to the Championship and was predicted to finish 24th. I used Fluid Counter Attack in the 4-3-3 (2 DM) system. I veer between Balanced and Cautious and in tough away matches substitute the BBM to a BWM. With 2 to games to go I am 17th and have confirmed another season in the Championship despite having the weakest squad in the division. Using the preset ones and adding the challenge not to adjust them has forced me to really think about formation and mentality.
  24. In my AFC Wimbledon save I am in my fifth season and my DOF has signed loan players every window. A couple of them I have then instructed him to sign on FT basis. In my Man Utd save I have barely, if at all, had a loan signing and I am in the third season. Maybe it has to do with the signing ability of the club money-wise and the stature of the club.
  25. In my Man Utd save currently top of the Premier League and have got 10 out of 12 in the Champions League (dropped points was away to Inter) using the preset Control Possession tactic (the one that comes with the game). In my AFC Wimbledon save, got them promoted the Championship via the playoffs , predicted to finish 24th but have confirmed safety with 2 games to go using the Fluid Counter Attack tactic. With both had to think through the right combination of roles and and duties but you can be successful not using Gegenpress.
