  1. This was exactly what I was in the middle of doing, thanks. Just booting it back into Steam Gaming mode to see if it works.
  2. I'm on the Steam Deck and when I try to upload my FM23 save game into FM24 it doesn't recognise any FM23 folders. Do I need to look in a specific place? Or is this a known bug?
  3. Scouts brought him to my attention. Bought him for £12m for Inter and, while he's only 18, you can see the quality is there whenever he plays. He's pushed Parfundi down in the pecking order and now rotates with Samardzic on the right or as a #10.
  4. Nice. I've signed 4 of the same players you have there at Juve. Almada just makes good decisions.
  5. Huge doses of nostalgia incoming. Pulling all nighters with cousins on Champ Man, surviving on crisps and pop into the early hours. Fearing AC Milan in Europe with a George Weah goal bound to happen at some point...and then just flashing red and black. Happy days, simpler times.
  6. Hey @vonTrips you might find more discourse in the Good Player forum for this topic. I've always been interested in playing without being able to see the player attributes so I think I'll give it a go with the skin you've recommended here. I do have a couple of questions for you: 1. I presume we can save these positional stats in a template for each position when searching for players? 2. Wouldn't you need to build up a history of performance for players? And so how does this work when you first load up a save? Or would you typically disable the 1st transfer window, or run the game on for a season so this data accumulates? 3. Also, this data is lost when a new season starts, correct? Is this when you'd need to make a note against potential transfer targets in a spreadsheet outside of the game? Thanks in advance, and thanks for the quality post.
  7. I've simmed the game for 1 season to take on any struggling clubs (unexpected relegations, stuff like that). And I see that Inter Milan only managed to qualify for the Europa League, so I took the reigns. My plan is to clear out the older foreign players to make way for a new era of quality Italian youth. I have a £100m transfer budget. This is interestingly also a board request, which is not the reason why Internazionale was originally formed (as the name implies it was to sign international players), but ok. Skriniar left on a free, I wasn't happy about losing him and neither were the fans who seemed to blame me, but it will let me take a look a Bamba, Scalvini or Papetti as Bastoni's long term-partner at the back. Lukaku went back to Chelsea, would've been nice to extend his loan to bridge the gap while I unearth the next Cristian Vieri, but he wasn't interested (despite loving his time with us). I have some Champions League clubs sniffing around Martinez, and if they bid somewhere in the region of £90m I'll take it and bring in Scamacca to spearhead my attack, as Raspadori isn't interested. So onto transfers, and the previous manager arranged for both Gosens and Kristjan Asllani to come to the club and I can already see that Asllani will be a permanent fixture in my midfield, he's absolute quality. Gosens for £23m was a waste as far as I'm concerned, but we'll see how he does over the course of a season sharing the role of WB with Dimarco. I've brought in: Miretti for £18m from Juve, which seems a little low given his potential. Belotti for free from Roma, a solid squad player. Valeri for free from Cremonese, the board loved this transfer. Parfundi for £5.75m from Udinese and this kid looks like the next Baggio. Terracciano for £5m from Verona as a long term option at right-back. Samardzic for £12m as an AMC, I didn't see any similarly quality young creative Italians, so he'll be one of my #10s alongside Hakancoglu. The previous manager shipped out: Pinamonti for £17m, which is a shame as I'd have liked to have kept him. And I've begun clearing out the deadwood with Cordaz, Lazaro & Agoume leaving the club and Mkhtaryan going on loan to Leeds who will pay 80% of his rather large wages, and then he'll leave on a free. My aim is to qualify for the Champions League with a team predominantly made up of U21 players, and build from there. My main tactic is a 4-2-1-2-1 with wingbacks providing the width.
  8. Just set my scouts on him. 18 and from these Isles, that'll do for me.
  9. Just started my final 2023 save (which I plan to take with me into 24), and I've let the game run for a season to give Klopp his final run at the title. He only managed to finish 4th so the board thanked him for his years of excellent service and turned to me to bring about a new era for the club. I've set myself a target of only buying English where a quality player exists in the position needed. So far I've brought in: Alex Scott for £12m Ward-Prowse for £25m Declan Rice for £75m Skriniar for free I'm about to sell Keita for £61m to Chelsea and I will.also accept bids for Thiago and Fabinho if they come in. So I'm left with a core of English players: Trent, Milner, Hendo, Gomez, Elliot, Jones, Rice, Scott, Ward-Prowse and the Ox (who I renewed due to my English-only policy). I will bring through Doak (to replace Salah when he retires), Ramsey and Bajectic from the U23s - 2 of those kids aren't English but I'm not being that strict with academy players. I'm only in pre-season so far but Elliot in particular is impressing in an AMC role with a more creative license. And I expect Ward-Prowse's set piece expertise to add extra goals during the season. As soon as I identify a quality English striker I'll be replacing Nunez.
  10. I holidayed for the first season until June 10th 2023 and then took over as manager of Liverpool. The summer window has not opened and I'm currently in late July. No club has spent money outside of the pre-configured transfers (Kulisevski to Spurs for £30m for example). I can provide a save file tomorrow morning, but this looks like a bug. My budget is £0 and when I bid for a player I'm told that no transfers are allowed during this window.
  11. Yeah, adding logos & graphics is essentially the same process as a PC, just in a different location on the linux directory. I've had zero crashes running FM23 so they've resolved something as FM 21/22 crashed frequently. Just to clarify a comment near the start of this thread: This isn't a 'Steam Deck edition', it's the full PC version.
  12. I recently bought the in-game editor so I'm....errr....yeah I'm really tempted to erase our early season injuries and bring in Gakpo. But then we'll have a lot of options for the front 4 positions (playing a 4-2-3-1). I like the recommendations of Elliot as an AMC so will be trying that, maybe rotating him and Carvalho.
  13. He's off to Juventus for £30m in Jan 2024, so I've got him for a few months, bit of a 'Thanks for the teeth 'n flicks, and adeus Bobby'! That PSG offer you have is incredible.
  14. I've literally just heard that name mentioned on the recent Football Manager podcast, thanks for the suggestions. I'd prefer a English CB, but I'll check them out. Does anyone have experience with Ronnie Edwards, 20 year old at Peterborough?
  15. Still in July here, post & pre-seasons can be slow affairs when there's a rebuild to be done. So far I've sold: Fabinho - £93m to Real Madrid Konate - £32m (Monaco came in with a non-negotiable bid and he threw his toys about if I wasn't going to accept, so I did...and then smashed them 4-0 in Hendo's testimonial) Tsimikas - £35m to PSG And I've bought: Caicedo - £42m from a relegated Brighton, Rice proved too pRicey (sorry) in the end as West Ham wanted £150m+ add-ons. Yaser Asprilla - £13m (can play AML/R/C and is 19, tonnes of potential...and there's the Faustino connection from those heady Newcastle days "Collymore CLOSING INNNNN!") Moukoko - £48m I still have £30m left to recruit a good young centre back (what on EARTH has happened to Andrea Papetti!?!), so any suggestions are very welcome.
  16. I almost confirmed Caicedo for around £40m in the 2nd summer window, but cancelled it in favour of Bellingham. I ended up accepting the £93m Madrid offer for Fabinho and so maybe instead of Rice I go back in for him (if the price is still that low). FWIW on my save his analytical stats we're 1st, 1st, 1st, 2nd for things like tackling, interceptions etc... incredible really in a relegated Brighton team.
  17. I had both of those players come back to me in scouting reports, and Cho interested me the most, mainly because he's a new name. I may go back in for him actually, there was nothing really that put me off. As for Joao Pedro, Watford didn't come back up, and so he might have a clause or just be unhappy - perhaps I should take another look and compare them both side by side. Cheers for the recommendations!
  18. Try letting your DoF renegotiate his new contract, he accepted £68k a week on my save, which means he's welcomed into training everyday with a hug. His versatility, fitness, experience and the example he sets the kids are worth that I think. I'll be sending him to do his badges at some point. Future Assistant Manager.
  19. I've ran the game on for 1 season before taking over from Klopp and they gave me a budget of £147m (zero signings were made before I took over). I've just had PSG offer me £74m for Alisson when they already have Donnarumma, Kaylor Navas & Sergio Rico...with no obvious intent to sell any of those guys on. Random. <- this bid was rejected of course. Madrid are now offering me £93m for Fabinho, which I'm very tempted to take and then bring in the younger (and English) Rice as his direct replacement as DMC for similar money. I've also bought Bellingham in for £94m as he wasn't happy with Dortmund not making the CL. I plan to gradually form a new midfield trio of Rice, Bellingham & Trent whilst slowly phasing out Keita, Thiago & Henderson over the course of this season. I only have Jota, Salah & Nunez as options up front in a 4-1-2-2-1 (effectively a 4-3-3 with a DM and 2 IFs) so I'll need to spend the remaining £32m on a 3rd choice striker. I'm giving both Bradley and Ramsey a chance at right-back, knowing that I can bring in Milner if they can't perform on the league.
  20. Yes it's possible to add custom graphics (I have, just google it and I think its an FM scout site that carries the instructions), a bit fiddly due to the nature of Linux's file system and the fact you're not using a mouse by default. I can run 12 nations with a large database, with all default leagues selected, and it gives me a 2 star rating. I actually prefer it to run a bit slower because it allows me to read the various updates it gives you on the game world (contract renewals, transfer business, job insecurities etc..) as the days tick by.
  21. I used Warpinator, install it on both machines and it's very easy to use.
  22. In addition to what I say above, and with experience of working with devs on a daily basis (as many of us on here also might), I know just how complicated it can be to either change or add features to an application. I don't know if they start working on the next version of FM the day after the previous one goes 'live' (they may start development some time before that), but 1 year is not that much time to research -> document -> implement -> test -> re-work/bug fix -> test -> release massive new features or significant changes to the match engine really in IT, the time does seem to fly by, even if you are extremely agile and work in smaller, more flexible, development teams. And often throwing more devs at the problem doesn't always solve it quicker.
  23. I think it might make more sense for SI to release it either in Early Access - so it's more obvious to expect bugs and issues. Or to delay the release until December, or January even, because that tends to be the time where the game is in a more stable state. I will be buying FM 23, but maybe not immediately for the reasons mentioned above. <Cue SI revealing some brand new feature I suddenly believe I can't go on without>
  24. So with the budget I had I brought in: Bastoni for £70m (rising to £78m) on £350k a week for 5 years. Pedri for £85m (rising to £102m) on £350k a week for 5 years. Adam Hlozek for £6.5m (rising to £7.5m) on £65k for 4 years. I sold: Adrian for £1.2m Grujic for £7.75m Minamino for £20m Keita for £42m Rhys Williams for £2m Ben Davies for £4m Origi for £16.5m Having missed out on both Mbappe and Haaland I decided to stick with Jota & Firmino for this season, with Hlozek as back-up, learning from those pair. He will eventually become my 1st team striker as he looks to have a lot of potential (wonderkid) and good base stats. I'm currently joint top with City after 6 games, with both of us drawing our game 4-4 at the Etihad. Salah has 9 goals and 5 assists in the league (12 in all comps - which amounts to 7 appearances) and is unbelievable in most matches. Trent's made the most key passes in the league so far (27) and Pedri has settled into the AMC-support role nicely, providing 4 goals and 2 assists so far. I think I'll let him roam from his position in our home matches though, so he avoids the DMC sat between the lines. Bastoni, meanwhile, has been a rock alongside Virgil. He bonded with the squad almost instantly with his personality making him a good fit for the dressing room. At 23 I see him and Konate/Gomez as the future of my defence after Virgil decides to hang up his boots. A highlight of the season so far is a 6-1 battering of PSG at home where we went 3-0 up after 10 mins and we restricted them to 5 shots (2 on target) all game.
