This has been the general consensus over the years, with the game getting easier & easier. Look at the threads of 10 years or more & they were full of threads of the game is too hard & unable to win. When in reality it meant it was the correct difficulty. Contrast with today, & threads about too hard game are extremely rare, & every career thread is about how you conquered the world with some tiny club. Game lacks any long term appeal, which is a shame as this used to be my most popular game by far. Only have good game by putting your own restrictions & rules in place.

Have you decided yet which region you are going down the furthest with, & at what level, as it is hard to see which leagues go down to the furthest level now.

Iv heard that before, and tried it within six months I was 6 in the table because I couldn’t find the fight players reverted back to a custom database after 3 season I won five cups and got my first international job. I need a custom database.
That just shows that the smaller database is more realistic. In real life you don't just pick top players of a conveyor belt.

I expect it is due to his contract ending in the summer. The clubs are just trying their luck. By the way who are Tytherington Rocks & what level do they play at?

I have used 3d since it was introduced, as it is the next level. Using 2d is like watching football in black & white or listening to it on the radio.

I will be doing a youth challenge with my youth intakes when they join on season 1 until then i have to sign atleast some players for season 1
Why? You can set it so all clubs have available players in them. Should get around 30 players, with over half 16-17 years old. Then get rid of the older ones if you only want youths.

Could not agree more. I've been doing a youth challenge with Keymer and Hassocks, basically only using regens and not signing anyone else. Stumbled quite a bit when I hit the Mid-Sussex Championship. Struggled mid table for a few years while waiting for my youth to catch up, got relegated and then back up after two years in League 1. With improved youth and training setups I've been able to have a deeper team this go around and am fighting for promotion again. Been a very challenging but fun go. I might post screenshots one day if I quit being lazy about it.
And as an aside, this database is the reason I still buy FM, great job Dan.
Sounds like a good game you are having.
Did you find you kept getting unrealistic job offers. In first season around new year when I just topped the league & since then have been getting a deluge of media reports putting me favourite for managerial vacancies. I sent message early on that I wasn't going to answer press speculation & no offers made directly. What is weird is I am favourite for every vacancy from level 6 to 10, but hardly anything below this. In leagues such as Mid Sussex (levels 12 -22) I'm am never in the frame. Hardly realistic.

If you take a job elsewhere, whether that be at Everton or West Everton Xaviers, does the game become harder again? I don't want this to sound like a complaint because this database has given me many hours of happiness but it's rather easy, isn't it?
Depends how hard you make it. Play a game using the players you inherit, & if found by a scout only sign ones in the locality. Have not signed a player all season. Mainly due to not being able to gain a scout all season, despite advertising all season. Also play blocking out all the attributes, & evaluate the players abilities by your coaches, & how they perform. Makes a great game. Currently in first season with four games left, topping the table, but all matches have been tight, & could have easily been at the bottom end if luck had gone against me. Never could understand why anyone wants to play right down in the lower leagues, & just breeze through each division with no opposition. Would be so boring.
I am not suggesting people have to play like this, but you can make the game interesting & challenging, even at these levels, if you want to.

I play this one, which is very good. EEE just seems to be detailed for the sake of it. I like something that is easy to get into, does what its supposed to, & most importantly have support from the creator throughout, not disappear for months on end.

Well, I am playing with it without any issues, & having a great time.

Quite a few leagues missing.....
That is because Dan wanted a playable database down to level 23, without having the whole English league system in it, as well as grinding to a halt. I think he has the full league system down & including level 10, then selected leagues, with the vast majority in Sussex.

Just fired up the editor and fortunately the new patch hasn't affected the database!
I have just run your latest database a couple of months in game & clubs now seem to be appointing managers for most of the teams in the database, as SI mentioned in their notes. This includes all clubs in the mid Sussex divisions. Definitely an improvement on what went before.

Hopefully some interesting news soon about this database, am working on something that'll make this game a little bit different to other files....
But hopefully when the next patch comes out it will sort out the manager problem and also ticket pricing problem
Look forward to reading about it Dan. Like most I am aware that you & others are waiting for the final major patch & data release by SI, which as you say hopefully fixes certain problems.

Can anyone tell me why everytime i click the link to download it goes straight to a separate page with the "MEGA"? symbol and does give me the option to download the link. Anything to do with the fact I'm using a Mac?
No, a similar thing happens to me, & I am using a PC with Windows. I had no problems with earlier versions, as they were with another provider. Haven't mentioned anything so far, as am not playing career game, but when I do it will probably be with this database, when final patch released.

Hi Dan,
Thanks for your great work.
Been playing CM 97/98 and this edition I decided to start from lowest level.
Found your database is perfect!
But since I am newbie on this league level, I have some questions :
1) What actually the difference between database level 23 FA cup and not ?
2) At lowest level we can only play with Keymer and Hassocks?
3) All the player is grey in the level 23? and is it possible to change from amateur team to semi pro / pro when I climb up the pyramid?
really appreciate for the answer.
Sorry for my bad english and silly question!
Great job, Dan!
I will try and answer your questions.
1) The FA Cup is in all the databases. I think the only difference between the two level 23 ones are one is a more updated version. The other databases only allow you to go down to level 10 & 11 respectively.
2) The reason you can only play Keymer & Hassocks at level 23 is the rest are reserve sides which you cannot play in the game.
3) The reason they are all grey is because no one researches players for the very low levels. To get players you need to select to have all playable teams to have players before you start a new game. There is a tick box to do this. Also the same for staff, though doesn't ensure managers are filled at clubs.
4) You should be given the option to turn semi pro when going up the leagues, though am not sure when.
Hope this helps.

I created a club at level 23 and after the first season I no longer have any league games. I only get the Tester cup games. Any ideas?
Where is the club based? Is it in the Sussex boundary area, as that may make a difference if it is outside the perimeter of that league. Just a thought.

The Isle of Wight League feeds the Hampshire League so I put it underneath it. There is no promotion, I don't want there to be non-Island teams in the leagues
That explains it. Thanks.

Dan - I was looking around & the only Isle of Wight leagues I can find are the Saturday divisions 1-3, at levels 15-17. Are the two you put in called something else, as I cannot seem to find them. Do these leagues get promoted into others or do they remain as only playable on the island.

I'm at work so can't check for myself, is anybody able to tell me if the Northants Combination leagues are included? Finally got a chance of having my actual self in the game! (added through the editor obviously) haha
I hope you have given yourself realistic attributes.

I will be honest & don't think County Cups are any real loss to the game. They don't mean that much in real life, with league sides usually playing reserve or youth players. Not easy to put in a database.

Thanks for helping me out with that. I wasn't sure if my initial report would work. So stoked for this news!
That's alright. I only saw it by accident, & thought it was being dealt with in the other bug thread. Seems not, but Stu seemed to recognise the issue straight away. Motto is get it to the right person.

Some good news on the lack of managers appearing in lower leagues.

Fantastic! Thank you!
When we start the game, I suppose it's better to choose in the options : 'add new players and staff to the new teams' ?
It is when playing in low leagues as they wont have any. Unfortunately, managers are not due to an issue with game, unless Dan has added sufficient ones to the database.

Dan said he was creating the league cups tomorrow, & then hoped to release it after that.

The game is to simple as it is. This a no brainer to at least make it a bit of a challenge.
