    Hi,

Specifically relating to Football Manager Mobile 2020, thanks loads for including the Cymru North and South on the mobile version, I appreciate the depth of research that must go into assembling the data on minor leagues.

One thing that is frustrating with regard to the Mobile version (Not sure if it is the same on the full game) is the 22nd of July season start date. On every other FMM game going back to the start of the Welsh League being included it has been a early July (1st to 7th) start, the Scottish, Northern Irish and English leagues all that run along a similar schedule season wise all start on the 1st of July (Even the Northern Irish lowest league). I am referring to just doing a Welsh League game, not combining leagues when you do have different staggered start dates if you run two different leagues (ie Irish and Scottish have different season timings)

What it does is mean on the 22nd July when you start you literally have days before your 1st game and not much longer before your 1st competitive game and so much of the game starting out is sorting your squad out with sales, loans, releasing, buying etc... you also have nearly half of the transfer window gone and you would of played a couple of friendlies which you have no control over before the game starts, I have even started a game as Gap Connahs Quay and they have played Euro fixtures before you even get a chance to have any influence.

It would be great if you where able to come back on this as it does not seem to make any sense to me?

    Cheers.

(I have also posted this on the main board as I did not know if it was a game issue not research issue)

    Hi Guys,

Same issue with FM2021 by the time the game starts your team have already played competitive fixtures on the 1st day of the season start so you can already be knocked out of a cup before even start! This is on Football Manager Mobile.

  2. Hi,

Just thought I would start a thread to see if anyone is playing the Welsh League (Welsh Prem, Cymru North/South). I love playing these leagues and was over the moon when S.I included Cymru North and South for the first time!

    Just wondered if anyone:

    -Has done well in Europe?

-Can recommend any clubs to play as?

-And most importantly any gems to sign from the Welsh Leagues?

    Apologies for the late reply.

Currently on FM the start date for Wales is 22/7, the same as FMM. However you are able to set the start date to the first matches of the Euro Cup or Champions Cup which is something that is not available on Mobile. We are working towards a fix to move the start date and it will be in a future update

Thank you for coming back to me, Cheers, Sam

Unfortunately as we take start dates from the main FM game, it's a bit more complicated than a quick fix. I can appreciate your frustration but it is something we are looking into.

Does it actually start on the 22nd of July on the main game as well? In past seasons it has always been around the 1st July as well for the main game. (I have not played this years main game)

Playing with STM Sports, it's 2024 in game, and it's my 3rd season with them - first season I won the Cymru South (they were in Europe!), second I finished 2nd to TNS, and am just starting season 3, in the final qualifying round of the Conference League vs Celtic.

Jahmal Hector Ingram is an an absolute monster for me - scored over a goal a game in the Cymru Premier!

Sounds like a good career, I always find the performance of all my players drop the more the team achieve ie.. I start to sign better and better players and regens of top players but the team never score as many goals as they do in the first few seasons when the players where worse on paper.

Well I've chosen my team and am underway! I went for Pontypridd, major overhaul required but 42 year old striker Hayhurst keeps his place. A lot of very old players in Wales isn't there?! I had a 38 year old striker too. Pre-season I didn't score a single goal but 4 games into the season and I'm on 10 points so can't really complain. Opened French, English and Scottish leagues too, can get a lot of decent French based players for free and not massive wages either.

How are you getting on with Pontypridd? Still playing?

Just a bit of news on Europe.

Shamrock Rovers. It's not ideal. I would have preferred a team from Andorra or Liechtenstein maybe. It's going to be a challenge to win this.

One other less than ideal piece of news is that Salford Cirty put in a bid for Lucas Defise, and they offered a paltry £1.9k for him. I said, bugger off unless you give me £5k plus potential extras. They withdrew their offer and it made Lucas unhappy, but talisman Serafino had a word and Lucas is happy to stay.

Until another of the interested clubs make a bid...

...and I'm still embargoed. This is far from ideal.

I have a European tie on 8th July, my squad don't return from their break until 5th July (and I seem to have no way to change that) and my chairman is a muppet...

    ...shall I just resign now?

EDIT: My squad returned out of the blue. At least I can get them fit. I just can't buy anyone.

Out of interest how are a couple of players doing in your game that start of in the Welsh League?

    -Noah Daley-17-Afan Lido

    -Sameron Dool 20-Connahs Quay

    -Evan Press-19-Barry Town

Made any other good domestic signings? Noah Daley is good as is Sameron Dool

  9. Out of interest, I play Football Manager Mobile 2020 and the start date is the 22nd of July in the first season, (its always been the 1st July before, going back to 2014) this gives very little time to prepare the squad and if you select a club in Europe like Barry, TNS, Connahs Quay they have already played up to 6 games which you have no involvement, is the start date of the Welsh Leagues the 22nd July as well on the full version?

Its frustrating that this has not been fixed when it is a simple date change.

-Every other previous version of Football Manager handheld/mobile starts the Welsh League on the 1st of July this one starts on the 22nd July.

    The problem is-

-No where near enough time to buy players, sell players, sort your club out before your 1st competitive matches

-Its silly that it starts on the 22nd when the Northern Irish leagues, Scottish and all English leagues start on the 1st of July

-Lastly and most importantly when you start as one of the 4 European playing welsh clubs you already have upto 4 matches played before you even start the game so you can be knocked out of the champions league/Europa League before you even take control of the team, its not great.

Angelos, please find screenshots starting date of Welsh League from 2014-2020, to show how out of the ordinary the current start date on FM2020 is let alone the impact above in the quote above.

  11. I only play mobile, I don't have time to play the full version, mobile is also a little more easy to dip in and out of. I like the smaller leagues as well. I prefer Wales to Northern Ireland only as I know the teams and players a bit more, I don't live in Wales but not far away in Gloucestershire. Whats interesting about the smaller leagues is the niche players you find like a 15 year old East Timorese player at Dungannon (Marito Marcal) or loads of young Nigerians playing in Ireland.

I'm 2nd season in, if you need any player tips for the Welsh League (Only running three Welsh divisions then just let me know)

Likewise if you come across any good finds?
