  1. Brad Smith has done an ACL so could not be selected, but I doubt he would have been seriously considered even if he was fit. I think Arnold's first choice LBs are Behich and King. Many are wondering why King is selected ahead of Alex Gersbach or Callum Elder. Elder seems to be out injured as he has not played since coming off at half time with hamstring problems in a match over a month ago.
  2. I expected him to be selected, but I can understand why he has not. Graham Arnold may have an unhappy daughter because of the non-selection.
  3. No, not injured. Rogic abandoned the team for the final qualifiers against UAE and Peru without giving a reason. He then was without a club all preseason after leaving Celtic. He has hardly played for West Brom since joining them so has no fitness or form so I do not find his non-selection much of a surprise Langerak is a mystery to me, he is clearly a better keeper than Redmayne and Vuckovic and some fans even think he should be playing ahead of Ryan given Ryan's recent lack of game time. Langerak has been outstanding in the J-league. Sainsbury has not been performing well for the Socceroos recently and is only playing in the Qatar league. However with Kye Rowles and Harry Souttar both just returning from serious injuries it would not surprise if one of the two is unable to take their spot in the squad and Sainsbury replaces them.
  4. Interestingly Roma youngster Christian Volpato was initially selected in the squad but declined the opportunity to go to the World Cup. It seems he wants to play for Italy and not Australia despite being born and growing up in Australia.
  5. Australia squad GK: Ryan, Redmayne, Vuckovic RB: Atkinson, Karacic LB: Behich, King CB: Souttar, Rowles, Degenek, Deng, Wright CM/DM: Keanu Baccus, Devlin, Irvine, Mooy, Hrustic, McGree LW: Goodwin, Mabil RW: Leckie, Boyle, Garang Kuol ST: Duke, MacLaren, Cummings Big omissions, Langerak, Rogic and Sainsbury.
  6. I will probably watch the Australian games and be annoyed at how bad we are. There is no real excitement given the lack of quality in the side and we also have a very poor coach in Graham Arnold. The most attractive thing will be seeing how young talent Garang Kuol goes if he gets minutes
  7. I don't know why he has not been picked if the reports are true but he is not injured as far as I know. He did retire from international football because of the pandemic, but Arnold asked him to come out of retirement which he did.
  8. Australian squad to be named in a few hours. Reports are number 2 goalkeeper Mitch Langerak has been left out of the squad for what must be a reason other than pure sporting reasons.
  9. Japan have previously had Mike Havenaar play for them.
  10. Gizzy what have you been drinking? I say this as an Aussie, there is absolutely no chance Australia get out of the group stage, we have no attack so will not be able to score any goals and the defense is lacking quality while the midfield is nowhere near good enough. The only player we have who plays in a top 5 league, Adjin Hrustic, is going to miss the world cup through injury. Aaron Mooy is probably our best player and he only plays for Celtic. And I almost forgot to say our coach Graham Arnold is a terrible coach who will not only not pick the best side, but will also fail to get the best out of the team he does select.
