    So I've been interested in this thread and been playing around in the background and come up with this based on the video's provided and your ideas: Interestingly, the Enganche role is the one that seems to work best for the lateral movements - ala Ganso. A player with high Off the Ball and Movement would be great. I feel this is pretty close, certainly within the Match Engine limitations and the lack of lateral movements within roles. Give it a try and let me know your thoughts.

    Try the "DeBruyne Role" as BBM/Support with Get Further Forward / Stay Wider / Run Wide With Ball / Cross More Often selected in Player Instructions. Have IW/Support instead of WM/Support. You can always select Stay Wider / Cut Inside as the Player Instructions to recreate the "Mahrez Role".

    How about moving the AM's to CM strata? It seems easier to get CM's to move forward and wider than it does AM's...

    Using a DLP/d in the middle DM slot works best. Preferably, don't have Play Out of Defence selected. Distribute to DLP using Short Kicks or Roll it Out.

    You mention players being pulled out of position. Your Midfield is a Playmakers and Ball Winning Midfielder - who will chase around looking to close down. Does the DLP give enough defensive/positional coverage for this?

    Do NOT use Play Out of Defence as this encourages wide players to pin the touchline. Assign GK to Distribute to CB's with Short Kicks or Roll it Out if you don't want him kicking it long. Do NOT use Overlaps Play VERY NARROW

    I always found a front trio of AF, DLF(s) with SS behind them made for a stunning attack.

    Regularly used to play Neuer up fron in FM15 & 16. Always banged them in,,,, maybe it is genius...

    Didn't see the game, but understand Tite utilised Inverted Wing Backs for Brazil? Has anyone analysed this/tried to recreate?

    This will make the DM/DLP sit on the edge of the box with the Centre Backs either side of the box. This would work if it's what you want but I prefer having the Centre Backs higher up and the DM/DLP the deepest man when doing this. Have a play around with both "Play Out Of Defence" selected and unselected and see which you prefer.

    This, make sure "Play Out From the Back" isn't selected. Ask GK to Distribute to DLP in the DM strata and he will sit nicely in/behind the Central Defenders.

    Would it not force the wide men that bit wider if you used them in the WM position as Winger/Attack or Inverted WInger/Attack... and change the Mezzala to Central Midfielder/Support with Get Further Forward/Wider/Roam (if selectable)? I'm not on FM23 but that kind of thing always worked for me on 21 & 22.

    Same as in FM22. I had Haaland and either Sesko or Mbappe up front for Man City (Haaland as AF and the other as DLF) with De Bruyne as left sided WM and taking corners... for 6 consecutive seasons Haaland scored over 100 goals and De Bruyne hit 35-40 assists... Think I've accidently delete the save, if not I'll post some pics.

    Whats Atheletic Bilbaos setup nowadays? Main, B, C and Baskonia? Is there any more there?
