  1. I believe this will be improved in FM24 from what i read as AI managers/teams will be smarter when it comes to tactics and transfers. They will also play their best young talents instead of letting them rot on the bench and reserves. Correct me if im wrong tho
  2. Cyprus should be the next in line, followed by Ecuador and maybe Paraguay. The Saudi league is a retirement home, no disrespect. Not to mention the human rights violations.
  3. The most important country that was still unplayable will now be playable, lovely! Well done to Miles and the whole SI team . Still hoping to see Cyprus as playable too in the future, aswell as Ecuador and maybe Paraguay
  4. The title says it all. I don't think you can demand a goalkeeper to cross the field and seek a goal yet on FM as far as i know. It happened today in real life where Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel scored the equalizer in the 95th minute against Atlético Madrid in the Champions League. However i've seen matches where goalkeepers are already doing that in the last 10 minutes (extremely rare, but i did see it happen) of regular time, so with the instruction there maybe should be a time frame we can select when giving the goalkeeper the instruction like -seek goal 'only during added time', 'the last 5 minutes and added time' and 'the last 10 minutes and added time'-. Thank you
  5. Are player attribute ratings solely based on only their last season; in this case the 2022-2023 season, or are attributes re-evaluated and locked a few weeks before the release of the new FM version, in this case FM 24? For example; the new season started and a particular player is doing extremely well (better than last season) or a new talent arises in senior football and he's playing well and even starting matches, does that player's ratings get an increase compared to last season for the new FM, or does he keep having the same ratings given to him based on last season (end of season re-evaluation) and the first months of the new season are ignored? This is curious to me as FM is always released in November and most European leagues have started the new season several months ago, some even in July.
  6. There are FM players who attend press conferences and keep doing so, and others who dont. So what? Each their own. At least the option is there just like in real life. If you dont criticise a player's low effort in training he could perform worse in matches consistantly (if he keeps doing low effort in training several weeks) aswell as lose determination. "Transfer interview"? Asking a player's agent for information about a player has indeed turned into something important in modern football, including in FM which when adressed correctly they can lower the salary demands of the player you are interested in - so yes, you actually should keep talking to player agents throughout your save unless the only real thing you want to do is play matches and not care about anything else, which would be weird as this is a MANAGEMENT game - but each their own. The majority of club management activities in FM are also dialog based, just like in real life. I repeat myself; dialog is not bad! Organizing set pieces is equally important in international management than it is in club management. There is no reason for it not to be in international management just like training and everything i mentioned. New positions and player traits are indeed not natural in just two weeks, its a process but it does happen in real life including where both the national team and club coach agree on adapting and training the new position/role. Simeone totally agreed with Martinez about converting Yannick Carrasco to an offensive wingback as this suited his playstyle at Atlético Madrid as both Simeone and Martinez played with 3 CB's and wingbacks instead of regular backs that are more defensive and are lower on the field. Real life proves you wrong - again. Club teams mostly benefit from their players learning new positions/roles, they can agree with it (the suggestion from the national team coach) and allow the player to continue developing in said new position even when back at their club outside of international management breaks. Saying its not their (national team coaches) job to improve their players is absurd and actually an insult to all national team coaches out there. They dont just receive the players they selected from their clubs, they also improve them where they see necessary as they (nat. team coaches) have their own vision, judgement and playstyle because they are also MANAGERS and are not inferior to club managers. All of them have managed clubs before being a national team coach, they know what to do. Just look at everything that Luis Enrique did in training and individually for each player as a coach for Spain! There are conversations that are unique to international management, like convincing a player to play for the nation you manage, talk to club coaches of selected players, talk to U21 and U19 national team squad managers to inform about certain players or tell them about your decision to select a talented 17 yo RB because your nation currently lacks better options on that position and your two regular RB's are injured and/or suspended or not playing at their club. Even big football nations sometimes have better alternatives in their U21 squad for certain positions when there is an injury crisis or the regular players are out of form and arent even playing at their club, you name it. How many countries didnt give 16 year olds their debut in the senior squad? Lukaku, Ödegaard (wasnt he even 15?) , Gavi, Yamal.. You really think the senior coach of that nation didnt discuss the selection of said players with the U19 & U21 managers of said nation?? Because they would have been called up for those squads if it werent for certain situations (excepcional talent, binding a player for said nation, injury crisis or suspension, better form that available senior players, etc.). Communication/dialog is crucial in football, both club and international management! If you think its that simple in real life to convince a player to play for a country, you are totally out of touch. Details matter and many things can happen. Play time is important but even that is not an assurance. For example look at when Kosovo was recognized, they selected players who had already played for other nations (senior squad) like Berisha for Norway to name an example. And just now this month Arbnor Muja from Antwerp (Belgium) made his debut for ALBANIA after being CONVINCED BY THEIR MANAGER after being upset at the manager of KOSOVO for not calling him up despite a decent season in Belgium for Antwerp that qualified for the Champions League group stage. Another example is Munir El Haddadi, who made his debut for Spain but wasnt called up again for several years. After being approached by Morocco he switched and opted to play for Morocco as he was still able to by the rules. This is the kind of depth and options we need in FM. International management is full of twists and turns. Not to mention the naturalized players many nations have (for example Laporte and Le Normand, both french, who were convinced to play for Spain and are doing so). From my understanding FM tries to be a realistic football management game based on real life, and that is exactly what i strive for aswell. Thats why everything i requested and suggested is based on real life and why i also wrote examples where necessary. What did you do, where is your input? You only seem to criticise but you do absolutely nothing to improve international management in FM despite acting like a smart a§§ who knows everything better. Where are your feature suggestions? What are you actually doing!?
  7. Being able to set up training aswell as individual training/training to play on a new position is dialog based? That is such a basic feature missing in international management that can easily be implemented. There is only so much you can do as a national team coach. Ofcourse it is more dialog based as national team managers have less time with players personally, why is that a problem? All the things i mentioned happen in real life and are not in FM. Isnt FM supposed to be the most realistic football management game? The biggest part of club management is also dialog based as you talk to your players to keep dynamics in peace, criticise and compliment their efforts in training, solve issues players have and come chatting to you about, press conferences, requesting things to the board, talking to player agents,.. isnt that also dialog? In the end both in club and national team football there is only so much you can do. The new set piece features coming to FM24 can perfectly be added to international management aswell, or do you think national team coaches dont train set pieces? Quick summary: Add training schedules to international management for the time the players are available during international breaks aswell as individual training and the ability to teach players new positions when needed just as you can do in club management. Implementing the new tactics and set piece features coming in FM24 is also a must. Those have nothing to do with dialog, but dialog is equally important in international management. There is nothing wrong with dialog, what do you think football managers do in real life? Comparing my suggested features with people who's feature is to spend the salary of their manager in FM is widely off the mark. I don't support that, FM is not The Sims. My suggested features would improve international management and make it more deep and diverse aswell as intense. Imagine a wonderkid debuting at his club and doing extremely well in just a few months time, with no international caps but several nationalities. Compare it with Lamine Yamal who is from Moroccan origin but who was convinced by Spain and made his debut for them this month. We need these intense real life situations in FM like trying to convince a talented player with several nationalities to play for the country we manage, and sure this is dialog but it is challenging - thus fun, aswell as something totally different than what you can do in club management.
  8. Btw you said it yourself; my suggested features should already have been in the game, but they arent. Can't you understand that this frustrates people who do enjoy national team saves? This is why we are disappointed. It probably doesnt even take that much work to implement them yet year after year we see no changes or barely.
  9. When was the last time international management had new features/improvememts/updates in FM? Its been years as far as i know. With revamp i dont mean a total overhaul and starting from scratch. Just adding the features that we are missing and making it more similar to modern international management in real life. Football doesnt stand still, everything changes quickly and international management in FM has not been updated in a while. I got it - you dont like doing such a save, then dont. Nobody forces you to start a national team save. If you dont even care about it, then why are you making such a fuss about it, what is the problem? You seem obsessed. Respect the people who do enjoy international management saves and who accept all the differences compared to club football. FM has millions of players, not just you 👍🏻
  10. People just want international management to be like in real life. Ofcourse you cant buy players and the typical things in club management, but thats fine. Each national team manager does have their own vision and does train the players he selected in his own way, including individually like my example of what Roberto Martinez did with Yannick Carrasco, teaching him to play as a wingback instead of the offensive winger that he naturally was, and it was a success. This also helps the clubs when their players are being teached on how to play on other positions. Ofcourse national team matches are limited in a year's time, and there can be a lot of time between them like the period after November until March when there are matches again - in Europe, because this also differs by continents. African nations have the Africa Cup in January to name an example. The simming between matches is not such a big deal if you have a decent computer, and tbh for international management you dont need to set all leagues as playable, only the ones where there are a lot of players of said nation that you are managing (+ loading all players of said nation in the advanced set up database). Its only logical that international management will always be the most stripped down, but that doesnt mean it cant be fun! The saves also go quicker, new regens come along, you try to make history, etc.. International management in FM just lacks too much features, including basic features that can easily be implemented and copied that are already in club management.
  11. Exactly this. Take a look at my feature requests if you want; https://community.sigames.com/forums/topic/574700-feature-requests-international-management-features/
  12. I wrote a whole list of feature requests for international management (as you can see if you scroll above where i shared my post). Its fun to do a separate save where you manage a national team, whether it is your own country or a challenge you make for yourself like qualifying Montenegro for a Euros to name an example. Like i wrote above; the reason not many FM players start a national team save is because it lacks many features, including basic ones. This game is also called football MANAGER and international football is a big part of the sport, as simple as that. Maybe you dont like such a save, fair enough, but respect the people who do, and trust me there are many. Just look in the comments on social media and Youtube under the official FM channels and streamers when FM 2023 features were announced. You'll see that the top 2 complaints were the lack of set piece and international management improvements, so yes there are many players who want to see improvement in international management on FM.
  13. Personally i dont like assumptions, and i feel like SI is going down that route now. They seem to assume that everyone or almost everyone has Netflix. I never had Netflix and i never will, because its not my cup of tea and i dont need it. Another possible assumption by SI is that everyone has fiber or wifi at home, but thats far from true. The only internet i have at home is mobile data, from my monthly prepaid phone card subscription that gives me 170GB a month. If Unity Engine will force FM players to be online at all time, and the game cant be played offline, i will not be satisfied to say the least. Sure, i could always use my phone as a mobile hotspot, but thats not the way things should be; being limited. Instead of freedom, choice and options, we seem to get less of that in the future. The same with non-PC versions of FM. I see many players and potential players asking for the console and touch versions to be less streamlined and to be more similar to PC FM, in the end why cant SI provide DIFFERENT SET UPS/versions to non-PC FM players? Why limit those versions to only loading 5 playable countries, etc.? Surely devices like consoles and tablets can handle more than 5 playable countries.. Heck, im sure even the latest phone chips like SD 8 Gen 2 can handle PC FM decent enough. So yes, i am worried about the future of FM as we seem to be very limited by device and not getting many options. The only way to play the full fat FM is still only possible on PC and PC handhelds, both costing 800€ and more for something relatively durable that will work for some years. Its a shame that the PC FM version is not accessible for everyone.
  14. It took me a whole hour to write it;
  15. No changes/improvements to international management again? We have a EUROS next summer.. The reason not much people are managing national teams in FM is because it is lacking many things, which i have listed in the Feature Requests section a few months ago (which got reviewed by SI with positive feedback). Hopefully im wrong, and if not then i sure hope someone at FM HQ will finally give international management some love it deserves for FM 2025, sigh.
  16. Interesting indeed. I need to be able to play offline as the only internet i have at home is mobile data. I dont need, thus dont have home internet for anything as i check emails and stuff on my phone. Not being able to play offline would mean i'd have to connect to the mobile hotspot on my phone...
  17. The licence for the first & second division of Cyprus is probably quite cheap aswell. I understand that there won't be tons of FM players (people who purchase the game) in that country, but like you said even Gibraltar is in and also doesnt have loads of FM players i imagine, and -with all respect- Cyprus is much more quality football wise with much more interesting players in their leagues and several interesting clubs to manage. I also see people doing FM saves in Cyprus on Youtube, so its not like nobody is interested in it. The other currently unplayable countries (leagues) in Europe are not really missed, but Cyprus is.
  18. The most important leagues (at least the first and second division) from a country that is missing is Japan. I know licence issues is why, but if there comes a time where SI can get the licence for japanese football they need to pay it, because its worth it. Japan is the best Asian football country in my opinion, where we see an influx of their players coming to European leagues every year. There is a lot of young talent there and it would be a super interesting country to manage in! Im pretty certain it should also be possible to find researchers for Japan, as football is gaining popularity there. Getting the japanese leagues in FM should be a priority above any other leagues and countries! Apart from Japan its a no brainer to see Cyprus and Ecuador as playable leagues. Cyprus might be a small island but every year their teams are representing in European football and they have some interesting players in their league. Out of all unplayable european countries (and thus their leagues) in FM Cyprus is probably the highest quality one of them all and it would be interesting to manage there and try to get a cypriotic team in the Champions League group stage! Ecuador is another one that just needs to be in FM, it has many talented players and is the highest quality unplayable country missing in South America. There are playable countries in FM that really aren't in there because of their quality or players, but because of selling strategy by SI (like Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Canada,..) so to see those in and not Japan, Cyprus, Ecuador and Paraguay is a little unfair tbh. I know you can download editor files from people who enabled certain leagues, but it shouldnt be this way for good/decent football quality countries like Japan, Cyprus, Ecuador and Paraguay. Editor files can also be faulty and ruin your save, it happens many times. FM made record sales/income this year, surely there is room for just 4 licences more (and if not maybe consider ending licences from the unattractive countries that i mentioned before).
  19. I know this was suggested several times before, but as this game is called football MANAGER i truly think this is a worthy feature to have in the game, also by popular demand. How many of the best coaches in the world haven't been youth coaches before their succes? Most coaches start at the bottom and work their way up the ladder. This would also encourage long term projects/saves in FM. Let me explain how it would work; - When coaching the U21 you would be allowed to sign players -you guessed it- under the age of 21, not older than that. The budget for signings would depend on the club's finances and their club vision (whether they are known to invest in youth, just a little, or not at all). Take for example Chelsea FC, they bought loads of youngsters for their reserves in the last year since the take over. They've spent about 10M or even more on just a handful of youth players in real life. Other clubs that arent known for their academy and recruiting would have a much lower budget, or only a wage budget, which means you'd rely on free agents under 21 (or 19) years old if you'd want to sign new players. Obviously when coaching the U19 you would only be allowed to sign players 19 years old and younger (and probably 18 years old and older because of licence restrictions or child protection laws i guess), and the overall transfer and wage budget would be much less, including at teams like Chelsea. Then again there are also many players with non-contracts or no professional contracts that you can snoop away from other teams (or farm youth intake players from clubs around the world..). - Managing the U21 and U19 teams would only be possible in clubs that have full or almost full player rosters, so clubs from the TOP 5 leagues in Europe, even their second division (in England it goes beyond that) and other leagues that are well known to FM researchers like Belgium, the Netherlands and Portugal. This would not be possible in Belarus for example. - But why manage U21 and U19 squads!? Because it is a real life experience of most coaches, because you gain experience where good results will boost your coaching stats in FM aswell as working with youngsters and motivation overall. Then again, this would be optional and not mandatory, but it would broaden the spectrum in FM and give us another challenge, almost like a new game mode, but harder and more limited, yet in the total essence of what this game is about; managing in football. - We would also be able to set up friendlies (and gain money from ticket sales just like the seniors), arrange youth tournaments, play the youth domestic league, the youth Champions League, cups and so on. - Being a manager of the U21 or U19 squad disallows us to dismiss/reject Youth Intake players (how else would we keep getting full new squads almost every season? At least when it comes to the U19 squad). This means in this case ALL YOUTH INTAKE PLAYERS WILL BE SIGNED BY THE BOARD AND ADDED TO YOUR SQUAD to replace the players that have gotten older for the next season and who have moved from the U19 to the U21 squad automatically because of their age (when a 19 year old turns 20, the next season he moves from the U19 to the U21). Remember; no youth squad was ever made up of toptalents, not even in real life. Youth coaching will always be a mix of talented and lesser talented players, that is simply how it is and part of the job. - As a youth coach you would have the power to give contracts (and extensions) to existing players in your squad, aswell as making the decision to sell players you dont like or releasing them. Ofcourse the offers will be peanuts compared to what you'd get for seniors, remember these are youth/academy players, they'll only cost between a few hundred and a few thousand euros in most cases, unless the player is extremely talented and clubs offer millions for them (for example in real life Ödegaard and Lukaku were already playing with the first team at the age of 16). Then again buying talented youngsters will cost the same and bargains will be possible for talented youngsters with decent potential for just a few thousand euros. Just like in senior football, some gems are not discovered or quite unknown, which reduces their transfer price. - Training these players will be crucial, especially at their young age, including additional focus on particular attributes. Do you decide to further strengthen their best attributes, or do you decide to improve their biggest weaknesses instead, or do you go for balance? Such decisions will determine the future abillity of the youngster. - In FM most clubs already have managers for the senior, U21 and U19 teams. When one of these coaches gets fired after poor results (or decides to leave because of an offer from a bigger club or a hefty money bag is offered from Arabia), you could be asked to take over the vacant job and be promoted from the U19 to the U21 or the U21 to the senior team if your performances are very good with the youth team that you've coached. This is also realistic because it happens in real life, an example; Rik De Mil was (and now is again) a youth coach at Club Brugge (Club Bruges) in Belgium, and he took over as full senior team coach, being promoted after Carl Hoefkens was fired. - We should also be able to manage U21 and U19 national teams from countries that have plenty of players in the game, that includes almost every nation in Europe. Then again this could also depend on database settings. *FM players who select a small player database will be excluded from managing youth teams as there won't be enough players and regens to fill up squads.* As you can see, all the ingredients are there to give us the ability to manage U21 and U19 teams at clubs and leagues with enough players researched and present in the game database. It also complements the essence of the game, football MANAGER, aswell as respecting certain restrictions and rules about minors, not allowing players under 18 years old unless under certain conditions (that i dont know, because im not a lawyer). Basically, nothing stops FM from giving us the option to manage youth squads. The players, clubs, competitions and staff are already there in the game aswell as individual training. It would also give FM players more options when looking for a job without coaching badges or experience. FM players could also make a 'Youth coach only journeyman challenge' where they coach the U21 or U19 of a club, try to win something and after that they leave the club to do the same again with another club and one of their youth teams in another country, and so on. Enabling to manage U21 and U19 squads would bring so much more variety to FM!!! Thank you for reading, and please take this under consideration 👍🏻
  20. Sounds good. An example of this are the summer signings of Aston Villa this year. Many signed to be able to play under Unai Emery.
  21. As this game is called Football Manager, it should definetly be possible to play as a Youth coach; U19 or U21 manager for teams that have enough youth players/reserves. Many coaches have first been youth coaches and worked their way up the ladder. We should be able to replicate the same in FM. I hope this option will be added to FM soon, including for national teams (adding U19 option)
  22. Like someone mentioned earlier, i hope to see players acting more natural, less robotic and no more ping-pong passing with the point/tip of their boots, which is basically as good as how every pass looks like currently in FM. In real life players almost never pass with the point/tip of their boot! So i want to see proper passing like humans do; inside boot most of the time, aswell as outside boot for skilled players (for example those who have 15 or higher in technique). Pointer passes should basically be banned as its very uncommon in real life football! Players should also be able to control the ball and give it touches while looking around for a teammate instead of inmediately passing it away like headless chickens like they currently do. We dont need face scans like FIFA & eFootball, we just desire NATURAL movement and actions, aswell as DRIBBLING! Fgs.. we dont even have dribbing yet in FM! Im not talking tricks and freestyle, just the most common dribbles like running at the defender and running (past him) dragging the ball towards the inside or outside of him to shoot on goal or pass to a teammate (now players just make 360 degree turns instead of going 1 vs 1 with a defender, and the defender just standing still..). Also make much more different stadium models (and capacities) for diversity and different pitch models/grass cuts and goal nets aswell as lighting and weather backgrounds. I agree the UI also needs to be better, and bring back the color changes we used to have that painted the UI in the colours of the club we were managing, that was a very nice detail. Im definetly forgetting things but all these changes need to be in, its necessary!
  23. I think its a very exciting -and long awaited- announcement. Im happy that they have communicated their plans for the future of FM, because everyone likes transparency and communication from devs. HOWEVER.. I do hope that we will also get the full fat PC FM on mobile. Why, you might ask? Because this will bring millions of new players to the game as mobile gaming is the most accessible and makes the biggest revenue for games. To give an example; even CODM is still what makes the most money despite COD releasing MW2 & Warzone 2 less than a year ago. Ofcourse, these are different game genres, but it doesn't change te fact that mobile is the fastest growing gaming platform that brings the most benefits (income) to games, because everyone has a phone and it is the most accessible/mobile (easy to travel with). "But the screen if too small for a game like FM". No, its not! People are playing PC FM on the Steam Deck and the Asus Rog Ally without much trouble. The touchscreen and zoom capabilities can make it a comfortable experience for everyone. Not only that, you can already customize tab icons (general, training, etc.) aswell as stat screens. Removing half of the standard stat screens creates space which means other content on a particular page/screen will be bigger/magnified if you wish. There are solutions, SI can make it happen, if they want.. Full fat PC FM would be a success in so many ways. Not everyone likes slimmed down versions like Touch or Console. Each player should have the option to choose what format of FM they want to play. When purchasing FM we should have both options (full FM or Touch) and decide which one to use before the start of each career. My request to the devs: please don't leave mobile behind! I have read the full blog post and mobile will improve -obviously- but SI needs to go all the way in their revolution!
