  1. Have seen this, have used it to get a player I wanted but didnt have the cash in hand, thus I made various fees which weren´t included in the transfer sum. Never actually occurred to me to "abuse" it except for a single left back whom I was furious with in 2034. All games have their exploits, some more realistic than others, it´s up to you in a single player game to exert a bit of restraint, it isn´t that hard.
  2. Gegenpress has a lot of issues and yes, players do tire faster from high tempo and gegenpress combined, I can firmly attest to it since I use it when I am a goal down. Playing my regular cautious counter has far less impact on how tired players get and how often I am forced to rotate. Gegenpress will cause issues with heavy player rotation if you have too many "regular starters" in your team since some of them will inevitably not get enough football, complains will come your way and your performances might degrade. Playing against a high tempo team will also tire your players, especially if you are playing a good side where chasing is all your players do. There are issues with the match engine, gegenpress is not one of them. Playing a high tempo game all 90 minutes with a squad of misfits is perhaps overlooked when people talk gegenpress, they usually combine those two.
  3. I am having huge problems with a squad of 24 players, being ranked 1st in the world means I can´t just buy willy nilly, even my gambles as squad players are now all demanding to be important players in new contracts, these are max 3 star potential players and 5 of them are really just that, not good enough to be considered regulars but they fill the holes 4 star players 4 important players 7 regular starters 7 squad players 2 youth 14 of them are concerned with their playing time but no complaints as 2035 finished, I have rotated as much as I could given both necessity due to congestion and playing time concerns. No one has played above 42 games except for the keeper in a season where I am in all finals except for the FA Cup where I lost in the 5th round. The season ends with 5 games in 11 days, that´s a game every second day ... two of them are CL semi finals. Given all the concerns my players have about not getting enough playtime I looked at other squads. Liverpool barely avoided relegation this season (2035), last season (2034) over half of their squad were asking for transfers due to playtime issues, I bought two of their squad players on the cheap. Liverpool´s problems continued into this season as their rotating necessities left a lot of players angry. This is Liverpools squad now .... everyone there seems sort of content now, at least everyone is playing but they lost most of their squad. Liverpool is not the only team having rotating and angry player issues, M. City have also declined a lot with the same issues.
  4. Yeah, I had 8 players returning from internationals in midseason with the jaded status after 1 domestic game, it was practically my entire first team. I sent them on two weeks holiday and suffered the consequences. They were fine after that. I have tried to take them off pitch/gym work for two weeks but that doesn´t help nor did it do anything to rest them for two games, most of them will also get grumpy if they don´t play. Since I play a match every 3rd day there is little time to rest for longer periods of time even with the "talk about resting" option. Lots of real life players playing almost every single game, I can´t get them to do that in FM. On the plus side I am not the only team with those problems, I can see the AI rotating their players a lot, often 7-8 players after a single game in a busy midweek schedule. So, it´s equal for everyone.
  5. I found a bit of a tedious solution for my loan problem but it´s a hassle. All offers need to be negotiated but the AI doesn´t really have a clue, they always come up with the "fringe" offer, if you negotiate that to "regular starter" they refuse to pay as much in wages, usually only about 20%. With the original "fringe" you can usually negotiate up to 80% wages, sometimes down to 50%. My experience is thus far that the "fringe" status is cosmetic, they do get to play a lot if they are good enough ... that´s up to you to find out by checking the team in question. YES ... it´s a lot of work ... but I did manage to loan out 15 players with reasonable deals at the start of 2034. I am ranked 1st in the world and expected to win everything, my Wrexham board doesn´t mess around but they are willing to be extremely dissatisfied with players going on loan to feeder clubs even though they are paying full wages for the most part, only is receiving 60%. I have Braga and Sevilla as feeder clubs, Braga is currently paying 100% wages for 3 of my 18 year olds ..... the board is angry with all of the deals. But yes, if you are willing to spend a couple of hours negotiating loans before deadline day.... it can be done.
  6. Yeah, I just offered one of my youths on loan, he is wanted by everyone .... the next Gareth Bale from my academy .... ... anyway, I offered him for 50% of the wages which is 5k Euros Anyway, I received 19 bids ..... all wanting to pay exactly 0, so yeah .... something is definitely up. I didn´t have problems the first 6-7 seasons, now it´s just normal.
  7. I have a player, 17 clubs are interested, mostly foreign, tons of bids to loan him but they offer a big 0. I have loan listed him for 50% of his wages with no monthly payment, nobody seems to be bidding that. That includes most other prospects I have, tons of offers .... but most clubs aren´t offering anything. This has created a bit of an issue as I can´t send players to my feeder clubs, the board gets extremely upset every time I do.
  8. I find it hard to sell my "good" players as no one comes up with 100+ million dollar bid thus for the past 3 seasons with Wrexham I have limited myself to sign one player every season, usually a wonderkid. It´s very tempting to go for more but I resist it.
  9. This is what my happiness thing looks like without any cohesion except for pre-season.
  10. Thanks for the link, I am getting superstitious as I have only dropped points in matches where I didn´t train tactics before matchday, I used to leave it midweek but since I started using it before matchday it has gone a lot better. Could be other things though, just superstition I guess :).
  11. When I assisted the youth setup in OB (Odense, Denmark) we had two schedules, one for those playing on matchday and one for everyone else, that doesn´t exist in FM I have two squads basically in my current setup, an A and a B squad, they all see a lot of playing time but some are of course left out every second game as I need to rotate. But basically in the month of January there are 4 training sessions for the entire squad, that´s not what I would consider practically sound. The picture shows that there is little room to implement any sort of training and those left out of some matches don´t do anything around those days.
  12. I am at Wrexham and have won the Carabao Cup 3 times in a row, that´s not bragging, I actually wanted out and played mostly reserves but for some reason it´s the only thing I am able to win, this has lead my team to have a difficult schedule. I am also fighting the Champions League and FA Cup. The above has lead to an incredible tightly and congested fixture list where I often play every third day leaving only 2/3 days most of the time to do any training done which becomes difficult if I don´t wanted jaded players all around. So, since a lot of the schedule doesn´t have much training and it´s mostly dedicated to recovery, tactics and focusing on next match the "promising players" aren´t really getting a lot of training. How do you go about handling your promising players when your team is playing so many matches that training is scarce?
  13. My captain showed up demanding that I reinforced the squad but I have no funds left so I told him it wouldn´t happen as I felt the squad had enough depth. They all got furious and with my experience that´s how it will stay for the rest of the season which just started. I asked a few players for suggestions, none which were applicable came up and in my last game they played like a sack of potatoes. I am out of ideas.
  14. Depends on the type of player, CR7 was known to all from an extremely young age as extremely ambitious and his determination wasn´t hidden, the guy trained at home and everywhere he went, never did hide it. He was very determined to succeed, I don´t think anyone could ever doubt that whether you liked him or not. More quiet players like Messi were far harder to figure out early on, only those close to him would know but in hindsight it seems he was more than determined. I do understand the controversy as many youth players fail their promising start due to the lack of determination, they buckle under the pressure and fail to sustain their performances after a little media praise, something which surprises some and can´t always be known. I have worked as a youth coach for OB (Odense) and the determination of a player was actually easy to spot once you are close to each individual.
  15. Luis is just one of 7 players in my game tied to relatively "small clubs", he has been wanted by M. City, M. Utd, PSG and Barca for 3 seasons now. But nobody ever seems to be put down that kind of money which means none of the 7 players are moving anywhere. I tried to bid 2 seasons ago but Rennes wanted 200 million, they are 12th in their league. The same could be said for the 6 others all wanted by big clubs but with unpayable release clauses and tied for a pretty long time, seems upsetting them by bidding is impossible because the club can actually like I do promise that he would be sold if a 200 million bid comes in. Havn´t seen that happen. All in all there aren´t a lot of big transfers, everyone seems to be clinging on to what they have which from an FM perspective makes sense, strengthening is hard since players cost the type of money no one has ( I think). It´s what I have done since I really can´t strengthen my squad, havn´t sold or bought a player in 3 seasons now excluding youth deals. I just promise them that if a XXX bid comes in that I will take it, no one is bidding 100+ million outright.
  16. I experienced that too at Wrexham as I went from the 2nd to the 1st division, could be because I had gotten a stadium expansion which was already planned when I took over the club. A lot more sits allowed for a price reduction, dunno, didn´t think much about it.
  17. My captain got angry because I sold a right back, little did he know that I was in the middle of a swap, the incoming right back needed a work permit though and it took a little longer. The new right back arrived and a promise was fulfilled. While he was happy in the "promise department" which I had 360 days to fulfill he never got above "satisfied" in the overall happiness until those 360 days were over. Because he is a winger it greatly effected his performances and only after a year did he start to play well. The same thing at the same time happened with my keeper, the whole squad gathered around me although a new and better keeper was on the way. Too many asking for new contracts while having 4 years left of their current one, refusing is a marathon of unhappiness and since I don´t save scum to try different dialogues I usually have to somehow comply. Failing to do so practically leaves extremely important players unhappy and unable to perform at their best. I tried to transfer list just one of my players, he didn´t like it and a year after he is still unhappy, I can´t really probe the market and tell him that I was looking for a Real Madrid offer which never came. He so desperately wanted to go there and I would let him ..... except that he didn´t understand my offer to Real Madrid for an exchange. That means I can´t put anyone up for sale since I am afraid they will be unhappy until the end of their days, since I have a few wonderkids that means no fishing for big club offers. No unhappy players now ..... but I am not doing anything really to the squad other than complying, agreeing and not selling any players.
  18. The only thing I can add to this is to abstain from using a playmaker and try it out. If you aren´t using one then I don´t know. If your team is relatively successful compared to others the AI will tend to counter it, if it means pressing and marking your playmaker you may see a drastic reduction in successful passes because a lot goes through him. I stopped using playmakers because of that, some never had that problem ... but you could look into it.
  19. I played some long careers, can´t imagine how on earth I would ever get that much money, I usually just manage to maintain the balance even with lots of wonderkids to sell in some saves. Maybe a trick I don´t know about.
  20. Luckily VAR has yet to play a major significance in my career, either negative or positive. Into my current new season though with 6 matches played it has been hilarious, my last match saw 3 goals ruled out early and other 4 goals checked for offside. I never start with an attacking formation but always need to go 4-2-4 at some point because my team will always concede on their first shot on target, that means changes. Could be that my third tactic (the chasing one) is a bit too offensive and thus all the VAR calls. It´s definitely been a bit over the top with game stops in my case, could my fault entirely, dunno.
  21. In my 6th PL season Arsenal and M. City are sitting top of the table after 27 games with the worst goalkeepers in the league according to save percentage. Checked each keeper´s stats and they looked excellent to me. Manchester United´s Onana on the other hand is doing well, so there is a disparity I fail to understand. My keeper is named Kastenmeier, has decent stats all over but hardly ever gets a 6.9, it´s more like 6.2-6.6 almost every game. He is not doing well when compared to other keepers, one of the worst. From what I have seen of footage the keeper is often blamed for goals they can´t do much about, even if it´s a low XG shot. Arsenal had 2 fantastic long shots against me, both went in hitting the triangle, few keepers in the world would have saved them and yet Kastenmeier was down to 6.2 in a game I lost 1-3. The last goal was a tap in from Arsenal from a cross, nothing the keeper could do either. Pair the above with the fact that underdogs against me seem to have a much higher scoring rate and it makes sence for world class keepers to be abysmal. The only top keeper to actually be an exception to this is Man Utd´s Onana as mentioned, he is doing well all across the board.
  22. Yes, I am on the PC, I have only had success with attacking mentality in some cases when chasing a goal down, otherwise it has proved very unproductive, I do create a LOT of chances and get a high XG but nothing goes in. Positive seems to work for me too at times, left it on for a few matches and no problems. Havn´t played around with the defensive mentalities a lot. Balanced mentality seems to work best for my side, might very well depend on roles and formation .. have no idea.
  23. When trying "attacking mentality" it seems the opponent scores on all their chances even if their XG is really low, at least for my Wrexham side. This creates some rather rather "entertaining" games. Last season I had a non winning streak of 12, played attacking and suffered. 5 draws and 7 losses .... but with higher XG in all games. Also a lot of silly score lines. Switched back to balanced and things started to shape up, less XG but it seemed the defense was a lot more solid and my team was far more effective. Now I seem to have somewhat more realistic scores.
  24. Is that in the first season of FM? If so, then yes, seems awfully harsh. If not then you have to remember that last years form counts as well, so if he lost a lot .... then it doesn´t take long for a manager to get sacked into a new season. I took Wrexham through the ranks and got 3 consecutive promotions to reach the premier league, the fans were never happy with me, so there are other underlying criteria in FM which elude me. I don´t recall having done anything stupid but they especially disagree on transfers and so does my board. But negatives take time to accumulate, so, if it´s the first season then I have no clue.
  25. What happens to the money I am paying in Denmark to watch the PL live then?
