  1. Hey, I like your tactical idea. I am a total tactical noob, I always visit this forum to get an idea. I was gonna start a new save for quick 5-10 seasons tonight. I might give your tactics a go.
  2. I tried to play with the save game from Benchmark thread and I tried Benchmark D save file. I have base M1 Mac Studio with 32GB RAM. It was bearable at first when I just started with a team, but once I have settled down with my team, I wanted little more faster game play, which is not possible in a huge database like that. So I'd say it's better to have 100k player database if yo have beefy system to get a balanced game world. I personally have 2 saves; one with big leagues in my Mac Studio, typically big 6/7 EU leagues with all levels loaded, then few countries in LatAm/NA/Asia to have variety in players. I try to stick around 80-100k of players for my big save. I also create a smaller country save in my M1 macbook - it typically contains around 50-60k players with 6-10 countries such as Belgium, Holland, Portugal and similar countries.
  3. This looks thoughtful. Thanks for sharing with us.
  4. No one. Remember Oscar? Moved from Chelsea to China for money? But once he couldn't stay there, nobody could afford him. He eventually stayed in China, and now nobody gives an eff what he is doing. Can you imagine he scored 2 world cup goals in his name? I guess they just want the money. I am pretty sure PSG, Bayern, Dortmund etc. will not go for similar league in the future. German clubs are mainly fan-owned, and they have lots of say what to do in these situations. And top English teams has huge local fan base, they don't want to go for the same route one more time. But I can see top La-Liga and Serie A teams can go for this type of world league in the future.
  5. It doesn't actually. But I do it for role-play purpose. I retire at the age of 75-80 always.
  6. Well, I also play FM17 and I use sortitoutsi community update for 2018 season while starting a new game. They come in a pack of multiple files - one for each type of updates. One for all injury, one for all media personality, one for only transfers etc. I only enable Injury and Transfer files and do not enable others. However, I don't know if any other community pack comes with similar separate files or not. This is the only way you can use only transfer data updates and not others.
  7. As I replied in the other comment, I still play FM17 under Ventura, and it mostly works fine. I have FM22 from Amazon Prime, and it still works under Ventura. So, it is safe to assume, all the current or recent FM games will still work under Sonoma. Windows has better backward compatibility than macOS. Last time I used Windows in 2017, I could run a 32-bit version of FM under Windows 7/10. When I moved to Linux, FM has a supported version for few years. Now I am in Apple ecosystem, I see Macs don't support 32 bit anymore (LMAO!), and all my old FM games rendered unusable under macOS. I thought I could get away not using Windows anymore, but it seems Apple still has to catch up a lot in terms of gaming. Apple definitely takes the blame to force us to throw away 32 bit apps.
  8. Well, FM22 was released when Monterrey was the latest macOS, then it is also working under Ventura. So I guess the issue is basically something within the Beta version of macOS. I'd definitely say, if people stick to the release version of macOS, then they will be absolutely fine. Heck, I still play FM2017 under Ventura and the game never got updated. So stick to the release version of any operating system, you will be fine.
  9. Ok. My bad then. But I'll advise to wait till August end before you go and download custom DB. Why? Because transfer market is still open and sometimes a new version of custom DB will get released by community. How many times you will download and restart a save? It's better to wait till August end and get the latest transfer DB and start a new game afterward.
  10. I think you have more chance of answer in the editor data forum, this is for general discussion. And to answer your question, yes, there will be a community driven updated DB for FM23, but I cannot provide any dates as I am not a custom DB maker.
  11. Go to Menu > Game Status. Check Selected Nations, did you load other nations as well apart from Spain? Then check, Coachable Teams dropdown. It should say "All", perhaps it is selected as "Spanish First Division" .
  12. Highest I was able to manage in FM17, a 32 years save. Otherwise, I am never able to past 20-25 years mark for any save game. I lose patience and start a new save anyway. Since I am 43 now, and my plan is to retire around 80, I still can play 36/37 years save based on my rel DoB, which is more than I have ever achieved. I also play FM17, there I start career as 37 years old, I can still play 43 years of career. So, I won't mind putting my real DoB anyway. Maybe once I outlive 80 years age and still want to continue the save, I will re-think my DoB entry, but that's still a few years away.
  13. I mainly play FM23 in my Mac Studio, which is fine. But I tried FM23 Touch through Apple Arcade few months back. I'd say it will definitely get hot. MacBook Air doesn't have fans, it's cooled passively, just like a phone or iPad. Hence, if your FM session is longer, then it will get hot. I tried 2 nations, 5 league save game and play the key highlights mode, it got warm after 10–15 minutes and gets hot after 30 mins that you cannot keep it on laptop. However, if you keep it on desk, and then you can continue playing for a couple of hours, but you'll see some jankiness in match graphics.
  14. Thanks for the timing. So, extended could be 10 mins of data. I agree that once you are starting with a team, comprehensive/extended gives you good idea what's working and what's not in your tactic. That is helping for noob like me.
  15. I concur @Brother Ben I started a new save with 23.4 update with 50+ leagues and 170k players DB. I am happy to see the processing speed.
  16. This is why I use Extended Highlights. Extended highlights also takes time to show the details of attacks and defending phases minus the standard ball jugglings between players which results to nothing. I tried comprehensive for 3 matches and then extended for 3 matches (in FM23), then settled with extended. Without any scientific proof/test data, I think if comprehensive shows 60-70% of the match, then extended shows around 40-50% of the match.
  17. FM23 runs native to Apple silicon. Thanks to SI, they updated the game exe in winter update and now it doesn't run in Rosetta. I have attached the screenshot here. I think it is fair to assume, future FMs will support Apple silicon natively too.
  18. I play exactly 2 games in my macOS, in my M1 Max Mac Studio - Cities Skylines, FM23/FM17. I have all the expansions/creator packs (no music packs) for CS1 and it breezes through in my Mac. I play both FM17/FM23 with mroe than 150k player DB and it also works fine without annoying slowness. I think any newer Macs will work without issues.
  19. I think you should wait since we don't know the details about FM25 yet. I have Mac Studio (M1 Max/32GB), I play with 50+ leagues loaded/170k+ players DB and I feel FM processing speed is fine. If I have to guess/suggest, I would say M3 will be far better CPU which might be released around FM25 and it should be more than okay for FM25.
  20. Your 3rd point is very valid and I hope SI will implement this in future version. Running down club contracts are becoming more popular among the footballers now a days. I can hope this also reflects in the game.
  21. I know I am late for the season. But I just wanted to post my results for FM23 done in my Mac Studio. This will help others if anyone is thinking about getting new apple silicon based Macs. Type: Desktop Model: Mac Studio (2021) CPU Model: M1 Max RAM: 32GB GPU: M1 Max 24 Core Apple/Metal Graphics Level in 3D: High -------------------------------- Benchmark 1: 00 min 41 Sec Benchmark 2: 1 min 41 Sec Benchmark 3: 5 min 28 Sec Benchmark 4: Did not do
  22. I am already sold on FM24. Why? I was an avid FM player. My very first was FM08 (disc no longer works though) and I have FM09 - FM17 in Steam. I stopped playing in 2018 due to work-life balance (work, life, kids etc.). But last year I switched job and now I have 100% remote work. Hence, I started playing FM again but didn't buy the latest one, still playing FM17. I tried the 2023 demo and felt newer FM has too many changes and I feel some are good, and some are okay. Rather than buying FM23 at this point of time, I'll wait for FM24. I'll definitely buy because I want few real life football changes in my FM career. Namely, 5-sub rule, new UEFA tournaments, new generation of players etc. Going from 2017 to 2024 will be helluva jump and I am anticipating tough times at beginning. Also another reason is, I am Apple ecosystem person. FM now has native Apple silicon support, I'll love to run it in my Mac Studio.
