  1. Hello Everyone Just wanted to get a thread going and ask some opinions on teams really. Thinking ahead to FM23 and who will make for good teams to manage. Had some early ideas just wondered your thoughts. Please bear in mind, im not that hardcore of a player. MANCHESTER UNITED - New exciting signings, new manager, re-establish dominance in the city, get the league won and end the Man City & Liverpool dominance. See out the end of Ronaldo's career. CHELSEA - Spent loads of money, not improved the team, no clear style of play or preferred formation, big expectations and needing a new manager. DERBY COUNTY - Huge rebuild needed, massive club playing at far too low of a level after financial ruin. ALBION ROVERS - I love this team. Plucky Scottish minnows who have battled relegation 4 or 5 seasons running from Scottish League 2, tiny stadium and competing on an unlevel playing field with full time teams and teams who have decent amounts of money like Dumbarton, formerly Cove Rangers and Kelty Hearts in previous seasons too. Tiny squad. MARSEILLE - Toppling PSG would be a huge ask but their squad is made of players im very familiar with, most of whom had careers in the premier league. Feel there is potential to build the club and see off the threats of Monaco, Nice, Lyon etc for "best of the rest" Theres a few others too but my initial inclination is possibly towards one of Man Utd, Chelsea or Albion Rovers. Which do you think would make for a good save, and maybe even suggest a team for me to get stuck into and why? Thank You!
  2. id say maybe a strike pairing of target man (s) and advanced forward (a) would be better for a 4-4-2 set up as youd be trying to exploit space in behind with the advanced forward whilst you can hang up crosses from your wide men to the target man. You dont seem to have much variety on the wings, and theyre not supported by the full backs either. Is there any potential for overloads? 2v1s down one side? more variety in the play. The central midfield pairing is a good one, the BBM will get forward to support attacks. It might be worth setting the right full back to an inverted wingback to cover and space in the middle of the pitch vacated by the BBM. Id probably use a PI on the central midfield (s) just to ask him to sit in the middle of the pitch. Then its about using some instructions to determine the style of play with and without the ball, youve got a good defensive shape there with the 442
  3. No one doesnt HAVE to be a BBM, but it would certainly offer you more balance if you had one player sitting, and one you give a little more responsibility to go forward to. You cant realistically have a two man central midfield pairing BOTH set to attacking, thats just madness, you need balance across the roles.
  4. Im afraid that has little to no chance of working, the key area of the field in that formation is the centre of the pitch and every time you lose the ball, youll have no one there at all. One player with holding responsibility and one player with a little more box to box responsibility must surely be the way forward in a 2 man centre mid pairing.
  5. 4-4-2 is one of the best formations to use, especially for covering the pitch defensively, so this can absolutely work with the right roles.
  6. Hello Everyone Just wanted a an opinion on these roles before I test this out. Id be interested to see how this would work in FM23: Out of possession: That becomes this when attacking: Got a decent idea of team instructions, just wanted some opinions on the suitability of roles. Rate my tactic seems to like it: Thanks Everyone!
  7. fair to say Bruno's role IRL is more of a false 9 type role now? forward dropping deep?
  8. I was joking, i dont want to download someone elses tactics, id rather fail with my own
  9. I thought Ten Hag got it spot on vs Liverpool in the 2-1 win, and im thinking this tactic really suits the pacey players Man Utd have up front. Just wondered what you thought of this interpretation of roles that were used in the game? There is a lot of depth in the squad, Casemiro, Fred and Van De Beek can all come into midfield, there are other centreback options too. In terms of team instructions, id say: Positive Mentality: Look to get the ball forward into attacking areas quickly with direct passes into the front players and dribbles. Not so much emphasis on patient buildup. Counter When Possession Is Won: Look to exploit the gaps left by the opposition immediately with balls in behind the defensive line. Man Utd did this a lot v Liverpool Standard Defensive Line + Lowe Line Of Engagement: Hold a compact 4-4-2 in defensive shape, be organised and difficult to break down. Defend Narrow: Ditto, structurally solid. Could also POSSIBLY see GK distribute to flanks, but not essential. I really enjoyed the way Man Utd played in this game and would love to implement this style into FM. Any thoughts on this? Thank you!!
