You are making an awful lot of assumptions that SI "simply don't care".
I agree that there are things in FM that appear to be broken year on year. I'm very vocal about the problems with the UI in FM. I did however notice earlier that they have an advert for a position focusing on the UI. That tells me they do take it seriously.
It's just such negative thinking to assume SI don't care once they have our money. It's also bloody rude.
I think many people let their frustrations get the better of them.
Such a weird response, I read the original post as offering a point of view based purely on a "business case", there are assumptions made in terms of sales and priorities in the post, but at no point does that post say they don't care, it's simply saying from a purely financial point of view it probably wouldn't result in a short-term benefit
somehow you've made assumptions on unsaid assumptions and amazingly worked yourself up and made misplaced accusations

The debate about fixing the current game vs moving on to FM 23 is an interesting one, and it made me look back at the new features for this game as an example of what can be done if more time is dedicated to looking at a future title in advance.
Then I realised on FM's website the headline feature is "on-pitch authenticity" thanks to our "brand new pressing system which brings new level of intelligence, unlocking smarter decision making and intelligence"
I would argue that the headline "new feature" doesn't work properly as we've seen with the inflated CB passing percentages and lack of pressing in the final third, so it's all quite disheartening really

What an incredibly entitled and naive thing to say, revealing your complete lack of understanding of game development. You cannot influence SI Devs by whining about your dissatisfaction and how SI do their jobs. You can, however, state what you like and what you don't like. And if you see a bug, report it.
I would suggest it's far more naive to simply report a bug and expect it to be fixed. Still waiting on the player search screen bug to be fixed since the beta release, it's been reported multiple times, I'm sure it happens most years on release and absolutely nothing.

Lessons are never learned. The game is always only playable after xmas, and often later.
I am getting the fear of an Fm21 repeat where nothing really changes and then that's it until the next release

It's the Shaun Rooney effect, Carvajal only scored one winning goal in a cup final so there's are serious doubts over his ability to replace the man with two

I guess this is a consequence from the lack of pressing working up top, but I'm finding it hard to implement a long-ball style in the lower divisions - mainly because any long ball that's a bit wayward just trundles on to a keeper or is easily recovered by a defender, before popping a few passes around and working it back up the pitch against me. It does mean that the main way to have success at the lower level is to play from the back even if you've just got the most no-nonsense of giant, non-technically gifted and composed players at the back when it should really be the other way round

I know this has been irritating plenty of players including myself, but I think I found a workaround to this issue in case anyone else would benefit

@Rooneys 32nd minute headersI advised you in our last discussion that unless there was a game stopping issue, there would be no hotfixes before the December update, so your post has been hidden.
I mean I've had plenty of people contact me here, Reddit and Twitter to confirm it's a game-stopping issue for them too, but I understand

As far as we know, many other leagues in the world also have a larger proportion of goals scored from crosses. I can defintely make a strong enough assumption to say neither of us know that. But we do know that the football played in the Prem influences a lot of managers and the way they set up not just in England, but around the world.
I mean, Conte, Tuchel and the Italian National team have all had very good records playing with 5 at the back, but you don't see the use of that formation or that kind of tactic influencing many top flight leagues or teams.
In contrast, look at how many teams have started playing out from the back every since Pep came to the Prem. He's always had that philosophy, but it wasn't until he came to the Prem when that kind of tactic became more and more prevalent.
If we want to go more specifically into crosses, look at how valued some full backs are right now. England, most recently, had the options of Walker, TAA and James, yet Southgate picks Trippier at the Euros because he knows that Trippier has a very good delivery from wide areas/set pieces.
Multiple games, not only in the Prem, but around the world are won because of crosses. Augsburg scores 2 goals against Bayern, both from crosses, which wins them the game. Hoffenheim was also able to defeat Leipzig due to crosses as well. So it's not just the Premier League.
To say that because there is a specific range irl, the ME has to reflect that. The only way to have that would be to hardcode a specific range in to reflect irl.
Also, I'd like to note, that all examples I've bought up from irl is to merely show the fact that crossing is now a very effective, very widely used and very frequent way teams create and score goals. I haven't said that the number of crosses scored from goals irl matches the ME, all I've said is that the high frequency of chances creates and goals scored from crosses is represented fairly accurately by the ME.
Never said that, did I. I just made the statement that anyone who has watched a lot of football in the past few years would also notice the increase of chances created and goals scored from crosses.
I mean, "cross and inshallah" was a thing for a long time when talking about Liverpool or Man City.
TAA, Robertson, Tierney, KDB, Shaw, Hakimi are just some of the players who are very highly rated, whether by their fans or by the footballing public in general, due to having very good deliveries from out wide or from half spaces.
It's not a pompous statement to make when we all see it in front of us.
"I doubt you would watch enough games in a varied amount of leagues to make that assumpion."
I literally work as a scout and as a match reporter so watch multiple games from multiple leagues every single week so a big swing and a miss on that one.
This is a good write-up on the crossing stats, I think it's about a year old but can't see that styles have changed by a crazy amount over the last year, the average amount of crosses in a match combined is 37 between the two teams and about 18 per team across the "big five", so if we're regularly seeing teams making over 25 then it's off, but if they're crossing 40+ times on a regular basis in the game then it does demonstrate that the ME is way off.
https://soccerment.com/crossing-effective-strategy/
Nobody is saying that crosses shouldn't be in the game or that they aren't a legit tactic to score, but the ME isn't even coming close to replicating real life just now. I'm guessing there will be different schools of thought between the coding in the ME being too geared towards wing play vs AI managers setting up in a way that forces everyone onto the flanks. I've not seen any large sample size of user vs user games to see if that results in a different style of game being played out, but I would say it's the giant difference in real life vs FM22 stats that's causing so many complaints.
I do agree with your point on the Bundesliga and EPL examples when it comes to being more of an obvious tactic when compared to La Liga as an example, but again I've not played enough in different leagues to know if the game "feels" different depending on the league you play in or if it's all quite soulless and similar regardless of where you manage.

You can go back in this thread and see that I've bought this up already on a previous Premier League matchweek.
I've also raised many examples of high profile games where teams have won matches due to crosses, whether from open play or at set pieces.
While there might be a high proportion this matchweek in comparison to other matchweeks, the highest generator of goals and chances thus far in the season irl has been from crosses first and formost.
This hasn't been a recent trend. I mean, if you paid more attention to football in general, you would notice the increase in chances created and goals scored from crosses.
You do know there's more football than just the EPL right? I know Sky try to claim otherwise, but that is a very small part of football and different leagues play out very differently
Edit:
I had a look on the PL's website for the crossing stats for this season, it seems Liverpool are the most cross-heavy with about 24-25 per game on average, Leicester City appear to be the lowest with about 12-13.
I came across this thread that shows just how out of proportion the crosses in the league can be with the lowest average in the game being the same as the higher average IRL, so the balance is clearly off, I guess the conversion rates in the game must also be different to keep the scores in check but can't figure that out yet.
But sure, please keep giving us limited stats and then following it up with a pompous "well if you watched football as much as I do" in an attempt to add some gravitas to the opinion

For people who think that crosses are too unrealistic in the ME this season, just look at the amount of high quality chances/clear cut chances/goals from this week's Premier League matches alone.
Do you still think the ME is too unrealistic in that part of the game?
ah well that's fixed it then, a sample size of 6-7 matches from one league is enough for me

As I said above, that kind of issue , whilst frustrating, is never going to be rated as an issue worthy of a specific hotfix or mid cycle update. Making suggestions about the competence of the developers in an issue that you have no knowledge about is also not appreciated, so I suggest that you leave it there and move on, please.
It's not just frustrating, I've paid full price for a game with a basic defect that prevents me from using a major feature that prevents me from getting a full game going, and the blasé attitude and usual crying about the slightest criticism is just classic SI

Unless you have access to the game code, how can you state that any bug is simple to fix? How do you know nothing has been done? Only reported bugs that directly affect how the game runs will merit a hotfix and all others that are fixed will be included in the major updates- None of us know what is and isn't fixed and what is and is not easy to fix.
This is true, I don't know what's simple and what isn't. What I do know is the game has been out for almost a month now, and the player search screen isn't useable in the scouting tab due to the reset, I've been told it's a known issue, I've seen updates come out that haven't addressed it. Every other game in existence seems to manage to present a simple filter/search database for functional use, so I just presumed that meant any competent game maker would find it a simple thing

Reporting a bug literally takes... what... 5 minutes of your time, maybe a few more? But it'd likely save the developers more time if they had examples of a bug that's occurred (or about to occur) rather than having to recreate it on a separate save.
This attitude of "I can't be bothered to report this bug, SI can recreate it themselves" is a big reason why so many bugs stay unfixed.
I mean I reported something that I thought was pretty simple a while back and nothings been done so I can see why people don't see the point of doing it

Hello everyone, I've been having an ongoing issue and was advised to raise it in here to see if anyone else is having it and if there's a known fix.
It's basically to do with this screen here in the scouting screen, whenever I scroll down and click in and out of a profile it resets and takes me back to the top of the list every time. Does anyone know if this is a "game" problem that will always apply, or can certain skins fix it?
Thanks

For those having resetting scout search’s try and ask in the skinners hideout part of the forum.
I vaguely remember last year this happening and a small tweak in the file that controls the search fixed the issue.
If you haven’t already I’d also recommend going to preferences, interface, and unticking “use skin caching” then clear the cache and reload your skin.
Often this can sort out glitches as mentioned. No promises, but worth a try.
Cheers for the advice, actually thought it had worked as it lingered for a full four seconds at the right spot when I clicked but then bam, straight back to the top

what do you guys mean by this? I don't think I'm having that problem. What I see is once I click on a player and go back to that screen it applies the filter again and takes about 5 seconds but it comes back to where I stopped and it has always been this way
See mine is going the other way, it returns to the correct point on the screen and lingers for a second or two, before resetting to the top of the page again

THIS* Really really bugs me.
I don't want to be scrolling down a list of players, then click a player only to then have to scroll down the list again to find where I was previously.
I get it's a very tiny part of the game but I just can't get a save going at all, I've tried to find workarounds by just right clicking but if you want to make offers or trials then you still need to click in and out and it's just impossible to do any kind of proper searches

ah man, player search screen still resets

Now closing in on a full month since the beta release, and still no fix for the player search screen constantly resetting after every click in the scouting screen, finding it impossible to get into a proper save until it's fixed

Some of these may be accurate, but some also seem to be absurd, namely the Raphael Guerreiro, Reece James and Lucas Digne values. Are left-backs seen as the true gamechangers or something?

The player search screen resetting each time is completely killing me getting into any kind of long-term save unless I manage in my home country where I have an idea of most of the players
The whole youth development thing actually sounds more promising than a bug, I always found saves got boring in the top countries after a few years because there were just too many world class players around

Is there genuinely no fix for the player search screen resetting every time you click in and out of a profile despite it being almost 4 week since Beta launch?

It's more that it's listed as something that's been fixed and has been an ongoing issue. What's the right click workaround?
