  1. In this particular transition, I was on the counter so flooding men forward, the through ball was very much on! I do have 'shorter passing' on which could be used as an argument as to why this happened but I also have 'counter' selected and regardless the wide man eventually played a more direct, longer through ball. The earlier ball was wide open though and a much clearer option than the later through ball played in, luckily my striker curved his run (nice part of the new ME) and stayed onside when the through ball eventually came to him.
  2. I can't comment too much on how many times this has happened in my save - but one specific incident stands out that I remember which matches this. There was a very clear, open through ball on to the striker but my midfielder also passed it wide - the wide player then played the forward in and it led to a goal thankfully but I remember being perplexed during the replay as to why the first man didn't play the through ball.
  3. I had the player interaction where someone is concerned a new signing will take their place in the team. I chose the 'promise' - "don't worry...there will be no changes to your agreed playing time". The player was very pleased with this as can be seen in the screenshot below. As soon as I exit out of the summary, there is a message in my inbox about Robin Tranberg unhappy promise not kept. I had to back down "I'm genuinely sorry, I've not been able to find room for you so far...you'll get your minutes soon" Has left me with a failed promise and a new promise. Have uploaded save file just prior to the initial interaction with regards to playing time concern following new signing, so you can recreate. [playing_time_promise_bug.fm]
  4. No worries - 53rd minute goal. IF Elfsborg v Varbergs BoIS.pkm
  5. Just as an update, now 20 games into the season and the supporters are eventually expressing their 'extreme disappointment'! If 10 games into the season was too early for their disappointment to register, it probably should say 'reserving judgement' as opposed to being pleased based on the stats I posted above...
  6. 10 games into a 30 game season and I'm overperforming so board and supporters are happy but not having much joy from set pieces. However, the fans are suspiciously happy in this department: Attacking Scored 0 from corners (top ranked teams have 6, 4, 3 and 3 for reference). Rank - bottom. Scored 0 direct free kicks (top ranked have scored 2, a few others have scored 1). Rank - bottom. Scored 1 from indirect free kicks (two teams have scored 2, five other teams also 1 and eight teams scored zero). Rank - joint second but only 2, 1 and 0 goals scored in this table so a bit misleading. Defending (probably not impacting supporter status anyway?) Conceded 3 from corners (only two teams have conceded more - 4). Rank - only two teams ranked lower. Conceded 0 direct free kicks (four teams have conceded 1 or 2). Rank - joint first I guess but low scoring category, only four teams ranked lower. Conceded 0 from indirect free kicks (seven teams conceded 1 or 2). Rank - joint first but again low scoring category, seven teams ranked lower. Normally with set piece stats like this, I've seen reactions like 'disappointed' as this doesn't seem like I'm a threat from set-piece situations at all. I also presume defending set piece stats don't contribute at all as the culture item is described... It also wouldn't really make sense for penalties to be included as it just doesn't feel like that's what being a set-piece threat should be about. But even so - I've only scored 1/3 penalties! Only two teams have been awarded more but not an ideal conversion rate!

Just wondering if anyone else has seen dodgy looking reactions from the board / supporters with regards to targets or club culture? I only have the supporters with this club culture item, not the board so can't comment on that front. I may report as a bug and see what SI say.
  8. https://streamable.com/u36sva Not sure if you'd be interested in the pkm - I have it if you need...
  9. I think the new set piece creator in FM24 is great in so many ways but we seem to have lost small bits of functionality here or there. One is the ability to set 4 or 5 players to stay back (which we could in FM23). When employing a park the bus tactic or wasting time at the end of a game, I would often set up routines in FM23 where I would keep 5 players back, play a short corner / free kick in order to keep possession or wind down the clock, no big centre backs in the box needed. Also for direct free kicks if I'm going to shoot I don't really need my defenders in the box, out of position, wasting stamina to run back and potentially being caught out of position. Please adjust the set piece creator to provide a little more flexibility in this department?
  10. Ok, so not a bug but we've lost functionality from FM23 when you could set the entire back 4 to stay back if you wished. Could create a different routine where the CBs stay back but then the full backs are up out of position so still doesn't achieve the desired outcome of keeping 4 or more players back. I'll drop something in feature requests if not already there.
  11. More team meeting / dynamics fun...this one is a classic for sure... > But: > Could literally be one point in it or goal difference between these targets so it's always bizarre how the reactions are so polarised. Even if the target set was much more optimistic, I don't think any professional football players would be offended or hurt, perhaps surprised at their manager's optimism or intrigued as to how the manager thought they would be able to overperform this season and that's about it. Even if the mechanics weren't touched and there was just a terminology update specifically for season targets so 'offended' and 'hurt' were replaced with 'surprised' and 'intrigued' and the red highlight toned down to an amber, it would be a little less immersion-breaking.
  12. Probably dependent on the game situation and how desperate they are to score (if at all). I guess I could have tried watching on comprehensive highlights, baiting the press and bringing the line of engagement down to see if they were prepared to advance to win the ball at all. I kinda just made the assumption that they wouldn't really show any ambition to take any risks at all.
  13. Hey, yeah it's definitely something that could be approached in different ways. My thinking was that with them especially already being a goal up at the point they went a man down (plus being away from home and the underdog anyway), they would be parking the bus by default (in a 4-4-1), not risking too many players forward so not leaving many gaps behind to exploit. So I slowed the tempo and went more patient to 'work the ball into the box' with the extra man to pass through the lines and around them. It didn't work of course so was perhaps the wrong approach (I ended up scoring a late equaliser from the edge of the box but hey ho). In different circumstances I definitely would have gone more direct and high tempo, if they needed to score for example, or even if it was 0-0, I probably would have tried to play patient out from the back, bait the press then try to attack quickly once it gets to my midfield to exploit any gaps. Might be old skool thinking but I always seem to see a more patient approach irl against ten men as it seems to be the only option if they have all nine outfield players behind the ball.
  14. Just a one-off piece of feedback around a response to a harsh team talk (have seen similar issues around volatile reactions in general among team dynamics re squad depth etc). Apologies for the lengthy post! We were at home in the cup against a side in the division below, I rotated a little bringing in 5 or so good quality squad players (2.5-3 star) to get some game time, thinking the side was still strong enough to get a result. Concede in first 8 mins, then opposition player sent off after 12 minutes. Changed approach to a very patient possession based system given we were at home to a lower division side who were now a man down but a goal up (so likely to park the bus). Still 0-1 at half time so told the side they should be doing better and got a favourable response. Replaced the squad players with the first choices with around 30 mins to go but even my now strongest team still couldn't produce much. Eventually got a 90th minute equaliser with a long range effort but went on to lose on penalties. We had 40% possession (with 11 vs 10!), xG of 1.03 vs their 0.52, only 3 shots on target vs their 2 so it's not like we were FM'ed, it was a poor performance against an inferior side with 10 men. Now, I can count on one hand the number of times I've 'thrown the water bottle' since this was introduced as an option in FM, but I thought this was as good a time as any for this to be an appropriate full time team talk. Most players reacted positively but I now have a mini revolt on my hands with 4 players upset. I was called into a meeting as my captain and team leader thought my 'team talks have been confusing and concerning...' - yet with 6 competitive games into this season, this is the first time I've had an unfavourable response to a team talk, so as well as not being sure why my captain is confused, I'm also not sure why team talks (plural) are being referenced. Could it be a loss on penalties is considered a 'draw' over 90 minutes in terms of the team talk so maybe that's why it was considered more harshly? I understand it would be a huge coding mission but would be great if some of the promised improvements to interactions (such as "Increased context for reactions will also be provided where suitable, helping to provide additional reasoning and opportunities to convince them to change their opinion if you’re not quite on the same page about a conversation topic" which admittedly is relating to personal player interactions) could be applied to a situation like this. I should be able to justify my team talk by referencing the performance and/or situation in some way - we were at home, heavy favourites, against 10 men for 80 minutes, low possession, not enough shots, etc etc. Instead we have the generic 'back down' / 'dismiss' / 'convince' options which never seem to get the right response anyway. My managerial support is green albeit 'average' at the moment, I have a strong influence over a number of players and my performance as manager is having a positive effect on the players so it's not like I'm a low reputation new manager who they don't trust and are disenchanted with. The additional context I referenced above is obviously a tricky one but perhaps the initial reaction to harsh team talks should have some sharper logic taking into account the situation and performance more closely, either resulting in no issue being raised by the player or at least them being more open to 'dismiss' or 'convince' responses to quash the problem. Hoping interactions and dynamics will continue to be worked on before full release.
  15. Sure, no worries, seems to be an issue in any match and also pre-match so just used an older save file. U21_player_not_in_rank_list.fm Just to summarise the issue: - injuries at DC and awaiting incoming 'real-world' transfers mean I'm calling up U21s to fill out matchday squad and starting XI (I guess for friendlies adding U21 players to the squad would be quite common anyway to make sure there is cover in every position) - issue is actually pre-match as well as during the match - gubbins and woodman, my U21 DCs don't appear in the ranking lists for set pieces - if you 'preview with starting XI' you end up seeing them as my counter-attackers as this is the lower priority area so the other members of the first XI fill out all the aerial defender and tracker positions first. - for pre-match there is a clear workaround as you can temporarily move the U21 players up to the senior squad then they get assigned a rank and can be moved around in the set piece creator, but going into a game without doing this, you are kinda stuck and can try to move priorities of categories around to try to sort it out I guess. Hope this helps.
  16. Ok, this makes sense and has been removed for logical reasons. Might be worth having a look at the visual representation of the deep/balanced/high defensive lines for set pieces as at the moment then given: - defending a wide free kick with a high defensive line allows for 'edge of area' trackers - defending a deep free kick with a deep defensive line doesn't allow for 'edge of area' trackers as you explained which makes sense but visually the line looks deeper than the one above, showing plenty of room for trackers to be edge of area Perhaps the defensive lines for defending deep free kicks all need to be pushed up a bit visually.
  17. Thanks, makes sense, at first glance it seems functionality has been removed but it's just been applied more logically with the defensive line addition.
  18. No worries - have attached a screenshot, the only problem is you'll have to take my word for it that I've just changed the priority / rank list in one of my set piece categories (swapping rank positions between two players active on the pitch) - but you can see the 'confirm changes' button hasn't highlighted. If I move to another tab, it highlights fine and I can confirm and return to the match.
  19. Was a bit too trigger happy and when trying to edit 'preferences' I accidentally selected 'add new manager' (one option down). Instead of being able to cancel, I had to go through and add a manager to a team then retire in order to continue my original game. Needs a 'cancel' button!
  20. Any edit to set pieces or penalty takers during a match doesn't highlight the 'confirm changes' button, I need to move to another tab then hit confirm. Would have thought any changes anywhere in tactics should highlight this button so it's just one click to return to the match...
  21. Wow, I'm only a few competitive games in but have to say the ME really is different class this year, much more variety and realism in terms of the goals scored, just the way the players and the ball move is lovely to watch. Early days obviously but is definitely the most impressive of the new features. I've logged a few issues with the set piece creator and have seen other's notes around AI squad building and player interactions not showing the improvement as promised in the features so hoping these are addressed as is a big reason why I purchased this year's game. But bravo to the ME team, looking very good so far.
  22. Bit of an injury crisis at centre-back so had to call up an U21 player for the bench. Another defensive injury in-game means he had to come on. I then found I couldn't get my set pieces setup as desired because this player wasn't in the priority lists at all so ended up in the lowest priority category, not where I wanted him. Could this be an issue with U21 players called into the matchday squad not available in the list when in-game? Just in case it's relevant, he has a future transfer arranged but is still with us at the time of this match given my 'real world' game mode, just mentioning in case the code is somehow considering this.
