  1. Damn I feel that, I only updated 4 seasons on here but actually played 8 in Sweden and never got out of the 3rd league which meant we never went pro. Just couldn't compete with the pro teams coming down from the division above where even the bottom finishing team got like 800k in prize money. In the end the bug which meant my youth team weren't playing in a league any more was the final straw.
  2. Hanvikens SK Season 4 (2026) Well it wasn't pretty but we survived. We flirted with the relegation places a bit too much for my liking. We'd go on runs of two or three good results, put some distance between us and the strugglers and then go on a run of 4 defeats and get dragged right back in. Thankfully we found some form and started to beat the teams we should have been beating after doing a few tactical adjustments, namely dropping our line a bit deeper as we'd developed that habit of letting teams carve through the middle of us. The league is certainly a big step up in standard for our young squad and we did ourselves proud in the end. A lot of development as a result of some good minutes for young players and we should be in better shape next season. Certainly not the 36 goals from last season this time for Alkatah who occasionally concerned me with prolonged dry spells in front of goal. He struggled with the physicality of defenders in this league and didn't get the same amount of good quality chances instead relying on strikes from distance. Nevertheless he topscored and didn't give me any reason to replace him. Amar Lindberg is developing nicely and can be considered one of our best players. I'd like to see a few more goals from him as his strength increases and he can become a greater aerial threat from set pieces. I was suprised that Johan Ogren was our highest rated player this season, he seemed to make the step up better than anyone else. He has some competition coming through in his position though. Another intake with good talent but littered with unambitious personalities. I think a change of HoYD might be in order. He has a professional personality but he's not really producing many players with the same or similar traits. Maybe I'm expecting too much and the options aren't exactly many. I'll have a look in the off season. Already rated 3 and 2 and a half star players Kabeya and Lundquist will go straight into the first team. Lundquist in particular is just what the doctor ordered and will hopefully form a good partnership with Lindberg. With those two in the team we will have a keeper and defence that are entirely regens which is a nice milestone. Next Season I Just want to stay up again. Obviously a nice midtable finish would be ideal but it's important to give game time to my youngsters with facilities being so poor. There's every chance however that we could get sucked into a relegation battle so I'll keep the old heads around to dig us out of trouble should we need them.
  3. Hanvikens SK Third season (2025) It's fair to say I didn't see that coming! We absolutely blew everyone away. I was expecting to improve but I was honestly thinking top three or something along those lines but we got off to a great start and just kept going. The key to it was obvious, youth players vastly improving us in key areas, namely keeper and centre half and a striker having the season of his life (screenshots below). I believe our only loss of the season was to town rivals Tyreso FF who I see @Winski has just started a save with . It's a nice feeling to get your first promotion in a new FM and to not have it be a nail biting final game scenario. That season from Alkatah has to be one of my best ever from a lone striker, he was magnificent. 36 goals in 26 game off an xg of 16.41is crazy. It would have been rude to not get promoted with a striker doing that. I know Borjesson doesn't look like much for a keeper, but trust me when I say he was a vast improvement on the trash we were playing in goal. I believe our previous keeper had a 6.54 rating for the season before so this was a brilliant addition to the team. Another youngster was key to our promotion, Amar Lindberg again doesn't look much but I knew his pace would help with defending balls over the top and he formed a great partnership with Johnsson. Honestly with one solitary upgrade to junior coaching and nothing else in my time at the club I have to be pleased with that intake. My HoYD has a professional personality but we seem to be getting a lot of unambitious players coming through which isn't ideal. Hopefully with a promotion we can sweet talk the board into some upgrades. Finances might get in the way of that though... Olsson looks a good player, he'll immediately push for the first team and has good attributes for an inside winger on the left. My starter there is a youth player anyway and he's already a better player according to my assistant. Skoglund is a similar level to my current keeper Borjesson but doesn't have a professional personality so he'll replace my backup keeper for now. Sundberg is an interesting one, he's already one of my better players from a technical standpoint, but he needs work physically. He'll get some game time in games when we're already leading comfortably (wishful thinking). Next season I'll take survival whichever way it comes. Winning the league by as much as we did suggests we're ready to make the step up but looking at the teams in the league above there's a fair few pro teams with some really good players, so we have to concentrate on taking points off fellow semi pro teams. I'm an eternal pessimist so I'll take the relegation playoff now if you offered it! We look set to start a season in the red for the first time so I pray that doesn't come in to play with wages. We're still way under our budget cap and I can't envisage any massive wage hikes but we need to keep an eye on it.
  4. HANVIKENS SK SECOND SEASON Okay so I'll admit, we regressed slightly in terms of points and position, but sometimes you have to go backwards to go forwards right? At least that's what I'm telling the board, the fans and myself! It wasn't a disaster by any means and importantly we were able to give some game time to our youngsters who actually performed really well. Managing to get my coaching badges without too much fuss, however things like improving junior coaching or youth network feels a long way off due to our financial situation. I'm seeing some small improvement in our players attributes but going pro at some point will be a big turning point in our fortunes. The only problem with that is we might need two promotions to do it! We we're better defensively this season and that had much to do with the performances of Ludvig Johnsson who is by some way our best defender. He's big and at this level that counts for a lot as teams will often go long trying to catch you out. He's very young and looks like he has room to improve which is encouraging. Nour Alkatah was again our main man up top and reached his 20 goal target that I set for him. He's a really consistent player who spreads his goals out nicely across the games and rarely let's me down in big moments. Interestingly he's the first player in the squad to get an agent, which as of yet hasn't caused an issue. Sead Corovic is our midfield allrounder who can do a bit of everything. He's also our set piece taker and contributes nicely with free kick goals and assists from corners. Our second intake was much better and included at least two players worth of an immediate first team inclusion. However as the intake happens at the end of the season that will have to wait for next campaign to see any of them in action. We were desperate for a new keeper and seeing a already first team worthy professional personality keeper come through was a godsend. Needless to say he'll go straight into the first eleven and I have a feeling will make a really positive impact immediately. Wagberg is an interesting one, he's a scrappy ball winner with a lot of flair. Not really a role I use as both my central mid players are creators. There's a temptation there to retrain him as a wingback but we'll see. Next season Hoping we can kick on a bit now and maybe threaten a playoff place. We weren't that far off in our first season and now I feel like we're in a much better place squad wise. Financially we aren't great and we can't afford to kick around in the bottom division for too much longer before it becomes a real problem. There are no cup competitions or tv money at this level so there's not really much chance to supplement our income.
  5. Hanvikens SK First season A really comfortable first season in charge at Hanvikens SK. Never looked like going down and never looked like going up. Some really nice form towards the end of the season saw us finish a very creditable 5th place and we actually ended up as top scorers in the division. Despite that our weakness is in the defense and we leaked goals especially late on in matches when in a good position which is frustrating. Having a already exceptionally young squad means they can hopefully grow together, albeit our semi-pro status means that player growth will suffer as a result of not enough time on the training pitch. We lost money but never ended up in the red and our biggest outlay financially is actually on our staff who earn way more than any of the player do which is bizarre. It's strange getting used to time of year the league is played in and actually means the youth intake happens at the end of the season, which meant I almost forgot about it! Alkatah was my main man up top, his finishing and composure really stands out at this level and he was efficient in one on one scenarios. We actually have a few good options at striker but I prefer a system with one striker team so he never gave me reason to drop him. I'll expect more of the same next season, maybe even breaking in to the twenties. Sanyang was my AMC playing behind Alkatah and was superb chipping in with both goals as assists. He was the player that always seemed to make the difference in tight games and could be relied upon from the spot. At 28 he's my oldest player and has hopefully many years ahead of him in this team. I must admit I was slightly underwhelmed by the quality of the intake, despite the abundance of 5 star potential none of them really look ready to challenge the first team, even in the areas that we're most weak. The star rating of most of them actually dropped significantly after signing which suggests my HoYD's ability to judge them isn't up to snuff. I realise I'm probably asking too much but we'll see if we can develop some of them with our sub par facilities. NEXT SEASON Hoping for more of the same! I don't think we're ready to go up yet, not in terms of our squad depth. The financial rewards for playing in the higher division aren't great and most teams are still semi-pro anyway. Looking forward to seeing if our younger squad can kick on and grow together. I'll look to integrate some of the academy prospects as much as possible which might impact on results in the short term. Financially we look set to enter the red at some point, but we're not haemorrhaging money due to our small costs so I'm hoping its not as much as an issue as it has been for some of you!
  6. Hanvikens SK Swedish second division south Svealand Time to go again, this time in Sweden. Hanvikens are predicted 10th out of 14 so not a dead cert for relegation and have a decent squad with a lot of youth, in fact the oldest player in the squad is 27. I'll take survival in any form for the first season and see if we can get anything promising from our first intake. The standard of players is ehhh....limited at this level so hopefully integrating youth won't be as difficult as it sometimes is.
  7. Sacked and relegated at Mirandela in our second season. It came down to the last couple of games and we fell short. Kind of stings to go down with a -1 goal difference suggesting we weren't that bad, but the table doesn't lie. Gonna have another crack at it maybe in Sweden. I'll have a look around and see what feels right.
  8. SC Mirandela 2023/24 Really pleased with that. We lost our first three games in all competitions but then slowly started to find our feet as we all got used to each other. A 5 at the back tactic felt like the best way to go with the tools we were given and we ended up going from strength to strength. With 5 relegation places we were definitely looking over our shoulders for the majority of the season but we fared well against the teams in the relegation zone and picked up some important points early on. 26 games is a short season so we need to make sure we hit the ground running next time, we can't afford to get dragged in to a dogfight at the bottom. We inherited a decent squad albeit with just one goalkeeper who got injured twice in the season, thankfully our grey replacement actually did a decent job and we didn't suffer too much! On paper Mane is our best player but he really didn't perform and had a bad injury mid way through the season. To make matters worse he is kicking up a fuss about leaving for a bigger club. Tarcisio and Marques (below) we're our standout performers. 16 goals from Marques is actually really solid and he is still young and improving. Tarcisio is at the other end of his career and at 38 he might well retire before next season, but chipping in with 9 assists is a great contribution from the veteran. A really encouraging intake preview was followed by a decent intake including a much needed backup goalkeeper who isn't great, but at least he's real. A mixture of personalities which is to be expected but something to build on and a welcome injection of youth and potential. Macas looks like a bit of a midfield all rounder and might even threaten a look at the first team next season, the jovial personality isn't great but there's a player there for sure. Polishchuk looks the best of the bunch with his fairly professional personality and looks like our future right wing back. Looking forward to seeing how they and the rest of the newbies improve. I'd be more than happy with the same again next season, however our -300k financial situation is only getting worse and as a result our wage budget is now capped at its current standing. With many players on the last year of their contract anyone who wants improved terms might find themselves being disappointed. Could get interesting!
  9. Hey I'm currently one game from the end of my first season in Portugal. I had the same issue with contracts except they all wanted first team player. Other than the obvious fact that they all want higher wages than I'd like to give them there was weirdly no issues with players complaining about not playing enough. Even the wingers that I didn't use all season(I'm playing wingbacks) haven't complained once. All of my youth candidates have agreed provisionally to pro contracts with normal terms so at least the problem doesn't extend to that. I'm gonna keep playing but I totally get if you wanted to restart.
  10. I'd give my left nut for that guy at my club! How many seasons does it take for the effects of a new HoYD to kick in with regards to personalities etc? Is it two?
  11. SC MIRANDELA PORTUGAL I'll throw my hat in the ring with an attempt in Portugal. I think there was something stupid like 23 eligible teams to manage so between the ones expected to get promoted and the no hopers, this lot seemed like a good balance. With odds of 700-1 in a league with 5 relegation places we're in for a tough season to say the least! Reset date is the same.
