FM23 Youth Academy Only Challenge - Canvey Island FC. Season I (23/24), Chapter II - Preseason & Managerial Debut! So we start our preseason beating our Second XI 2-0. While we lost to league sides Accrington Stanley, Bolton Wanderers, Charlton & non-league sides Bromley and Hendon, we beat Chesham, MK Dons, Enfield Town & Bishop Stortford! Going into our first game against Eastbourne, I was optimistic to get some points on the board, but I didn't think we would have such an amazing debut! 6-0! A hat-trick for right-winger Elliot Ronto, and a goal a-piece for our star Odei Martin, Jamie Salmon, and full-back Conor Hubble starts our campaign off with a bang! This result ended up being the biggest in our club's history! It's all down here from here, I guess... In two pieces of other news, season ticket sales have risen 10% from last season (from 30 to 33), and I have started studying for my National C Coaching Licence! The next chapter will pick up a quarter of the day through the season - and henceforth the post schedule shall be the following: I. Preseason & First game II. 1/4 of the way through the league season III. 1/2 of the way through the league season IV. Youth Intake preview V. 3/4 of the way through the league season VI. Youth Intake day VII. Final game & Postseason.

FM23 Youth Academy Only Challenge - Canvey Island FC. Season I (23/24), Chapter I - Introducing the Islanders! Having kept updated with this thread recently, and my South Shields FC test save proving to be a success, I am throwing my hat into the ring, and managing newly-promoted Canvey Island FC in the Vanarama National League South! This is me! Here we go! Our season expectations are modest - to avoid relegation, and to put up a good show against our bitter rivals Concord Rangers. Our squad may be relatively thin on the ground, I just hope that we don't get any long-term injuries! We have gone for a 4-1-4-1 as I quite like this formation! As you can see, In like to attack! Our hopes really rest upon the shoulders of our Spanish midfielder Odei Martin, who is relatively fit, fast, strong, and who can string a pass together! Our balance is better than I thought, but it always seems like non-league clubs leak money like a sieve, so I'm sure that this will change... We need to recruit some more staff, most pressingly a Head of Youth Development... Our facilities are basic, but the Youth Category of 4 is better than the alternative teams in the Vanarama National North/South, several of who had no Youth Level at all. At least we have something to build upon! We are predicted to be rock-bottom of the league, with odds of 400-1! I am a bit more optimistic, providing we can stay fit! Finally, at the start of pre-season, I can reveal my new Head of Youth Development - Jordan Duffy is OK at judging CA and PA, and is good at working with the youth. Mainly, I looked to sign him due to this professional personality and 1.5* reputation - the Continental C Licence is a bonus! Hopefully he can work his magic! We are now ready to start pre-season!
