  1. As someone who can't watch the little matchstick men running around and draw any sensible conclusions about how well they tackled/passed/shot, I think I would like it if the game gave an indication of how well each player was living up to his attributes. So if a player was making poorer decisions than his Decisions attribute should suggest (for whatever reason - morale, pressure) then his Attribute for Decisions might look like this 15(12). Or perhaps colour-coded; green (good) or orange red purple for poor/bad/diabolical. Maybe not all of his stats but some of the mental and physical ones where a commentator might reasonably have insight. "He looked short of pace this week" Pace 10 (5). Just so that we would not simply know the player has played badly, we would get a little view into where specifically he was poor.
  2. Toms' version on the Spectrum 48K, then CM 99/00 (or maybe 00/01?), then Worldwide Soccer Manager 2009 (aka FM 09 in the UK). Just dusted it off and yet again realised I don't have a clue. Had a board game called Wembley in the 70s. More of a dice rolling simulation than actual management.
  3. I'm playing FM 09 but this is a generic question I think. Does the player's position label of itself affect their performance in a given role? To elaborate: I'm choosing a simple 442. Three similar questions about how the player's described position (ML/AML etc) actually matters. (1) If I play my ML and MR positions as running forward in attack, is it important for the players to be styled AML as opposed to ML? Say the important "Winger attributes" are equal, does the game penalise me for using an ML there instead of an AML? (2) Same sort of question: I have two central midfielder positions, MC. I want one to play as MC(a) and the other MC(d). If I have to choose between MC, AMC and DMC players for these roles, with suitable attributes where it matters, does the game actually care if my MC(a) is called a DMC so long as the player CAN play that position? (3) Finally, I have an FC(a) and FC(d) position in my tactic. Does the game actually care whether I use ST or FC in either position?
