  1. Brora Rangers - Season 2 and 3 - Cinch League 2 (Scotland) This is the third season of my Brora save, a team in the Scottish Highlands. Trying to turn them into "Brora-lona" with a high possession tactic. I finished 9th (one spot from the relegation playoff) and this season I finished 5, one spot of the the promotion playoff. My youth intake has been middling. I have made multiple upgrades, but it has just brought most of the facilities to average. I was able to expand the coaching staff to 6 coaches, which is good.
  2. Brora Rangers F.C. - Season 1 I had a previous campaign I posted a few weeks ago with another Scottish team, but I was unceremoniously sacked when I agreed to play youngsters in the first team and they said I didn't keep that promise. I played 3 or 4 academy graduates as starters, so it may have been a glitch. I then tried two other teams and got sacked mid-season. I was successful with this third team so far. Brora is a village in the Scottish highlands and has much weaker facilities, but the squad is full of prime players which allowed me a mid table finish. I probably would've went into the promotion places, but my entire from line was injured for half the season. The first youth intake was pretty poor, but I was already granted upgrades. The biggest challenge with this save will be the finances, since the stadium only has 300 seats.
  3. Season 4 East Kilbride F.C. (Scotland) Another season of struggle. I finished 8 out of 10 a flirted with relegation. My best player, a "tricky" winger was injured half of the season and kind of doomed us to a difficult season. The youth intakes are becoming much better and I hope to engineer a new possession based style to take advantage of them.
  4. Season 1 -3 East Kilbride F.C. (Scotland) This is probably my 6th save that attempted and posted. They all seem to peter out. This is the last one I will try before the next edition of FM. My last few were in Northern Ireland. I always get stuck in their second division because you can only sign 1 year contracts so your academy prospects almost all leave before they become amazing or return a good profit. Scotland appears slightly easier (although unseating Celtic or Rangers will probably more difficult than rising to the top of Northern Ireland). I decided to wait 3 seasons to post for this save because it seemed I was going to get the sack. I started with a pretty good promoted side, East Kilbride F.C., which a roster with most of their players in the prime of their career, but they all agitated to leave at the end of the year or wanted new signings. In the last two seasons I finished 6th and 8th out of 10, but I have one wonderkind winger and a couple of prospects so we will see how Season 4 goes. Can't to insert new images now...
  5. Northern Ireland, Donegal Celtic - Season 5 In the last season, I finished one place out of the relegation spot, but this year I was able to win the league. Although I got a "golden generation" last year, I used almost the same squad except for the keeper. He was the highest rated prospect, but I was a little unsure about using him because he has an eccentricity rating above 15. He is amazing, especially at saving penalties. He saved 3/7 PKs this year. Lets see if I can get through Level 2 quickly (and avoid getting relegated.
  6. Northern Ireland Donegal Celtic - Season 4 Progression: The last season was tough. I finished 13 out of 14 in the lowest division of Northern Ireland, although I was predicted to go down, 300 to 1. Strangely, at the end of the year I got what was described as the golden generation and the year before a model citizen midfielder came through. I also developed a center back who is priced at 75,000. All of this sets me up pretty well for the future I think.
  7. Northern Ireland - Donegal Celtic - Season 1 I've started many saves in this thread and I failed all of them except one. In the last one, my computer of 8 years died and I lost the save. The was with Belfast Celtic and when it went away I was in the middle of my 10th season, top of the second division and with youth academy and recruitment upgraded to excellent. The good thing is my new computer can run FM much quicker and without it sounding like a plane engine on takeoff. Donegal Celtic seems even more difficult than Belfast Celtic as their inherited squad is very weak. I finished second the last. I was given an ultimatum to earn 8 points in the first 5 games of the following season and just cleared it. Tactics Every save I try to implement a tactical system. This is one is playing very narrow with high possession and the use of overlapping wing backs. My first intake had a lot of 10+ passers who are book in everything else so this seems to be the best option. Usually, the midfielders will knock it about and then send it wide for the wing back who drags a cross across the goal. From this shot map you can see many goals are at point blank range.
  8. Northern Ireland - Belfast Celtic - Season 4 Back again! Last season I made it into the Championship group, but at the end of this season I was caught in a relegation battle, ending 5 points clear. Things are looking up though because I think I got a semi-golden generation through this year's youth intake. My first second and third years of youth intake were just "okay", getting two or three youth players each year. My entire is now all from the youth academy with most of the veterans retiring at the end of this season. I usually play in a 4-3-3 with a single pivot defensive midfielder. I had workable striker, wingers, defensive midfielder, and back 4, but my two midfielders were missing the key elements. This intake I got pretty good deep lying player maker with 12 passing, first touch, and decisions. He went straight into the first team and is already spraying through balls for my advanced striker. Another midfielder also came through who seems to be a good fit as well. Still don't have much time, but I hope to go in-depth with my prospective tactics. Hope to instill "Total Football" soon.
  9. Northern Ireland - Belfast Celtic Season 1-3 I started a few saves in this thread, but most of them died out so I decided to do a few seasons before I posting again. Northern Ireland seems to be considered one of the hardest tiers to go through. I was extremely successful with this save so far. I won the third tier in my second season and got to the top half in the second tier in my third. I haven't been able to do that even with regular transfers in the past. I'll post about tactics more later, but I started with working the wings with long balls. I'm hoping to implement a more possession game as I get better recruits.
  10. I don't have time to do a full update, but I just realized by I got two brothers in two years consecutive years of my youth intake. They both look like they could be leading players on my team. I'm currently in my fourth year in Sweden and they both have Swedish-Montenegrin dual nationality. I play one as a midfielder and one has an inverted wingback so they will definitely link up on the pitch.
  11. IFK Lidingö - Sweden - Season 1 and 2 The last couple of times I posted my first season I was unceremoniously let go, so I waited until the first season was complete. I've been trying to do Sweden, but it is incredibly hard to not get relegated because you are basically given 10 players. The first I stayed up by winning a relegation playoff 2-1. I basically got by in the last games by playing newly signed regens. The second season was a bit better, but I was only a few places above the regelation zone. I do think I am well placed because this club surprising gets about 300,000 in funds every year from membership fees. I have almost 2 million in the bank now. I am just waiting for the board to approve some youth improvements.
  12. Hi guys, I'm starting a new challenge save. I posted earlier about a Northern Ireland save, which I did well in, but I grew tired of it when most of my team was poached before even making the top tier. I tried Denmark as well and got fired before the end of the season. This time I'm trying Portugal for the first time. It is very appropriate for this challenge because the lowest tier in the Portuguese system is divided into 4 leagues with 5 relegations every year. This means there are 20 new teams every season, giving you the pick of the litter. There were a couple promoted professional teams which were still predicted to go down. I picked Loures, which is a city near Lisbon. I waited until after the first season to post because I thought I might get fired again. Grupo Sportivo de Loures I was able to get mid table the first year, hopefully I can make a run for promotion the second year. I'm already 200,000 in the red and over the salary limits, so let's see I can resolve that as well.
  13. Hi Guys, Back to recount Year 3 of my Belfast Celtic save in the third tier of Northern Ireland. I posted the first season earlier, which I lost out on promotion on the last day by a missed penalty. The second season I didn't get a win until December, but I was able to stabilize and avoid relegation. This third season I earned promotion by winning the league, eight points clear. I'm not sure if I will be able to stay up the coming season as we don't really score many goals. My leading scorer only had 10 goals, so scoring is fairly spread out. The key thing in Northern Ireland is that in the second tier you can sign multiple year contracts (the third tier is only 1 year, with a possible option clause). I going to try to lock down all my players once I go up. Tactics: I designed my tactic as a fluid-counter attacking style, but I end up dominating possession and having a hard time breaking down defenses. Usually I end up pressuring the 6 yard box until we nick a goal on a set piece and then we get another goal in open play. I've been using a False 9 as a striker in a diamond midfield with a wing back on attack. My defenders almost end up defending on the half way line. Youth Intake -Unfortunately, my Youth Intake this year has only been mediocre even though I've received a lot of academy upgrades. I might move to change my Head of Youth Development.
  14. I unfortunately forgot to screenshot my end of season stuff, but in an update on the first year of my Belfast Celtic save I went into the last day of the season top of the league, but lost on the last day sinking my promotion hopes. I had more than 1 XG over my opponent and my striker who led the league in goals missed a penalty. I realized that most of the team in inherited has the dreaded "hates big matches." Other than that I got a good youth intake, upgrades to youth coaching and recruitment, and the board decided of their own accord to become an affiliate of a team in the premiership, worth 10,000 a year.
  15. Hi guys, This my first post on the forum. I joined specifically to try this challenge. I choose to do Northern Ireland. I tried a save before this current one, but I got relegated in the second season after most of my key players got injured, including the goalkeeper. I re-simmed and got a different team, Belfast Celtic. The squad is slightly better, and results have been really good so far. Almost all my players have acceleration and speed over 10 so it seems I'm just blitzing teams physically. After a shaky start I'm top of the league with a game in hand in January. I have only two center backs in the team, so we will see if I can ride out my luck. Unfortunately, almost all the players are over 30, so we might fall off a cliff even if we win the league. Even though I almost exclusively do lower league saves, I always try a short passing game at first. Usually it doesn't work well and I switch up, but I've been using a 4-3-3 with a false 9 and an inverted winger and forward, and a wing back on attack. Because all my players are so fast, there are able to flood the space left open by the false 9 dropping deep and then they eventually cut it back to him in the middle. My main striker has 17 so far.
