I reckon they should have shown at least a screenshot. By the time some peoples imaginations have finished it will be a few levels above FIFA. Then they will show something in 2024 and instead of 'wow', it will be....that looks last gen / rough / PES 5 looked better....
Can't wait though. Long overdue an revamp and freshness.

I am not sure what the answer would be, but I would love to see a more dynamic game world in general. If I go back to FM 20 so many players have progressed differently than the particular snapshot in time their CA and PA were captured in.

Excellent OP, thank you for taking the time and sharing this with the community.
in regards to the quoted - Have you seen if this has helped with player condition as your save progressed?

I assume its impossible to set up 4 at the back, have a CB (Stones) move into midfield and attacking positions while in possession, whilst keeping a back three made up of LB, CB and RB.
Out of all the variations Pep has used over the years to flood the midfield, his use of Stones over the last couple of months has been my favourite.

Just curious if Mason Greenwood will be back in the next update? any idea?
Can't imagine SI will add him back in until Man Utd have held their investigation. It's easy enough to add him via the editor or from the Steam workshop, if you are so inclined.

Is this guide still applicable to FM23?

On what page number did the beta go live last year?

I did my usual:
- Take over Man Utd.
- Play around with the new headline features and see which ones actually make a meaningful difference to the game.
- Wait for the release of the in game editor.
- Nerf half the team as their attributes are usually much to high and start a new save with the day one patch.
- Play a few seasons.
- Usually win the treble / quad by the third season.
- Get bored.
- Swear that I am not going to buy the next edition.
- Skip through the next editions nauseating headline features YouTube video and shake my head about the lack of innovation.
- Swear again that I am not going to get the next edition.
- Buy the next edition on the same day the beta goes live.
- Take over Man Utd....

If you play FM in November, you are going to get a November engine.
Exactly this. It's the same every year, the ME will get updates until March. If anyone want to purchase in November then they do so knowing you are buying something which will have up to 4 more months of updates and improvements to come, based on feedback from those that did purchase in the first few months.
No one is forced to purchase the game in November.

Does the datahub cover things like individual distance ran, sprints ect for both matches and / or averages per 90 for current / past seasons. If so how do I access it? Or is it somewhere else?
Thanks

This is a lame excuse tbh. A team like Man U should be a challenge in itself considering how underwhelming they have been IRL. This line of thinking basically saying stay clear of Barca even though they are in a rebuild in real life and definitely should be an interesting save in FM. No one should have to play with an obsecure team just to get enjoyment which only last after the first 2 seasons anyways.
Indeed. Managing a big club should be a huge challenge. Creating a SAF type dynasty should be one of the games hardest accomplishments considering how few managers in real life have ever accomplished sustained success in one club.
However, instead of it being a challenge, the suggestions in this thread to make it a challenge are things like...don't gegen press, only buy British players ect. Which kind of says everything about where the game is at in regards to managing a top team. I can see why SI do what they do, they would get slaughtered if managing a top team was in anyway tricky as the complaints would be a lot louder than the subject of this thread. I said somewhere on page one that I will wait for the release of the in game data editor and nerf my team (Man Utd) and roleplay my own dramas about players falling out with me, or other team mates. Or top players attributes falling off a cliff after a bad injury or age, or a wonderkid not actually fulling their potential.
I would rather the game create these kinds of narrative itself, to a far greater degree than they currently do as all of the above can happen, but its few and far between in longterm saves. Least it's an option and in my eyes my saves become more reflective of the real life situations I see and read about at top clubs every day / week/ month and season.

Have to agree. I use my first save as a bit of a trial to get used to the new features / UI changes. I use standard, preset formations and don't really pay much attention to actually 'managing' anything.
By Christmas with United I am top of the league by 9 points and won most games easily and all my squads morale is high as a result. No one is unhappy with playing time, or training ect. While Man Utd's squad is strong on paper, it should take a lot of managing to achieve that kind of form. Otherwise Ole wouldn't be struggling so much.
I usually only play as United so will be waiting for the database editor to come out so I can nerf my own team and create my own disharmony to manage, which is what I seem to do every year. My biggest issue with FM is how easy it is to manage teams that dominate everything, so hoping that my first few months so far are an outlier. But I am not hopeful.
I like the changes this year to the game, love how the new ME plays out. But would welcome more of a challenge.

An interesting video. Maybe shouldn't have been called headline features part 2 though, as it sets an expectation.
I can't remember any clamour for an improved deadline day and yet more staff meetings like there was with improved pressing ect. Unless the backroom staff AI has been vastly improved. Which if it has been improved wasn't talked about in the same way, nor demonstrated like the new pressing system was.
I saw enough in the first video to look forward to release.

Is there a way of having a Euro 2020 setup where all the correct squads ect are in place?
I know I could holiday to the point of the tournament starting - but really I want to just load up and manage through the tournament with all the correct teams, squads and managers while the real life tournament is going on.

Is it okay to start a new save with the latest FM update and your megapack? Looks fantastic.

I have nothing to say.

Tonight I don't have the kids. Tomorrow I do.
Seriously, Why Don't SI think of the kids?!?!

A good read, looking forward to seeing it in action. Really enjoyed the off the pitch improvements in FM the last couple of years. I have not enjoyed the on pitch experience at all though, so ME improvements are all I am really interested in.

Off the pitch this is the most engrossing and balanced FM / CM I have played.
On the pitch so many things feel off with the ME, but mostly the relationship between ME, players attributes and tactics. Its hard to explain but I really don't feel a lot of connection with my players attributes, the tactics I use and what is displayed in the ME. Physical attributes seem OP, its far to easy to set up like Klopp, but I have just as much success with a fast strong CF with low finshing /composure / decsisons as a fast strong CF with great stats in those areas being one example.
It kind of feels that the ME is running against a stricter set of hardcoded algorithms that is superceding what players I use and tactics I choose. It has been this way to some degree since the 2018 ME, but this is the first year that I have felt a real disconnection with what the ME is displaying. While the FM17 ME was far from perfect I did feel that the relationship between my players attributes, tactics I used and ME was more immersive and insync with each other, meaning ther players I purchased and their attributes mattered and the tactics I used to get the best out of those attributes mattered and those decisions were reflected in the ME.

Couple of things:
I have my assistant take control of training, however its got to the 2021 World CLub Championship which is taking place over the summer and there is no training between the matches? I can manually take over but my assistant is refusing to hold training sessions when delegating training to him.
General question, if I set my Assistant to tak control of touchline instructions suring th ematch, is that just shouts or actual tactics? I want him to take control of shouts but not subs or tactics.

My initial response to the new ME is very positive after a few games. Will take a few days to ee how it beds in but it has adressed a lot of the my annoyances with the the previous one.
Also runs far better with no lag and just generally appears sharper.

After keeping a regular update on the Official Beta FM20 Feedback thread since the beta release, providing my own feedback and reading countless others feedback, I have a suggestion to try and ease a recurring theme throught the thread. This suggestion sounds easy in my head, but understand the complexities of software development may not be quite so easy.
The Current Problem: Players are leaving feedback on issues (mainly the match engine) in this thread in words, where the mods and devs would rather pkms and /or saves uploaded in the specific bug request part of the forum. Most players I would imagine aren't going to these lengths, although a big shout out to those who do. I am not part of these forums during the year, only around release time and even though I have played every FM and CM since the 90s I still wouldnt really know where my PKM is. The clicks and time needed to specify issues is for me, counter balanced by the probability that someone has already raised the similar issue using all the correct files and wordage and time stamps required in the correct forum. Personally I see *Official* feedback thread and write my feedback and see many others do so to.
The Current Process: Players spot a bug in the ME. They look on Official Forums, they sign up to Official Forums. They reply in Official feedback thread. They get told this isn't enough. Go to correct bug thread. Learn how to send a PKM or a save file. Create thread with attached PKM / Save with time stamps or issue. Its a protracted process and the part where they get told its not enough is where a lot of angst stems from.
Idea: During the beta and even in the main game have an ingame bug report feature. A match has been played, something considered a bug has been spotted, there is a little bug report icon on the post match screen. Dialouge box enabling user to explain the issue and add time stamps, press send and a PKM has been sent to the same dev team that will be looking through the bug report thread. Personally I would make use of that process and find it more intuitive than the current process.
Just an idea, but after reading through this thread I do sympathise with people who are leaving feedback and then being told its not enough.

Have to say after the update I am seeing far more 1-1s being converted, plus more varied attacking play. I have seen there has been no ME changes, but something is making me enjoy the matches far more.

100% this. If attributes don't matter then I don't see the point playing.
