  1. Is it classed as a tycoon takeover @Padders? Absolutely love the pumped £0 screenshot
  2. Thanks for all the kind messages guys, really appreciate it!
  3. Previous Post: 2072/73 Season Report Club: Tranent FC (Scotland) League: Scottish Premiership League: Bit of a different screenshot, just to show the utter madness that was the final day. Any of the top 4 could win it, but sadly both Aberdeen and Hibs got a result. This is the first time in 9 years that we've not taken the league title - and I'm not entirely sure how. We either struggled or seemed to win by 3 or 4 goals. Cups: Another year, another year of no cup trophies. Actually means we end up the season with no domestic trophies - incredibly disappointing. Europe: TRANENT HAVE WON THE UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE!! At the 4th time of asking, we've finally got over the line and attained the Champions League trophy! And who else but Steve Court has won it for us. Not just in this game, but to take a quick look at the top goal scorers: Yes, that's 25 Champions League goals in 16 games. To say we relied on him is a bit of an understatement! That's now the record for most goals in a Champions League year by a long shot. The full run here, with goalscorers included: Full History: Happy to have finally got this completed!
  4. Does that actually make you the richest club in the country now? Always feel it's a bit of a double edged sword with huge takeovers in youth saves.
  5. Previous Post: 2070/71 & 2071/72 Season Report (Apologies, was playing a bit on holiday and finished off 71/72 this morning at home) Club: Tranent FC (Scotland) League: Scottish Premiership 70/71 League: 71/72 league: A 9 point lead in 70/71 turned into a 24 point gap in 71/72. We were pretty much top the entire time in the 2nd season. There's not too much to say here - Rangers are completely mid-table in the Championship now and didn't get back promoted in either of the seasons. Hearts actually got relegated in 71/72 so enter next season in League 1. 70/71 Cups: No trophies for us here. 71/72 Cups: Or here. I think this is first time for a while I've not won a cup. The board are still wanting me to reach the Semi Final of both, although I'd appreciate the League Cup not being important! I'm using mostly reserve teams in every cup match at the moment as I'm trying to keep the starters as fit as possible for the Champions League games. 70/71 Europe: 71/72 Europe: Inter enact revenge for us knocking them out last year in a very cruel way: We were a step behind the entire game, although found ourselves 1-0 up through a gift from the Inter defence. We actually looked fairly solid until an awful deflection saw them equalise. We just couldn't hold on in extra time till penalties or find a goal ourselves. That's our third final loss in six years. Gut punch doesn't quite come close to how I feel! Youth Intake: Few interesting ones here, along with some handy personalities in the 2nd intake. Last 5 Years:
  6. Spent ages doing this round up, waiting for the World Cup to end and then closed the tab after doing it all. Ugh. Attempt 2. Tranent Round-Up Anyway.. onto a round-up of Tranent! Goalkeepers: Paupol Massamba has been our number 1 for just over a decade, but he's starting to come towards the end of his career. We have Matteo Manzoni who is pretty much your bench keeper who "never plays but can do so in a pinch and be okay" kind of keeper. We do have Andrew Bannigan as a good youth prospect who has since this screenshot's been taken gone to relegated Rangers in the Championship and will be their first choice keeper for the 70/71 season. Full Backs: We're a bit short in the full back department, but we've got a couple of decent full backs. Joe Brown is our starter at right back with Hamish Grant on the left. We have Kelby Rudden as a back-up who can rotate in, but we tend to use some central defenders in the right back position if we're struggling. Centre Backs: We're relatively good in the centre back department, having gone through a bit of a transition with a number of players at the 32/33 stage. Our current starting centre backs are Cameron Macdonald and Jock McGinnes. We've seemingly got 3 players as back-ups who are all relatively the same, with the stand out being Lewis Tart. For youth prospects, Kieran Horgan is looking like our best option at the moment. Defensive Midfield: We have what I'd consider the first of our "elite players" here in Ally Collins. Equally adept in central defence and central midfield, I generally play Collins in the heart of the team in defensive midfield. Generally great all-round player who we rejected a £90m bid from Bayern Munich for over the summer. We do have a couple of our central midfielders who can cover, but our best youth prospect is currently Stephen Quinn. Central Midfielders: Onto our second elite player in Brian Leighton. I actually thought he'd improve more, but he is on that cusp of being an excellent player so I won't complain too much. The other centre midfield spot is pretty contested at the moment. We have a couple of older players in Ryan Robertson and Sam Gordon, complemented by Ross Irving who can cover the defensive midfield spot too. On the more youthful side, we have Darren Cowan (who opted out of his contract and planned to leave before changing his mind in February thankfully!), Marcelo Pastoriza and apparently high potential Jim Crawford although I can't see it too much! Wingers: Similar to our centre back situation, we're blessed to an extent with a lot of 7/10 players but no real extremely strong players. On the right, Callum Currid (who had originally played on the left till the end of this season), Aidan McGinlay and Aleksander Zhelyazkov (who originally started up front as a striker). On the left it's a bit rougher, but looks more promising. James Hudson and Kyle Wilson are 2 options, but we'll likely go with Taylor Malcolm (who appeared on the NXGN list) who has massively shot up in ability in the last 6 months. He even made his Scotland debut before his Tranent debut! Strikers: I don't need to say much here - Steve Court is by far our best player and is one of the leading European strikers at this point. He's probably the reason we couldn't get past the Quarter Final in the Champions League until he really made his mark in the team in 2066/67 (we lost to Man City in the final that year in our first appearance). Our best youth prospect is apparently Andrew Kerr - although decent mentally, will take a lot of work. For the time being, our only out and out striker back up is Kamel Amrouche. Speaking of Steve Court still, it is still quite surprising he only has 19 caps for Scotland, but he's being kept out of the starting striker spot by none other than ex-Tranent man Connor Grant. Although he's probably nearly at the cut off point for Court taking over. Not a horrible situation for Scotland to be in at all! Around the World: Premier League - Ligue 1 - Bundesliga - Serie A - La Liga Champions League - Europa League - Conference League Euros - World Cup
  7. I'd actually been resigned to losing him as he said he wasn't interested, and then in pops a message in the inbox saying he's grumbling about not being offered a new deal yet. Don't think I've pressed the offer contract button quicker!! I'll pop a round up just below this - I've not done one for a while and I'm due probably!
  8. Previous Post: 2069/70 Season Report Club: Tranent FC (Scotland) League: Scottish Premiership League: A last day league win against St Johnstone of all teams! Although the more interesting thing happened - one of the Old Firm are finally down! There's not actually much to say about the league this far in - I was rotating massively early in the season which is why we're not putting up 90+ points every season. Cups: We got dumped out of the League Cup at the first hurdle for us by Championship side Partick Thistle. Might have gone a biiiit too weak in that game. Europe: 3-1 up in the Semi Final with 7 minutes left. I'm fed up of losing in absolutely gutting circumstances in the Champions League at the moment!! Very clearly one of the better sides in the CL at the moment, but English sides will be the bane of my existance right now. Youth Intake: Not too much here - was gutted to see the Madagascar player not be good. We've also gone shopping in Brazil it seems? Other Business: Another NXGN player here - Malcolm was actually still in my under 18s at this point! A Steve Court update as well as he's pretty much world class at this point - the first one I've been able to keep a hold of (and he's signed a new contract!): Absolutely popped off this year with 49 goals - full stats here. He signed a new contract half way through the season (after making noises about wanting to leave), so I'm actually confident of keeping him for the forseeable future. He's only 21 as well, so this Champions League window I've mentioned might be a long one! Last 5 Years:
  9. Sorry Padders, took a few days off! Twice in the last 3 years now. I'm in a decent spot for maybe 3 more years with the players we've got, so we've still got quite a big window to win it.
  10. Previous Post: 2068/69 Season Report Club: Tranent FC (Scotland) League: Scottish Premiership League: Another league win - we were actually quite far ahead but we were resting quite a lot in the run up to the end of the season. Cups: We retain the Scottish Cup (after a couple of scares!) but lose in the League Cup Final to St Johnstone. Europe: We come up 1 short again! We got to this stage a couple of years ago before collapsing to Man City, but this time? It was actually an incredibly boring final with not much to say: 1 shot on target, which was a penalty. Absolutely gutting. We're getting so so close to finishing this off and we've at least still got a decent window with our best players in their early to mid 20s. We'll get there, but these final losses hurt! Youth Intake: A couple of decent potentials in there, but nobody near starting or in the first team. We got lucky with Connor Grant a few years ago, but I doubt we'll get there again. Other Business: Don't usually comment on goals/assists from a season, but we actually had a very down season from Steve Court. Although our front 5 (I play a 4-3-3 with 2 central midfielders, 2 wingers and a striker) combined for this: That 6.96 average rating kind of sticking out a bit there! Last 5 Years:
  11. Previous Post: 2067/68 Season Report Club: Tranent FC (Scotland) League: Scottish Premiership League: As close as this seems, it didn't actually feel it. Did get slightly nervous towards the end, but pulled through with that massive goal difference. Not actually too much to mention here - Rangers flirting with relegation playoff although they've seemingly been a mid-table team for quite a long time now. Cups: We end up with another domestic treble including a lovely 7-0 demolition of Rangers in the Semi Final. We actually played Arbroath a week before in the league and beat them 7-1, so that was a bit of a gulf in class. We're pretty comfortably the best team in Scotland now with the only reason we're getting lower points totals is because of the intent to try get the Champions League. Europe: We've at least broken through past that Quarter Final stage, this time in spectacular fashioning by demolishing Real Madrid 4-1 at the Bernabeu. We're so close now, ugh! Youth Intake: I've realised now I've forgotten to do the personalities here, but there's nothing major missed. We've got depth all over the squad right now, so thankfully we're not in desperate need of any position players. Other Business: As you'll see a little bit below, we've ended up with some huge average ratings over this year. I'll do a full round up of the squad next year, but just for now... We've got a very good spine of 4 younger players, which is why I think we're setup to make a good charge at the Champions League in the next few years. Cameron Macdonald (DC) - Not quite an World Class player, but a really well rounded player at the heart of our defence. He did have a Perfectionist personality, but has gone down to Resolute. The oldest player at 23 in our spine, Macdonald's started for us for the past 6 years and probably will for a few more. Ally Collins (DM) - One of our Wonderkid's, Collins can pretty much do any job but I'm playing him at the moment at our defensive midfield spot in our 4-3-3. Not so many high attributes, but a bunch of 14 and 15s everywhere. Couple more years of development and I reckon he'll be one of the better midfielders in the world. Steve Court (SC) - The first player that I think will be genuinely World Class for us and our other Wonderkid at the club. We've finally got our reputation to a point where these guys don't want minimum fee clauses, so Court is the first we've had being able to develop. A bit like Collins, another couple of years and I think he'll be a bit of a physical beast as well as better mentally. Last 5 Years:
  12. Previous Post: 2066/67 Season Report Club: Tranent FC (Scotland) League: Scottish Premiership League: Bit of a bigger picture but if you look at the bottom of the screen and then their points total and you might see why.... I feel like that's the most "St Johnstone" thing to happen to them. Constantly missing out on winning the league by a couple points here and there over the past 15/20 years, then the year they get a points deduction they would have enough to win the league. Sucks for them! We had far, far too many draws this year which kept bringing us down, but we were fighting on every front and having to constantly rotate which I think caught up with us eventually. Cups: We retain the League Cup, but lose out to Ross County in the Scottish Cup. Europe: We seem to be an absolute beast at home in Europe! That home form got us through to the final for the first time in our history, before getting blown out by Man City: My heart rate at half time, 1-0 up with 10 men was... something. Unfortunately we just completely ran out of gas. If we can repeat this next year, then we can definitely get ourselves to another final. For the first time, I wasn't that cautious of facing the top teams in the knockouts considering we battered Barcelona 4-0 at home in the League Phase. Was a bit underwhelming in the end in the final, but at least we've been able to get there. Youth Intake: Completely forgot to take a screenshot of the youth intake, so here's all the 15/16 year olds we've currently got in the academy (apologies for the zoom out, this was the only way for 1 screenshot!): Other Business: I'd actually seen this on Twitter and elsewhere, but amusing nonetheless: Last 5 Years:
  13. Previous Post: 2065/66 Season Report Club: Tranent FC (Scotland) League: Scottish Premiership League: Three in a row now and I'd like to think it's fairly safe to say we've finally stepped up to that next level that's been evading us for so long! It was actually another very straight forward season and we were a class above anyone in the league itself. Annoyingly, the only 2 losses were after the League Cup Final and on the last day to St Johnstone. Defence only conceding 23 times was fantastic, although a lot of that was in the 2nd half of the season through rotations and resting players. Cups: Absolutely destroyed in the League Cup, although we did get away with a penalty win in the Scottish Cup against St Johnstone. Means we take a nice and our first domestic treble! Europe: We get through to the Quarter Final for the first time and we narrowly lose out to eventual winners Barcelona. We're getting closer and closer and we're definitely starting to get there. Had a lovely reunion with Connor Grant who apparently still likes us: He'd have probably got us over the "dominating" Scotland step a couple years earlier than I did if he stayed. Not that I'm salty or anything.. Youth Intake: Again, not actually that much to see in our Youth Intake. Although we're having so many players develop that our staff get wrong it's a bit silly now. Other Business: We've got 2 players in the NXGN list, landing 1st and 6th! Brian Leighton and Steve Court. Leighton is probably the first player I've had that I've been able to keep hold of that is very clearly too good for the Scottish Premiership. Another year or so of development and he might be able to get into that World Class group. Court on the other hand looks to have some real high potential and has the highest value of anyone in the league by about £40m. He'll be getting a lot of minutes in this upcoming season, as I'd sent him on loan to Hearts for the 2nd half of the year last year and he completely ripped apart the Championship. Last 5 Years:
  14. Previous Post: 2064/65 Season Report Club: Tranent FC (Scotland) League: Scottish Premiership League: Have we finally kicked up another level? We actually started quite slowly, but after about November, we just seemed unstoppable. There's a fairly clear difference between our league games and our European games (as you'll see), but we've hopefully got to the point where we can actually start dominating the league. The youth players breaking through are of the highest standard we've ever had and we're seemingly doing a better job of keeping our best players now. We still don't have a talismanic figure who is head and shoulders above everyone in the squad, but we're so much more better all over the pitch instead. Cups: "So much more better all over the pitch instead" he says. Gets knocked out of both cups reasonably early. Probably why we ended up going on a massive run in the league! Europe: We get knocked out of the Champions League in the League Phase for the first time in 12 years. Aleksandar Zhelyazkov picked up a broken leg playing for Bulgaria at the start of October and you can see we found finding the back of the net difficult without him in those European games. We've actually got a very good defence, but we just couldn't find the back of the net as only one more point would've seen us scrape through. World: Oh this is a new thing...! Due to our Conference League win and winning the competition in a "good" year, we actually qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup! Somehow we almost won the entire thing! A 94th minute equaliser from Real Madrid, which to be fair was incredibly deserved, meant we lose in the final. We do seem to be on the edge of an "interesting" season at least. A breakthrough is coming at some point! Youth Intake: I missed the youth candidates filter on the squad, annoyingly so it's a little bit out of order! Some good depth here, none of them look anywhere close to getting near the first team though sadly. We are struggling a little bit for top, top prospects, but considering at this point I'm sending anyone that can go out on loan on loan to get football, it's actually meaning we're getting depth in the first team out of nowhere. I'd have given up on a few of the 2-3 star potential players previously, but as they're getting first team football almost instantly, they're progressing a lot quicker I've found. Last 5 Years:
  15. Previous Post: Didn't actually realised I'd played through two seasons, oops! 2062/63 & 2063/64 Season Report Club: Tranent FC (Scotland) League: Scottish Premiership League: 2062/63: 2063/64: Two round-ups as I thought I'd actually posted until I came to quote my previous post! Going so close in 62/63 was a bit of a heartbreak, but we seemed to be closing the gap and then somewhat out of nowhere, we absolutely stomped the league in 63/64, taking home our first title in 9 years. We seemed to have made a fairly big step up, particularly with the younger players coming through. Instead of keeping them in the youth academy, I'm sending them out on loan to whoever wants to take them and give them starting time. This does seem to have made a bigger difference, although we did give up Bede Simon for the 62/63 season to make sure he started. Cups: 62/63: 63/64: Getting dumped out early in 62/63 was a bit demoralising. Although lumbering somehow to another Scottish Cup Final in 63/64 was interesting considering we absolutely limped past lower league opposition the entire time! Europe: 2062/63: 2063/64: Another Conference League win! They're actually surprisingly simple as a bigger team with the only real challenges coming in the Semi Final and the Final. Absolutely brought back to life in the Champions League though - we're clearly just knocking at the door of the top table, but can't break through it. It is a bit more fun in the Conference League, quite enjoy nearly winning every game! Youth Intake: 2062/63: 2063/64: Even had the screenshots from the old youth intake saved, so no panic there! Steve Court looking the pick of the bunch here. Last 5 Years:
