jpapciak
Sannois SG 2015/16 - Championnat National : First Post History | General | Overview | Squad Information | Profile I'm looking forward to the challenge this brings. I could be considered your typical American sports fan, neglecting the game up until a few years ago. Never played it and never really watched it, have been a lifelong hockey fan. Went out to London years ago, my brother took me to a Spurs/Arsenal game and I've been hooked since. The atmosphere is something unmatched in American sports. I began following Spurs, and then the rest of the BPL, then Europe. I've been going to Chicago Fire games more recently as just a way to watch live. A friend hooked me on to Football Manager months ago and I've spent a lot of time trying to learn the game. I'll be taking this challenge as a way to challenge my own knowledge alongside with improving my virtual manager. The amount of detail and customization that this game brings is really something I've never seen and I realize that I'll have to learn quickly if I want to progress with this squad. Thanks for reading.
Romanista1994
Paul - Nice progress, you're steadily inching your way up to the top of the table. Your first league title can't be too far off now. berty1978 - Solid first season. jpapciak - Good luck in France and welcome to the forums! I just had the 2031 youth intake come through and Adil Yildiz is easily the biggest prospect we've had since Ismet Bolat, who at 19 is already a key part of the squad. Tecmo
2026/2027 Season Review Decided to turn down the Japanese job. Too much traveling, don't know the language, just didn't feel it would be beneficial. We managed to move one place higher in the standings, finishing 10th this season, gaining one more point on the season and improving our goal differential by 6. We drew a massive number of games, if we can turn some of those draws into wins we'll be in good shape. League Table Besiktas gets relegated, ouch. The changes we made on defense midseason really made an impact. After allowing 30 goals in the first half of the season, we only allowed 23 in the second half, 5 of them coming in our worst game of the year at league winning side Fenerbahce. We're pretty well set in back going into next season. Squad Up front, Joao Meneses was our leader on offense from the AML position, netting 15 goals and 7 assists. He's pretty great at flopping to draw penalties. Ricardo Cardoso was very productive when available with 11 goals in 15 appearances but he also suffered to significant injuries which leaves me worried going forward. Halil Tuna faded a bit and found himself on my bench more often this season. He has decided to retire and will be our U19 Head Coach next season. Dantinho continued to be a dynamo in the middle and my favorite player but Dario Capan was a bit disappointing next to him. Thinking I may try to find a new option there, preferably a Turkish player who can do some dirty work for us in the middle. Left back Jorge Silva was our one player to gain recognition this season, being named to the Super League Team of the Year. Not quite sure what to do about him going into next season as I had hoped to move on with Alper Kamburoglu in his spot. Turkish Cup Decent run for us in the Turkish Cup this year as we met board expectations at least by getting out of the group stage. Advanced easily past a couple minnows to get in the group, lost twice to Galatasaray in our group but had 2 wins and 2 draws against League 1 sides to advance in second place, but we drew a road game at Genclerbirligi and lost a tight game 2-1. Nothing to speak of as far as youth intake, I'm to the point where I'm almost ignoring my youngsters. Just no help down there. Finances Looking good financially, making some profit this season although I just got the board to upgrade our training facilities so that should leaves us around even for the season. So we have most of our players returning next season. Should be a fairly quiet offseason as the defense was the area that I most wanted to upgrade and we took care of that already. My big replacement will likely be at Dario Capan's spot, going to look to ship him out this season as well as Sergey Tuhtasinov, who had an injury plagued loan stint at Mallorca. I'm almost certainly breaking my record transfer fee this season as I my eye on a few nice but potentially expensive young players to bring in. So we made progress this season, next year with better defense and hopefully fewer injuries up front, we're shooting to finish in the top half and at least make the quarterfinals of the Turkish Cup. Tecmo
2027/2028 Season Preview Transfer History So we had a bit more busy offseason than I had anticipated. We started by getting defender Jonathan Yusuf in on a permanent basis. We also brought left fullback Jorge Silva and goalkeeper Yavuz Ozcan back on loan. Then we set a team record for transfer price, buying 17 year old defensive playmaker Sinan Firiloglu from Besiktas. Some ridiculous attributes for such a young player, I think he can develop into a star. He already has 18 Super League appearances under his belt last year. Then things got a bit more complicated. Our starting defensive midfielder Umit Kursunlu was approached by Rizespor. We tried to say no but that upset most of the team so I had to relent and let him walk. Then we pretty much gave away center back Sergey Tuhtasinov as we had played better without him and he had the biggest salary on our team. Unfortunately that pissed off Dantinho and he wasn't happy with the idea of Yusuf as a replacement. This also pissed off much of the team, including Yusuf so I went out and broke my transfer record to bring in Brazilian center back Everton. Another ridiculously good young player, I really think he and Firiloglu can lead us to great things. And then the last bit of chaos, on transfer window day Rizespor made a big offer for striker Ricardo Cardoso. Given his injury issues last season, I felt I had to take the offer. But I think I brought in a good loan replacement. Starting XI ST Bahattin Akbulut - On loan from Kayserispor, he has plenty of top flight experience and is still fairly young at 25. AML Hayrettin Sahin - Our captain, looking to use him as an inside forward. Probably need to find a replacement for him soon. AMR Firat Sancar - I've primarily used him as a striker before but I'm going to try him as a playmaker on the right side this season now that Tuna is gone. MC Dario Capan - Probably entering his last season with the club, going to use him as a box to box midfielder so he can concentrate a bit more on the defensive side. MC Dantinho - Long range sniper and generally disruptive in the middle. Really surprised no one has tried luring him away yet. DM Sinan Firiloglu - Looking for him to be our quarterback from deep midfield. DL Jorge Silva - On loan with us for his fifth season, boundless energy up and down the pitch. DC Kenan Kahraman - Our vice captain, not flashy but very solid, no nonsense defender. DC Everton - Great potential, can't wait to see how he does. DR Daniele D'Arcangelo - Our young Indonesian/Italian international, provides some offensive skill out of right fullback that I've never had before. Also, forward Joao Meneses will be heavily involved once he's healthy, but he is starting the season on the shelf once again. With his contract expiring after this season, I'm going to have to make a tough decision on him.
jpapciak
Sannois SG 2015/16 - Championnat National : End of Season Review History | General | Overview | Squad Information | Profile 2015 - 2016 End of Season Review : Championnat National Table | Transfers | Players My first season with Sonnois SG went great and the team building was quite fun. I probably blew up the team more than I wanted to, but I definitely wanted to build things my way. Kept some of the veteran good players on the squad, signed some guys on a free that performed well in the CFA, and signed some guys that were released from the youth academies of more reputable teams. This probably caused the team to struggle early on in the season and I hovered around the relegation zone. Once the French Cup rolled around, I started to play some of the French Regional teams, and had a few soft matchups in league play as well. It started a rather amazing run of form for Sannois, spirits were up and we just kept moving up the table. The team eventually cooled off and played some rather uninspired football at the end of the season, but we had largely accomplished our goal of letting me do another post here Hopefully 16-17 brings promotion news! Romanista1994
Season 17 Preseason Report Summer Transfer Window Transfers IN: I wasn't planning on spending much, but there were some good players available with other Turkish clubs interested. I do now have three senior right backs at the club, although one may be sold in the winter transfer window for a quick profit. OUT: Donosor leaving for £10M is obviously the big one here, even though I was always planning on selling him this summer because of his skyrocketing wage demands. Unfortunately I didn't get any bids with a 50% of next sale clause for him. Pre-season Fixtures Konuk got a testimonial in the first friendly back at our expanded stadium. jpapciak
Sannois SG 2015/16 - Championnat National : End of Season Review History | General | Overview | Squad Information | Profile Season Info Transfers | League Table | Individual Players I've finally finished up my first season of this and it was a lot of fun. Really appreciate Lower Leagues Rule for setting this up. It's exciting to see the variety of teams that are taking the challenge. It was a busy season for Sannois. I had a very veteran team and a lot of expensive players who were not on a contract. I ended up letting a lot of them go, and signed a few of them back. I played a fairly standard 4-3-3 formation with two wingers and a false nine in the middle. I started off the season so-so, winning and losing and a few draws sprinkled in. I wasn't doing well, but I was clear of relegation danger for the most part. Then I started playing some of the French National Division teams in the French Cups and some of the big wins really seemed to motivate the players. During the middle of the season I went on something like a 12 game unbeaten streak. I was already too far off to really contend for promotion and ended up playing mediocre football near the end of the season, but all in all, the season was a success. Here's a list of some of my key players: Benjamin Dana : The guy had solid physical stats as well as finishing and first touch for the National division, brought him in on a free and he didn't disappoint. At 23, he's definitely someone I can build around for a few seasons Bryan Labissiere : Watching Statistical Approach's "Stamford Struggle" series, I saw him go after a lot of the guys that were waived off of bigger clubs' youth academies. I tried to mimic that approach here by picking up Labissiere who was waived off from PSG's youth academy. Still raw in other attributes, the man has the physical tools to be a force in the future. Cedric Sanches : Played very well for someone that was played out of a position that wasn't really suited for him. Since I don't have a AMC or Shadow Striker role for him to play, he played a lot of center mid, and his 4 rating on tackling was probably a big liability. I'm looking into other formations to try and maximize the talent of this player. Fritz Emeran : O Captain, My Captain. At 40 years young, Emeran's stats dropped significantly from what you see in the picture here, he played well in his final year, but I'll be glad to get the $145,000/yr off of my payroll for a cheaper, quicker option for next season. Gabriel Marena : I imagine other people in here have the same issue. Marena was the type of player that you'd watch during games, and he'd always make the terrible first touch that would lead to a turnover, to a counter attack for the other team. He was the one who would panic with the ball and boot it 20 feet over the net. But then you look at his stats, and he looks impressive. He also has solid physical stats to play the winger role well. He's on a good contract for someone at his performance, but I can't count the number of times I cussed out loud in front of my computer at him. Jonathan Ribadeira : Ribadeira never really stood out to me during games. Possibly due to only having scored one goal, but had the best rating on the team. Has a good combination of physical & mental stats which is a rare combo to find at this level. On a good contract, but as its' expiring, I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to afford him. Kevin Le Targat : Probably the one holdover from the team I took over that I'm the most excited about. He's got his work cut out for him, but as 22 years old, the kid is 6'5" with a jumping reach of 17! If Sannois puts together an inter mural basketball team in the offseason, we'll need to feed this guy in the post all game long. In soccer though, it will be nice to have that towering presence to knock away any aerial threats. He may even score a few goals on corners. Looking forward to next season, I'm really hoping to make the push for promotion. My finances are starting to dwindle, and only about 400 people are showing up for Sannois' home games. I could use some television money as well. Believe we lost somewhere around $900,000 in the past year. The board might start forcing me to cut salary soon and I'd like to get promoted beforehand. Thanks for reading, feel free to let me know if you have any questions or suggestions, I'm fairly new to FM. jpapciak
Sannois SG 2016/17 - Championnat National : End of Season Review History | General | Overview | Squad Information | Profile Season Info Transfers | League Table | Individual Players I guess 'Two Steps Forward, One Step Back' is the theme here? Really was a nightmare of a season for Sannois and I'm counting my blessings that I'm still even part of this challenge. My back line spent a good first half of the season hanging out with Physio. Found myself playing quite a few 15-16 year olds on a regular basis for my Senior Squad and was averaging letting up more than three goals a game. Needless to say, at the end of the first half of the season, I found myself in dead last place. It wasn't only my porous defensive line, the team lacked the scoring production from the guys up front that I had in the previous season. Players started getting whiny when I was benching underperforming players, and ended up having to move some guys out mid season. In the French Cup, I got a bunch of fortunate draws to exceed expectations there, but it didn't seem to be the kickstarter for the team that it was in 15-16. Once I got my guys to full health, things started to improve a bit. I pulled myself out of the relegation zone, ended up securing a spot in the Championnat National for the next season. Here's a list of some of my key players: Benjamin Dana 2015-2016 2016-2017 A big reason for my fall in the league table can be seen here. Dana dropped from 18 goals in 32 appearances to 8 goals in 33 appearances in League play. His shots on target percentage dropped 10, and I believe with all of the defensive struggles early in the season that the team, that we just spent a lot of time in the defensive third and never gave him much of a chance to do his thing. Bryan Labissiere 2015-2016 2016-2017 Labissiere was a solid player for me this season despite me moving him around and having him play a bunch of different roles. Going into the season, I was thinking of having him play a winger role on the right hand side, but I moved away from that formation to a variation of the popular Executioner formation. He played a lot of central mid in this formation, yet near the end of the season I moved him to the other side of the pitch, playing an inside forward position on the left side. I've trained him there and hope to keep him there for the upcoming season, but may need to bring out depth behind him. Cedric Sanches 2015-2016 2016-2017 Last season I had Sanches playing a central mid role that wasn't really perfect for him as he was a defensive liability and I finally think that it got exposed with all of the injuries to the back line. Mid season when I started moving towards the Executioner-style formation, I moved Sanches up to play a more natural role as a shadow striker. He's quickly becoming one of my most expensive players, so I may need to move him if the financial issues persist. Jonathan Ribadeira 2015-2016 2016-2017 Ended up bringing Ribadeira back for a decent contract. His rating was just too solid in the first season not to. He didn't quite match the production of his first season, but no one really did on this team and his still stood out over most of the team's. Kevin Le Targat 2015-2016 2016-2017 I finally made the move this season to make Le Targat feature in the starting eleven and he stepped up to the plate. He suffered a few injuries early, and was a yellow card monster, but when he was on the pitch, he played well. His rating numbers are slightly skewed as the 6'5" Frenchman is taking penalties for me, but he was a steady presence on a back line that featured 15 year olds more than I would have liked. His ratings increases and young age have me hopeful that he'll be a Sannois centerpiece for seasons to come. Jordan Betaz 2016-2017 Betaz was really a guy that I signed on a free transfer because of the injuries to my back line. I didn't have plans for him to do much other than keep the team afloat while the starters recovered, but he definitely went above and beyond with that and I honestly have no idea why. Looking at his stats, there's really nothing that stands out and explains why he would play at the level that he has been playing. He really was a bright spot on a team that didn't have many of them. Even with the poor finish, I don't see myself really turning much over with the team. I've got a lot of young talent in key places that have another year of experience under their belts. I probably need to find a bit more depth on my team, but with my financial projections becoming even worse, I'm not sure if that's a possibility. I forgot to take a picture of it, but the team's finances are really in trouble here. With the team's reputation, I'm drawing around 350 fans a game, not really making any revenue. I've lost about $2 mil total for the team since my arrival. I haven't played enough FM to really understand what will happen next. It should be interesting to find out if my team gets taken over by a rich consortium, or if I am going to get canned, or if they're going to ask me to slash my salaries in half. I really think that I need to get promoted in the next season or two or that this challenge is going to be over for me. Thanks for reading, feel free to let me know if you have any questions or suggestions, I'm fairly new to FM. PaulHartman71
Pau FC - Season 20: 2034/35 Ligue 1 We were third again this year. Appear to be closing in on Monaco in 2nd place though. First ever win of the Champions Trophy with our second ever win over PSG in all competitions. Got to the final of the Coupe de la Ligue again but couldn't get past Monaco. It went to penalties and was a nervy game but we managed to retain the French Cup. Very disappointing to go out at the group stage of the CL, thought i'd got a good draw and under-estimated Ajax who are managed by none other than Pep Guardiola. I thought we were out when we drew Juventus but they weren't actually that great and we managed to get all the way to the Semi Final, we actually won the first leg 2-0 thanks to a Jardin brace but then went and lost 3-0 in Munich to get knocked out. Got in Moses Njou who is a new CB, Coppo who is a DM and Bonacina who is a CM. Bonacina spent most of the season injured. Lopez was brought in when I was desperate for a new striker cause we had loads of injuries, got Lopez in on a BOSMAN then was able to buy him then and there and he was pretty good. Squad pt 1, Squad pt 2 Lopez was a great January addition, Moses was good at CB and a great year for Jardin. Finances Not sure how ****ed over I am by not making the knockout stage of the CL. Should look better when I get next years CL money through. Dunno how much transfer budget i'll have this summer though. duccio
Viktoria 1889 Berlin Lichterfelde-Tempelhof "Ich bin ein Berliner" I have had a couple of tries in this challenge this year, but lost interest in those saves - perhaps this one will have more longevity. I have taken over Viktoria 1889 which, being situated in the German capital Berlin, certainly is a change from the usual small town teams I have managed previously. There are two other Berlin clubs in the active German leagues, namely the rather famous Hertha Berlin and Union Berlin. Neither of them have been very successfull IRL or in the game so far (Hertha are in Bundesliga and Union in 2. Bundesliga), so my objective is to build Viktoria up to create a winning Berlin based team and make them number one in the capital and the whole country. Naturally without forgetting the continental competitions either. The current Viktoria Berlin is a result of a merger between Lichterfelder FC and BFC Viktoria 1889. Both of the older clubs have long histories with BFC Viktoria having the more prestigious one with 2 German league titles from 1908 and 1911. After the WWII hopes for top level success pretty much ended as Viktoria & co languished in the claustrophobic West Berlin while Hertha were selected to represent the enclave city in the new western Bundesliga. The wall is gone, so its time for Viktoria to rise from the depths. Viktoria 1889 Berlin Lichterfelde-Tempelhof draws its fans mostly from the south-western (Lichterfelde) and south-central (Tempelhof) parts of the city. From looking at pictures and reading on the net it seems that many areas of Lichterfelde (the location of Viktoria's stadium) and its surroundings are very upscale. Are people there interested in football? Maybe the charachter of the area is a plus because millionaire footballers will not have to travel far away from the club to live in mansions? Obviously this will not have been modelled into the game... Stadion Lichterfelde has a capacity of 4300, and in the game it can be expanded to 5000. Its not entirely beyond imagination to think that the stadium could be expanded more than that IRL. duccio
It took 14 games to get the first win of the season! Viktoria are last in the 3. Liga, but hopefully the form begins to improve as the squad gels and learns my tactics.

jpapciak
Sannois SG 2017/18 - Championnat National : End of Season Review History | General | Overview | Squad Information | Profile Season Info Transfers | League Table | Individual Players I really can't explain what happened this season. I wish I could point to some kind of tactical genius, or big transfer that I pulled in that really turned the tables for Sannois SG for this historic season for them, but I can't. Oddsmakers had me at 2000-1 odds to win the Championnat National and I was in line with their thought process. I brought back most of an underperforming team, added another striker and was resigned to seeing this challenge out before the board cut my wages in half and ruined any chances I had of getting out of the division anytime soon. Injuries played a big part in my downfall last season and I was more fortunate this season, especially on the back end. Maybe another year of the same group of guys playing together. Maybe we just started off hot and the spirit stuck with the team throughout the season, but it was a different team that I saw out there. Whether we were home or away, no matter where they were in the division, Sannois was the better team. They scored early and scored often and locked it down late. Drew eventual French Cup winners Stade Rennais FC in the 10th round and outplayed them in the first half, lost a man to a red card and ended up narrowly losing 1-0. My only concern was that the board kept cutting my wage budget by $200k every few months and was getting very frustrated that my wages were "out of control". It was truly a race against the clock to see if I'd get promoted or fired first. Here's a list of some of my key players: Benjamin Dana: 2015-2016 2016-2017 2017-2018 18 goals in his first season, dropped down to 8 goals his next season at Sannois, this was Benjamin Dana's coming out party. The 25 year old notched 26 goals in 34 appearances, added a few more assists. I think the addition of Badirou and a healthy defense contributed into taking the pressure off of him and just allowed him to play his game. Fantastic season for Dana. Unfortunately did not earn him any hardware, but from start to finish he was impressive. Bryan Labissiere : 2015-2016 2016-2017 2017-2018 I added a facepack cutout, so it's always fun to see what my players actually look like. Another solid season for Labissiere who is really proving himself to be quite the setup man for the guys up front. Have him playing as an Inside Forward on the left wing and he seems to play well there. Cedric Sanches : 2015-2016 2016-2017 2017-2018 Still somewhat in that awkward phase with Sanches. I have him playing as a box to box midfielder with a 4 tackling rating. He contributes quite a bit offensively and puts out good performances, but I just don't think he's right for the role I'm looking for him to play. Ended up using someone else at the shadow striker. He's still under contract until 2019, but I'm not so sure this upcoming season isn't his last at Sannois. Not performance based issues, just not the right fit for what I'm looking for out of that role. Jonathan Ribadeira : 2015-2016 2016-2017 2017-2018 Another solid season for the now vice captain. Didn't get him in the amount of games I wanted to because I had a rotating door of complaining mids, but when I could get him out there he was a great assist man for the guys up front. I'm on the fence if I'm looking to bring him back for another season. His technical skills aren't good enough for Ligue 2, and he's getting up there in age. With an increased budget and reputation, I feel that I might be able to land some guys who could replace him. Kevin Le Targat : 2015-2016 2016-2017 2017-2018 More solid play from Le Targat in his second season as being the full time center back. For whatever reason, he's the best penalty taker on the team, which explains his six goals. He is quite aggressive for being 6'5" and 165 lbs, but the commentary is regularly mentioning that he's dominating everything in the air, and with him around, I'm not getting beaten by too many crosses into the box. Look forward to keeping him around in Ligue 2 and seeing him progress along with the team. Jordan Betaz : 2016-2017 2017-2018 Really took his game to a new level this season playing a Full Back - Attack role. Only played in 18 matches in league play due to a broken leg mid season, but had the highest rating of anyone on the team. Nothing really stands out stat wise that might give reason for his success, but he's been consistently great for the team. With the asymetrical formation with a winger on the left, but not the right, Betaz has the whole wing to do as he pleases and has found an ability to really create back there. Ibrahima Gassama : 2016-2017 2017-2018 In 2015-2016 I brought in Gassama with hopes that he could be a goalkeeper I could rely on in the future. I had secured a loan for a veteran keeper from Paris FC who was playing fantastic and never really got Gassama any playing time. I didn't mention him in last season's review when I really probably should have. He had solid numbers for someone who didn't have many healthy bodies in front of him. It was also his first season as the #1. He definitely performed much better in his second season. The only issue I'm having with him currently is that he's just not holding on to the ball, as seen with his 5 rating. Giving up a lot of rebound goals. Working on training him with that. Abiola Badirou : 2017-2018 The only transfer that I made was bringing Badirou in to be the second striker with Dana. In the seasons before, I went with Moussa Koita, but he was already 32 when I took over Sannois, and his production dropped drastically. The Benin native really hit the ground running. Loads of physical stats (I laugh at the 1 rating for Bravery. He's going to find a spider on the pitch one day and request to be subbed off.) Didn't score as much as Dana, but set him up on quite a few. Nicolas Staerck : 2017-2018 Not really sure why I don't have his 2016-2017 stats, he didn't produce much, but was featured in 23 apps. Staerck really made the jump in this season moving to the shadow striker position learning to move into the channels created by Dana and Badirou. Went up from two gaols in 2016/17 to 11 in this past season and really seemed to benefit when opposing center backs would mark Dana and Badirou closely, he'd slide in and find himself with some room to work. These are really the type of seasons that get you hooked on Football Manager. You can finally see the progress on the field, knowing you've gotten the team headed in the right direction. Shortly after this, Sannois moved to Professional status, allowing me to hire new coaches. With the influx of money from winning the National and television rights in Ligue 2, they really opened up my transfer budget for 2018/19. With this, my reputation went up as well, I'm excited as I think I'll be able to start going after players who don't necessarily live in France and by offering them full time contracts. Thanks for reading, feel free to let me know if you have any questions or suggestions, I'm fairly new to FM. PaulHartman71
Pau FC - Season 21: 2035/36 Ligue 1 Our best ever season as we secured a second place finish for the first time. Still some way behind PSG though. It was a relatively disappointing season even with finishing 2nd though as we failed to win any trophies at all. A disappointing loss to PSG. We were kicked out at the semi final stage by a rampant PSG. Eliminated very early by Monaco. We came so close to getting out of a pretty tough group but ended up 3rd again. Another great Europa League run was ended in the final by Napoli again. We should have scored so many in the final and it could easily have been 5-4 to us. Moses left for £20M after just one season. Bjorn Danielsson came in as rotation LB/CB. Pedersen came in as back up CB and Prokoshin was brought in to replace Moses at CB. Sorensen came in as rotation ST and Borja was signed up a back-up GK. Squad pt 1, Squad pt 2 Prokoshin was good at CB, Dylan Gerard did well at CAM in his first full season. Jardin had an okay year, with Lopez finishing as top scorer. Finances Looking slightly healthier should get a relatively decent budget in the summer. duccio
Welcome back rlipscombe. I just began a new adventure here as well. Liga - 5th (Predicted 8th) Much better showing than during the previous season, and most importantly without any relegation scares. Towards the end of the campaign it looked for a moment like Viktorianer might have a chance to qualify for the 2. Bundesliga Playoff, but after a 2 month injury for the first choice keeper Bade, my club lost its form and finished the season in the 5th place. 4th place would have meant game(s) in the next season's DFB-Pokal, so finishing one spot higher would have been financially important. Danilo Wiebe - DC Wiebe has the most impressive attributes of my players though, as I play him as a defender, for example tackling could be better. I have him working on it, but it has had no big effect so far. Robin Reiter - DC Young tall central defender from Michael Schumacher's hometown Kerpen. Seems rather promising. Pascal Stenzel - MC Good all-around attributes. Julius Düker - ST Düker's previous season was a bit of a disappointment for me, but this time he scored 21 league goals and was Viktoria's top goal scorer. Dexter_Morgan
CS Sedan Ardennes 2015/16 History - Positions - Club Overview - Facilities - Manager Profile - Finances - Transfers Apologies in advance for what will probably be a long post It's been a few years since i've done this challenge (properly) and after struggling to get in to a game I finally decided to come back on here and pick France as it's been a few seasons since i've managed there too and I usually enjoy my saves there. Basically I wanted Sedan or Grenoble from the beginning and wasn't fussy which went up, only Sedan out of the pair were promoted which made the choice easier I had a problem straight away when they came up though as the board wanted me to sign mostly young players but the previous manager had already signed a bunch for the July which was beyond on my control so I only added another 2 (full transfer history) This is how the season panned out Fixtures 1 - Fixtures 2 - Fixtures 3 - Table In all honesty I didn't want to go up this year as the squad is aging and going against the "sign young players" philosophy, but the board gave me the leeway on that as I only made 2 signings and both were under 24 thankfully as opposed to previous versions where you'd get blamed for the previous managers mistakes. As I said I didn't want us to get promoted as for one at times we had really bad blips that stretched 4-6 games at a time which will certainly cost us in a higher division unless I get the transfers right. That said though our blips were pathetic and we should have won the title as we led it for a long part. If you clicked the fixtures, for our cup final you'll see that it wasn't the hardest run in the world, out of our 10 games we played 6 lower league sides and Nancy who were struggling at the bottom of Ligue 2. We beat Angers on penalties and did the same against Lorient. In the final against St. Etienne we gave it our best shot but they were too good for us. Unfortunately St. Etienne just missed out on 3rd spot which means we don't have a European spot (not that we'd be any good at this stage but the money for a round or 2 of the Europa would have come in handy) To keep in line with the board philosophies and the fact we are paying too much out in wages i've not renewed a single contract this summer, this of course means i've got a lot of scouting to do and could struggle next season but having 2 new contracts already and now the ability to scout all of Europe it gives me hope that if we keep in touch of the bottom sides then there'll be a chance of staying at the club even if we do go down. The next report should hopefully be shorter but I didn't expect a cup final or promotion Career Overview Season League Position French Cup Coupe de la Ligue Europe Other -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2015/16 National 2nd Finalists 1st Round N/A N/A

duccio
Duccio - Good luck in Germany. Love the idea of building a powerhouse in Berlin, so much untapped potential there. Thanks for the good luck wishes. I have read that some of the reasons why Hertha or any other team from Berlin have not become successful big clubs is because the city is not as wealthy as many of the western parts of Germany, and because the people who live in Berlin tend to be rather individualistic, and therefore not of the type to go and be enthusiastic about sports teams together with loads of other people. Undoubtedly there still is heaps of unrealized potential in Berlin, and I intend to take advantage of it.

Campaign - Season Three - 18/19 Fixtures | Competitions

<!--Season XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX--> 3. Liga - 1st (Predicted 4th) Viktorianer were predicted to finish 4th, but the top two media favourites were for some reason FC Bayern II and Schalke II who in the end were the last two teams in the division (and as II teams could not be promoted even if at the top of the table), so one could just as well think of Viktoria 1889 as being the second most favourite club to win the 3. Liga. The season was very exciting not only because of the very good results my team got, but because the league winner was decided on the very last day of it after a long head to head battle between Viktoria and Aue. Viktorianer had to win the last game to ensure the title, but I only could manage a draw - luckily at the same time Aue lost their match, so the Himmelblauen were promoted to the 2. Bundesliga as the 3. Liga champions! The next season will see three Berlin based teams in the 2. Bundesliga: Hertha who have been a midtable side at the level for the last few seasons, Union Berlin who have just been relegated there from the top level Bundesliga, and of course Viktoria 1889.

Team Transfers | Squad

<!--Team XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX--> Robin Reiter - DC Young defender Reiter has been developing quite nicely, and finished the season with a good 7.51 average. Rudolf Gonzalez Vass - DR Gonzalez Vass has been on loan at Viktoria for the past three seasons, and each time he has been the fans' player of the year. He had the best average in the team - 7.56. Lukas Boeder - MC My assistant thinks Boeder would be a good player for most Bundesliga sides. I'm not quite sure about that, but he is one of the best players at the Himmelblauen and looks like he can still improve. He will never be the most technical player though. Felix Hofmann - ST Young striker Hofmann is on loan from Frankfurt, and is a decent player who can still improve. Reasonably good attributes, but lacks pace and consistency. Julius Düker - ST Düker was again the best marksman in the team. 21 league goals.

Club Facilities | Finances

<!--Club XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX--> On average there were 1675 people watching Viktoria's 3. Liga matches, so naturally the stadium must be expanded to from 11500 to 15000. This is to fulfill 2. Bundesliga requirements, but is otherwise completely innecessary. The club had to take another loan to get the good old Owens and Family Construction to begin the building works, and now has a net debt of about £12M. The good thing is that the 2. Dexter_Morgan
PaulHartman71 - Cheers mate, as you know I've been following your thread over in the careers section and seen your progress but also how strong PSG are so looking forward to getting to Ligue 1 and seeing how I fare against them. Tecmo - Thanks Promotion was unexpected and the cup run was certainly something I thought would be possible but it's certainly helped us in a big way, certainly financially and now we are in Ligue 2 we are around £1M better off than last season which is good for our long term progression. duccio - Well done on promotion, with 3 Berlin sides in that division it'd be good to see if you can overtake the others

jpapciak
Sannois SG 2018/19 - Ligue 2 : End of Season Review History | General | Overview | Squad Information | Profile Season Info Transfers | League Table | Individual Players This was a big season for me. After three seasons in the National, we finally got up to League 2. My financial worries are gone thanks to television rights and just the amount of money brought in playing in Ligue 2. That's a huge relief for me. Brought in some faces this year. Some for depth and some to make a statement in Ligue 2 and I feel like I did that. Sannois was simply on fire for the first third of the season, we were at the top of the table for a few weeks. Cooled off slightly in the middle of the season, and then were terrible for the last month or two. Just had all kinds of injuries. I had the depth to not fall off the map, but just couldn't hang near the top of the table. My goal differential suggests that maybe I wasn't as good as my table setting suggests. Benjamin Dana: 2015-2016 2016-2017 2017-2018 2018-2019 Unfortunately, this was probably Dana's last season with Sannois. He suffered an injury, I brought in some new talent with exciting potential, and when he came back, he just never really seemed to get it going. I'll be finding a new 10 for next season. Bryan Labissiere : 2015-2016 2016-2017 2017-2018 2018-2019 Another good season for Labissiere. He was able to take his game to the next level with the jump to Ligue 2. He seems at home with the Inside Forward role. I played him one game at center midfield and I believe he managed to get a 5.2 rating, so I'll just leave him up there on the wing. Cedric Sanches : 2015-2016 2016-2017 2017-2018 2018-2019 As I mentioned in my last post with him, Sanches played well, but never really found a good spot for him. I think the lack of defensive play from my midfielders, and him in particular contributed greatly to the assault on my goalkeeper night in and night out. He'd play well at shadow striker, but I've brought in a player to fill that role for next season. This will be his last at Sannois. Jonathan Ribadeira : 2015-2016 2016-2017 2017-2018 2018-2019 Unfortunately this will be the end of Ribadeira's Sannois career. He struggled this season with the jump to the new league, and then pouted during the season that he wanted to be moved to a bigger club. His contract is expiring and I just won't be bringing him back. Kevin Le Targat : 2015-2016 2016-2017 2017-2018 2018-2019 Set a Sannois record for most fouls in a season. It's a trade off with Le Targat. I find myself telling him to calm down quite a bit during matches, and I'm subbing him out to have him avoid getting another yellow card, but I can't argue with his form when he is on the pitch. His tackling has gotten much better and I can see him playing out his career with Sannois. Jordan Betaz : 2016-2017 2017-2018 2018-2019 Another unreal season for Betaz with 5 PoMs. He really doesn't have anything statistics wise that would reason why he's playing so well but I can't argue with his production. I do have a good laugh every once in a while, he'll push far enough forward and cut inside, feel brave and take a shot on net and with that 4 Finishing rating, I've seen quite a few go 20' wide. Ibrahima Gassama : 2016-2017 2017-2018 2017-2018 A bunch of injuries on the back line and Gassama's handling rating created a scenario where Gassama was getting torched by Ligue 2. If I have one goal for this offseason it's to shore up defensive play in front of him, because he was stranded quite a bit back there. Abiola Badirou : 2017-2018 2018-2019 When Dana went down with injury early in the season, I panicked a bit. Was legitimately worried about falling hard with no true backup. Signed a few new pieces, but the guy who really stepped up was Badirou. Solid 18 goals in 28 starts. Love the physical stats on him, he's a tall strong guy up front who is wrecking Ligue 2 defenses. Tobias Badila : 2018-2019 With my captain Mendy last season turning 35 years old and declining stat-wise, I decided that with my newfound reputation and new financial options, that I'd make a splash in his replacement. Badila was excellent near the start of the season and was a good pair with Betaz on the other flank. Unfortunately he was gone for the African Cup of Nations for a month, and spent another month in the Physio. I didn't get to see as much from him as I had hoped. This should be an interesting offseason for me. The board has given me some budget to work with, and I've seen some players that I've brought from the National just haven't been able to cope in Ligue 2. I'm letting some of the guys who have been cornerstones of the team go on free transfers in the offseason and I'm looking to start making the push towards Ligue 1 with better talent. Thanks for reading, feel free to let me know if you have any questions or suggestions, I'm fairly new to FM. Dexter_Morgan
jpapciak - Good 1st season in Ligue 2 there I'm in January and we seem to be looking at finishing around the same position as you after falling behind the 3rd spot in recent months, I agree about the money too, it's been pretty easy to keep well in the black so far. Hopefully you can go for a promotion push at least this year
Dexter_Morgan
CS Sedan Ardennes 2016/17 Transfers - Fixtures 1 - Fixtures 2 - Fixtures 3 - Table - Cup Final 1 - Cup Final 2 - Hamdi - Midtsjo - Charpientier - Finances Delighted with our first season in Ligue 2, we started off really well and was looking a possibility for a top 3 finish for a while as we exceeded exceptions for the first few months. Then in all honesty the results started to take shape in a truer reflection of our ability and we tailed off often skipping between 6th and 10th place which I feel was about the right level for us given the signings. Midtsjo was by far the best addition to the squad, he has been immense since joining and being put in a roaming playmaker role contributing 5 goals and 6 assists and generally bossing the midfield and giving us a bit of creativity we needed. Obviously I am delighted with our French Cup win but i'm not kidding myself either, until we played Angers in the final we didn't play a single Ligue 1 side and we certainly had one of the luckiest sets of draws ever. That said we can only beat what was in front of us and went in to the final in good form whilst Angers were having a bad run towards the end of the year. Going 1-0 down though I did expect the worst and even with an equaliser we went down to 10 men so it was a shock for us to then race in to a 4-1 lead. Angers pulled a few back but they had left it too last and we will be in the Europa group which gives us a financial boost and at least cuts down the number of games we have to play. Transfers are pretty much done for next season already, 6 Bosmans in that improve the starting XI considerably and with any luck will help us have a push at promotion this season. Romanista1994
Season 18 Preseason Report Summer Transfer Window Transfers IN: Four foreigners and three young Turkish players came in, without a single cent spent on transfer fees. OUT: Several important players left, which saw us raise £19.6M in transfer fees. Pre-season Fixtures TFF Super Cup Lost 0-2 A bad loss, gifting Gala their 20th Super Cup. Current First Eleven GK: Alain Garita - Still some room to improve, meaning he could be a fantastic 'keeper for us. RB: Zekeriya Turan CB: Salvatore Melis - We had him on loan last year and he was signed as soon as I could offer him a contract. CB: İsmet Bolat LB: İdris Çelen DM: Yasin Kaya RM: Mesut Coşkun CM: Simon Menegazzo CM: Aser Pierrick Kouamou - A bit of a beast. LM: İhsan Erdil - The homegrown youngster has some Ronaldo-like characteristics, although he does seem to complain a lot. ST: André Müller - We needed a good new goalscorer with Konuk ageing. Don't be fooled by his low initial star rating, he's currently our top scorer.

Dexter_Morgan
CS Sedan Ardennes 2017/18 Fixtures 1 - Fixtures 2 - Table - Europa Group - Hendriks - Midtsjo Because of the amount going on i've decided to do a mid season report this time around. No more signings were made during pre season as our wage bill was too high even though we are desperate for at least 1 center half and a full back that doesn't get sent off 3/4 times in as many months so to be 3rd and top what was a tricky Europa group, especially if you count a fair few injuries on top of that. The highlights of the season have to be going to Spain and getting a draw with Sevilla, though it was disappointing to throw away a 2 goal lead there I guess i'd have took it at the start of play and then http://i.imgur.com/h97bI0z.png[/img]"]beating them at home in what was a real topsy turvy game (extra stats here). I didn't realise playing in Europe would cut out 2 French cup games and send us to the 4th round of the league cup too so playing in Europe hasn't really added much to our fixture list so far this season but after beating Toulouse in the league cup that puts us in the quarters of that for the first time and we have a tricky Europa tie against Southampton too as well as the French cup to contend with so the fixtures will probably be much tougher to get through in the final part of the season. It is a shame we've had a few stupid results in the league where we've lost or drew games we should have won as that would have given us a bit of breathing space so it is going to be touch and go for promotion I feel, but there has been a lot of positives that suggest we aren't too far away if we can just add a bit of depth to the squad. Romanista1994 - Cheers mate, been a while since I did this challenge so felt it was time to come back to it. Good luck for the new season
Dexter_Morgan
My season is done, will write the report tomorrow but i'll give a teaser and say we've had 3 good cup runs and a title challenge and another Europa League campaign next year
PaulHartman71
@Romanista - current stadium is 23,800 - so only around a 10,000 increase at the new ground. assuming/hoping there will be room to expand it though. I think the main reason for expansion is that only 17,000 is seated, so for games in the CL at Real Madrid for example, we only get 17,000, whilst in the league even against sides like Lens we easily get 23,500. Tecmo
2027/2028 Season Review Easily our best season yet with a 5th place finish but I can't help but be a bit disappointed with the end of the season. We pretty much got as close as you can to European play without reaching it. A late goal allowed to Galatasaray in our second to last game allowed them to get by us and then a late goal by Rizespor with 10 men broke a tiebreak that would have allowed us to finish ahead of Galatasaray. And Konyaspor grabbed the last Europa League spot by winning the Turkish Cup. League Table Fenerbahce and Genclerbirligi were the two teams we really struggled against, scoring 15 of the 47 goals we surrendered. On loan striker Bahattin Akbulut was our leading scorer with 20 goals along with 5 assists. We'll likely look to bring him back next year. Firat Sancar added 12 goals and 9 assists, Dario Capan 10 goals with 11 assists from the midfield, Joao Meneses scored 9, Hayrettin Sahin 8 goals and 9 assists, Dantinho 7 goals and 7 assists and our right fullback was tied for the team lead with 11 assists, with several on throw ins. Central defender Everton was an excellent addition, leading the Super League in aerial challenges and adding a high number of tackles and interceptions as well. Yavuz Ozcan continued to grow in goal for us, putting up 10 clean sheets in 38 games. Turkish Cup We had our best cup run yet, getting into the group stages with a 2-0 win over Saniyer and then we won 5 of 6 games in our group to win it. We then took out Kayseri Erciyesspor 2-0 and beat Bucaspor 2-1 on aggregate to advance to the semifinal where we faced Fenerbahce. This didn't go well, losing 3-2 at home and then getting destroyed 6-0 on the road. Youth Intake Still nothing coming in from the youth side. Our top recruit this season was Deniz Odabasi, who may be able to be a backup eventually and, sadly, is far better than anything we've brought in the last few years. We did just manage to upgrade our youth recruitment to fairly basic though. Finances Looking good, winning brings in good money. Next step, Europe. Upgrading the talent on the team is getting a bit difficult with the restrictions on the number of non-Turkish players. Thinking my main goal will be to find the best Turkish left fullback I can get my hands on. Really, any Turkish talent will be welcome.

PaulHartman71
PSG have had a mare this season after Brendan Rodgers retired in the summer. Ronny Deila's been poor in Ligue 1 and has seen PSG nowhere near the heights they have been. We've had an absolutely incredible league campaign so far, but unfortunately for us, Roberto Martinez has managed to guide Monaco to an even more incredible one as they sit above us comfortably on goal difference. They've not seemed like dropping points for weeks, but we got a massive 2-1 win against them at home in the penultimate game of the season (thanks partially to them being knackered from their midweek CL semi against Bayern Munich) which has now set up a grand-slam finish. We have a very winnable home tie against 11th place Havre who have nothing to play for, whilst Monaco must go away to Lyon who themselves have to win if they are to ensure themselves a place in the Champions League next season. It's really interesting because the top 4 teams will all get CL football this season. Nantes are at home to bottom place and already down SM Caen, so you'd back them to win that. PSG are at home to 8th place LEMANS FC, with the way they've been playing this season there's no guarantee they win that. Then Lyon of course have the Monaco game. Though there's more for Lyon and PSG. Lyon are in the Europa League final and so they could secure CL football if they win that. And then PSG are in the Champions League final, so they could secure CL football by winning that, their opponent? None other than Monaco. Hoping against hope that Lyon can get something at home to Monaco and we can have a Pau FC/Vincent Jardin equivalent of the Man City/Sergio Aguero title win Gonna be a stressful game that's for sure! PaulHartman71
As soon as Lyon scored that penalty to put themselves 2-0 up I took off my two relatively attack minded central midfielders in favour of two much more defense minded ones and parked that contain bus Mourinho style \o/ \o/ \o/ Now just the small matter of a French Cup final against Stade Rennais to try and secure a historic double!
