It's basically the screen and the computer are combined into one unit. Desktop is your next option - however, this is a unit that will sit on your desk. You would also need to buy a monitor to go with it - and plug it into the desktop. A laptop can fold up - it's portable. That's really the three options. Desktop gives best value for money - but you would need a dedicated place for it in the house/apartment/where you live. All in one would be similar, dedicated place for it. Laptop, you can move around easily enough. I wouldn't recommend any of them. 300 is pretty low - are you sure that's your budget? Haha cheers mate, im aware of what a desktop PC and Laptop is. Perhaps saying I don't have the first clue was the wrong thing to say. What would you recommend a desktop PC or an all in one? If a desktop do you recommend any in particular? You may want to send them the DX Diag and see if they have any updates in their archives. They could also recommend any upgrades that are possible. It's such an old computer - it's 2011 - it's probably end of life (EOL). And EOL just means that parts for it are no longer supported or perhaps even in manufacturing or supply any more. Hembrough747
Hi Smurf, ive managed to up my budget to around 475. I’m looking for a laptop that plays fm -doesn’t need to play any other games really. I’ve found this myself: https://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/refurbished-medion-erazer-p6679-core-i5-7200u-8gb-1tb-geforce-gtx-950-15.6-a1-30023186/version.asp Would this be a good choice for my budget? I’m concerned about the battery life as I think it’s only around 3 hours and I like to play for longer than that! The other one I’ve found is this one: the processor is better I think and so is the battery life. If this would handle 3d (at low to mid level) that might suit me more. https://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/hp-250-core-i7-7500u-8gb-256gb-ssd-15.6-inch-windows-10-laptop-2sy44es/version.asp The laptop just needs to be able to play FM as well as possible (for the budget) and perform simple Microsoft word tasks etc. I would like it to also be as fast as possible (for that budget). I recognise the budget is somewhat limiting but thought I’d see what you can come up with! Thsnks, Ollie Edited July 30, 2019 by Hembrough747

rabcp
Looking for a bit of advice, I'm having to replace my laptop and have a budget of £700 at the most. I only use a laptop for FM and making graphics for FM in photoshop, typically GIF files for video adboards (which can be around 20 seconds long and upto 80Mb in size). In regards to FM I play in the 3D match engine and look to have the top leagues in at least 6 nations in a save, typically my saves rarely pass 4 seasons. I also travel a lot so a sturdy laptop is essential as in the past I have had problems with the screen hinges breaking. I have looked into the 4 laptops below, would anyone be able to recommend one of the 4 or something more suitable within my budget? https://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/FX504GD-E4127-ASUS-TUF-Gaming-FX504GD-E4127_2571126.html https://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/4CK41EAABU-HP-Pavilion-17-ab405na_2354467.html https://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/NH.Q3REK.008-Acer-Nitro-5-AN515-42-R8H1_2424521.html https://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/FX504GD-E4603T-ASUS-FX504GD-E4603T_2354095.html

shaunwwfc
I am a little bit in love with this and considering buying https://www.amazon.co.uk/HUAWEI-MateBook-13-Inch-Laptop-FullView/dp/B07KCJGGW3/ref=sr_1_6?crid=2F8BFY3A88ATG&keywords=huawei%2Bnotebook&qid=1565208026&s=gateway&sprefix=hauwei%2Bnote%2Caps%2C166&sr=8-6&th=1 At that price though, a pre-requisite would be being able to run FM very well? I am considering the 8GB option too as wondering if 16GB is overkill.

You're pretty much mostly paying for the size with that laptop. For example: https://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk/system/Ready-To-Ship-Tracer-RTX-15-Slim-SY222 - That has a better processor, top quality graphics card that'll easily deal with any game out now, 16GB RAM, and a bigger screen. willstannard
Hi Smurf, Sorry to ask but I couldn’t find anything in this thread which specifically addresses what I’m looking for, and I know very little about laptops. Basically I want something around the £500 mark, and the single most important thing to me is that the 3D match engine runs smoothly. I don’t mind average/lower resolution but lag just ruins it for me. I would give or take 50-maybe 100 pounds but I’d prefer to keep it cheapish. Really appreciate any help as I just had a bit of an ordeal with a Meridian Erazer which I ended up returning because of laggg. Thanks!

Thanks in advance. One is 15 inch the other is 17 inch which do you prefer? One has a SSD with 256gb storage (not a lot) the other has 1000gb storage (which is a lot). Which do you prefer. 16 hours ago, willstannard said: Hi Smurf, Sorry to ask but I couldn’t find anything in this thread which specifically addresses what I’m looking for, and I know very little about laptops. DGMGandy
I was talking to my younger brother tonight and now considering buying him a rig for his birthday/Christmas. I'm looking to spend about $600 AUD but not completely sure if I can find value for what he wants within that budget. He wants to run Adobe to edit videos for school, and use it to edit/upload his Fortnite videos. I'd also say some medium/heavy gaming too.http://www.comwiz.net.au/#systems - These are a little out of my price range, I don't like him THAT much, though I have used them before and quite liked the rig I bought off them eight or so years ago (since replaced). Most computers can run a large database - it relies on a few things: 1) How many seasons you play 1-5 may be ok - but 10+ or 20+ seasons might be taxing. 2) If you have leagues loaded, or just in the background 3) How fast is acceptable for you, for some 1 week for a season is fast, for some it's too slow. 3 hours ago, DGMGandy said: I was talking to my younger brother tonight and now considering buying him a rig for his birthday/Christmas. The cheapest one on that page is $1000+ and your budget is $600? Can you point to other laptop/electrical/online stores in your area? 3 hours ago, fullylove007 said: Looking for some help finally buying a new laptop as my current one is getting a bit slow, will use new laptop for general use and of course football manager my budget is £400 to £500. fullylove007
Found this any good for FM and future versions https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/acer-aspire-3-a315-54-15-6-intel-core-i5-laptop-1-tb-hdd-black-10193933-pdt.html?istCompanyId=bec25c7e-cbcd-460d-81d5-a25372d2e3d7&istFeedId=4d7eb93e-055f-499d-8ee5-1cdcc50d67d1&istItemId=itlxpiawi&istBid=tztx&srcid=198&cmpid=ppc~gg~1011+(PLA)+Windows+Laptops+and+Convertibles+-+Adaptive~1011+(PLA)+Windows+Laptops+And+Convertibles+ad+group~Exact&mctag=gg_goog_7904&kwid=GOOGLE&device=m&ds_kids=92700027234655884&tgtid=1011+(PLA)+Windows+Laptops+and+Convertibles+-+Adaptive&gclsrc=aw.ds&&&gclid=Cj0KCQjws7TqBRDgARIsAAHLHP4MwXVJb8QaRQS4CykFcY6RRO0O1dGvRmVon-GLj9I7gitVZrlaxxEaApUSEALw_wcB
bigmattb28
I'm town on what to get out of these 2. Which out of these 2 would you recommend? I'm not too clued up on Ryzen processors, is the Ryzen 5 3350H better than an i7-8750H? https://www.johnlewis.com/asus-tuf-fx505dt-al153t-gaming-laptop-amd-ryzen-5-processor-8gb-ram-256gb-ssd-geforce-gtx-1650-15-6-full-hd-gun-metal/p4243515 https://www.box.co.uk/5WA67EAABU-HP-Pavilion-Gaming-15-cx0018na_2453614.html Thanks in advance for your help

It has a better processor for FM (which is very much a single core heavy game, rather than multi-core, and the i7 is a faster processor anyway), more RAM, more storage space overall, and a better graphics card. Performance-wise, the HP laptop you linked to is just better than the ASUS John Lewis laptop, no question.
akimyst
Hi Smurf, Downgrading myself with a small budget, max £450 (cheaper the better, would prefer £350-400). Must be a 13-14” screen but will only be using for FM (sparingly) and O365. Have been erm looking at a few and not sure, advice please. https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/hp-pavilion-14-ce1508sa-14-intel-core-i3-laptop-128-gb-ssd-burgundy-10188777-pdt.html https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/lenovo-ideapad-c340-14-intel-pentium-laptop-128-gb-ssd-blue-10193437-pdt.html or could I get a 4gb cheaper machine, like a Acer swift 3 and upgrade the RAM or would that not work as well? Not too fussed about graphics and I’d use an external HD for storage if needed. Thanks, Edited August 9, 2019 by akimyst
