MeLikeFM
so whats the story with your tactic, one striker scores and the other drops-off or is Smylie just that much better
NepentheZ
Smylie takes Pens and Free Kicks, which probably gets him about 25-30 goals. Aside from that, I've ALWAYS found in FM games (and CM games) that the left hand side striker scores more. So I play him there. The 2 players that played in the RS position last season, managed 80 goals between them. So they're not THAT far off smylie. Its almost possible, I can get 2 players to score 100+ goals in a season. The right striker is more defensive, hence the mass amount of assists they pick up, but not so much so that Smylie gets ALL of the chances. He just converts a lot more than the other strikers. I've never seen anything like YP1 before though. Not even Smylie. And I genuinely believe, even along side Smylie, he'll hit 1,000 goals, AND 1,000 assists. When he matures into his attributes, and starts taking his chances like Smylie does with his, he'll be a contender for the Top Goal Scorer in the team. hasdgfas
I haven't done anything with this in a while, but I have had one of my academy players break into my first team. Michael Moody. Took until he turned 21 last season, but he's been playing somewhat consistently since last season, and is starting to pile up assists.

NepentheZ
I use a pretty basic 4-4-2, with each individual setting customized to the player. This is FM08, don't forget, in what is arguably an easier tactical game than FM09

PaulHartman71
PH71'S RW Essen Youth Products Project 1, Rainer Walter - ST Initial Profile Summary - My first of many German projects. He's predicted to become a leading third division striker, whilst we'll almost certainly not be in the German third division when he's in his prime, perhaps he'll find success at a third division club in the future. If it is unclear why I've double posted, then what I'm doing is making sure in future updates when I have 10/11 YP's I'm giving each YP there own post, and each year I'll edit that individual post and provide a link to the original post of the player which will have all of his updated stats. In the actual post each year I'll show just their stats for that particular year and the link to his original post, which will have his entire history in it. Sorry if it's confusing, but it's a simple concept and will work.
GreyedOutMan
Linfield's Youth Revolution I have started a new project with Linfield of Northern Ireland, with the aim of posting in here but also trying to get a post in the 1000+ appearances thread. Not having a huge amount of success in terms of the team so far (those of you who have followed me before will know I'm not great at FM but find regen development fascinating). However, I think my very first regen might just make it to the 1000 mark, if things go well. However, it takes SO long to do screenshots that i've decided not to post hundreds and hundreds. I also wont stick to the usual "just at the end of each season" format, but post whenever I have time/have something interesting to say. Probably expect posts at the end of most seasons, but not all, and some shorter posts in mid-season sometimes. One of my regens is doing quite well as I mentioned, and has made it to the 100 apps mark at the age of just 18... this code shows all their total stats so far - including loan spells (so far not many appearances though Doyle made two appearances for Crumlin Star, my affiliates). Tracey is looking promising though, some decent performances in pre-season (when the 2nd XI were playing competitively). Incidentally, sorry for the lack of initial profiles - i wanted to check whether Linfield was going to be any fun before posting, as I didnt want to start an experiment and not get far. But i think this one has legs - plenty of competitions, so plenty of challenges!

Especially in our epic cup run, scoring in both penalty shoot-outs, against Bielfield where he scored the deciding penalty, and against Schalke. And also, THIS was epic :*****). Wasn't his debut or anything, but he hadn't scored in the previous 8 or 9 games he'd played, he'd hardly had any shots either. - Project 2 - Angel Metzger, ST Initial Profile Summary - Another Striker. GreyedOutMan
Hey guys - my lack of FM prowess has unfortunately put a premature posto my Linfield project - the game has just got very dull. I'm having a couple of good cup runs but 3rd in the league and miles behind the leaders. Might return to it. Junior Doyle has made a big breakthrough this year...but for now I'm going to start a new one - I'm currently holidaying the first season with Manchester City. Its with a database which is up to date with transfers (including the fees paid being edited into club bank balances) up to and including a few days ago (Gabriel Obertan's transfer to United is probably the most recent transfer in it). So City have Barry/Santa Cruz etc. I played up till September of season one and made some big signings in Oscar Cardozo, Luisao and Alessandro Gamberini, for a combined £32m. So far we have a 100% record with the exception of one Europa League leg, which was 0-0 but we won the 2nd leg. In fact, we're on October 13th and so far have only conceded 3 goals in all competitions. A 3-0 win on opening day at Emirates Stadium was a highlight (although for me it was bittersweet, given my real life allegiances!). 5 league wins from 5 mean that we're sitting in 4th but with two games in hand over the rest of the league (apart from Man Utd and Hull, the two teams we should have played by now). Robinho has been a star with 7 goals from 8, and of all the players who have started for us this season, only Martin Petrov, who has since left on loan thanks to my AssMan, has an AvR of under 7. GreyedOutMan
Linfield – Postponement Post This will be the last post of my Linfield save for a while – as mentioned above it has got rather dull. The last season was holidayed for the last couple of months. This resulted in a very promising 2nd half of the season as my AssMan outperformed me significantly. We ended up 3rd, level on points with Glenavon in 2nd but a massive 27 points behind Glentoran who were only beaten once all season. The cups, however were a different story, as Linfield took both the Northern Irish Cup and the Northern Irish League Cup, as well as reaching the Quarter-Final of the Antrim Cup. The season also saw a huge leap in the club’s finances, the balance almost doubling to above £2m. Despite this, the board still indicated that a lack of funds meant that they couldn’t consider expanding the youth facilities, which would be useful! Oh well. The Young Players – Each with TOTAL career stats. Junior Doyle Not a bad season, but he’s not improving as much as I’d like. GreyedOutMan
LINFIELD – SEASON 2011/12 Keith Tracey – Summer 2012 Update. Improvement in terms of clean sheet ratio and goals conceded, accompanied by a much less marked improvement in AvR. Blighted by injury this season. GreyedOutMan
LINFIELD – SEASON 2011/12 David Mullan – Summer 2012 Update. The best debut season so far by MILES. He narrowly missed out on an AvR of 7.00 – and earlier in the season it was close to the mid-7’s. He’s going to be a great player, and hopefully I’ll hold on to him for a few years yet. Sending off was a shame and that combined with a couple of injuries and the good form of his back-up means he has only managed 37 appearances, which isn’t a lot by Northern Irish standards. But hopefully next year he can push on. GreyedOutMan
LINFIELD – SEASON 2011/12 I’ll now give you a summary of the various events/stats etc of the summer, with screenshots for the important ones for my YPs. **Some good news for Junior Doyle as he is named 3rd in the Young Player of the Year for 2011-12. **A Linfield player (Mark Magennis) also won the Senior Player of the Season Award, and another (Mark Miskimmon) finished 2nd in the Top Goalscorer competition with 24 goals in the league. He scored 34 overall. **Mark Miskimmon was also voted player of the year by Linfield’s fans. **The best XI for 2011/12 included every single YP project. The inclusions of Thomas O’Neil (the brackets afterwards indicate the year he came through the academy – he isn’t a YP) and Declan Brannigan are a bit of an anomaly as my reserve team play some competitive cup games which is why they have been included despite never playing for my first team this season (though I think Brannigan did make a couple of appearances off the bench). **And four players were inducted into the all-time best XI, although no new YPs were. Another anomaly here i notice - because according to that, Doyle has played 205 games, but if you add up all his appearances throughout every season, they definitely only add up to 192. Where have the extra 13 games come from? And finally.... The new YP is... GLENN MALONE This is his initial profile Looks a good prospect, and good timing seeing as the failed Miskelly is probably moving on now.
