Red Horizon
I want to manage a South American team with the aim of one day winning a trophy I've never won - the copa libertadores. Any ideas one what would be a good save? Atletico nacional is one idea, bring the Pablo escobar days back.
kevhamster
Perhaps Club Atlético Independiente from Argentina? Most successful team in the history of the competition with 7 total wins, but not won it since 1984. Edited October 20, 2020 by kevhamster
bielsadidnothingwrong
Argentina off the top of my head: Easy: Boca or River Plate, the two juggernauts, already libertadores qualified medium a: san lorenzo, racing club, velez, arenginto jrs all have decent funds and IIRC are already qualified medium b: newell's old boys, talleres, lanus, hurucan are already in top flight but aren't qualified hard: nueva chicago or belgrano, the two clubs with the best facilities in the 2nd tier, get them into the top league and qualify yourself
latrell
Try Colo Colo from Chile i have had some great times managing them.
Peter Morgan
Ponte Preta! The oldest (playable) club in Brazil. Formed in 1900 they have only 1 FM recognised trophy in their cabinet. You start in Serie B so you would need to build the club up too.
autohoratio
I like playing with teams who have unique names, so perhaps Chaco For Ever in Argentina's third tier (I think you'd need a database addon as iirc the default database only goes down to the 2nd tier) would be up your alley if you want a hard challenge. Brother Ben
Personally I would get Tonao's American expansion pack and start in one of Brazil's lesser known state leagues in the north west maybe and earn the right to play in the league system properly. You could maybe do a journeman and see how many of the 26 (27?) states you can get through
ajt
I had a really fun save with millionarios in Colombia, though I sadly only managed to get to the semis iirc. Uruguay could also be great I imagine, maybe Defensor sporting. They don't have the best squad but do have fabulous youth facilities.
Colorado
Uruguay is a brilliant league to play in for FM. Unique calendar, lots of good young players and elements of a lower league-esque challenge.
