That's the 34 man preliminary squad

Jorginho and Emerson are missing because of CL final.

That scrub Romagnoli isn't even on 34 man list.

Darmian or Calabria deserved a spot. Lazzari, Di Lorenzo and Florenzi are all attack oritented RBs.

It's going to be sad when Bonucci-Chiellini duo starts.

Calabria deserved to be in there but his absence isn't going to make a difference. Just would have been nice to see his quality season recognised.

Romagnoli should be there too. He's better than Toloi. And Acerbi. And Mancini.

It's not like Toloi is making it to the final list.

It's 36 with Joriginho and Emerson, I'd guess that these 10 names will be out for the final list:

Biraghi, Toloi, Acerbi (or Mancini), Di Lorenzo, Cristante, Raspadori, Grifo, Pessina.

That's 8.

Then it gets interesting in attack.

I think Bernardeschi has had an awful season and absolutely doesn't deserve to be in the final squad, but he'll probably get called up.

Politano has been decent, but he'll probably be out.

And one of Berardi/Kean. Probably Berardi. Although I'd rather have Berardi than Bernardeschi. There's enough quality in midfield, so Bernardeschi is only a winger in this situation and Berardi is way better, even in that role.

Bit embarrassing for him now. He's 43 and hasn't played for the NT since 2018.

Bow out gracefully Gigi.

Italians and bowing out gracefully?

Wrong nation, mate.

You're going to watch 37 year old Chiellini get exposed.

What's Italy's possible lineup?

Donnarumma is obviously the #1 choice.

Midfield is also almost guaranteed. Barella-Jorginho-Verratti.

Belotti or Immobile up front.

Chiesa and Insignie on the wings would be my choice, but Mancini often used Pellegrini there, even though he's a midfield playmaker, not a winger.

Defense is the biggest issue and question mark.

Bastoni had by far the best season out of all CBs and he's left-footed, so he should start. But we might see what's left of Chiellini, as is Italian tradition to play all-time greats way past their expiry date.
Bonucci has been nothing short of atrocious this season, but he probably takes the right CB spot.

Fullbacks are even bigger question mark. Florenzi probably starts on the right and Emerson on the left.
Spinazzola always struggles with staying healthy. We might even see Bastoni on LB, I wouldn't put that out of question.

Donnarumma; Florenzi, Bonucci, Chiellini/Acerbi, Emerson; Barella, Jorginho, Verratti; Chiesa, Immobile, Insigne

Will be Italy's lineup. Only uncertainty is Emerson. He would normally start but he's played basically no football so Mancini might be forced to go for Spinazzola on grounds of match sharpness. It might depend on how well Emerson does in warmup games.

It's georginho. :D

Btw, they're at the topic of Italian squad at BoboTV.

While we're at it, change the topic title.

Is the front three locked in as Chiesa - Immobile - Insigne?

Immobile and Insignie have always had questionable performances for Italy.

Belotti-Immobile is 50-50, Insignie will probably start, but Mancini might use Pellegrini there.

Could make a case for Berardi on the right. And yes, Insigne and Immobile haven't exactly instilled confidence with past NT performances.

Insigne is a guarantee. I think he prefers Immobile over Belotti. Realistically both are ****, Belotti has a slightly better record for Italy but he's scored against a lot of weak teams.

He'll go with Immobile because of how many he's scored in Serie A.

Berardi has been pretty good when he's played, but Chiesa ended the season well and I think he'll start the first game. If he sucks in the first two games, Berardi might take his place

Berardi is supposedly going to start the final warmup game tonight. Still time to change that fantasy team Baptista, if you picked Chiesa.

Cheers. I did indeed pick Chiesa. Will have a rethink

Belated reply, but Chielini was past his expiration date in 2018, if not 2014.

Berardi should have controlled the ball, shot, and scored.

Or Mancini should have brought Chiesa on earlier.

Italy played 30 minutes longer than necessary and had to recover longer. Fortunately, it's Mancini and not Conte. If the latter were still in charge, the quarter final would be full of injuries again, and it would be an earlier vacation.

Injuries aside he was still at very good level

He's extremely slow nowdays. There's no way you win a single game against top teams with both him and Bonucci (or Acerbi) as CB pairing.

I really want to see Belgium-Italy. Chiellini looked like a helpless child against Lukaku in the last game. :D

He's, specially because of the last really bad injury he had. But no one can say he was completely finished in 2018, let alone 2014
That said Lukaku nowadays is one of the most difficult strikers to mark and not being able to do it for a 90minutes match doesn't make you a **** :D
Anyways for the left side there is Bastoni and let's hope he will keep progressing as he has been doing until now
