Novafluff
Season 2025/26 We started of kinda shaky with a draw and a loss but after that we really hit the road running we replaced 3 out of 4 starting defenders as well as our keeper and it really got us results. only conceding 11 goals while still maintaining an decent offensive. We won 11 straight games and then lost the last one to BRG B which seemed to have brought in some talent for the playoffs. We went in to the playoffs which a great morale but we got absolutely trashed against BRG B in the first match with a 1-4 loss which made me think that we would have to fight for the second spot as they seemed amazingly good for our level, I think they got some good players sent from the A team. But after this game we really showed class as we only conceded 2 goals in the coming 8 games while scoring 11 we eneded up gonig undefeated until last game that we lost when trying out a new tactic since we already had secured promotion. Club is turning professional next season and looking forward into taking a big step squad wise. We recovered a bit financially even though we upgraded JC and YR this season. Next season we are hoping on getting a lot more money coming in from playing a tier higher but of course turning professional will have a lot more costs as well. We will need to keep a close eye on our finances and make sure we take the right steps as a club. The youth intake was improved but still far from producing something we will really use, one player got contracted but i don't think he will be used. If our finances looks better during the season i will make sure to make room for youth improvments.
OlivierL
Africanos Bragança - Portugal - Youth Intake - Class 2030 Preview A good intake attribute wise. I needed a top GK prospect and could do with a good striker.. i think i got them both ! Personality wise this wasn't a good intake . Gomes 30A has the highest potential but his personality is a problem. Varela 30B has the highest CA and could get into the first team next season. Our two best options are my future goalkeeper Lopes 30F , he is good and tall enough and has a good personality. I hope he'll also become Cape Verde's keeper. Miranda 30C is a great target forward that lacks a good personality. He will be my first option next season . I'll sign 13 of this intake. After 8 intakes we got a new nationality, Russia ! After a great season and especially a very strong second round with many wins, we were certain of the second place and so automatically promotion. It became exciting though after a serious injury to season revelation Varela 28D. He became our assist king but I had to miss him the last few months. Taça de Portugal: Lost in the second round against a lower league team. Taça De Liga - Allianz Cup: We beated Boavista after penalties but lost in the next round against Belenenses SAD . U19 : Our U19 finished 1st in the second tier and got promoted after a third place spot in the promotion stage. Back to the first U19 tier ! Key Players And again Graça and Pereira as our two key players. Academy graduate with most Appearances (This season) Our new leftback Dos Santos 29D had an average season but got the most minutes as an academy player. Miscellaneous & Finances No upgrades this season. After our promotion we needed to rent the stadium from our rivals Bragança , because you need a stadium with 5000 seats. Finances are dark red.. We received some cash from the board but we need a few seasons in the 1st tier to get that TV Money and get a positive balance. Aim for next season The third promotion came very quickly and I doubt my squad will make it in Liga Portugal BWIN but hopefully in time it will help us become financially healthier and finally upgrade some facilities. I can keep the whole squad together and there will be two or three talents coming through from the last intake. surviving the next three seasons is all that matters now Cape Verde Watch National Team | U23 Squad | U20 Squad Cape Verde reached the Fifa World Cup group stage, i'll post the results in the next update. OlivierL
Another thing that i didn't think about is that when you get players playing for the senior team of Cape Verde, they won't be available during the AFCON , every two years Did u had issues with that @XaW ? Joy_in_Leeuwarden
Start of 2026/27 Season I am very envious seeing @OlivierL in the top flight, whilst I'm still in the third tier. I just don't have the computer nor the free time to go at that pace! In fact, this is the quickest I've played FM in over a decade. What I would like to skip ahead to is the bit where we can finally beat Salgueiros. I was annoyed when they lost the playoff final last season as they are clearly too good for this level. And, sure enough, there they are, top of the tree again, and the only team who've beaten us. Clearly, our issue is not that one loss but the fact that we have drawn too many games. However, the opening set of fixtures was quite tricky and eventually we started to click. I am fully expecting reaching the playoff stage once more. Also, we've actually won some cup games! Liga 2 Chaves await us in the next round. Ailing finances meant that I could not bring in too many new players this summer after three years of upheaval, but one new player who might make the difference is my poacher, Paulinho, who is on a whopping £775 per week! He's especially needed as star man Jordan van der Gaag fractured his ribs and is out for seven weeks - we don't have much depth, so that makes us a much worse team. OlivierL
Africanos Bragança - Portugal - Youth Intake - Class 2031 Preview Not a bad intake , we don't get any 40% player but average wise it is a good one. With a new potential first team striker and a fullback. And we got our first model citizen. After 8 seasons we changed our hoyd. Good old China was replaced by model.cit Sobral Semedo 31N is our Model citizen DMC and has the biggest CA. Dias 31B could become a good midfielder and Lopes 31E has some potential for the fullback position. Romario Moreira 31A has the biggest PA and he could become our best pressing forward. On the last match day we were two points ahead of Vizela , they had to face Braga at home and we had to face Porto. I knew I wasn't going to win... we lost by 6 0 but Vizela didn't win , so we stay in the BWIN for another year! This is really a miracle with this squad and I don't know if I can do it again next year. Varela 28D had a great season with 9 goals and 12 assits. Our best academy player Veiga 27G finally signed a new contract (unfortunately with a very low release clause) . Miranda 30C was the youngest player ever in the BWin and also youngest goal scorer. And do you remember Evora 25J , the player who didn't want to talk anymore and left for free a few seasons ago ? after three seasons of searching for a club he retired . it's a shame ! Taça de Portugal: Lost in the 5th round against Famalicao . Taça De Liga - Allianz Cup: We beated Vizela and Moreinense to finish last in the group stage. U23: First season for our U23 and they finished last with only 2 points. No relegation. U19: Our U19 finished 10th in the first tier and managed to stay up after finishing 4th in the relegation playoffs. Key Players For the first time , not one but two Academy players as key players . Lopes 30F had a very good first season as first choice goalkeeper and Antunes 29A had a good season as second best central defender. Academy graduate with most Appearances (This season) Veiga 27G is our best player and played the most minutes. Miscellaneous & Finances New kits for our first season in the BWIN. We got Betano as shirtsponsor, they were already kitsponsor for Benfica, Sporting , Braga and many more. In real life they almost were the main sponsor for the Portugese first division : BWIN will be the main sponsor of the Portuguese League while BETANO threatens legal action ( We received a U23 team. They will play in the U23 Liga Revelaçao . We also got our first affiliated club , a team near Lisbon. We received 3M TV money + 2.4M sponsorship money and had a much higher attendance in our rented stadion so our Finances are looking much better now. After receiving our sponsorship money, we are healthy again and we got two upgrades.. Junior coaching only the second upgrade since season 2. Aim for next season I am satisfied with our progression. an U23 team, a first partnership, financially healthier, some upgrades ! Hopefully I can survive a few more years and then take the next steps. In the short term I hope to do some upgrades and keep the better players for two, three years till i get some new good prospects. Novafluff
Season 2026/27 First year in the 3rd tier and we have a good season overall. After upgrading the squad quite a lot we had a good season in the first stage which saw us finishing 2nd so we got to the promotion stage in our first year. Here we didn't manage to find our goal scoring form at all and finished 3rd which meant the season was over for us and we will give it another try next season. But the big surprise that really saved our economy somewhat was our amazing run in the cup where we managed to get all the way to the semi final where Sporting were to much and we lost 3-0 over two legs to them. But getting here beating both Benfica and Estoril from the 1st tier on the way really helped our average attendance and the away game to sporting in the semifinal gave us around £150k which was really needed. No youths that is worth mentioning came through and will still be some seasons before i really start reporting on them.
Joy_in_Leeuwarden
We're in the promotion playoffs again after putting together a really good run of form. This is really impressive given the quality of opposition - in comparison to their northern counterparts, the winners of Liga 3 south got 36 points! We managed to knock Chaves out of the cup to earn the right to an away game at a top flight club. Unfortunately that club was minnows Gil Vicente, but valuable experience all the same. We qualified for the playoffs with three games to go and then managed to avoid defeat at Salgueiros despite fielding a weaker team than usual and in the final fixture dismantled Sporting Braga B. We then drew Sporting Braga B, Sporting Covilhã and Olhanense in the playoff group, which is a really nice outcome since we got more points than all of them in the regular season. We should really capitalise on this fortunate draw. I'm terrified!

Fastbasher
I've been plodding through this on FM20. Partly because I like quirky saves and partly so I'd have a team to cheer for in AFCON. Anyway, something weird happened and I was wondering if any of you had a similar experience. We qualified for the Olympics and were handed a the softest of the three groups. Remember you name an 18 man squad and only 3 players can be older than 23 for this competition. Lost 1-4 to Spain then won 5-0 against Trinidad and Tobago. We only needed a draw against Saudi Arabia to qualify for the quarter finals. Then two of our U23 centrebacks retired right in the middle of the Olympics. I was unable to call up a replacement and had to go with a 16 man squad and only 1 CB. Surely they could wait until their Olympics were over before dropping out of football entirely. For the record, we beat Saudi Arabia 2-1, then lost 1-3 to Belgium in the QF. Joy_in_Leeuwarden
Great stuff. Winning the Olympics would be on a par with winning the World Cup just for how rare it is. Joy_in_Leeuwarden
Season 5: 2026/27 League: Spoiler Fixtures: Spoiler This season seemed a real slow-burner, but looking back that was mostly because we opened it with three draws. With the club losing money at a rate of knots despite a good cup run, the pressure was on, as it seemed unlikely that I'd have the money to get another van der Gaag or Paulinho in a third season at this level. In the regular season we only lost two games, but were somewhat fortunate to finish in second place. Clearly, there was a slim margin for error. After winning our first playoff game, we went three without a win. This meant that we needed 6 points from the final two games, both at home, to stand a chance of promotion. We were outplayed by Sporting Covilhã, so were delighted to win 2-1. This made the next game against Olahense straightforward- the winner would go up. We saved our best til last as we absolutely stifled them in the first half and scored three goals. The second half was perhaps more nervy than it needed to be, but despite pushing hard Olahense failed to find the net, and, having seemed dead and buried, we were up! The past two seasons had ended in defeat against Salgueiros, and I've never beaten them. I decided to play a few more youngsters in the Championship game, but we never really looked the part and lost 2-1, that doesn't matter too much, but I'd really like some silverware soon, or at least beat them just once. Taça de Portugal: Our best run, getting all the way to the fifth round but losing to Gil Vicente. Standout Performers: Paulinho Spoiler I signed him because he helped Amora to the Liga 3 title last year and he proved to be worth the wages. Nowhere near our most consistent player but his 14 league goals made all the difference compared to how we finished last season. A striker who can win games on his own. Jordan van der Gaag Spoiler Our star player chipped in with 10 assists but more importantly just imposes order on the pitch. I always feel confident when he's on the ball in midfield. Rodrigo Beirão Spoiler Another solid season at the back alongside Martim Rocha, I would like to think Beirão won't look out of place in the second tier. He's still improving. Fábio Martins Spoiler Last season I wrote: "My mezzala is getting on a bit but on his day he sometimes transforms into our biggest goal threat. I'm hoping I can get one more good season from him." Well, he led from the front in the biggest game in our history, scoring twice against Olahense. That's probably enough to earn him a new contract on sentimental value alone. Best Youth Prospect: Luís Silva Spoiler Nine senior appearances this time out and Silva... unmistakably plays like a 16 year old. But there is promise there, and at least he has one assist to his name. Season Summary Any Other Business: Erm...he's good but he's not that good! Next Season: I think the two challengers who got to Liga 2 previously both enjoyed back-to-back promotions. Honestly, that seems like too big an ask for this squad. We need to consolidate and finishing lower-mid table would be nice work indeed. Progress:
OlivierL
Africanos Bragança - Portugal - Youth Intake - Class 2032 Preview The preview was a good indicator this time ! This intake destroyed the record of Class 27 ( average attribute rating 35.96) with 39.25 average ! We received 8 players above 40% and we almost have a future new backline. Determination wise it is also the best intake ever with 11.13 Det average. All the players from Class 32 received a contract. Really happy with this progress and our recent promotion and current upgrades are for sure helping us. Can't show and post them all but i'm really excited about above seven . Silva 32L and Santos 32E could become our future fullbacks and i really needed a WBL, so i'm happy. Cabral 32M has the PA and could become our next number 1,but his personality isn't good. With Andrade 32K we have a third very good central defender in our squad. Oliveira 23H has some really good passing attributes and Lopes 32i can be retrained as a IFL . Forward Lima 32G could become a first team player. Edited January 19, 2022 by OlivierL

Novafluff
Season 2027/28 After last years good performance i had high hopes as we brought in some really nice talent to our squad. We couldnt repeat our last years cup run but a fourth round exit is still okay only losing to Braga 1-2 at home. In the league we started of a bit shaky with 2 wins 2 losses and 3 draws in the first 7 games but after that we only drew one more and won the rest. We ended up also crushing our promotion stage group winning 5 out of 6 and only conceding 2 goals. So next season we are looking forward to some 2nd tier football. The big worry i have for next season is our economics which really spiraled out of control this season. We might need to sell some of our talent and hopefully we can get a lot of more revenue next season. We let two of our academy products get some playing time in the end of the regular season but mostly for fun more than that they are close to 1st team.

Novafluff
Season 2028/29 After managing to extend the loan of our two CD from last season i had a good feeling going into our season as i felt we were way to good for tier 3 last year so i thought we would have no trouble staying up in Tier 2. We started the season quite good as we remained the first half of the season in the top half . Second half went even better and we managed 3rd spot which gave us a playoff against Rio Ave where we lost at home 0-1 but after a really good away game we scraped togehter a total 2-1 win and are now gonna try our wings at tier 1! Have one huge worry thou as before the season some of our key players was mad that i turned down offers for them. One got sold as the board accepted an offer but the rest i managed to keep, the problem is thou that their contracts are now running out and they will leave so after the season we got 3 loans going out and 3 starters not signing new contracts among those our best striker that bagged 28 goals and 6 assists in 39 games. So after the season we stand without any strikers and 6 out of the starting eleven leaving, this plus our really bad economy and 0 euro transfer budget for next season will make us fighting for survival for sure! Really hope the cash will start flowing more next season. Good news is that we extended the stadium to 2.2k instead of 1k! Hoping for a new arena in the near future if we remain in tier 1.

OlivierL
Africanos Bragança - Portugal - Youth Intake - Class 2033 Preview The preview was again a good indicator . We received an intake with very high PA and 5 or 6 players with high CA. The personalities and determination wasn't that great. Neves 33A is the player with highest PA . A very good midfielder with sadly a bad personality. Silva 33P has the highest CA with 46.31 , he is our best player ever that joined us from the academy. With Nascimento 33M and Monteiro 33N we have our two future fast wingers ! Fernandes 33H had a good personality and gives us an extra option up front with his 15 finishing and good heading attribute. Dias 33E has everything to become another DC option.

We had a chance to finish higher but at the end we lost a few games in a row. We finish again 11th but with more points. Our oldest senior player retired, Graça for everything ! Fernandes 33H scored a goal in his debut and only match this season. Almeida 27B had a great season with scoring 13 goals from IFL. Taça de Portugal: Lost against Braga in the fourth round. Taça De Liga - Allianz Cup: We finished last in the group stage. U23: Finished last but no relegation. U19: Our U19 finished first in the 2nd tier and won the promotion group. Key Players Lopes 30F again had a great season and he received a call-up for Cape Verde in the AFCON. Antunes 29A had a very good season at the back and Tavares 27H assisted 7 . Miscellaneous & Finances First Call-up for the senior team of Cape Verde. But Lopes 30F didn't play. Finances are looking good and we still improving our facilities. Aim for next season I am satisfied with our progression and now hope to make the next step with some strong youth players from the last intake. The objective is to finish in the top ten. OlivierL
Africanos Bragança - Portugal - Youth Intake 12 - Class 2034 Preview What a great intake ! We got our much needed DMC and we get a very big attacking quality injection. Highest average (40.98%) attributes and this class produced the top three of highest CA intake players. Our improved reputation and facilities keep procuding good prospects. I need to show 7 players. Sanches 34D is the DMC we needed , his personality isn't great. We got three new wingers in Cardoso 34i, Lima 34F and Oliveira 34J , really excited about them. Sequeira 34G is a great striker with 16 finishing but his determination is bad. Monteiro 34C is our other good striker and with Vaz 34B we also got a very good DC prospect. Really happy with above 7 !
Joy_in_Leeuwarden
Start of 2027/28 Season Well, as was the case with the other challengers, the second tier looked more daunting than the reality. Playing in a regular style league rather than groups leaves slightly more margin for error than in previous seasons, and I'm confident we'll be in the playoff place at least come the end of the season. This achievement comes in spite of the fact that we're losing money like crazy and had an eye-watering £10k cut off our wage budget mid-season! Ouch. Normal service resumed in the cups, so no extra prize money this season either. Star man so far has been Miguel Falé, on loan from Paços de Ferreira. Unsurprisingly, he's been the best striker I've had on this challenge with 13 goals in just 17 games. Definitely someone I'll be looking to bring in permanently if I ever have a wage budget again.

In the end, we managed to secure it on the last matchday, but you don't get to the European stages if the cup winner doesn't finish in the top five... that cup final was played by Belenenses (number 10) against... us! Taça de Portugal: We reached the semi finals against Sporting, after beating them with a lot of luck.. we had to play Belenenses in the final. If we won we would reach Europe (League) , if not we would have nothing. We did it in the extra times ! Europe beware, eleven Africanos are on their way! Taça De Liga - Allianz Cup: We lost in the second phase. U23: Finished last but no relegation. U19: Our U19 finished 7th in the 1st tier and did not relegate . Key Players Lopes 30F and Antunes 29A are regular names in this part of the review and had again a good season at the back. Nascimento 33M joins them with 27 goals as a 16 year old striker. He is included in the NxGn top 50 Miscellaneous & Finances I'm waiting for the first App. for Cape Verde senior team but we are getting some call ups and apps for the U20 now. Our two, three best prospects aren't getting any call ups, very strange. or they want to play for Portugal and are rejecting any call ups in the background or ? Finances didn't improve but after getting into the Europa League, this won't be an issue in the next season(s). Macland is wanted .. by a nation called Scotland :) Aim for next season I am certainly looking forward to the money and experience of playing in the Europa League. I can again fit in four or five youngsters from the last intake and hope to take the next step (repeating top six would be fine) Cape Verde Watch National Team | U23 Squad | U20 Squad Cape Verde didn't qualify for the Fifa World Cup. Joy_in_Leeuwarden
2028 Youth Intake Even with the possibility of the Primeira Liga looming and a new HOYD, it still seems like we'll need further investment to start producing especially good youth prospects. But one or two here aren't too far off the weaker members of our matchday squad. I'm also wondering if SI need to put a few more Cape Verdean first names and surnames into their database...

Joy_in_Leeuwarden
Season 5: 2027/28 League: Spoiler Fixtures: Spoiler Well, the second half of the season went even better than the first, which in the end led to a bit of a procession the Liga 2 title, my first official piece of silverware! There's probably a lot of truth to the claim that FM22 is an 'easier' iteration than in previous years but given the task at hand I'm not particularly bothered. All the less so because I have an entertaining side who are fun to manage. We still retained the spine of the team that won us promotion last season, which is vindication for those who my coaches seemed to dismiss as not being cut out for the second tier. So dominant was our season that I have good reason to think we'll survive the Primeira Liga, but the biggest challenge is how to start to produce quality Cape Verdean players when we're hamstrung financially? I think the best strategy for now is to bring in 3-4 quality players but seek to improve facilities while repairing the financial damage. In short, I think it could be a long wait for the next title. But for now, it feels great to see Africanos getting into the big time! Taça de Portugal, Taca de Liga: Olhanense get revenge for last season's playoff by knocking us out of the cup. In the league cup equivalent we lost to big boys Boavista. Standout Performers: Miguel Falé Spoiler On loan from Paços de Ferreira, who I feel might regret that decision after they finished 7th, Falé won us so many points that it would not be right to consider anyone else for our player of the season. The poacher's 23 league goals are the reason we'll be in the top flight next season, and he's still only 24. Now to try and sign him. Rodrigo Beirão Spoiler A solid contender alongside van der Gaag as my best ever Africanos signing, Rodrigo adapted well to Liga 2 and remained a threat from set-pieces. He continues to improve, so might still be a regular fixture next season too. Nuno Cunha Spoiler Another player I got from a divisional rival, the free transfer from Mafra actually vindicated my late decision to release last season's playoff hero Fábio Martins. A fine player who gave me a real selection headache in midfield, and will likely continue to do so. Vitinha Spoiler The solid right-back I'd long been looking for, I barely noticed Vitinha as he carried out his job with quiet brilliance. A real shame he picked up a bad hip injury with weeks of the season left, I hope he does not lose his sharpness upon his return. Best Youth Prospect: Renato Monteiro Spoiler Appearing from nowhere the young midfielder caught the eye playing his first full season for the u19s and I started to sub him on for the first team. He seemed to have little problem playing in the anchor man role and in the end I gave him a full start in our final match of the season. Very promising stuff, and perhaps a regular in the future. Season Summary Any Other Business: I've finally been allowed to get my third coaching badge. Also, we'll have a new home next season. Next Season: We are well ahead of schedule, so survival, financial stability and improved facilities are all I really want next season! OlivierL
Africanos Bragança - Portugal - Youth Intake 13 - Class 2035 Preview Again a very good intake with two very good DC's and an average of 42.61% . with Sanches 35A we get a driven tall central defender and our best intake player ever with 52.27% Sanches 35A is our best PA and CA player ever ! And Ferreira 35D will be his DC partner for the next coming seasons ! Furtado 35F is a good extra MC option and Gomes 35C is our new pressing animal ! Reaching Conference League (playoffs) is ok and if we get to the groupstage we will be able to make some money. Nascimento 33M and Monteiro 33N had a great season with most goals and assists in the league. Nascimento 33M also won the European golden boy award and was nominated in the African team of the year. Nascimento 33m and Lopes 32i were number one and two in the new wonderkid list ! Taça de Portugal: We didn't win it this time but we reached the sixt round before getting beated by Gil Vicente Supertaça: We lost the final against Porto for a 33k attendance. Taça De Liga - Allianz Cup: We lost in the third phase. Europe: We did a very good job finishing second in our first every Europa League Group. in a group with Zenit, Rosenborg & Saint-étienne . We beated Hoffenheim in the first knockout after a penalty shootout but couldn't beat M'Gladbach in the second knockout. U23: Finished last but no relegation. U19: Our U19 finished 3rd in the 1st tier and played the championship playoffs for the first time. They finished 3rd ! Key Players The same three key players as last season. Can i replace Antunes 29A next season after again a good performance ? Miscellaneous & Finances At last we had a lot of international call ups and apps for Senior and youth players ! Downside, every two year i'll miss some senior players because of the Africa cup ! Finances improved a lot because of the Europa League but we used most of it for Training and Youth facilities upgrades. Macland is wanted .. by France this time, number one of the world. And we got a new president , nothing changed ! Aim for next season I have high hopes for the two central defenders from the last intake. If I can integrate them into my existing eleven, then I hope to go for the top six again and thus achieve European status. In Europe I need to reach the group stage of the Conference league and then anything is possible. CardiffDragon
thinking of starting this challenge the thought of downloading it again and again is very demoralising so would it still stand if i downloaded riddlers portugal to div 5 database and used that to start straight away or is that not following the rules of the challenge, any advice on starting tactics, keep it very simple i would imagine. also some of the kits i have seen on the thread are very good and well researched, are they available to download anywhere? sorry for all the questions but thought i would ask before getting started

CardiffDragon
that would be most appreciated on both counts, did not want to break any rules i understand that the first couple of seasons are a nightmare due to the nation rules, any tips or is it just biting the bullet until the youth start to come through, i assume most people are doing this as a youth challenge?
