We bid adieu to one of our stalwarts an 2nd Division. He was entering into the last year of his contract &  I have a replacement coming in on a free transfer who my scouts reckon is better than our Japanese star

Transfer Update

We broke the transfer record received as well as spent.

Players out:

Ba was a solid player, but the money on offer was silly. I have a good alternative in Dahl who was the big signing last year as well as up and coming Arndt (whose contract I had to renew as there was interest in him).

0d5f7c937bd51c5341e99205a6dbc4cf.png

Christ was fantastic player for us and one who I did not ant to sell, but it was out of my hand. No alternative identified so far. I might give Sommer a chance.

The record sale. He was fantastic upfront for us, but the money was too good for us.

My record signing. I replaced last years division top scorer with the runner up

Real has an embarrassment of riches upfront and the youngster was interested in a move. Had competition from Schalke, who is still stuck in Div 2. Looks quality through and through, but scouts think he has reached his potential. I will be in trouble if he does not fire in Bundesliga.

Jumped up at the chance when he was available on a Bosman. Quality upgrade who was 3 years younger, so my Jap GK was on the way out (He was too good to be a back up).

One for the future and the first one that was identified by my scout on a global future prospect mission. Also my first purchase from outside Europe (I had signed a Mexican winger and a young Argentinian last season, but both were unattached)

Broke our transfer record again. The trigger was when Sporting came up with the bid for my Czech International. This left my squad extremely light in the flanks

Moved in quickly and paid the release clause for the young Spaniard, who was highly rated by my scouts.

He was not my first choice, there was a non-regen Brazilian youngster at Athletico Paranaense. He had a lower release clause, but I was not able to match his wage requirements.

Some great signings! I don’t think PSV is much of a step up from the bundesliga, I would wait for a larger club at a top5 league to come available.

PSV is purely a personal choice as they are one of my favorite clubs in real life. But the job went to Basel Manager.

Squad

Staying back for the beginning of Bundesliga season at least (no good opening elsewhere). All the meddling from board has left us with a good bottom-line. I utilized the financial footing by extending the contracts of my key players who were attracting interest (as well as low ball bids). The turmoil seems to have settled for now.

This fella was the top recommendation in a transfer committee meeting. He was available for a decent price and looks like a tidy all round player. With him joining up, I had too many midfielders and offered out my reserve CM/DM. He would have struggled for game time

Not sure what I am missing with this fella. Have Wolfsburg, Karslruhe and Hoffenheim bidding. The bids started around 4m+1m . I countered with 6m+50%. Next one that came in, I went 1 mil higher and canceled previously accepted bid. Now its entering silly money territory. He is nowhere near first team quality and I doubt if he would ever make the cut

I am over the moon with the start we had to the campaign. Our new GK has been immense and my only concern is Rafa's performance. He was nowhere near as clinical as Basaric and he had wasted lot of chances in the first month.

These news items shows the size of our challenge this year

Had picked up couple youngster for our development team, but there was one major departure. Harvey was a big part of our defence, but we have some homegrown talent in front of him and I did not see him breaking into the team this year.

Sep & Oct '27

September form gave us some real impetus, but the scorelines were deceptive. Werder had a player sent off at 20 mins and drew level just after the break. We got back into the game with a lucky goal before sucker punching them at close. Stuttgart have been awful so far. My worries about the performance was proven against Rostock and the performance got progressively worse through October (a tough st of fixtures to boot). Only my GK held up against Bayern and the reason they scored only 2. Thankfully had a morale boosting win against Koln.

Nov also looks tough as Frankfurt and Mainz are on good form. 6th spot in table is a freak occurrence I reckon

A good goalie is always a great platform though

Can't agree more. My first choice in any team is to strengthen the defence (and once I have a decent set at back, I tend to not chop and change).

Tough choice. Sevilla seems to be performing better, but the board seems trigger happy. Napoli has some world class players at their disposal including the Nigerian forward and Georgian winger who haven't moved on till now.

Well the gulf in quality became more and more apparent as the season wore on. Our attacking output was woeful and defensive mistakes was costing us matches. The job offers came at the right moment as I feel I am captaining a sinking ship. I am grateful to the early season victories as that is the only reason we are not in the relegation spots

  • vivu changed the title to [FM 23] Top of the Italian Pyramid from the bottom of the German one

Problem area fixed.. Hopefully..

Had couple of better options who were interested, but the budget was a constraint. Marco had a low release clause which I triggered and he was willing to come at a very reasonable contract. Next focus is on Defenders.

Need to enter the wheeling and dealing mode. Have offered out Eljif Elmas  (the only player I can spare who had some interest) and Nabi Keita (who was already on the transfer list before I joined). And triggered the contract clauses on 3 veterans whose contract was ending in 6 months.

New manager bounce in full swing and I couldn't be happier with the results (including the massive one against Juve). The core of the team is really strong, though aging, and Osimhen is a different level of player than what I have managed till now (in this save :) ). Another key player is Anguissa who has really surprised me wit his performances.

The bonus was sneaking into knock out round in UCL. The worry is that I can only register 3 of my new signings for the championship.

Transfer Update

Went on a bit of a wheeling and dealing bender.

Apart from the ones I covered earlier, few more first teamers moved on. Arquimedes was a youngster that came through our youth set up, but he was not rated by coaches. The bid came out of the blue, as he was not transfer listed.

Amir Rrahmani was a key player in my defence, but 18 million was silly money for a 33 year old

Novoa was a weird one. He came in wanting to go out on loan with a view of earning a permanent move. I was not willing to and the argument ended up with him handing in a transfer request. I could have used him in the campaign, especially considering that we are through to UCL knockouts
