We're back at the Al Bayt Stadium, scene of Qatar vs Ecuador on Sunday.

Morocco

Have only once reached the knockouts, in 1986. Big name player is Hakim Ziyech.

Croatia

Runners up last time around, their best ever World Cup performance, can they challenge again or are they a bit of an aging squad now? Modric is still different class tbf.

TV Coverage

It's Seema Jaswal with the two Jo(h)n's commentating, Champion and Hartson. Lets hope Hartson doesn't forget who is playing this time.

Lovren

For reference, Croatia won the Nations League group off stellar defense being played by three young CBs who rotated. Gvardiol, Šutalo and Erlić.

Lovren shouldn't have even been called up, but he somehow bullies spineless Dalić into starting him. Hopefully he cost us a goal in the first 10 minutes. Disgusting c*nt.

Gvardiol also has a broken nose and is playnig with a mask.

Other than that, expected lineup.

Morocco changed their coach who finally got them in order and playing like a decntly disciplined team, just because he didn't want some players in the team, like Ziyech.

On paper they're probably the best African team, we'll see if they can do damage.

ITV: "Urgh, do we HAVE to talk about this match?"

They went on air at 9am and spent the first 45 minutes talking about England, Wales, and Joe Cole's volley from 2006. :D

I fancy another late-morning shock. Morocco to win 1-0.

I am loving the World Cup but I'm not waking up at 9am to watch an hour build up for this :D

Looking forward to seeing Morocco.  Felt they were a bit hard done by at WC2018.  Lost 1-0 to Iran, very late on in a game they dominated.  Then lost 1-0 to Portugal, and suddenly they were out with a game still to play.  But still went on and nearly beat Spain.

Croatia surely past it.  Even Southgate's dour and unadventurous England side beat them comfortably last year.

I don't know why are people actually saying this.

Other than saboteur Lovren ruining it, Croatia is actually way better than on the past EURO, as easily seen from winning the Nations League group with Denmark and France.

Completely new and never better defense (again, ruined by Lovren), noone except Modrić having age issues and he's still playing like he always did.

The only problem being a lack of good enough replacement for Mandžukić.

I still don't know whether Ziyech is actually any good, no idea whether a side like Morocco can make the most of wing backs.

Croatian journo on 5 live wasn't complimentary about Lovren :D

Main point of intrigue is whether Gunman is wanting Croatia to win or pretending not to so that he can laugh at any failures.

Did they say the ex Morocco manager has qualified for the last 4 World Cups but only went to 1 as he got sacked before the tournament proper :D

‘kin hell.

Yep. Vahid Halilhodzic.

2010: Ivory Coast - qualified, SACKED before the tournament

2014: Algeria - qualified, actually went to the tournament :D

2018: Japan - qualified, SACKED before the tournament

2022: Morocco - you get the idea

Possibly they should've given him more chances, as he did great for Algeria at the World Cup he actually got to go to.
