Astafjevs
Main event time. The chaff and warm-up acts are out of the way. Time for some big teams. Head to head Spain - 8 Germany - 9 Draws - 8 Most recent meeting 17 November 2020, Nations League Group A: Spain 6-0 Germany
Darren Moores Mum
Japan blowing it has made this match less spicy. Germany being in a position where they can lose this and still go through is crap. Think it will be a draw though, then Germany smash Costa Rica and cruise through in the end. Mahzun_Savas
Good to see Schlotterbeck dropped, he had to be after his poor play against Japan.
skybluedave
Yeah, Japan proper ruined this game
Administrators Lucas Posted November 27, 2022 Administrators Share Posted November 27, 2022 Yeah gutted at the result earlier as Germany barely need a result here unless not to get completely battered. A team going through on 3 points and GD would just be wrong.
Astafjevs
Yeh Japan have ruined this really because you'd still expect Germany to beat Costa Rica and Spain to beat Japan. The only hope is that Spain put in another big score to put some jeopardy in the final matches. Germany having to chase GD, Japan parking the bus etc.
Darren Moores Mum
If Spain do win here then maybe they change things around for the final game and give Japan a hope. Probably still win regardless.
craigcwwe
Such a shame Japan FK'd it for neutral earlier.

XuluBak
Japan blew it, but expect Spain to batter Germany, and make things interesting for matchday 3. Edited November 27, 2022 by XuluBak
Darius1998
Before the World Cup started, I would have put Enrique and Flick as the best managers in the tournament. Then Flick proceeded to set up an encore of Jogi Low's last 3 years. Edited November 27, 2022 by Darius1998
PMLF
Biggest game of the group stage. I don't care about who wins, but hopefully it will be a good game. Edited November 27, 2022 by PMLF
GunmaN1905
Are Spaniards mean enough to draw against Japan if they win here? Some years ago I'd say Germany recovers and win this, but ever since 2014 they've just been descending into worse and worse performances. Anything could happen. Hopefully we see a lot of goals. Happened with Denmark at the last Euros, I think that was the first Euros or WC group that finished 9-3-3-3. Before that nobody had lost two out of three and still gone through. Freakiie
Still not playing with an actual striker. Just how often are coaches gonna play Müller as a false 9, have it hopelessly fail and attempt it again the next game anyway.

I'll admit I haven't got a clue about Fullkrug, is he actually good enough to start? Muokoko is obviously a kid, but I'd say Adeyami has to be a better choice than Muller these days. The_jagster
Still looking forward to this but as above Japan getting a result has made it less spicy. I'd favour Spain but I could see Germany winning.

Astafjevs
Germany have a lot of gaps in their team that are hard to fill. Not much you can do as a coach if you've not got any good strikers, fullbacks or central defenders.

I honestly don't even care whether he's good enough, I just care about having someone that parks his ass on top of the CDs and tries to keep them busy rather than drifting around 24/7 looking for the same space that all 3 guys behind him also want to drift into and finding none of it as a result.

Mickybricks14
Its weird that since klinsmann and beirhoff Germany have only had two good strikers in klose and Gomez and even then neither was world class. They haven't had a good RB since lahm retired
CFuller
Fancy Germany's chances a bit more now that Goretzka is starting. Doesn't really get the credit he deserves compared to other players in the German squad. Still think Kimmich needs to step up and show he can be their 'quarterback' and be defensively responsible at the same time. I had Spain down as potential finalists before the tournament began, and they were absolutely ruthless against Costa Rica. Their attacking qualities are obvious, but I'm interested to see how their defence copes under pressure. Going for Germany to win a five-goal thriller... which probably means Spain will win 1-0. DJ
I wonder what Makkelie will turn up. He can be excellent, but also has days where he simply refuses to whistle for fouls and keeps the cards in his pocket way too long.

Werner is a loss with Sane not being fully fit, even if people think Werner is a joker.
