Stuniverse
Thanks, @XaW 17 minutes ago, XaW said: I had to look up what it meant, as I hadn't heard that proverb before! My apologies. I should have explained. 17 minutes ago, XaW said: But if I get it that it mans to struggle after a fantastic display Yes. Exactly that. After a high (our 5-0 victory over Fredrikstad) you follow up with a low (fortunately, our low only lasted 20 minutes against Nordstrand). In football terms over here, After the Lord Mayor's show is usually used when you get a fantastic result, beating somebody you weren't expected to beat, and then immediately follow it up by losing to someone you should've beaten. 17 minutes ago, XaW said: the closest I can think of is "Hoppe etter Wirkola". It means that you can never preform as well as the one before, and it literally means "Jumping after Wirkola", and that again refers to the ski jumper Bjørn Wirkola who was so good than no one could match him, so by being the next after him, you would always look extremely bad! Best one I could think of off the top of my head, anyway. Yes. That sounds like the same sort of thing. Thank you, as always, for the information. Stuniverse
Sunday 5th July 2026 Hødd II (1st) v Hei (11th) Norsk Tipping-ligaen Avdeling 2 (Tier 4) -- -- Spoiler My plan to play Alexander Ammitzboll in the 2nd Team to help his confidence didn't pay off. Alexander put in a 5.9 display, not helped by him hitting a weak penalty straight down the middle which the Hei goalkeeper caught without even moving. 1 hour ago, Stuniverse said: The one change I have made is on the bench. Our second best striker, according to my Backroom Staff any way, Alexander Ammitzboll hasn't scored in his last eight appearances. I've been as supportive as I can, but I've decided to make him available for tomorrow's Hødd II match and hopefully he'll remember how to score goals. Reveal hidden contents Young striker Aleksander Orstavik, on as a late sub, did get the ball in the back of the net, his header going in off the underside of the bar, but it was ruled out for offside. Spoiler -- With some of our better youngsters out on loan, whilst we do have some talents in the 2nd Team, I'm not sure any of them are ready for the First Team yet. Stuniverse
Saturday 11th July 2026 Hødd (4th) v Kristiansund (6th) OBOS-ligaen -- -- Normally after 5-0 and 4-0 victories it would make sense to name an unchanged side but our captain Marius Alm is suspended and... ... we've just signed Markus André Kaasa who I believe will be a quality player in midfield for us. But, with the unhappiness in the squad at the moment that Kaasa's arrival has caused with Andreas Dybevik and his gang I find myself second guessing myself. Brage Kvithyld will come in for our suspended capatain. Having recovered from a twisted ankle, Halvor Rødølen Opsahl comes onto the bench in case he's needed in central defence and new signing Markus André Kaasa takes the place of Eduards Emsis on the bench. -- -- I can't fault any of the players today. They were magnificent from first whistle to the last. Hopefully the 1,000 or so Hødd supporters in today's Høddvoll attendance of 1,593 enjoyed that.
Stuniverse
Saturday 18th July 2026 KFUM-Kameratene Oslo (16th) v Hødd (3rd) OBOS-ligaen -- -- We registered 15-year old goalkeeper Teodor Saga in one of our five Youth Contract spaces and he's been training with the first team all week in case he was required. Spoiler Fortunately, or unfortunately for Teodor, Marius Ulla is fit enough to go on the bench. There's a few players not fully fit that we had to give careful consideration to as to whether or not we should risk them. Having served his suspension, our captain Marius Alm replaces Halvor Rødølen Opsahl (calf) on the bench. Orri Sveinn Stefánsson takes the place of Sivert Westerlund (food poisoning) on the bench. There's no changes to the starting 11. -- This is one of those games I really can't explain. We were 1-0 up through Markus Karlsbakk at the break, a half that was disrupted by injuries to two right wingers - Rasmus Eggen Vinge (groin) and then his replacement Runar Hauge (thigh). Markus André Kaasa scored his first goal since joining Hødd a couple of weeks ago and we looked to be cruising. KFUM-Kameratene Oslo pulled a goal back and suddenly they were inspired and we went into our shell. Soon it was 2-2 and then we were 2-3 down with five minutes to go. Enter substitute Teodor Haltvik, who I'd hoped not to use as he's still recovering from a bruised knee, to score a late, late equaliser.
Stuniverse
Saturday 25th July 2026 Grorud (3rd) v Hødd (4th) OBOS-ligaen -- -- We have a lot of players who aren't fully fit. Our captain, Marius Alm returns to the starting 11 instead of Brage Kvithyld. Markus André Kaasa gets his first start since joining a few weeks ago in place of Stian Nygard, with Markus Karlsbakk moving out left. -- I think this was just one game too far. We started well and took the lead just before the half hour. But we looked leggy, we have a lot of players who aren't fully fit right now, and Grorud just out-lasted us. As we got tireder, they seemed to get stronger. Two goals in the second-half turned the game in their favour. There wasn't much in it, few chances as you'd expect 3rd against 4th, but they just had more energy than us today.

First Team Coach We had an internal applicant for our vacant First Team Coach role. Whilst Andre Skotheim might not have been the best applicant, he is very good at what he does and my Board like him because he's been made caretaker manager of Hødd on two separate occassions. Stuniverse
Saturday 1st August 2026 Hødd (5th) v Levanger (13th) OBOS-ligaen -- We still have quite a long list of players who are not fully fit. One change to the starting 11. Our captain Mariua Alm has a gashed upper leg which we won't risk, so Brage Kvithyld comes in. On the bench, Erik Frøysa (who still wants to leave due to our relegation, even though there's been no interest in him) takes a seat on the bench. -- Levanger took the lead with a fine goal inside 10 minutes. Most times you can look at a goal and say it was defendable, if we'd just done this or that, but fair play to Levanger and Ivar Sollie Rønning this was just a very good goal. And it threw us out of our stride. Abel Stensrud equalised for us just before half-time from the penalty spot. That settled our nerves. We were the better team after the break but we couldn't score that second goal as Neydson da Silva impressed in goal for Levanger.
Stuniverse
Wednesday 5th August 2026 Hødd (6th) v Raufoss (15th) OBOS-ligaen -- -- Our medical team have been working hard over the last couple of weeks with our fitness coach and most players are now close to full fitness. Abel Stensrud has a tight hamstring which we won't risk as he's so important to us. Dion Krasniqi will start in his place. We also won't risk our captain, Marius Alm, so Brage Kvithyld continues in the heart of our defence. Teodor Haltvik replaces Markus André Kaasa with Markus Karlsbakk moving to the middle of the attacking three. Jørgen Fjeldskår comes in for Lucas Forsberg. Lucas is fully fit and he isn't injured but he's not in the matchday squad today. On the bench, Halvor Rødølen Opsahl has recovered from his calf problem and I've gone for him as centre-back cover over Orri Sveinn Stefánsson. Sivert Westerlund is over his food poisoning at last and is on the bench. -- This was a crazy game that defies all understanding. With 20 minutes to go we were cruising at 4-1 even though, to be fair, Raufoss were playing better than us. We were just more clinical in front of goal. Raufoss pulled it back to 4-2 around 70 minutes and then, with time running out, Andreas Dybevik gave the ball away in a dangerous area and it was 4-3. We were very twitchy after that but we held on for an important 4-3 victory.
Stuniverse
Sunday 9th August 2026 Jerv (2nd) v Hødd (4th) OBOS-ligaen -- -- We're going to adopt a Cautious mentality today away to second-placed Jerv. We welcome our captain Marius Alm (gashed leg) and Abel Stensrud (hamstring) back into the starting 11 today with Brage Kvithyld and Dion Krasniqi dropping onto the bench. Markus André Kaasa replaces Martin Bergum in midfield. Erik Frøysa misses out. Erik continues to want away following relegation, even though there's no interest in him, which is a shame because if he'd at least show that he wants to make the most of whatever time he has left at Hødd, I'd involve him more. Jørgen Fjeldskår continues at right-back. Lucas Forsberg isn't in the matchday squad, he isn't injured, his situation is completely different to Erik's and that's all I want to say about Lucas for now. I want to focus on this important match against second-placed Jerv, We'll communicate about Lucas when the time is right. -- I'm really proud of the players today. Nobody gave us a chance against Jerv but we've come to their place, given them a really good game, and feel we edged it. A Cautious mentality seemed to suit us and I'll have to consider playing that way more often. Unfortunately, when we looked in some control at 2-1 in the zsecond-half, for the second time in recent games Andreas Dybevik gave the ball away in a dangerous area and they went on to equalise. Jerv are a very good team so to come here and get a point, to almost nick it, is something else... yes... I'm so proud of my players. Just look how close the OBOS-ligan table is from 2nd-7th. Alexander Ammitzboll scored a hat-trick for our 2nd Team yesterday so I think it's time to bring Alexander back into the First Team selection again. Stuniverse
Forsberg's Omission from squad explained I didn't want to lose Lucas Forsberg as he's a very good player and, unlike some other players, he hasn't been a problem; in fact, earlier this season he signed a new deal removing his £250K relegation release clause for a £500K non-promotion release clause. But the £250K fee Jerv were offering, potentially rising to £300K was too good to turn down. It's annoying he's going to an OBOS-ligaen promotion / playoff rival - we were hoping Eliteserien Asane would also bid, but they didn't - so it's goobye Lucas with our best wishes. Spoiler -- Forsberg replacement I'll be honest, I'm not sure what to do at the moment. Budget wise we're fine, but I don't want to spend money unnecessarily if we don't need to. Jørgen Fjeldskår has been our right-back cover all season and he performed well in the two games we left Forsberg out for. Spoiler We have two young players and I'm thinking of registering one of them to give him First Team playing time, as back-up to Jorgen, to aid his development. Just can't decide whether Per Christian Nguyen or Ole Dag Lervåg Saga would be the better option. Spoiler And, because we knew this was likely to happen, we do have three free agents on trial with us currently, although none of them are Norwegian (my preference) and none of them speak Norwegian. We simply couldn't find a Norwegian free agent we thought was better than Jorgen who was willing to come in on trial. Spoiler Or, although there's no money left in our scouting budget, there is the option to spend some of the Forsberg transfer money to sign a Norwegian right-back. -- What would you do? Stuniverse
11 minutes ago, warlock said: I'd probably use Fjeldskar if he's been doing OK. Thanks, @warlock. That's the way I'm leaning too, particularly as when I was looking for a right-back in January, I was looking for one who could step-up potentially if Lucas Forsberg was to leave so, having signed Jørgen Fjeldskår it would seem churlish of me not to give him that opportunity now. I've also remembered Halvor Rødølen Opsahl can play right-back as well. Spoiler And Erik Frøysa can too, although I don't feel inclined to play him when he's adamant he wants to leave for a bigger club because of our relegation even though no other club is interested in him. He may want to leave but he is still one of the best RBs in Norwegian game in my view. Might as well use him till someone comes in for him Thanks, @I have nothing to say. I must admit I'm leaning towards giving Jørgen Fjeldskår his chance and I could do worse than use Erik Frøysa as cover with some playing time. Stuniverse
Sunday 16th August 2026 Hødd (6th) v Arendal (7th) OBOS-ligaen -- A good result here, against 7th placed Arendal, would open up a gap and really help our playoff chances with 3rd-6th qualifying for the playoffs. -- Markus André Kaasa comes in for Andreas Dybevik who has an ankle injury. Erik Frøysa replaces Sivert Westerlund on the bench and I've brought Alexander Ammitzboll back onto the bench after a spell playing for the 2nd Team, including scoring a hat-trick last weekend. -- 6th v 7th was always going to be a tough game and we're delighted to have come out on top. We got off to the perfect start when Rasmus Eggen Vigne gave us a first minute lead. That just wound up Arendal and for the next half an hour or so they were all over us. They couldn't break through though, not until they crossed the ball into a crowded penalty area and Marius Alm was adjudged to have been pushing. Arendal equalised from the penalty spot. We really were under pressure until, on the stroke of half-time, we counter-attacked, won a free-kick just outside the penalty area, and Markus Karlsbakk curled the set-piece around the wall and into the top corner. During the interval, we changed to a Cautious mentality and we were much better in the second-half. Teodor Haltvik made it 3-1. We had to defend in the last 20 minutes and we defended well. Arendal pulled a goal back late on but we were able to see the game out. Edited January 7 by Stuniverse
Stuniverse
Wednesday 19th August 2026 Aalesunds (14th) v Hødd (5th) OBOS-ligaen -- Hødd sign Borchgrevink I'll be honest, I was going to let Jørgen Fjeldskår and Erik Frøysa play right-back between them for the rest of the season following the sale of Lucas Forsberg to Jerv, but then... ... the opportunity to sign Christian Borchgrevink presented itself and we had to ask. I spoke to Christian's agent. Christian was out-of-contract at the end of the season and Sarpsborg (Eliteserien) weren't renewing his contract. We had a choice between offering him a deal for next season as a free agent or buying him now. Further enquiries suggested we could sign him for a nominal fee and his wage demands were well within our salary scale. Welcome to Hødd, Christian. Spoiler -- -- New signing Christian Borchgrevink comes in for his debut, although we'll have to be careful with him as he's only just back from a bruised foot. Jørgen Fjeldskår drops to the bench and Erik Frøysa misses out. -- -- It's disappointing to have been just minutes away from beating our rivals Aalesunds in their own back yard but, at least, we didn't lose. The first-half was pretty uneventful. We were playing Cautious and, whilst we limited Aalesunds chances, we couldn't get anything going up front either. We went Positive after the break and we had more of the game. Twice we took the lead and twice Aalesunds equalised. Their first goal was on me, I'll take the blame for that one. Our captain, Marius Alm, was on a yellow card and I'd told him to ease of tackles. I was going to substitute him but delayed and delayed... anyway, Marius got caught one-on-one with Kristensen, Marius was reluctant to risk a tackle, Kristensen got away from him, ran in and scored. We've taken four points off our rivals Aalesunds this season but, we're disappointed, as we felt we played well enough to win today.
Stuniverse
"Player Dynamics - Here we go again!" Two players came to see me because they were unhappy with their playing time. I told Alexander Ammitzboll that it would be better if he could see himself as a squad player and he agreed to that. Spoiler -- I also told Halvor Rødølen Opsahl that he was pretty much a squad player and it would be best if he could see himself as a squad player. Stuniverse
Goalkeepers -- It's all change in our Goalkeeping department. Spoiler There were rumours of Eliteserien interest from Sandefjord in our #1 goalkeeper Goran Karacic. My initial thoughts had been to reject any offers this season but, as Goran was one of the players who opposed me over my Halvor Rødølen Opsahl decision, I decided to sell him if acceptable bids came in. Nope. Not if we owed Goran almost half of that. We countered. Sandefjord came back with: We countered again asking for £50K. We accepted the £50K offer from Sandefjord. -- The deal hasn't gone through yet, but no way was Goran going to play in goal for Hødd while he was negotiating personal terms with Sandefjord. Now what to do? Well we'd agreed a pre-contract for Morten Sætra when his contract expired at the end of the season, so we attempted to buy him now. Stuniverse
Sunday 30th August 2026 Hødd (5th) v Skeid (12th) OBOS-ligaen -- -- Two changes today. New signing Morten Sætra comes in for Goran Karacic and Jørgen Fjeldskår replaces Christian Borchgrevink who has a tight hamstring. -- We got the result we wanted in the end but we made hard work of it against Skeid. Generally we played well, we created a lot of chances, but didn't get anywhere near enough on target. That left us at risk and that's how it proved with Skeid scoring with their first attempt on our goal. We changed up from Balanced to Positive after that and goals from Markus Karlsbakk and two from Abel Stensrud made it a comfortable scoreline. Our new goalkeeper, Morten Sætra, has a long kick on him which could prove an invaluable asset.

Stuniverse
Sunday 27th September 2026 Hødd (5th) v Hamarkameratene (7th) OBOS-ligaen -- This is a big game for us. Hamarkameratene are 7th, one place outside the playoff places and only one point behind us. A win, if we can find a way to win, would open up a gap and give us breathing space of more than one match. -- Brage Kvithyld replaces our suspended captain Marius Alm. Orri Sveinn Stefánsson and Andreas Dybevik come onto the bench. -- There was very little in this game as you'd expect from two teams separated by only one point. We had the better of the first half and deservedly took the lead. The second-half was more even. Hamarkameratene equalised with a fine, long-range soft and then benefitted from a soft penalty, harshly given in my opinion, that won it for them. Stuniverse
My agent calls -- Stuniverse: Hello, stranger. Long time, no see. How are you? Hedda Berg: I'm good thanks. How are you? Stuniverse: Yes. All good here, thank you. I've moved to Ulsteinvik and have settled in pretty well. Hedda Berg: That's great. And congratulations on how well things are going at Hødd. Stuniverse: Thanks. Although it's going to be a nervy run-in. Hedda Berg: You'll be fine. I told you that you could manage in OBOS-ligaen. Stuniverse: I know, but last season was tough. I lost confidence in myself. Hedda Berg: You've got it back now, yes? Stuniverse: Oh yes, it's going well... apart from a few bad apples in the squad. I got a couple out the building this transfer window and I have my eye on the others and I'll look to move them out of the club at the end of the season. Hedda Berg: That's what I was ringing about. As you know, you're only contracted until the end of the season with Hødd. Would you like to stay? Stuniverse: Well, yes... I think so, I am enjoying it here... unless anything more attractive presents itself. Hedda Berg: There's not a lot happening at the moment, to be fair. Asane is the only Eliteserien job available right now and Haugesund is the only one that might become available in the short-term. But you'd almost certainly be back in OBOS-ligaen again next season as Asane and Haugesund both look likely to get relegated. Stuniverse: Shall we just wait until the end-of-the-season and see what happens? Hedda Berg: That's the thing though. I've just got off the phone with Eirik Pettersen, the Hødd Chairperson, and they're about to offer you a two-year contract with a small wage increase and the same wage and transfer budget that you have now. Stuniverse: That's great, but can we wait until the end of the season? Hedda Berg: I got the impression that Eirik wants it all sorting as soon as possible. I don't think I can delay the offer coming through and they said they want a quick decision. To be honest, once you get your National A Licence, I think Hødd are worried they might lose you to something better. Your reputation is up to two stars. Stuniverse: I'd prefer to wait until the end of the season. Hedda Berg: I understand, but you may not have that luxury. When the offer comes through, we can negotiate of course, but I think you'll need to sign quickly or walk away. If you choose to walk away, I'm sorry, Stuni, I can't guarantee they'll come back and offer you a new contract later. They may look for a new manager. Stuniverse: OK. Let me think about it and we'll talk again when the offer comes through. Hedda Berg: OK. I think we'll be talking again sooner than you think. Stuniverse
Hødd offer new contract -- -- And there's no option to delay until the end of the season... it's Negotiate or Walk Away. -- Effectively, Hødd are maintaining the same budgets as now (which have increased during the season due to our profit in the transfer market) and a £300 per week pay rise. But they'll be looking for a next season (2027) expectation of OBOS-ligaen playoff qualification. Edited January 8 by Stuniverse
Stuniverse
Coffee with Hedda -- I met my agent, Hedda Berg, for coffee in Ulstein. I explained that I was enjoying life at Hødd as things are going well at the moment, we are exceeding our top-half finish expectation, could yet qualify for the promotion playoffs and (but let's not get ahead of ourselves) could even be playing Eliteserien football next season. Although, being realistic, the odds are we'll still be in OBOS-ligaen next season. But I'm not sure that I want to commit for another two years. -- OK. Let's go and talk to Hødd's Chairperson Eirik Pettersen and the Hødd Board. Edited January 8 by Stuniverse
Stuniverse
New Contract Negotiations -- OK. Let's go and talk to Hødd's Chairperson Eirik Pettersen and the Hødd Board. -- -- My agent, Hedda Berg, thought we could get more money out of them and I only wanted a one-year deal, so we countered... -- Eirik Pettersen playing hard ball. Hedda got me an extra £100 per week but the Hødd Board still wanted a two-year deal. -- We countered again for a one-year deal... -- But the Hødd Board weren't budging and this time they made it clear (locked out other options) that it was a two-year deal or nothing. -- After some discussion between Hedda and myself, we accepted the two-year offer. Although, to be fair, it felt more like a draw than a win. Edited January 8 by Stuniverse

Stuniverse
Preview Kongsvinger (10th) v Hødd (6th) OBOS-ligaen -- --
Stuniverse
Saturday 10th October 2026 Kongsvinger (10th) v Hødd (6th) OBOS-ligaen -- Andreas Dybevik replaces Markus André Kaasa (broken arm). Christian Borchgrevink, after recovering from a hamstring issue, comes in for Brage Kvithyld with Erik Frøysa moving from right-back into central defence. Our captain, Marius Alm, is on the bench after serving his third, I think, suspension of the season. -- I'm so proud of all the players today, I'm choking up just thinking about how hard they worked and how magnificent they were out there. To be 0-2 down after 27 minutes and to come back and win 3-2 is just incredible. I'll be honest. I think the players are nervous out there and, to be fair to them, nobody expected us to be in this position, nobody expected us to be in playoff contention with three matches to go, we're even surprising ourselves. We did everything we could from the dugout to help them. We changed from Balanced to Positive when we went 0-2 down, both goals against the run of play. We switched to a 4-2-2WIDE-2 at the break, in fact we changed systems a few times in the second-half and we then went back to a Cautious 4-2-3-1 when we finally got our noses in front. For whatever reason, we're still creating lots of chances but we're struggling to put them away. That corner, right on the stroke of half-time, really sums up our luck at the moment. Rasmus Eggen Vinge took it, Adrian Hansen's near post header hit the post, Abel Stensrud's follow-up shot hit the goalkeeper, Adrian then had another shot which the goalkeeper blocked out for another corner. But we got the win... it didn't look like we would for long periods but we did. It's an important three points and we move on to play Start at Høddvoll next time out.
