Stuniverse
Preview -- This is a great opportunity, at home in the SR-Bank Arena, to get our Eliteserien campaign back on track after our first league defeat of the season away at Rosenborg. For the first time this season, we have no injured players. Steinar Braathen will definitely miss out, after playing the full 90 minutes against Bjarg in Cupen, because he's not registered for Eliteserien. We do still have some fitness concerns to manage though. -- Expected Line-up Edited April 6 by Stuniverse
Stuniverse
Sunday 2nd June 2030 Viking (1st) v Sandefjord (10th) Eliteserien -- -- -- To be honest with you, this was much more comfortable than we expected. For long periods in the first half, we were camped in Sandefjord's half, we pinned them in and they struggled to cross the halfway line. After the break, Sandefjord offered a bit more of a threat but I always felt comfortable. Our de mørkeblå supporters are amazing. They've been brilliant with me, my staff, and my players since my very first day in the Viking job. Over 15,000 of them again today in a 15,413 SR-Bank Arena crowd and they were so loud. The Viking fans really lift the players and we all appreciate that. And the flags were out again today which is great to see. I love a flag, me. I love a flag. -- --
Stuniverse
Monday 3rd June 2030 Petersen Unhappy About Playing Time -- - - - -- I'll be honest with you, I wasn't really expecting that to work, but it did so... I guess Oliver Petersen now becomes my #2 goalkeeper ahead of... Spoiler ... Julian Faye Lund who played very well in the Cupen games against Sarpsborg (Tier 1) and Bjarg (Tier 4). Spoiler There's no doubt though that Icelandic international Patrik Sigurður Gunnarsson remains my #1 goalkeeper. Spoiler At least for as long as he's here. There is current interest in Patrik and we've been rejecting bids for him all season, including one this month. We have agreed with Patrik and his agent that we'd let him go if we receive a bid of £8M.
Stuniverse
Preview -- -- Kvik Halden are 8th in Tier 4 Avdeling 6 but, even so, we have to respect them as they will be up for this Cupen-tie in front of their own supporters at Halden Stadion. Oliver Petersen gets the gloves as I promised to start him in Cupen games, but I also told him he had to perform. No injuries, but Lasse Berg Johnsen serves the last (I think it's the last, this is his third game suspended, right?) of his suspension following his sending off for elbowing an opponent in last season's Cupen Final against Fredrikstad. We won't be disrespecting Kvik Halden, but this is an opportunity to give some playing time to players who are returning from injury and working on their fitness. -- Expected Line-up
Stuniverse
Wednesday 5th June 2030 Kvik Halden (Tier 4) v Viking (Tier 1) Norgesmesterskapet i fotball (Cupen) Third Round -- [Note: I did make one mistake though, I meant to replace Otto Rosengren with young Steinar Braathen but I forgot. Sorry Steinar ]. -- -- Yorbe Vertessen scored two goals and, without that deflection, would have had a hat-trick. This was always a potential banana skin so I'm delighted we were able to produce such a good performance and progress comfortably to the next round of Cupen. It was great to get so many of our walking wounded onto the pitch and, as far as I can tell, they all came through unscathed. There's an international break now (the World Cup starts in just over a week) so we'll give the players a week off, apart from Patrik Sigurður Gunnarsson who's away with Iceland for a Friendly against Luxembourg. Then we'll get back to training and prepare for our next match which may, or may not, be a difficult away game against Brann depending on when that Eliteserien match is rearranged for. -- -- -- Edited April 6 by Stuniverse

Stuniverse
Preview -- -- We'll be doing everything we can to try and win the Best i vest derby for our wonderful de mørkeblå supporters. Stuniverse
Wednesday 26th June 2030 Brann (5th) v Viking (1st) Eliteserien Best i vest derby -- -- -- We're bitterly disappointed to have lost the Best i vest derby particularly when we created more and better chances than Brann. I have to take my hat off though to young 16-year old goakleeper Robin Amundsen who, in only his second senior start, pulled off some fine saves. Our plans were disrupted early when Jakob Napoleon Romsaas had to go off injured. I wouldn't go so far as to say Eirik Horneland and his Brann team went out of their way to injure Jakob, but is was incredible how many whacks he took in the opening few minutes. I have to put my hand up and say this one might be on me and apologise to my players, my staff and particularly the Viking supporters. I felt we were clearly on top and would win the game but we were struggling to break down Brann so in my urgency to get a goal, my tactical changes may have cost us. Around the hour mark I switched things to a more Attacking shape and mentality. Four or five minutes later, Isak Amundsen, now playing in an unfamiliar half back position, gets drawn out wide, Brann break through the middle and score. Two minutes later and we're two down. I changed the shape again and we started to get a grip of the game once more. We did pull one back three minutes into added on time but, by then, it was too late. After the match I apologised to the team but then I let my assistant Egil Ulfstein do his bad-cop thing because the players should still have done better than they did second half. All in all, it was just a bad day. -- Edited April 7 by Stuniverse

Stuniverse
Preview -- We play Bodø/Glimt away at Aspmyra in Norgesmesterskapet i fotball (Cupen) today and then we face them again, in two weeks time in our own SR-Bank Arena in Eliteserien. With two weeks between the matches, we don't need to worry about resting any players for the Eliteserien match. We have no injuries, although Valery Bondar is suspended. We also have a few players not quite fully match fit. -- Expected Line-up
Stuniverse
Saturday 29th June 2030 Bodø/Glimt (Tier 1) v Viking (Tier 1) Norgesmesterskapet i fotball (Cupen) Fourth Round -- -- -- I have to say well done to Tite and his Bodø/Glimt team today. They were much better than us, in every department, and deserved to win today. It was a great goal by Brice Wembangomo but, coming as it did in the 91st minute, it was too little too late. In truth, I would've substituted all 10 outfield players if I could, and sent on all eight outfield subs, including Martin Palumbo, but I could only make five. We weren't good enough today. We couldn't pass, we couldn't even find a blue shirt from a throw-in and, when we did create chances, we couldn't get them on target. I did change our shape and go more Attacking around the hour mark but, in truth, the match was already lost by then. We have an opportunity to prove we can play better than this when we host Bodø/Glimt in 14 days time. We'll give the players a week off to lick their wounds and then we'll spend a week on the training ground preparing to play Bodø/Glimt again in our own SR-Bank Arena in Eliteserien. -- Edited April 7 by Stuniverse

Stuniverse
Preview -- We've lost our last two on the spin, against Brann in Eliteserien and Bodø/Glimt in Cupen. We're home to Bodø/Glimt in Eliteserien today which gives us a great opportunity to set the record straight against them as we really didn't play very well at all in Aspmyra last time out. Today we're at home, I know our de mørkeblå supporters in the SR-Bank Arena will get behind us and, hopefully, we can use that as the springboard to get the result we want. We're almost at full strength. The players had a week off and have been training very hard this week. Stuniverse
Sunday 14th July 2030 Viking (1st) v Bodø/Glimt (2nd) Eliteserien -- -- -- -- Wow! What a game this was. We started well and Gaetano Oristanio had a superb shot that hit the underside of the bar, then the post, and some how stayed out. But then Bodø/Glimt found a way into the game and took the lead on 16 minutes. The game was fairly even after that and Gaetano Oristanio hit the post again. After half an hour, I thought we'd lost Yorbe Vertessen to a serious injury when Henrique Araújo took him out with a two-footed lunge. Yorbe needed lengthy treatment but, fortunately, he was ok. Araújo was shown a straight red. During the break, we changed our shape and went to an Attacking mentality. Gaetano Oristanio felt his calf so we took no risks and took him off, replacing him with Jakob Napoleon Romsaas. Jakob Napoleon Romsaas was superb in the second half, scoring a sensational hat-trick that completely changed the match. We also lost Edvin Austbø to an ankle injury. Bodø/Glimt pulled a goal back on 80 minutes and that led to a very nervy last 10 plus seven minutes but we held out for a well-deserved victory. -- Edited April 7 by Stuniverse

Stuniverse
Sunday 21st July 2030 Odds Ballklubb (7th) v Viking (1st) Eliteserien -- -- -- -- We changed our shape today and went with three centre-backs and two wing-backs instead of the 4-4-2 diamond. I was delighted with how we adapted and played, particularly from an attacking perspective with Oscar Aga very impressive. Defensively, we still have some things to work on. Unfortunately we lost Oscar Aga and Yorbe Vertessen to injuries before half time. We also lost Otto Rosengren with an injury in the second half. --

Stuniverse
Preview -- We're a bit short up fron through injury and Isak Amundsen is suspended today. We also have a few players lacking match fitness we'll need to manage through the game.
