Grimaldo is a LWB who just won with Leverkusen. Other than that it would have been Balde but he's got the Barça young player injury curse.

Talk about desparation: Sutalo is the walking embodiment of Ajax' desastrous season. He played, if we are generous, maybe a handful of games where he was no liability. It's unbelievable that he plays for his NT :D

Other than CBs, Brozović going to Saudi crumbled the entire team. He's just way off the pace.

Modrić obviously can't run anymore, either, and you get what you get.

I guess it would've been unfair to Brozović to remove him from the lineup, but this should be his last tournament.

Badly surprised by Croatia but I guess Modric/Brozovich days are over for different reasons and they have nobody dangerous in attack. Defensively they  are good but the best one is playing out of position.

About Spain, it’s a huge difference vs the old tiki taka one. Now we have two really fast wingers so we can play more direct and use the wings to open the field that is also going to help Morata a lot. Our midfield is also good, the central defenders I’m  not that convinced… right wingback is ok with Carvajal, Cucurella a big surprise, I would have started Grimaldo after the season he had in Leverkusen but I guess the coach wanted a more defensive one there for more stability.

Doesn't Croatia have better CB's than Pongracic?

 

Completly forgot about him, but now I recall him being very poor at BVB some years ago.

I felt the same. Croatia look like they could score twice, still lose and come out with more confidence from the result. Spain have been a little rattled.
