Couldn't do it for years though, even with these bigger names in charge.

National team management is a different beast, so we can't expect Pep type precision. But his general management is really good imo! Don't think he'd cut it in club football though.

But then you look at the competition during those tournaments and they were arguably even stronger.

Right now, England is easily a top3 team with France and Portugal if we talk quality all around the pitch and depth.

Portugal was also held back by an awful coach, but even he managed to win a tournament.

Yeah, Bowen having some luck down the right just now could support the argument - the LB was prepared for Saka but now he has to adjust his game to match Bowen. That's the only way I could see Southgate thinking of that change.
