Did people ever work out who the Secret Footballer was? Is it Danny Murphy?

I'm trying to figure out what makes it that he has a job on TV.

It's odd that footballers are one of the best examples of a meritocracy, but colour commentators of football matches is very much not.

Yeah, fair play to Pepe. Still an incredibly resilient defender who's still an asset to his team.

Knew Portugal would be happy with penalties but disappointed with France.

Dunno what's happened to Mbappe recently either, for a guy with blistering pace he uses it so rarely.

TSF was Dave Kitson.

Rumour has it The Secret Player, a separate book, was Murphy.

I actually don't mind Murphy.

 

I think Portugal have done ok here but take Ronaldo off ffs, there is no point him being there

Second half was alright, was a good 10 minutes where I thought it was breaking out into a good game. First half was dire though, and still big chunks of the second half was meh. Hopefully we at least get some entertainment in this half hour.

Portugal got to fancy themselves with Costa though, even just psychologically with France knowing how he did last time. You'd think France might want to show some level of urgency over extra time.

Saw a stat on Reddit earlier that said Ronaldo has only ever scored 3 goals in World Cup or Euro knockout games in his career (20 games) so if he scores tonight it would actually be fairly unexpected. Which is pretty incredible for somebody with his goal scoring record.
